Welcome back one and all to the ending of our adventure and the start of a new one. The pharaoh's reign ended... and inevitably, important events we need to witness are still unfolding. How are the fallouts going to look?

Ama had prepared to insert one of the pearls inside the dying knight's body well before Arawn voiced his consent because it was the only possible thing she could do before his arrival. He kept whispering ''I'll protect you too'' as the short witch completed the operation. One pearl went inside Hao's chest, the other was ground to dust in Ama's palm, causing a wave of sickly purple-dark to color the veins of her limb, even highlighting her heart through her dirty sundress. She took a gentle hold of Hao's wrist, the colors snaked across her body to proceed inside the bronze skin of Arawn's precious knight, briefly highlighting her veins with this sickly brilliance before disappearing entirely.

''He's asleep.'' Elina took a better hold of Arawn as he slumped forward. She was sitting on his left side... This man, really, REALLY does way too much. He lost an arm, and he's not even worried about himself!

He...He did lose his left arm. Gods above and ancestors beside us this is... Okay Shereen, breathe and concentrate. I've had more than enough emotions when Ama whisked me and Ensan topside thirty minutes ago.
Arawn is alive, that's what matters. Gotta repress that urge to hug him. Rrrrrngh!

Breathe in. Out. Whew.

''He took enough from me to avoid Overcast.'' The red-winged angel grunted to mask the slight break in her voice.

They really cared about him. Yeah, that's bloody obvious Shereen, but it's still nice to see. Unlike me, they took him being left behind with surprising tact, too.

It must be nice, having a soul link... Still, that's no excuse for lacking control. So many things are happening all at once. Thousands of angels out of nowhere, five Supremes wrestling Sieglinde on the ground and keeping her down like a criminal, Ensan has completely shut out the outside world and, of course, everyone here knows damn well who this new blond girl truly is.

Shit, ugh. Arawn hasn't been too wordy about it, neither did his -our- girls but the fact ''Ama'' and ''Tuilelaith'' often followed one another when people spoke about the Witch of Contracts is more than enough hints about their history. Grudging Supremes is a new layer of awful and the nine-tailed fox has been sitting on top of the blood pyramid for well over thirty minutes.

Creepy. Damnably creepy.

Fuck! I didn't think long-term when it came to bringing Ama here. Klesiah keeps throwing her some seriously ominous glares, too. Thankfully, Elina is too distracted by cradling Arawn like a mommy bird to share this enmity. He really did lose his left arm...
>>
''I should be done in around ten minutes. Hao won't feel the after-effects until she regains consciousness, sleeping will be fine... although she should be under surveillance. Her Whitening wasn't fully cured yesterday, and at this point, it likely never will.'' Ama kept her blue gaze on Hao's sleeping figure while holding her wrist, it was so easy to see she was trying very, very hard to distract herself. ''Couple that with the very unusual treatment of Mother Earth, and I honestly have no idea what'll happen to her for sure. Or to you guys.''

At least Hao isn't dying anymore. For now, there's something else that needs to be said.

''Ama, I'm really sorry about Mimiru.'' Speaking about that might have been a mistake because Ama's pretty face made a painful grimace, but that won't stop me. Anyone who isn't willing to show some damn sympathy can choke in a sandpit.

The little blond girl was lying motionless near the wall with a cloak covering her body.

''When the protective petrification was dispelled, she threw herself over me because Zerase threw a spell...Mimiru... held on as long as she could after my dad created his barrier.'' Anais broke her silence, she's been so quiet that I've briefly forgotten about her being here, too. Someone had found a sheet to give her some decency when things had calmed down. ''She never stopped talking about you, the great witch, how proud she was to be a vital part of your game...''

''...Probably better than she never saw me, her eyes were only for the fox.''

''That's not true!''
''I won't believe it!''

Anais spoke when I did. One pause from her prompted me to continue.

''Even if she would have been disillusioned, I'm certain you'd have been able to reconcile. At least you'd have the option to do something.'' I may no longer have a connection of souls with her, but the way Ama grit her teeth while closing her eyes is more than enough hints to make me understand I had to back off. I don't know how many followers Ama had or her relations with them, but young Mimiru was different from the others. ''Wherever we end up going after today, I'll make sure Mimiru will at least have a tomb you can go to whenever you need.''

''If you have nowhere to go, I'll welcome you into my mother's court,'' Anais announced gently while grabbing her cloak tighter. Her smile was dazzling despite all the dirtiness covering her body, face, and hair. ''I know your reputation is... awful, and you've done unforgivable things but I'll wager you aren't the only person in this room with enough sins to warrant summary execution. With your history with the swamp and all of your knowledge, I'm sure you could provide vital intelligence for the rangers.''

''Fff!'' A quake shook Ama's body, she whisked her arms on her head to push her long blond hair on her face while facing Hao, letting it all cascade down on the good knight's belly. ''Whatever! I need to worry about Hao!''

That was a good enough warning to give her some space.

I wonder what my ancestors are thinking about this mess... I've... am I a Kinslayer? At least Ensan wasn't torn apart. She's a prisoner now and, I'm unsure what'll happen to her, she knows very well that she cannot remain in Muribel.

This country will devolve into petty city-states once the surviving nobles and their armies learn about mom's massacre, and all of them will want the Roshanak heads. I can easily see some of our belligerent eastern neighbors making a territorial push, the closest kingdoms of the Alliance will be tempted to do the same. This country is finished. Perhaps the best way to avoid further casualties would be for a Demon Lord-Zipangu alliance to create a provisory central government here, but that'll only exacerbate the problem of my and Ensan survival.

Gods... how many people died in the capital? It might be fair to let Ensan get torn apart to satisfy them. They'll want to do the same to me.

That thought made my whole body tense up. Yeah... If she has to die, at least I'd like my kin to have a humane death. Mom won't have any tombs, but sis deserves that at the very least, yeah...?

I felt some tears tickle my eyes. Aaah! Ensan does NOT deserve my feelings! Damn it! Aaaargh!

Anais began to ask about Hildegarde, I paid no attention to the following conversation with Elina and Klesiah. Elina had taken good care of Hildy's life-threatening wounds, while leaving our friends behind to deal with the scorpions was worrisome, the angels will make certain that anyone will be in good health quickly. Gods, there might be more celestial than actual soldiers! How did they all get stuck inside that blank dimension?

Noises of conversations and people moving made me finally realize how animated the room had become. The massive doors were fully open, messengers came and went while angels used the roof opening to fly around, accompanied by a handful of Mana (or is it Mother Earth?) shards.

Some folks from Zipangu were here, standing not too far from the no-entry-zone that was Sieglinde's existence. That blond handsome man, Siegfried, had made his way here earlier with his pretty, queenly, white-tailed fluffy wife. They seemed in the middle of an important conversation (who wasn't at this point?). Anais dad was with them, the subject of their conversations probably involved Ama because they kept glancing our way.

Ffuuuu. Please, I've had more than enough queenly attention for one day.

Near the middle of the room stood... probably the scariest trio of this entire era! Mana, Mother Earth human consciousness, beloved Demon Lord Daiyu Jawahi, and Felwhore (she really needs a better title) Deruella were having a discussion that kept being interrupted here by some of Mana's shards. The slime and the manticore stood nearby, doing their best to avoid sticking out too much.

There was some kind of activity outside the room. That ghastly, ghoulish glass-wearing inquisitor was lurking around, soon enough joined by the antler wearing paladin and plenty of Mamonos... Ah! Right, the nobles who had taken refuge inside the palace were being moved here. Might be best to keep myself hidden.

Sitting on the stairs of the blood pyramid were the firewitch Olga and the leader of these angels, Bram. I'm not sure what they were talking about but the good fire mage looked insistent to press her point despite the constant interruptions of flying couriers.

And... at the apex sat Tuilelaith by her lonesome, back facing all the activities. Her big bushy tails easily gave her away, coupled with her long white hair, she looked similar to a bundle of fluff instead of a genuine contender for oldest and strongest of Supremes. She... a bit creepy, sitting like that.

I don't like this. Not one bit. Is this what walking on a razor edge feels like? This ball of stress is twisting my guts, I'm honestly expecting someone to walk up to us and slit Ama's throat without needing an explanation. I know she's done terrible things... but I want to give her a chance to do something good.

I think I need to see for myself if anyone else is willing to share that sentiment.

>Speak with Elina and Klesiah. They, like me, will be part of Sieglinde ''family bubble'', I will be living with them, helping them, worrying with them, helping Arawn with them... Knowing if they're willing to accept Ama is vital.

>Sieglinde told me that Ame-no-Uzume is Ama daugther. This is unbelievable, especially with how young Ama looks now... I think it'd be wise to see what they think about her now.

>Interrupting the Demon Lord is suicidal, today has been crazy enough to make me stop caring. I want to keep Ama safe, I want to be her friend... Gaining the Demon Lord and Mother Earth avatar approval is the best way to accomplish that.

>Tuilelaith rivalry with the Witch of Contract goes far beyond my birth, gods it might even predate Daiyu's ascension! While I believe that ama deserves a second chance, I need to ensure the supreme of the ninetails is willing to acknowledge that.

>Free

As we are now incarnating Shereen, every decision we make will go through an emotional, impulsive, and empathetic lens. Arawn is much more in control of himself, Shereen isn't so any custom choices you make might not go as you want.

So we lost Mimiru? The ghoul girl is fully and irrevocably dead? No chance at all to save her now? If so than damnit, I was hoping to see her reaction to Ama's true body. Did we lose anybody else by the way? Couldn't have Anais given her some blood to keep her going at least? I thought it had healing properties (in exchange for also being a beacon for red world entities, vampires, and eldritch horrors from beyond the veil). Part of me is hoping she's really cheeky and wanted everyone to think she was dead and is faking it as a bad joke but that's a dream and likely not reality.

So this choice is mainly about who Shereen will dedicate her efforts in regards to convincing people to not imprison, persecute, hate, or brutally murder Ama correct?
>>
>>5211766
>So we lost Mimiru? The ghoul girl is fully and irrevocably dead? No chance at all to save her now?
She was dead before you got into the pyramid, Zerase blasted her with a dose of necromantic rot aimed at Anais...
>Did we lose anybody else by the way?
Doesn't look like it. The force you left behind with the scorpions was enough to keep everyone alive. (Mostly Hadraniel and Francine, those two are fearsome powerhouses)
>Couldn't have Anais given her some blood to keep her going at least?
Her blood has some healing properties but it is no panacea.
>So this choice is mainly about who Shereen will dedicate her efforts in regards to convincing people to not imprison, persecute, hate, or brutally murder Ama correct?
It's more about gauging people's disposition but yeah, you have it right.
>>
>>5211780
Damn, given this development I was hoping to befriend the ghoul we met so long ago. I'm guessing us stopping to kill Red first is what sealed her fate. Oh well, cold though it may be better her than one of ours. At least she was avenged. Any way to conjure her spirit so Ama can say a final goodbye to her? That is, after all, a thing few are ever lucky enough to get.

Can Ama help out Sieg at all? She's still being restrained as she's still in consumed by her altered corruption right? If Ama can help her and revert her to her normal form now and perhaps know of a cure to fully heal her condition later that'd get Daiyu on Shereen's side really, really quickly. Pyramid of blood is still operational it seems and Shereen still has most of her mana and plenty of blood to work with I think. Might be the key required to make it all work.
>>
>>5211787
It is possible, yes. Things are a bit too busy right now for that, though. Red World ahs been assaulted, Limbo has been opened, hundreds of thousands have died in relatively close proximity... Still, necromancy isn't inherently evil.

>Can Ama help out Sieg at all?
Not for now.
>She's still being restrained as she's still in consumed by her altered corruption right?
Yup. Zaza, Hadraniel, Kyorn, and five of Mana shards are holding her down. She's calm now because she's forced to. Obviously, Daiyu is discussing a solution with the goddess.
>>
>>5211791
Does Ama have any ideas? Unique ideas? Ideas that Daiyu and big ME might not have? What of Tui? Could she and Ama find something they might be missing? Tui is a master of corruption right?

I'm not entirely sure yet but could we try to convince Ama and Tui to go try and help Daiyu and ME with Sieg? We cannot keep Sieg restrained forever. All those people gotta sleep sometime and Dark Sieg might not need to or might need a hell of a lot less of it than everyone else does. The instant she gets the chance it's full on "Blood for the Blood God!" mode again as she slaughters anyone and everyone within range.

Not good, and something that's going to be haunting us until it's somehow solved. I really don't want to have to seal her away in the equivalent of a Tesseract Vault but if some other solution isn't found...
>>
>>5211797
>Does Ama have any ideas? Unique ideas? Ideas that Daiyu and big ME might not have? What of Tui?
Nobody is stepping out to offer a solution with Sieglinde.
>Could she and Ama find something they might be missing?
Perhaps. You'd want the Witch of Contract and the oldest of all ninetails to cooperate? Dear me... Tall order!
>Tui is a master of corruption right?
Yes. Only Daiyu -using the Throne- is of a higher caliber.
>Not good, and something that's going to be haunting us until it's somehow solved. I really don't want to have to seal her away in the equivalent of a Tesseract Vault but if some other solution isn't found...
At the very least, Daiyu and Mana will have something concrete about dealing with her... Still, Siggy situation is grim.
>>
>>5211801
A tall order perhaps, but I do believe Tui is a big ol' softie at heart. Just make sure Shereen is between Ama and anyone who might have a ranged ability.

Shereen will make the case all emotional like. She may hate Ama but I don't think she harbors any ill will towards our doggo. She doesn't want to see Sieg mercy killed or sealed away forevermore. The two of them might be able to figure something out just like Ama and Deru did. Without their joint decoding of the ritual things would have went far worse. Hell, maybe get Deru in on this too. Not sure Ame could help and I think we want to keep her well away from Ama until she's had the chance to earn some "good girl" points.

After all, it was the fact that "killing" a shard is an exercise in futility that stood her hand in Zipangu. Killing Ama's true body now will stick. She'll do it if handed the opportunity on a silver platter right now. Tui, Daiyu, and ME are likely more reasonable folks who will at least wait until Ama "outlives her potential usefulness" before going for a kill.

Also, there's still a bunch of angels about that Ama and Shereen helped right? Would they know anything about anything? They keen on keeping them alive or feel a sense of gratitude and indebtedness towards them?

>Also, there's still a bunch of angels about that Ama and Shereen helped right?
Yup.
>Would they know anything about anything?
To heal Sieglinde? Unfortunately not. The development of -new- type of Corruption is very much above celestial paygrade.
>They keen on keeping them alive or feel a sense of gratitude and indebtedness towards them?
That, however, is true. Their leader, Bram, is definitely the friendliest person toward Ama... beside Shereen of course.
So, I take it you are voting to talk with Tui and bring Ama along?
>>
>>5211876
Yeah, I don't want to leave Ama alone. Like I said, keep Shereen in a position where she can get in the way of any ranged or melee attacks (as I bet some here can close distance so fast they may as well count as having a ranged option).

Besides, Ama looks all vulnerable and shy right now. That's gotta soften people's hearts a bit right? Right?

Heehee. We'll see. I'll leave things open until tomorrow to see if anyone want to make their minds known

No, I shouldn't be afraid. Tui gave Zhu a chance to enjoy life for these past two months. Sure, it was under coercion, a way to give Arawn an ally (gods, how different things could have ended up.). In the end, she did it and still proposed to give Zhu autonomy for this battle... Tuilelaith is a good egg.

''Do you still need to operate on Hao?'' Ama's shoulders twitch when I whisper to her.

''No.'' She responds quietly, letting go of the good knight. ''The pearls will do their work, her will trial starts once she awakens.''

''Then come with me.'' I see the flash of worry on her face, grabbing her hand and pushing gently isn't enough to make her move. ''Let's go talk with Tui.''

''Are you crazy!?''

''Nope.'' Her outburst ended Anais, Elina, and Klesiah's conversation. ''It's about time to wipe out this tension lingering around. Since you'll be sticking with me in Arawn's future adventures, making peace with your rival is an important first step.''

''Nononono.'' Ama is so cute when she's scared and vulnerable! ''She's... Let's not give her any temptations!''

''Tui is a good person.'' She remains firm against my pulling, there's some strength inside that little blond. ''I'll lift you on my shoulders if I need to. Come on Ama, if she had wanted to harm you, she'd have done it already.'' Big assumption here, Tui is scary but she never gave me a bad impression.

It takes a full minute of coaxing for Ama to be willing to take one step forward, let alone toward the pyramid.

''I wanna come and listen to what you'll be talking about.'' Anais gets up and walks behind Ama, giving her a little push.

''I-I don't want to!'' Goodness, Ama is such a scaredy-cat... it's so cute!

Watching this pair of blue-eyed, long-haired blonds close to each other was strangely mesmerizing. This strong colorful similarity was probably playing tricks on my eyes because my instincts kept trying to convince me they were sisters.

''I'll go find what happened to our friends.'' Klesiah gets up, firmly holding her glaive. ''Honestly, I'm unsure what I should feel about Ama. I spent all of last year as one of her followers and even participated in another game of hers...'' Ama looks down when the blue knight glared at her. ''...Her player was afforded the same freedom you and Arawn had, my anger comes from what happened in Throne Town more than being an unwilling puppet. So.'' She gently clangs the staff of her polearm on the ground. ''...I'll defer to Tui's judgment.''

''I'll-''

''Stay here with Arawn.'' Klesiah interrupts her winged friend. ''He's looking really comfy, make me want to sleep on your wings tonight too.''

That little exchange disarmed Ama just enough for me and Anais to successfully pull her toward the pyramid and she gives up resisting once we pass Bram and Olga, the celestial worried look makes me wonder... would he actually defend us if things turn violent?

That'll never happen anyway!
>>
Ascending the stairs is a bit of an experience because of all the flying angels. The overwhelming majority possess wings of peerless white extending out of thick plates of blue. A few of them show red, rosy, blue, and even black tints as they come and go in the bright evening sky.

Looking up makes me almost fall when I try to take a phantom step. Ugh.

Tui's lone presence at the apex looks equally ominous and sad. Her back is turned to the entire room, presenting her big set of motionless, tipless gray tails as something akin to a barrier. Her vixen ears twitch constantly and she shifts her position, ready to rise but not finding the motivation to.

''Evening, Tuilelaith.'' Her name is always a mouthful. ''Thanks for everything you've done and your restraint, too.''

''Hm.'' Her head bob but she doesn't turn to look at us, prompting Ama to hide behind me while pushing Anais forward.

''I know I'm unreasonable, I came up here to ask you what you think about Ama being here. I haven't had time to really explain what happened in Limbo...'' When we emerged out of that Limbo with Ensan -without my mother-, all the angels and Sieglinde situation... Things got busy. ''She's here with us in her true body, no more shards, no more proxy. Alive with all the risks we have.''

''You've got guts, princess.'' She finally answers, the forced joviality in her tone prompts me to grab Zhu precious stone.

''I've come to ask your blessing to help the witch, her follower gave her life to save mine, I have a debt to her.'' Anais speaks, keeping a firm hand on Ama's wrist.

''I'm no world arbiter, yer free to make whatever decision you want lass.'' Tui heaves a sigh without turning. ''That's really you, Ama?''

''...Things happened.'' The witch responds timidly.

''Even the voice sounds different.'' The short ninetails grumble. ''I've been mighty tempted to walk down and rip out your throat, who'd stop me?''

What...? What can anyone say against that? Ama is suitably spooked, her courage falters, she hides behind me and Anais.

''Yet something's been twisting my guts every time I work up the nerve, I can't make up my mind; justifying myself is easy but I know damn well it's all just a cope to satisfy an immature bloodlust.'' She grunts, her tails begin to move gently. ''Been thinking real hard bout our entire history, witch...''

''For years on end, you've been fucking with me, dragging me into your goddamn games, guilt-tripping me whenever you could cause I was the only one who could help whatever poor soul you toyed with. Worked every damn time, too.'' Her tails move here and there with her agitation. ''And now that I've been remembering all of these games of yours, I can't say you've been inconsistent and unfair. The freedom you've granted Arawn and Shereen was something all of your players enjoyed... even if you inserted yourself into their lives and wrecked them in the process.''

''Your games have always been about that, people.'' Tuilelaith grabs two of her tails as she keeps talking. ''Things would get out of hands here and there, but I can't remember you ruining a bunch of peasants for the hell of it.''

''You mean, Leena was the kind of players Ama looked for?'' I hope she's alright...

''One little orphan peasant girl becoming the most important objective for a bunch of powerful people? That's definitely Ama's style and I'll wager she stacked the deck in your favor too, cause that's another constant.'' Tuilelaith turns around and I can't help but let out a sigh of relief. Despite the anger on her face, it's not reflected inside her yellow gaze, the fox is mastering her emotions in a way I can only compare to Arawn. ''That dude, Adam? Pretty odd that a man with a boner for justice was here to help the little one huh?''

''What's the point of pining for misery?'' Ama mutters behind us. ''Happiness is boring to watch but the struggle in reaching it is so addicting to observe... There's no end of ambitious fools swallowing people in their storms, I've always liked redirecting that.''

That's exactly what happened with mother. Although in her case, things got out of hand really, really quickly.

''I suppose we can talk and judge you for all of your games later, nobody asked for a busybody foxy... no a busybody playful little girl to wreck their lives, even if it turned out okay. Mostly. It's a shitty attitude to demand people adjust to a new normal.'' Tuilelaiths tails are moving around like angry snakes as she takes a long sigh.

''Nah, my urge to disembowel you come from Throne Town. We all know what happened there, hundreds of apprentices got slaughtered by misshapen horrors. Sure, sure you found Arawn again and began to toy with him, it wasn't any of your games, your followers ran amok and people paid one hell of a price. So many little lasses, so many daughters gone... Boils my fucking blood.''

I'm not going to defend that. Arawn hated talking about it, I've heard plenty from Elina and Klesiah, so did Zhu. Sure, assaulting cadets might be a ''military viable'' strategy but it is unforgivably disgusting.

''This is exactly why I want her with us.'' I speak, walking forward to face the short, yet terribly scary ninetailed Supreme. ''Her capacity to play games is gone, her followers are also gone, Ama knowledge and capabilities can help us do good things from now on.'' I needed to add a little important thing. ''And I want to be her friend. Tui, I'll tell you everything that happened in Limbo later, but I assure you now that she's been in solitude for far, far longer than you.''

''Hm, y'know the biggest problem with Supremes comes with them escaping justice all the time. All that strength, all that knowledge, and capacity make the temptation of forcing them into meritorious deeds of redemption impossible to resist.'' Tui chuckled, her long tongue briefly exit her mouth to moisten her lips. ''But if Throne Town massacre is enough to slit her throat, I oughta start with meself first. All the shit I've done make me far worse than our little witch.''

''Is that so? That... sounds rather unbelievable. I can't say you have a reputation in the Allied Kingdoms, silence is still better than all the whispers of horrors that follow the Witch of contract who eats people in the Cursed Swamp.'' Anais says gently, prompting a mocking smirk to settle on Tui's face.

Though... it looked more self-derisive to me.

''I'm the Demon Lord that preceded Damien.''

What!? No way! I did read that whoever ruled before him did so for only ten years but that's it!

''Great Crusade is on my shoulders. I'm the one who united most of the monster tribes, I'm the one who changed Throne Town from a decrepit capital into a city worthy of that name by dragging it halfway into the Red. I laid the foundations for the logistic of Damien's grand genocidal army.'' Her fluffy ears droop as she looks down in disgust. ''So, I'm the last person in the world to go around judging people's crimes. I try my best to avoid being a hypocrite.''

''Tui...'' I can't say anything, Ancestors beside me, this is one hell of a revelation. The guilt she must feel... Is there anyone in this world who could help carry this burden with her?

''I've made up my mind.'' Tuilelaith walks closer, her tails swishing around excitedly, while there's some hint of aggression in her demeanor, she's not enraged.

''Ama. I'm giving you one chance.'' She extends one finger toward the little blond peeking from my shoulder. ''One chance. Don't fuck it up.''

''I don't think I could even if I wanted to.'' Says the fallen witch. ''This body... Walking here is weird.''

''Too many people know what you really are now. Info will leak eventually.'' Tui stops briefly to loudly breathe in and out. ''Gonna deal with it as it happens I guess. I wanna know what happened in Limbo in detail too, but we're running out of time.''

One of her tails points toward the Demon Lord. The three women did look ready to take action.

''Right!'' Ama grunts when my tail slaps her. Sorry! ''Can we do anything to help Sieglinde?''

''We cannot count on the two known methods to deal with Corruption, right?'' Anais offers tentatively.

''Sieglinde is not lucid enough to do anything,'' Tuilelaith responds firmly. ''Being the origin of a new Corruption, a mutation of the old is... The fact she's still looking remotely human right now tells more about her stubborn resilience than anything else. She believes herself human so strongly that it goes into the marrow of her bones, it is the fiber of her entire existence, and this new Corruption is slowly undoing all of that. Once that happens, Sieglinde will become the center of an epidemic, her Corruption will start an infection of changes.''

''I don't know if we can do anything, at least not without pearls. Corruption has this nasty habit of resisting the old magic.'' Ama keeps a wide berth with Tuilelaith, moving to stay behind me as the wide fluffy Supreme begins walking down the pyramid.

''There has to be something we can do, right? The Blood Pyramid is here, we know my nature, two Demon Lords, Mana as the human incarnation of Mother Earth, Zipangu expert on souls...''

''Not saying she's hopeless, lass.'' One of her tails extends to rub my arm. ''All the ideas I've got need the use of the Throne, I need to hear what both moms have been talking about.''

And I'll be going too. Yesterday, Sieglinde accepted me into her precious family... Today is just another trial to keep it whole!

''Thank you for coming you two. I'm a bitter bitch, having you guys here helped keep my feelings in line.'' Tui doesn't look back as she descends the stairs and waves toward the scariest trio in the world.

>Free

Things are naturally moving toward a meeting with Daiyu, Deruella, and Mana but I don't want to make a railroad. Incarnating Shereen does make it impossible for me to not guide you guys toward certain events. If you guys agree, then you can try asking Tui a little question before we go with this meeting. If there's something else you think Shereen oughta do, then make your opinion known.
Also, I'm finishing work at 8pm tomorrow and Friday, I'll try my best to answer Friday evening but, in all likelihood, the thread will resume Saturday

Tui was once a demon lord and preceded Damien? How'd she lose her position? I doubt he simply convinced her to abdicate the throne for Damien unless he was the greatest liar since Lucifer.

Ok, if I remember right the two common ways to deal with corruption is to incarnate it as a summon and destroy it or put it all into a sacrificial vessel and then, well, sacrifice/kill them right? Obviously they've tried doing the former and even if they could Sieg would never accept the later. Too cruel a fate for even a condemned criminal for her tastes as I doubt it'd be as... nice as the usual process would be.

I guess this means we're also on a bit of a time crunch. The last vestiges of Sieg's will are holding out so far but once it inevitably fails she will become the epicenter of a corruption based plague. A plague that will horrifically mutate and rob the infected of all reason as they maim, murder and gorge themselves upon the corpses of friend and foe alike as they howl at the sky. If this also means she supplants her mom as the "new" demon lord and thus transmits it to all mamono this becomes a full extinction event for all sentient life on the planet!

Out of curiosity what are Shereen's reserves? Sieg is fully not lucid right now so that means no amount of talking or anything will do much except tempt her to spit infecting corruption at them? No way to maybe get a moment or two of clarity out of her?

>Ok, if I remember right the two common ways to deal with corruption is to incarnate it as a summon and destroy it or put it all into a sacrificial vessel and then, well, sacrifice/kill them right?
Yup.
>Out of curiosity what are Shereen's reserves?
Her measurement capabilities aren't like Arawn, Shereen feels ''half-full'' when inspecting her reserves.
>Sieg is fully not lucid right now so that means no amount of talking or anything will do much except tempt her to spit infecting corruption at them?
Pretty much. Her new corruption hasn't progressed enough for her to become infectious yet.
>No way to maybe get a moment or two of clarity out of her?
Perhaps Daiyu and Mana can do something like that, but as of right now, neither Tui or Ama have any idea. New Corruption is damnably hard to deal with.
>>
>>5213161
Hmmm... there is one thing I just thought of. I think you said that communication with Gardy's ego might be possible somehow. Perhaps he would know something the others do not. If not about this corruption than maybe the Throne itself. He did spend god only knows how long sulking in its deepest depths. Maybe he found something out about it while he was in there that would help...
>>
>>5213181
Oh, communicating isn't impossible but that's not going to happen here. Not possible at all in these circumstances.
>>
>>5213185
Maybe not here and now, but after our boy wakes up perhaps it could happen. It sounds like we have a day or two before we have to either seal Sieg away forevermore or just straight up kill her to stop a world ending plague from consuming the world.

Not sure Shereen knows about the particulars about the Gardy situation but even if she doesn't she would think to ask us/Gardy about some of this once we wake up.

Also, we got the next few days to think of something else Shereen could ask/do before we proceed to meeting with Daiyu to discuss how to deal with the unfolding tragedy with Sieg right? Also, I just remembered, she got like this when old Siggy tried to kill her right? Would he know anything about what's going on?

>Also, we got the next few days to think of something else Shereen could ask/do before we proceed to meeting with Daiyu to discuss how to deal with the unfolding tragedy with Sieg right?
Yeah but that's because of my job. You don't know what Daiyu and Mana intend to do yet after all.
>Also, I just remembered, she got like this when old Siggy tried to kill her right?
Yup.
>Would he know anything about what's going on?
He had well over 13 years to do his best in helping cure her and so far, nothing worked.
>>
Alright, I can finally concentrate on writing a bit tonight. I'll do my best to post tomorrow, though it might be a chunker
>>
Aah, sorry for the delay. Was a bit under the weather healthwise this weekend. I'll make up for lost time.
>>
Thread to resume tomorrow with the end of our Shereen incarnation, thanks for putting up with me guys.
>>
>>5224537
It's cool. We can always wait for quality. Still, Shereen time's ending soon? Won't we have a chance to do anything with poor Sieg as best doggo?
>>
>>5224721
Trust me, Sieglinde has been Daiyu priority.
>>
>>5224733
I just hope someone can help her somehow. I'd hate to lose her now.

Especially like this. Put down like a rabid dog or sealed away in some interdimensional tomb instead of going out in a blaze of glory. Such an honorless end. She deserves better...
>>
>>5224831
What's been Daiyu most constant belief throughout her reign?
>>
>>5224835
Hard to determine and I sadly don't got the time to go over all the other threads to try to pick up on the hints.

Still, the most glaring and controversial/stupid thing she did was grant full sentience to *all* mamono in an attempt to make them all like the races of man with the end goal of fusing the very concept and being of "humanity" with her own "monster" kind in all the relevant fields. Mental, physical, spiritual.

Am I on the right track somehow?
>>
>>5224920
Hmm, I might have lacked clarity. Let's say... what's even more important than her Demon Lord seat for Daiyu?
>>
>>5224925
Her family. Clearly and obviously. However, Sieg's condition could lead to a "forced override" where Dark Sieg takes her place and that new corruption and Dark Sieg's template gets uploaded to all mamono no matter what anyone else has to say about the matter.

That "patch" would spell the end of all sentience as everything devolved into a state of carnage even Khorne at his worst would balk at. Hence why I'm rather worried about Sieg's fate. Daiyu's as well. She'll be able to get convinced by ME, Tui, and others to end/seal Sieg before it comes to that but that will break her so utterly that she'll basically become a husk. A mere shell existing merely to make the death of her eldest daughter not be in complete vain.

Daiyu is many things and has many people around her to support her, but there is no truly getting over the fact that no parent should have to bury their child...
>>
>>5224941
My, interesting indeed... I'll just say this. Pushing Sieglinde in revealing her disease in act 1 was a very good thing.. Daiyu already lost one child...
>>
>>5224946
So she may have been able to run it past Deru and Martha and they may have been able to figure something out then.

I doubt they came up with a perfect solution however. Maybe Ama is a perfect sacrifice but while everyone else may be OK with that Shereen, possibly Tui, and the Angelic Host she freed will not be.

Gah! If only I knew what ruleset you were trying to emulate here...
>>
It was easy to notice that Ama had gained a confident gait now that Tuilelaith wasn't going to tear her apart, resisting the urge to grab her hand was honestly pretty hard... It's much better to see her with a smile on her face! Although, she tries to hide it after noticing my stare. Hmph, figures. Who's the one working so hard on your behalf, huh?

''Meeting the Demon Lord and the human consciousness of our dear goddess... I'm a little intimidated.'' So do I, Anais. I even had the chance of meeting them yesterday but it's not making it easier...

''Ey, both of them are kinda like bears you can poke... just don't go messing with their kids,'' Tuilelaith chuckled, even adding a wide goofy smile to her mood. ''Stick with this image of Mother Earth, too. Having a meeting with our whole goddess is the worst thing you'll ever do, thankfully she's wise enough to understand humans can only respond well to...another human perspective.''

''Sounds ominous.'' If I hadn't seen for myself what Mana was capable of (by the Ancestors, she not only transported hundreds of warriors through the sky but also crashed all of us like a meteor... without any friendly casualty while wiping out a third of my mother army!) I'd honestly believe her to be a gorgeous human.

Her long brown hair, hazel eyes, conservative clothing, and youthful face wrap her in a warm aura I can only describe as ''mommy energy''.
Kinda make sense given who she is, I wanna sleep on her lap...

The Demon Lord stands a head taller. With long green hair, cute head wings, sexy hip wings, and a body sculpted for combat without sacrificing aestheticism, she looks so cool no matter the circumstances.

Aaaah! No more distractions! I make sure to press forward by walking ahead. I'm glad Tui is such a reasonable person, but now all of my anxiety is directed at Siggy...

''I hate being unable to investigate Sieglinde's Corruption. I can't refute your logic this time, mother. You can imagine the reaction, don't you? If the throne fails...'' I heard Deruella whisper, we must have reached the tail end of whatever calm argument they were having.

''Is there anything we can do to help Siggy?'' Oh crap, pet names aren't proper. ''I mean, Sieglinde!''

Ooooh, Ancestors preserve me I felt my legs wobble when the three women turned to look at me. Very well could be the most dangerous trio in the world! Good thing I wasn't alone.

''If we had time, perhaps...'' Daiyu answered and stepped forward imperiously, followed by Deruella and Mana. ''Good evening Shereen, your resilience truly is amazing... as is your kindness.''

She... She actually... reached for my ears.

Nnnngggh...Why do people keep grabbing them!? It's not pro- she's good. Daiyu has warm hands...

''I-We came- listen! Tui, even Ama... my blood nature can...uff'' The Demon Lord hand finally left my head, and I felt someone shuffle behind me. Rather (from the sensation I got from my tail) it was Ama.
>>
''Easy now.'' Tui took leadership, thank the Ancestors. ''You three got the look of people who've come to a resolution, I gotta agree with fluffy here. There's a real gathering of heroes right now, even an Exorcist, are you all sure we can't help Sieglinde?''

''I believe the only time I'm better than you at manipulating Corruption is when I use the Throne, you're right in saying we have an amazing amount of skilled people gathered here,'' Daiyu answered gently while crossing her arms. ''What we lack is time. Sieglinde's degeneration will last until tomorrow at best and there's no telling how much she'll be crippled throughout the night... if she even survives it at all.''

''Her Corruption is foreign to reality, on top of all the Supremes and heroes keeping her down, she's crippled by agonizing pain.'' Mana continues, stepping beside the amazing green-haired succubus. ''Night is when the pressure of the All-World is at its thinnest, her Corruption is likely to completely overtake her ego.''

No way...

''Corruption is the element that allows monsters to keep living comfortably in their bodies, right?'' Anais question is met by a few nods. ''Mamonos like Shereen do not produce a big natural volume because she looks fairly human while scorpion's women create more due to their difference with a normal, human body.'' Her uncertain statement was met by more nods. ''Corruption can be extracted -even unwillingly- and the ancestral method used by Monsters was to pour it inside a sacrifice...''

''...And kill the unfortunate lass, yup. We got a new method now, much more dangerous sure, but it at least gives people the possibility to fight.'' Tui comments, tails swishing with each breath.

Yeah, it can be very dangerous alright. Especially with a Red Prince lurking inside your soul.

''Okay, Sieglinde is the nexus of a new Corruption... Since we have the real deal Demon Lord, with...'' She hesitates while looking at Tui who casually nods. ''...A past one and Tsukiyomi who's been created as an artificial Demon Lord, how do we not have all the tools and skills to deal with Sieglinde situation?''

''Corruption has always been tied with the Throne and its Lord.'' Daiyu answered calmly, actually she looks surprisingly happy. ''It went through many changes that reflected whoever commanded it. For example, the vampire Nigil infused his vampirism into it, resulting in many of the lower monsters craving meats and human blood, genuine undead were a reality instead of the living creatures they are today, it was a different era altogether. Intelligent races of monsters can resist the Demon Lord influence, but not conquer it, resulting in certain species becoming natural leaders of armies. Each Demon Lords had instinctive control of Corruption inside the body of others. Meaning subservience was natural for Monsters of all grades, except a few exceptions... mostly those who lived before the reign of that particular Lord.''
>>
''Until this era.'' Deruella opined softly.

''While each Demon Lord could make their Corruption unique, it never lost its element of control until today.'' Daiyu glanced at her daughter. ''That resulted in Sieglinde mutation. Had I followed my predecessor, her natural Corruption would have supplanted this new one... Rather, my will would have made it so.''

Freedom of will has been imprinted into Corruption itself and that is precisely why Sieglinde's Corruption mutated.

''True sentience carries many difficulties but therein lies salvation,'' Mana spoke gently. ''This new Corruption was born outside the Throne and will thus run amok amongst Mamonos, be they long or short-lived. An epidemic of violence is guaranteed. Perhaps people will learn to resist its influence with time... but I would take Zerase ascension as a Pretender over this phenomenon.''

One can at least be negotiated with. Ancestors...

''So you tellin' me you've an idea how to deal with it? Whatcha gonna do Daiyu, absorb your daughter Corruption into you?'' Truthful silence followed, Deruella was the one who looked the most uncomfortable out of the three.

''I can take it.'' Said the fluffy Supreme, a look of genuine dread shadowing her features. ''Maybe not better than you, but I can be spared.''

''I've had a year to prepare, Tui. If you go out of control, you'll be unceremoniously put down. You have far too many responsibilities to go die now.''

One year? Has she been experimenting on Sieglinde altered Corruption?

I feel my hand grasping Zhu's gem.

''Bull-fucking-shit Daiyu. That outer Corruption might even cut off your link with the Throne, you think Throne Town can take the news of a new Trial coming outta the blue?''

''If it happens, then my daughters will help you deal with it. As would Zipangu folks I'm sure, Arawn earned himself a whole lot of goodwill yesterday. This assault wasn't enough to cover that debt, they'll still need his nature.'' The Demon Lord's calm tone and clear eyes barely hint at her steely spine. Daiyu would rather plunge the world into war than keep putting Sieglinde's life at risk.

''...and my children will have to understand they need to live up to the name of their belief,'' Mana interjects gently. ''Last year, Daiyu reached me on the subject of her daughter's Corruption and we will now employ what we were able to concoct. I shall weave us a protective vessel while she takes in this surplus, my shards will maintain it as I help Daiyu handle that loathsome force. All that will be needed is for all of you, dear friends, to find a way to purify it''

''F-find...? But how? If this poison is so virulent that you, dear goddess, need to be sealed away with the Demon Lord...'' Anais bewilderment mirror my own.

Mom... what have you done...?
>>
''By finding or making a solution, of course.'' Deruella speaks excitedly. ''This Corruption is an element antagonist to the world, an enemy to all living things. Scholars and heroes of foreign lands who've dedicated themselves to mastering magic we don't know might have the insights we need, perhaps the higher echelons of the church exorcists can help, too... we'll manage.'' She pauses for a long breath. ''Always will.''

She doesn't look sad but I think she's trying really, really hard to keep herself composed. Deru's smile is forced, her spaded tail is practically stabbing the air around her

''Deru...'' Her tenebrous eyes of dark and red shoot me a vulnerable glance.

''Martha is here, I'll go talk to her.'' I don't have time to place another word, the pale demoness practically flees toward the exit, quickly flanked by her two friends. A sizeable crowd was forming outside the pyramid, things must have calmed down outside.

Grr, Daiyu went back to patting my head. Putting strengths into my ears does nothing to remove that hand.

''We've only known each other one day but I'm glad you've joined Siggy little family. Deruella carried with her a special ring that allowed me to hear your confrontation with Zerase, you've got much more courage than you think.''

She's... She's speaking so warmly. Fuck. Damn! I'm feeling jealous. It's disgusting, insulting, reprehensible, monstrous but I can't help it... Daiyu's such a wonderful mom. She's... Don't cry again, me!

''Sorry...'' Gaah damn it! I can't hear a thing about what Tuilelaith and Mana are talking about, the good fluff is being consoled, too.

Her warmth when she envelops me inside her arms is beyond wonderful. The Demon Lord herself is...! She's such a tall, wonderful, strong, great mother.

''W-Wait, Daiyu you...'' Control yourself, damn it! Breath. Breath! ''...You heard everything? My mother, what she said... A-about...Lisbeth?''

''It's okay little love.'' Astonishment managed to silence my crying fit. Daiyu use her hair to clean my face. ''That man will have his comeuppance, give Arawn a hand to keep my girls and Zaza from doing something irreparable, okay?''

''I'm sorry if my mother hadn't...''

''I'm no blameless angel when it comes to his vengeance, there's no need for you to burden yourself with my family history.'' Breathe in... out... okay. The tears have stopped with the release of Daiyu's embrace.

She's tall and imposing, the wings stretching out of her hips nearly mask my entire vision of her side of the room yet her expression is gentleness incarnate.

''Your magical gift is something people will hate you for, the more you try to learn and improve yourself, the more dangerous they'll find you. Don't be afraid to learn what you can, my daughters, your friends, and Arawn will help, they'll give you a little pat on the back whenever you need it.''

''This is bullshit!'' A muffled voice reaches my ears, it's probably Daiyu second daughter. ''Give me a few days to set up a lab and I'll be able to extract that Corruption, we can dump it somewhere far-off!''

''Now, now don't let your guilt consume you.'' Mana is speaking with that blond man, Siegfried... No, like Tui, she's consoling him despite his face showing no hints of weakness. ''This sleep shouldn't be too long... and I can go without fears, not only was I able to meet my grandaughters but I know they're both safe and hale too.''

Granddaughters?

A sizeable group of Mother Earth shards has gathered around us, there must be around thirty of the colorful gals now. They've formed a circle that's excluding all curious busybodies, all of them have this sad look of resolution...

''You're Ama, aren't you?'' Daiyu direct tone freezes my spine.

''Yeah.'' I don't know when but it seems the little blond witch had shed her cowardice.

Daiyu leaves my side and steps close to Ama, enough to make the disparity in height between them downright intimidating. ''Are you truly the mother of Ame-no-Uzume?''

''No. Her actual mother was someone I communicated with frequently but the blood curse... and the general circumstances of her life claimed her sanity, so I took the kid. And promptly realized I wasn't equipped for taking care of someone that strong and mentally ill, you know what happened next.''

It's in the history books. Tsukiyomi-no-Mikoto, the previous queen of Zipangu, went on an odyssey inside the swamp to rescue her adoptive daughter and present queen of Zipangu, Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto from the clutches of the Wound-of-the-World.

A smokescreen of a title. Fitting for a witch.

''Ah!'' Ama let out a scared breath when Daiyu hand went to rest on top of her head.

''You look far too young for someone this old.'' There's anger in her voice but it doesn't translate to her gesture. ''Were you a normal person, I'd execute you for your crimes... but if you were normal, you wouldn't have been able to do any of them.'' She doesn't add anything else, Daiyu steps away from the short witch and pauses to look at me.

''Shereen?'' She demands my attention, I can only give it. I... Gods, maybe if I was better at handling my magic... ''Tell Arawn that Gardy is safe in the Red World of Throne Town. They'll be able to talk out there. He's protecting something very, very precious...''

''Daiyu!'' A rumbling voice and stomping feet prevent me from saying anything, Anais squeak and hide behind me when Zazawu immense presence all but invades Daiyu personal space. ''Them Mother Earth helpers have been saying some ominous stuff, Siggy need help but you're not going to-''

''Zaza.'' Her voice cannot be compared in intensity with his yet he silences himself despite his agitation. Zazawu large body keeps fidgeting around, the outward mandible of his mouth creates audible clickings. ''Come here, get your face here.''

He obeys. Zazawu immense body is a walking contradiction. His massive silhouette is human-like, albeit with four arms instead of two but his face is one of a brown-furred raccoon, the size of his head can only be grasped with Daiyu both arms, and even then, she can only hold his fuzzy cheeks.

''You know exactly what I'm willing to do for them.'' She looks into his eyes, her stance is awkward since she's on her tiptoes, but the intimacy here makes me feel like they're alone in the world.

''I'll be sleeping with Mother Earth, that's all. My girls will need their uncle and... I'll never be able to thank you for your support and how much you've helped my family.''

''Daiyu, I-I... You've...I-I've held them in those stupid big hands of mine the day they were borns. I'll always be, always wanted to be their uncle but... The girls need their mom. I can take that Corruption, I'm disposable.'' Tears crawl out of his dark eyes to be lost in his furry face.

''Never.'' She squeezes his cheeks. ''No matter what happens, I know you love them as much as I do, for now, I need you to make sure their ambitions won't outstrip their wisdom. Don't wake me up if my family has broken apart again.''

''We are nearing the end of dusk.'' Mana imposes herself in their little world, flanked by both of Daiyu daughters, the colorful Martha and pale, ominous Deruella, they look composed despite the situation but not to me. Their faces say one thing, the soul -their blood- whispers their emotions tempestuous emotions

''Don't let your big sister feel guilty about this, alright?'' Daiyu says while placing herself between her daughters.

''Mom...? Are you serious? We don't have time?''

''Don't go running away again, please Martha? I know that's how you handle pain. Zaza and Belphegor are going to need you, so will Siggy, hell maybe you can take Arawn as a student too.'' She stops walking to look at her blue daughter for a moment and, finding satisfaction despite her girl holding back her emotions, turns to Deruella.

''I...I think I understand, the feeling, the... motivation.'' Deruella sniffle and rubs away tears clinging to her eyes. ''I'm not the empty shell I kept telling you I was, huh?''

''I never believed it for a second. The entire world hates you and, logically, they're probably right but I'll never give a damn about anyone's opinion when it comes to my love for you, Deru.''

''I want to close the book with father.'' A seething breath of rage comes out with her sentence.

They've walked too far for me to hear anything else now. Daiyu, Derueella, and Martha of the Jawahir are accompanied by the human consciousness of Mother Earth and the man Siegfried-no-Mikoto who... Could he be her son? His daughters, her granddaughters?

''Aaaah fucking hell.'' Tuilelaith plops herself on the ground, all but imposing everyone else to walk around her. ''You three, get in my tails.'' She points to me, Anais and...?

''Me too?'' Ama points to herself in disbelief.
>>
''I demand to be surrounded by cute girls, get in my fluff.'' Says the short, yet terrifying ninetailed vixen.

The ritual that will begin is one to change the world. The human consciousness of Mother Earth and the Demon Lord will be locked together, cooperating to get rid of an unbelievable evil... Gods, will that stir the flames of ambition and rebellion within people or maybe, just maybe... create genuine cooperation between humans and monsters?

Aaaaah. I don't care, I'm tired. I just... wanted to keep Ama safe, yet she wasn't even in any danger... Tui tails are so warm. They...absorbing my thoughts, I think I'll take a nap.

>I will post a continuation with Arawn in the next few days. Act 2 is ending... heralding a new beginning!

Ok, a lot just happened. Looks like I was right about that forced override problem. The really big deal though is that both Daiyu and ME are going to get sealed away to fight (or at least contain) what sounds like a malevolent Outer God and/or the manifestation of its will. This will "cure" Sieglinde but also leave us with what may be a ticking nuclear time bomb. How the hell do you kill/purify an Outer God that's about as powerful as ME herself? If ME is sealed away how will that affect the world in general? Isn't she the one keeping a lot of shit from beyond the veil from invading this reality as well as keeping a lot of evil people from succeeding in their dark plans?

It also sounds like this will trigger a new Demon Lord succession war. I wonder if we're eligible to lay claim to it. If I remember right it's similar to a Holy Grail War correct? That's going to really suck for everyone if so.

Still, this is quite the conundrum for act 3. We gotta find some way to purify/kill an Outer God and possibly do something about who becomes the next Demon Lord. Failure will doom the world so hey no pressure. Seems like we're going to be getting a lot of latitude in the next act. Total freedom to go and do what we want. Sadly, we're a bit of a lazy bum so that's where our vice is gonna kick in good and hard. So much to do, and we can only be bothered so hard to get any of it done. Can we get minions? We could use minions.

> If ME is sealed away how will that affect the world in general?
It's ''only'' her human consciousness that'll be sealed off. Her web, its miracles, and logistics will be fine. She has been away from it for 20 years once, her shards can take care of the maintenance.
> Isn't she the one keeping a lot of shit from beyond the veil from invading this reality
No, that's Father Sky. He's the one watching over the night.
>as keeping a lot of evil people from succeeding in their dark plans?
Maybe it's time the Church does its goddamn job!
>It also sounds like this will trigger a new Demon Lord succession war.
It's something Tui fear but it remains to be seen if it'll manifest.
>If I remember right it's similar to a Holy Grail War correct?
Yup.
>Seems like we're going to be getting a lot of latitude in the next act
Definitely. Act 3 is going to be much more long-term, I'm not going to step into making another grand epic like act 2 in a long while. I want Act 3 to be mostly about lots of little events while dealing with grander objectives and happenings of course. The Allied Kingdoms, The Commonwealth of Gwynedd-Zipangu, and Throne Town will all become areas you can act in, instead of being continuously mentioned now.

But that's for later. I'll be doing a few slices of life, calm episodes before tackling bigger issues. How to deal with Hao situation, what happened with Leena, how you intend to fix your arms, seeing how you can put ama skills and knowledge to good use etc.
>Can we get minions? We could use minions.
Aside from your main party, the exorcist that came to help your force and a certain archer young lad are going to be Arawn ''direct'' minions. Outside of that, Sieglinde and Deru are influential and of course, those 20k angels are lacking a purpose... But again, that's a worry for later. I'll leave one important choice for act 3 foundation when we reach the end of our epilogue
>>
>>5225821
Sounds fun. I've got a lot of ideas about what we could pursue. Still, I like the idea of 20k Angels with a *major* debt to Shereen and Ama. Can't wait to learn what we can do with em'.

Also in regards to Ama I think you said the key to unlocking her full power (or rather, getting it back) lies with the throne as it acts as a kind of gateway to other dimensions like "limbo" she used to reside in and she needs to get back there to use all her powers again.

Granted, it's a rather nasty portal that'll try to eat/kill you as you try to find your way to whatever dimension you're trying to get to but hey we've got a hella strong party and I'm pretty sure we can use full fusion while we're in there so if we spend some time with Martha we can essentially create a "build" purpose made to escort people through it. Hopefully Daiyu and previous Demon Lords kept journals on the thing so we'll know what we'll need to cheese through its BS.

Act 2 has been a beautiful adventure. I look forward to the new horizon of Arawn's future, and the interactions with everyone from now on.

When the first sparks of consciousness chased off sweet oblivion, you understood today will be difficult.

''Hrm...?'' A pained groan escaped your lips. Your body felt weird.

A constant pain was gripping your senses. Your skin felt hypersensitive, the weight of the sheet covering you meant the mere act of breathing caused a soft agony to spread all over you. A constant hot throbbing in your left arm forced you to grit your teeth... which only managed to elicit more painful sensations to travel your gums. Mother's Mercy, how are you going to eat? It's not unlivable pain, but it'll make your existence miserable.

''Arawn? It's okay... We'll find a way to help with that pain.''

''Klesiah?'' You mutter, opening your eyes, squinting against the midday light. Your wholesome blue knight was handling a pitcher while restraining the urge to hug you, she's getting good at analyzing you through the soul link.

You're on Shereen's far too massive bed, inside her luxurious room. The brightness coming from the round opening on the roof revealed that it was at least midday, the big water garden brought a comfortable freshness that, unfortunately, didn't improve your comfort.

''You've been asleep for two days.'' Klesiah's gentleness is a boon to your heart. Her bubbly happiness makes her reach toward you, but your pain stops her enthusiasm. ''Quite a few things happened.''

''I can imagine. Come here.'' You've got one good arm left, moving it is like poking a toothache. At least the constant agony doesn't spread into your bones.

''A-ah...but you're in pain...'' It's impossible to hide your intentions, her fidgeting is adorable. Temptation clash with concern nakedly upon her features.

''Be gentle.'' Your smug grin is enough to kindle a little flame of frustration within her.

''Hmph.''

That's how you coax a kiss out of your dear knight. It quickly escalates into you cupping her cheeks to get a proper taste of your blueberry. Her sweet taste and gentle smell make the pain worth it.

''Ah...'' You're the one who has to break the kiss, all the little nook and cranny she poked with her tongue are spreading waves of pain throughout your mouth. ''We'll have to make sure to cure Hao as soon as possible.''

''She's in a bad way, my lord.'' You've abandoned insisting on having her call you something else because the soul link revealed this title is a major source of excitement for your good knight. ''But there's hope. That crow lady of Zipangu and Teruko have been with her throughout your sleep. There has to be something we can do.''

''Her Whitening is under control at least, I've been sleeping for two days you say?'' She nods. ''Is the general situation good?'' Another nod. ''How have the casualties been on our side? Sieglinde... she's doing well?''

''Yes... Something very special happened.'' Her hesitation hint at a deeper sadness. ''I'll tell you about the last two days first.''

Casualties on your side were amazingly slim. None of the Ushi-Onis of the first wave perished (although all of them suffered injuries) despite being the vanguard that not only smashed itself against the remnants of the Pharaoh's army inside the palace town but took over the inner wall and defended against the rallying troops outside. The five-thousand soldiers raised by the fluffy queens were the ones who paid the price of victory. Yet, only two hundred of them perished, but the numbers of seriously wounded were well over half the entire army. The angelic timely reinforcement saved many lives by dispelling the enemy's necromantic poison.

Mother Earth burning Zerase web and meteoric entrance coupled with your party forcing Ensan away from the front were also likely key factors for this result.

The casualties in the capital and surrounding areas were catastrophic. Zerase innocent citizens suffered her ambition, having been lured into the city by the preparation of a week-long festival that usually happened once every five years, the fog had claimed so many lives that a final count might be impossible to make. 600 000 death was the lower estimation of the angel's investigation, they didn't find a single survivor. Not even people finding refuge inside the huge basement of the church escaped Zerase bloodlust.

This is more than enough deaths to break a kingdom. It is a disgusting twist of fate for the only survivors to be the nobles who sought refuge inside Shereen's wing of the palace and the soldiers who surrendered.

''Daiyu and Mana...'' You can only whisper in astonishment. ''...I wonder how Daiyu managed to convince the goddess, she had this contingency figured out before the battle huh?''

''I'm still unsure what to feel about the... monument they've created. You'll see soon.'' She comments while grabbing a big cup of tea. ''Here my lord, it's lukewarm and should be comfortable to drink. Hao has a terrible time with anything too cold or hot, I'll assume it'll be the same for you.''

This is the sugary sweet morning wake-up drink for Muribel inhabitants since they tend to snub coffee, over your time here, you've grown to like it. Your knight thoughtfulness allows you to drink without complication yet the mere act of swallowing is painful.

If what you're feeling now is a fraction of what Hao is going through... Mother's Mercy.

''Don't try to tough it out, if you need help to walk I'm here.'' Klesiah places herself beside you, clearly hesitating between imposing herself or letting you move.

''I'll probably need you once I get tired.'' As you move to the edge of the bed, you notice a little important thing. ''...Though I could use some clothes.''

''Oh! Right!'' She wanted to watch everything you had on offer. Alas, that wouldn't be a good idea. You knew escalating temptation would trump pain, if sheets alone are enough to burn your nerves, touching someone is a risk you need to avoid.

Moving around wasn't difficult, the real trial was having Klesiah take care of doors and making certain you didn't bump on anything on the way. The familiar hallways of Shereen's golden cage felt far too comforting than they had any right to be.

''Say, Klesiah.'' You began before your knight opened the heavy set oak doors leading into the palace. ''Are you still harboring Mina?''

''Yes.'' Her warm smile translated into a quiet, soothing serenity. ''All but two of her sisters had to return into Mother Earth's holy Web to maintain it, she decided to remain with me... although the goddess weakened state means she will need to rest -and rejuvenate- more often. She is currently sleeping within my soul until I find another direct connection with the Web.'' Quite the change for a shard so eager to throw her life away for mere utility.

Klesiah had grown very close with the shard, her love for Mina was a quiet, peaceful lake compared to the tumultuous heat and intense, overpowering passion that so often emanated out of her whenever you two shared a romantic moment. It may very well be impossible to separate them now. Do your feeling for Gardy manifest like this? That would be nice.

Now to somehow restore Zhu.

The palace's main hall remained grandiose despite all the damages. The space where Olga's magic nearly killed her is what gave you pause, the sheer potency of her nature was dreadful. No walls remained, pieces of roof had been shaved off, and a hole close to a meter deep had forced people to make a makeshift fence around it. The inside had turned into sharp obsidian, Olga's out-of-control magic had left a deep scar.

Zipangu soldiers patrolled the outside area while the surviving nobles of Muribel spoke with Athena and Deruella lamia's friend, some Mamonos running around wearing the distinctive cloak of Zazawu Redguard made you wonder how busy the last two days had been. The massive number of angels was impossible to conceal. Many flew in the sky incessantly while a crowd of them traveled around a large pocket of white tents near the port to help with the seriously wounded and sick.

...The lack of crowd from the capital was a grim reminder you decided not to point out.

Thankfully pragmatism wasn't the dominating atmosphere.

Ambrus and Kyorn were sitting on a bench pulled from somewhere in the middle of the palace, looking content to let time pass. The winged man had a tiny, adorable little girl sitting on his knee, a perfect portrait of a shrunk Teruko, right down with the placement of those odd white scales and a thin pale lizard tail. She had her father's hazel eyes and kept looking at all the activity with all the wonderment belonging to an infant. Are 1-year-old kids supposed to be this big?

''Arawn, you good?'' Ambrus asked when you and Klesiah walked closer.
''As much as I can be. Is that your daughter, Lisbeth?'' He nodded. ''Is it safe for kids to be here?''
>>
''We'll keep things safe, right Lis?'' Kyorn spoke gently, prompting the tiny girl to look at him. ''Siegfried girls are here too, our fluffy queens have been liberal with the uses of portals, holding em back wasn't happening.'' His effort in grimacing only earned him a head tilt.

''Is she truly one year old?'' Klesiah blurts out. Calling her charmed by Lisbeth is too weak a word, her soul is tingling with excitement for the kid.
''Heh, yup. Lizard kids come out small then fall asleep for around two weeks and just... grow. Baby phase is skipped, she's already good to walk. Pretty crazy huh? She's big enough to be 3.''
''Alraunes work similarly.'' Kyorn excitedly comments. ''Mom's gotta make a flower, the kid end up nesting in there for around two years, and they're only conscious 3 days a week until they grow past their toddler phase. The Corruption of their mom allows them to gain instinctive knowledge on how to use their abilities.'' The kid on his knee reaches out to touch one of his black wings, coaxing a loving smile out of him. ''I do feel kinda useless as a dad, just gotta tell myself I'll make up for lost time.''
''Is it safe for children here?'' You have to wonder. Can this general area be considered a demilitarized zone?

''Thousands of angels, hundreds of loyal warrior-monsters, more Supremes and heroes than I've got fingers... I'll be assuming yes.'' Ambrus chuckle. His comment about fingers prompts you to examine his hands, three fingers on his left hand and two on his right are metallic prosthetics. ''Teruko has no intention of leaving Hao alone, and I've had a good talk with Sieglinde concerning my mercs. I had a contract with her mom, now it's hers, we'll see what happens in a month or two. You holding on okay?''

''Trying, if what I'm feeling is but half of what Hao is going through...''

''Yeah.'' Ambrus nods, expression turning grim. ''Teruko's skills as a healer are the real deal and she loves your lizard knight like a second daughter, she won't be giving up on her. And hey, you know how soul link work, I haven't talked much with Hao, but I've grown to care too.'' Sometimes you wonder if your girls would have gotten so close to Shereen without your shared emotions. In the end, they had to accept your feelings and emotions for the influence to take hold.

''With her help, my nature, that of Shereen, Zipangu expertise in souls, Throne Town resources... I'm optimistic.'' He grins at your words. ''I still need to see for myself how Hao is feeling.''

That's how your exchanges with the two warrior-dads end, lingering longer will have Klesiah completely forget your existence, and probably plant a dangerous idea in her head. Mini-Teruko is mind-meltingly adorable. Despite their friendliness, lethargy gripped the men bodies. They must have pushed themselves past the limit of their endurance during the battle, they give your exit a lazy wave while returning to doing nothing at all.
>>
Good thing you called on Hadraniel to help against those scorpions. Ambrus might not be here otherwise.

Zipangu folks and Throne Town leaderships (should you call your side allied at this rate?) had made their headquarter near the pyramid of blood. The relatively open area was perfect for this purpose, the new hole made by Mother Earth meant that angels and aerial Mamonos worked perfectly as couriers. A big table stood in the middle of the room covered by a large map, and a sizeable group of eyes looked up after your entrance.

The beautiful long, curly red hair belonging to one of them made you forget, for one precious moment, your predicament. Sieglinde was not only alive, but of sound enough mind to be strategizing with Siegfried, Ame-no-Uzume, and was that Belphegor!? Oh, that angel man who saved your skin was also at the table. So were Martha, that lady snake of the Redguard (Zazawu second-in-command if you remember right), Siegfried bodyguard Mylen and... Ensan.

The inundation of guilt emanating out of the lovely redhead locked you in place. She felt awful despite her brave front.

''Heeey buddy!'' A short individual walked toward you with furry hands outstretched, her stride stopped well before getting into hugging distance. ''Not doing so good huh?''

''Belph!'' Ah, damn it. Your excitement makes you move a little too fast, resulting in jolts of pain to torture your knees and ribs. Pain is temporary, cuteness is forever, and right now Belphegor's smile is cute. Focus on that. ''Urgh... Hey, thank you for the gauntlet, it was really useful.''

''I didn't do it alone.'' She points one of those adorable finger claws at the blue-skinned demoness urging her sister off the table. ''You'll be going to see Hao, yeah? I gotta stick around here, let's catch up later lad, we need to make up for lost time. And lemme tell ya, I really wanna hug you.'' She was trying her best not to show it, but her gaze often glanced at your missing arm.

That casual cheeriness of hers was so comforting.

''We can accommodate your entire group inside Zipangu northern soul healing temple.'' Ame-no-Uzume said gently, leaning away from the map of Muribel. ''Tomiko has been doing her utmost in investigating the problems in Hao soul, recovering in a proper house of healing has been her first recommendation. You can set out this evening once my mother opens another portal.''

''Hao is near the pyramid, let's go.'' Sieglinde spoke dryly as she maneuvered away from the table. She... oozed raw, desperate sadness, only the situation necessity gave her the strength to swallow a tidal wave of emotional pain that, with your arrival, was threatening to burst forth. Nothing in her demeanor hinted at this wound; straight stance, measured emotions on her face, slightly twirling tail... Klesiah nearly absentmindedly took your hand.

Gods, the urge to hold them...
>>
The heart of Zerase palace was a little less ominous than your last visit because of the hole in the roof, Muribel harsh sun streamed inside to give organic lightning to the dreary atmosphere surrounding the Blood Pyramid.

''Ooh? Are you okay lad?'' Zazawu massive presence was, as always, the most eye-catching thing in any room. The huge monster-man limbs had regenerated, and he moved gracefully despite his size, a strange guest had climbed up his body to take a perch on his shoulder. A blue scaled lizard with a noticeably wide neck frill was holding herself in his fur, thick tongue occasionally peeked out of her lips as she observed the world below.

This angle allowed you to peek at the top of the pyramid, where Tuilelaith and Siegfried's first daughter, Kin, were sitting together, looking down to observe the activity of your group's arrival.

''Little Agathe is doing well.'' Klesiah commented, prompting the giant Zazawu maw to twist into a smile as he lowered himself to make talking easier.

''Can't swim so you oughta go with climbing, yeah?'' The little blue lizard didn't answer him. From atop her organic perch, her yellow eyes investigated the world below with near-enthralled concentration, only acknowledging people's attention with the occasional peeking tongue.

''I don't mind being a living tree, first time for everything no matter your age.'' Zazawu's chuckle sounded like a burst of wind coming out of a cave. ''Here to take a look, too?'' One of his arms motioned behind him.

Something new had appeared during your sleep at the foot of the small pyramid. It was an odd statue that looked to be made of fibers: countless threads of soft colors (gold, green, purple, and blue) entwined into the shapes of two women, Mother Earth and the Demon Lord. These colors often pulsed with energy, creating cascading waves of gorgeous colors throughout their bodies. Mana supported Daiyu gently by letting her rest on her legs, making this shiny, almost living statue one of wholesome intimacy. Two of the goddess shards lingered nearby, perhaps maintaining the artifact. The exorcist who came as reinforcement was meditating, keeping his gaze firmly planted on this pulsing statue of color, the total absence of emotions on his face likely deafened him to the world.

''Mother took all of my Corruption onto herself and transferred most of hers into me to keep me alive.'' Sieglinde spoke with a gentle voice and a quiet smile that belied the guilt poisoning her soul.

Corruption is, ultimately, a force that grows unique within each Mamonos body but is still bound by the Demon Lord influence. Perhaps blood relations played an important part in this result.

''Siggy... Don't worry about a thing, I'll help find a solution.'' Zazawu thumped his chest, creating a powerful hollow resonance. ''Your mom is sleeping with Mother Earth, that's one hell of a comforting thought lemme tell ya!''
>>
''I know.'' She glanced up at her uncle, offering him a smile that was notihng more than a mask, the guilt and pain in her soul was completely swallowing her yet... It wasn't showing. Sieglinde is the kind of person to suffer quietly by herself.

''Arawn!'' A girly voice spoke excitedly.

''Vilma!'' It is only the pain shooting up your spine when you take a step forward that stop you from hugging her.

Vilma, your dear, dear lich friend who couldn't accompany to confront Zerase looked healthy and happy. Her purple hooded cloak had been replaced with a beautiful crimson one that made her white hair and purple skin stand out even more. Holding a staff where a brilliant amethyst dwelled on its tip, her second hand kept rubbing her eyes to dry out constantly forming tears. Beside her was Shereen who hugged herself nervously.

''You're feeling some of Hao pain, aren't you?'' Your beloved princess says.

''I'll live. Don't worry about me.'' Concern replaced Vilma expression after you spoke, allowing her to regain some decorum. The girls were trying their best to ignore your lack of arm, but odd glances at your stump made it obvious time alone will dispel that source of sadness.

''Hey! Lordship! Mine-ark!'' A jolt of pain locked you in place as Hao awkwardly called to you. Unfortunately, while the agony quickly subsided for you, Hao gritted her teeth and suffered amongst concerned friends who could only watch helplessly.

Elina, Teruko (with her fairy), the crow lady expert of souls, Deruella, Ama, and Hildegarde were the ones gathered around your excitable knight who, despite the sheer torture that set her nerves on fire, still found the strength to give you a thumb up. It was a pain that emanated out of her soul, wrapping her body in energy that reality itself rejected; her life pulsed with defiant ardor but how long can she keep this up? Hao's boundless enthusiasm will start to erode under that misery, it is inevitable.

''We'll find a way to help you both.'' Vilma grasped her staff to clang it on the ground. ''My nature of death is one piece of the cure, so will yours and with all of Zipangu expert... You only need to keep holding on strong Arawn.''

''We've already figured out a way to give Hao a semi-livable state of living with my blood.'' Shereen continues, tail wagging behind her. The group of women is slowly approaching you, quickly yielding to Hao insistence.

''Thanks.'' It's all you can say, really. So many people have gathered, so many people care. ''Is Anais here? I haven't seen her or Waltier.'' You need to change the subject, or else your emotions will cause more torment.

''She returned to Kreszen with her father.'' Sieglinde answered bluntly. ''She insisted on coming back soon.''

Slowly but surely, you and your allies-nay your little bubble, your family- are turning events to your advantage. Even without you, your friends continue to move forward, you've gotta keep up.
>>
These two choices aren't mutually exclusive, choosing one simply means what you believe oughta be Arawn's priority. My health is doing better now, I might be able to finish the epilogue with this thread.

>Accept Zipangu queen's proposition and take a well-deserved rest inside her temple of soul healing. You'll be leaving today.
>Gardy is alive and waiting, the girls took their time before revealing this to you. You should really talk to him as soon as you can!
>Free

Ok, so how bad off are we? Seems like we've taken a portion of Hao's pain and suffering onto ourselves so we're probably combat ineffective from now until we resolve the agony issue. Thankfully it seems our girls are already about halfway to an effective solution. Is that about right?

Still, agony aside, are we well rested and otherwise healthy and fit for travel and/or any activity not combat related? Gardy wouldn't want us endangering our health for his sake but if we're otherwise good to go...
>>
>>5248603
>Ok, so how bad off are we?
Shield arm gone and you're suffering constant pain. You are combat ineffective but not crippled enough to lose your autonomy.
>Is that about right?
Somewhat. They've figured out a way to create a painkiller with blood magic but it's not effective.
>Still, agony aside, are we well rested and otherwise healthy and fit for travel and/or any activity not combat related?
You're ''good enough'' for that. Arawn needs more rest, he's in a similar state to Ambrus in Kyorn: you've pushed yourself well beyond your physical limit. Traveling won't endanger your health but that's because you'll be using portals.
>>
>>5248612
Ok, Gardy wouldn't want to see us in an exhausted state especially since we are missing an arm. We should rest so that when he does see us again he won't be as worried and/or feel like he somehow failed as a protector.

I mean, losing the arm will make him worry enough already but we can get a good prosthetic relatively quickly right?

Basically, rest up and spend time with the girls and do what we can to help Hao, but the instant we're fully recovered we go see Gardy. Who knows, he might know a thing or two that could help on any number of fronts.
>>
>>5248638
>I mean, losing the arm will make him worry enough already but we can get a good prosthetic relatively quickly right?
It might not be quick but getting something should be possible, especially with Belph and Martha.
>Basically, rest up and spend time with the girls and do what we can to help Hao, but the instant we're fully recovered we go see Gardy.
That means the first choice, you'll concentrate on recovering, finding a solution to Hao trouble, and getting used to your situation.
>>
>>5248643
Just out of curiosity, if we rested for but a single day what would that do for us? Like I said, we don't want to present ourselves before Gardy as a barely breathing, fighting back viscous amounts of agony, nearly about to collapse self.

If we could adequately fake being totally fine despite the lost arm after a single day than we'd do that. Again, we cannot access his data core and boy oh boy the chances of that not hurting Hao, Us, and pretty much everyone is starting to show rather hardcore.

Especially if he is "defending" the last remnants of his former charge. Even if he hasn't a clue I'd bet money she does. The sooner she gets to start making any form of a difference the better.
>>
>>5248713
You'll need more than a single day of rest to present yourself in a way that is adequate, instead of looking like the cripple you are. With the epilogue wrapping up, time management will start to lengthen now, you need to start thinking with days instead of hours.
>>
>>5248726
We can look like a cripple, but would a full day of rest make it such that we'd look better?

I am rather partial towards getting Gardy's opinion and info ASAP but I also don't want to emotionally damage best buddy to get it. Plus if we can re-fuse with him it'd probably solve our end of the problem.
>>
>>5248968
>but would a full day of rest make it such that we'd look better?
Depend on how much pain you're in. Regardless, Gardy isn't going to move so we can see how Arawn feels after some well-deserved rest.
>>
Despite the circumstances, your initial impression about today had been wrong. The constant pain was an awful thing to endure, doubly so for Hao who suffered from an intensity that made breathing torturous but having people around you... That's the true magic to heal the soul.

The hours before evening were full of discoveries. While you had no energy to try anything elaborate, helping out the girl's various hypotheses was the distraction you needed to ignore the pain, and the simple joy of being in each other's company made your trial almost bearable.

--

''I-I'll be fine. Just need a breather.''

''Holy isn't even working... damn it!'' Elina sharp intake of air sounded like a whistle. ''I'm sorry.''

''Don't be. Blood magic is giving us results. Surprise made me panic, that's all.'' Your weak grip on Elina wrist lessens to nothing as pain shoot across your arm.

''Mine expectation was for Focus to bring pain, yes. Yet it is the act of casting itself that brought agony... Hrm.'' As if she, too, hadn't lost an arm, Teruko pinched her chin while looking at you thoughtfully. ''Difficult, difficult'' the little colorful fairy commented as she rested on her shoulder. Titania had been flying around you and Hao to spread her fey dust, a stimulant for Teruko's near-unique type of magical healing.

''I should be able to endure a few spells now that I know what to expect.'' You breathe out, carefully wiping sweat off your face. Even a cloth hurts.

Embracing Focus had been something everyone around you felt dreadful to make you try, while the act itself was no trouble, attempting to create a spell poured molten lead into your already oversensitive nerves. With your soul linked to Hao, your agony traveled into her, making for a very unpleasant experience.

The last few hours were about listening to Ama and Deruella instructions in blood magic. Shereen is slowly but surely making something happen under the duo's sharp tutelage, resulting in your little sun creating a sedative with her blood by using Vilma magical nature. With Ama's help (she could process some magic by using rituals), lessening the intensity of Hao's agony became a genuine possibility... albeit one that only lasted an hour at best.

Blood magic is an immensely dangerous thing to do for neophytes because it can all-to-often result in summons rampaging into the magical bodies created by this craft (blood itself is a potent shell for Red World entities) or simply getting the wrong type of blood into the rituals. The pair of experts in the craft reduced this risk to near-nothing. Hopefully, nobody will try to stop future exercises, doing them behind guarded, closed doors remain the wisest option to avoid people's judgment. Your close allies had no choice but to accept its necessity but that wouldn't hold with the rest of the army or nobles... The angels, despite their huge numbers, do seem to accept Shereen gift for what it is. What did Ama do with them?

''I can sti-''
>>
''Don't even think about it darling, you're resting now.'' Deruella gently extinguished the smoking pipe she had been using. ''You've made amazing progress in the last two days but I'd wager you're about to hit your plateau soon. I can see your mental strain, my dear, so rest up because you'll be the only one who can give our lovely ills a good night of sleep.''

After puberty, a mage's raw potential settles into an untaped reserve that can be very quickly shaped into something useful. You're living proof of that, it only took you weeks to make excellent progress with your magic but trying to rise from that potential (instead of going wide with all kinds of spells) is the true threshold of excellence that separates talented mages from each other.

Still, what simple progress Shereen made did wonder for her self-esteem. She has a long road to mastering her unique nature, her will is there.

''It's seriously amazing that you can incorporate my nature into your magic.'' Vilma spoke gently. ''I'll always be queasy about Blood Magic but at least you're making it look natural.''

''Ah... yeah but if only we could make a genuine artificial link between us...''

''All in due time, once we get to the te-''
''Hey, hey!'' An excited voice interrupted the venerable lady crow of soul. ''I wanna help with that!''

Kin passion had her (carefully) walk to your group, her wide busy blond tail swinging around behind her, Tuilelaith waved casually a few steps behind. By now dusk had settled, Muribel's retreating sun created a pillar of reddish-orange on top of the pyramid, basking an oddly serene atmosphere inside the room that had been deserted by everyone but the exorcist and the pair of fluffs.

''What do you mean, darling?'' Klesiah was already charmed by the kid.

''See...'' The little blond pulled up her sleeve and embraced Focus, causing her veins to bulge and fill with a familiar color.

''You're a soul mage too?'' Surprise made you briefly forget your pain. It's no wonder Zipangu folks were so knowledgeable about Tsukiyomi's cure, they must have tried plenty of time with Kin but her immature magic made it impossible to help her mother.

''Yup sir.'' She let go of her gift. ''I'm having a mighty struggle with it, to be honest, buuut I've been kinda spying on you guys for the last two days, and what a fully grown soul mage can do sounds amazing so... I'm tagging along for your sojourn in the healing temple!'' She added a theatrical fist pump. ''No seriously, I've had enough of sitting around doing nothing!''

''Will your dad and moms agree?'' Klesiah asked, walking next to Kin and giving her fluffy blond ears a rub. Damn, that's making you jealous...

''I don't see why not, we'll be home and auntie Tomiko's husband is the administrator of the temple.''

''Goodness me! It'd be a joy to have you within my clan hold, princess. I do believe the only time you visited was when you could barely walk...'' Tomiko had been constantly fanning herself throughout the day and even with evening freshness settling into the room, the poor crow-lady kept looking as if she just got out of a bath. ''...with luck my daughters might have returned from their assignment but we'll see once we get here.''

''I think Agathe will come too. Y'see Arawn, I'm toootally sure she has a crush on you.'' Kin snickered, tail pointed at you. ''Both of ya suffered from the same illness or something, and she's been asking me a few things about you here and there... Heheheh''

''I'm... flattered.'' Oh gods, oh sweet Mother, the sudden prickly jealousy of the girls actually hurt. ''I'm a taken man.'' Better not say anything about her being fourteen years old, too. Her family won't be the ones to rip out your spleen.

''I'm sure it's a misunderstanding.'' Sieglinde's warm comment perfectly camouflaged her icy emotions.

''Guys, you're doing well?'' Hadraniel interruption couldn't have come at a better time. ''Siegfried is about to communicate with Tsu, have you made your decision about where to go? Portal will be opening in two hours.''

''Yeah, we'll be going into the temple.'' You responded swiftly.

''Are you sure Arawn? Gardy is in Throne Town...'' Elina wings flapped gently as she gently massaged Hao's shoulder.

''I know.'' You glanced at your missing arm, moving what was left gave you a brief nauseated feeling. ''I think our meeting will be an emotional one, I'd like to take my time when I can finally meet him again.'' Every time you mentioned Gardy, Sieglinde felt potent stabs of guilts. ''Healing comes first, he's not going anywhere.''

''Okay!'' Hadraniel clapped her hands. ''I'll be tagging along, too. I want to spend quality time with my sister, no harm in my imposing myself inside your clan, right Tomiko?''

''Goodness, being your host is a privilege, good angel of love.''

''Hm, if milady also insists on coming... it'll be quite the crowd.'' Hildegarde idly commented.

''I could also be of service.'' A gentle, yet manly voice imposed itself. The eery exorcist bowed when eyes turned to meet him.

''Forgive me for keeping my ear open to your conversations. I am an exorcist of the Scarbrand order and, if you remember, I was able to rejuvenate your magic during the battle. My body is a cauldron for spells and remedies of the divine, perhaps I can be a piece for the cure you need.'' He paused briefly to adjust his glass. ''I know I am asking much for I do not yet deserve trust... I've witnessed our Good Mother make such an intimate sacrifice with the Demon Lord; I wish to honor her will with cooperation. Mankind's duty is to help all elves and I would like to honor the woman who gave us the opportunity of victory.'' Having said his piece, the tall lanky man bowed once more and went back to meditate.

''Guess now is also a good time for me to say my piece.'' Sieglinde cleared her throat, her tail curled slightly as she tries in vain to hide her stressed feelings. ''Monsters have always believed me to be my mother's heir. I've often acted in her name, yes, but she's never been... indisposed like this before, you guys wouldn't accept it if I said I shouldn't be going into that healing temple huh?''

''Absolutely not.''
''No chance.''
''Never.''
Hao and Shereen didn't need to say anything, they radiated raw disapproval.

''I'd say it'd be much wiser for Belphegor and Martha to be seen as leaders for the length of our stay.'' Deruella failed to hide the edge of annoyance in her tone. ''Everyone knows us two used our mother authority aplenty, it's time for Martha to gain some much-needed influence for herself, I daresay our upcoming ambitious foes will dread that our family has never been so united.''

It also went unsaid that this strategy might unmask rats trying to sow discord between the sisters.

''Alright.'' Sieglinde sounded lethargic. ''Something else has been nagging at me, it'll be good to let everyone know about it before we go, too. It's about where to put the Demon Lord court.'' Her gaze lingered on you and Hao for a moment. ''Are you two feeling well?''

''Okay, good.'' Hao wiggled her fingers. ''Blood is working, for now.''

''Then let's get something to eat.''

''I'll go fetch someone, let's do it here!'' Kin raced to the exit like an arrow.

''My, isn't she just adorable?'' Teruko chuckled and, taking a moment to gaze at you and Hao, your attitudes satisfied her doctor eyes. ''I'll go fetch mine man and little one.''

It is undeniable that Sieglinde will need time and support to help with her grief, you'll have to be alert in the temple because she won't have important distractions letting her drown out the pain of her mother sealing. She's forcing herself to accompany you, her emotions scream constant frustrations at accompanying you yet she ruthlessly squashes them with pure will.

She does, however, raise a valid point.

What happened in Muribel will send shockwaves throughout the Allied Kingdoms, the Old World, and all communities of Monsters. Fortunately, the new can be contained for a while. The twenty thousand angels, while still lacking a proper unifying purpose, have agreed to guard the sealed women for the foreseeable future.
Their leader also plans on meeting you and Shereen in the temple... after your health improves. (Also, Olga has been running around to recruit two hundred angelic volunteers to bulk up the orders of rangers. She is convinced this number will be enough to control and eventually eradicate the Cursed Swamp.)

A month is a generous expectation for Muribel events to be known, which segway into Sieglinde first comment about the Demon Lord court.
>>
''It'll become widespread knowledge that we've not only housed the eldest prince of the elf but also allowed him to come to harm. Numerous times, that one-year coma happened under the supervision of my mother...'' Sieglinde dark hands tightened on the table that Zazawu himself had brought in.

''Gwen's also sharing Arawn blood.'' Tuilelaith angrily responded. ''Sure she's a Mamono now but family is family.''

''I'm afraid the elves will find it difficult to accept that.'' Matthaeus commented.

''Which makes my initial question all the more important.'' Sieglinde was quick to continue before anyone could point out the exorcist's presence. Trusting him was a hard pill to swallow for anyone, at least the man was willing to be kept on a short leash since he witnessed Daiyu and Mana joint sealing. ''Establishing a temporary court for the Demon Lord somewhere that isn't Throne Town should let us act pre-emptively depending on where we are... Although traditionally, all-important Mamonos business always took place in the capital, it is far too isolated without Mother's ability to manipulate the Throne. Can you open portals with it?'' She directed her question at the nine-tailed Tuilelaith.

''Maybe with some practice, hell if I know really. That fucking thing adapt to its new owner. And I gotta stay with Gwen to handle the coming shitstorm.''

''Hrm, I'll yield to your logic. Our home isn't exactly the best place to deal with these... complications.'' Deruella huffed in displeasure. ''Yet I've got this nagging I can't explain, establishing ourselves somewhere else feels like a mistake. Hrrrrm, I hate this, I cannot place any argument in this feeling.''

This... was undeniably the most important thing to consider before secluding yourself in Zipangu temple of soul healing. Belphegor and Martha will essentially create a temporary court of the Demon Lord away from Throne Town; a precedent that only happened in wars and even that stopped once Daiyu grew skilled enough to make portals through the Throne.

It will be where you will spend your days until you can fully establish yourself as the prince of all elves. Distance, circumstances, neighbors... So many important considerations.

One option is to further relations with Kreszen queen and negotiate a place of operation in her lands. With everything that happened surrounding the rescue of her only daughter and heir, Valda is likely to be very receptive to an outright alliance with the house of Jawahir... Waltier had made that obvious before departing with Anais.
It would make a valuable foothold into the wider political arena of the Allied Kingdoms, at the price of further isolating Kreszenz from its peers and, plenty of potential inner turmoil such an alliance would cause for the queendom.
>>
According to Hildegarde, the noble court is -still- seething about Waltier marriage to the queen, his state as a foreigner keeps hounding his numerous successes and prestigious feats in the queendom military.

An alternative would be to fully establish yourselves in the southern part of the Rangers order. With Olga being alive, coming with angelic reinforcement... Daiyu previous commitment to killing the witch could be changed to extinguishing the Swamp itself and from there, you could operate into the wider kingdoms without troubling Kreszenz too much. Although you might simply hamstring your reach.

Another option would be to establish yourself here in Muribel. You've grown to know this land, people here are going to want Ensan and Shereen dead but that's a problem to deal with as it comes. With Zerase gone, the fragile slothful theocracy will unravel by itself. All the death in the capital broke this land, most surviving nobles will undeniably raise their armies and declare independence. Without a strong, immediate central leadership, Muribel's future is one of warlords and invasions from its neighbors.

Daiyu and Mana cannot be moved, a significant security contingent will remain here no matter what. Your allies will take over the entire palace: its inner port and fortifications make it an excellent defensive position against anything but aerial assaults. Taming these upstarts, keeping order in this land, and having reinforcement from Zipangu, Throne Town potentially Kreszenz and the elves could, in all honesty, create something positive in this tragedy. Of course, there is no better option to keep Mother Earth and Daiyu safe... Perhaps establishing a distance with the Allied Kingdoms could be good, too. The kings wouldn't feel -too- pressured, although reinforcing the area where their goddess is sealed will be a majorly bitter pill to swallow.

Next is the option of operating from the Old World, specifically within the commonwealth of Gwynedd-Zipangu. You've only sojourned there for a day, but the strength of the monstrous half cannot be denied: queen Ame raised a potent army in a single day, and the bad blood between the Jawahir and No-Mikoto has all but evaporated now. With your healing of Tsukiyomi (and Agathe, everyone gives you credit for that, despite Mother Earth doing everything) Zipangu's commitment to stopping Zerase, and Sieglinde Corruption finally under control, an alliance might honestly become a reality in the future. The Commonwealth naval supremacy will make it easier for transport around Throne Town and the Allied Kingdoms, but distances remain a significant obstacle. Your future is in the Allied Kingdoms... however, being placed in the center of a potent magical kingdom could be very beneficial, and Throne Town Mamonos will be easier to manage if old enemies now come together as allies. There's no telling how the human half of the commonwealth will react, that's a problem to deal with as it comes.

Now, there is Throne Town itself. The benefits are obvious: it is the demons center of power, and while the people are proud, they've grown to respect the Jawahir authority, satisfied by their ruling Lord family's hand-off attitude to most administrative concerns... up to a point. The noble houses constantly jockey for influence and that's going to become so much worse once Daiyu situation is common knowledge, preempting that complication will save you many headaches in the future. The main problem is transport: Throne Town is isolated midway through the Red for security, making sea travel the most reliable way to exit outside of portals, and because of last year's assault on the college, Daiyu cracked down on independent opening of portals. Only a few nobles have the infrastructures -with permission- to move around with portals, most important of all Daiyu made use of the Demon Throne to travel as needed. Deruella and Sieglinde can manipulate the Throne just enough to communicate with their mother and, in an extreme emergency, open a portal directly next to her.

With her current state, that's impossible.

Learning how that thing works might save the skin of everyone you love... Moving around quickly is going to become a problem without the Demon Lord.

The Demonic Throne also houses Belphegor and Martha sophisticated laboratory. The infrastructure surrounding it might be the most technologically advanced place in the world. You can't think of a better place to further advance your study of magitek... especially since this is where Martha soul invention resides. That thing can interact with Mother Earth web...

Maybe, just maybe, it could be the breakthrough you need to interact with Zhu!

Ultimately, you'll only give your opinion on this matter. Wherever you decide to establish yourself will be very important in the coming months...

>A Tale of Monsters -the Witch End- Epilogue over.

This is a long-term decision that doesn't have to be this thread, though it would certainly help. I think I've found the source for most of my health problem too, so I'm planning of making a new thread the week after the next(I can finally plan adequately, I wasn't able to do that with this epilogue). Act 3 isn't going to start so soon, it'll be what I call an Episode, a moment where I will be completely focusing on the relationships between our main cast. Love, friendship, past traumas, ambitions, healing... probably a whole lot of romantic sex that I'll fade to black. Events aren't going to be pulling you sideways now, it's a vital break for our lovely party.

Finding a cure or solution for Hao and Arawn constant pain isn't something that I'll hold in suspense. Not only do you have the resource of a very powerful kingdom at your disposal but also plenty of supremely skilled folks willing to help, those two weeks at the temple will be a fun time lemme tell ya

So we're going to have to pick a new base of operations besides Throne Town and that's Kreszens, The border with the Swamp, Muribel, somewhere in Gwynedd-Zipangu, or just keeping it in Throne Town. Each one has significant advantages and disadvantages so we'd better pick wisely.

It also sounds like we'll be able to cure Hao and our own crippling pain problem at least to the point of us both being reliably combat effective if it comes down to that. I can easily foresee us and ours getting assassins sent after us at some point. If we can't fight when those fuckers come a knocking we're dead meat.

Also, even if we don't establish our base in Throne Town we'd still be able to access both it and the Throne itself yes? We do need to unravel its mysteries to power Ama back up to full strength and, possibly, find a way to complete Daiyu's ambition and truly fuse the races of man and mamono by enabling male human/elf/dwarf births from them. Then there'd finally be enough guys for every nice and wonderful monstergirl to find the love they deserve!

Plus we do want access to that advanced tech in Belph's lab. Gotta power up our full-fusion mode with awesome magitek weapons and armor and possibly figure out the magitek versions of critical technologies that'd set off an honest to goodness industrial revolution. Then, if we can become something akin to this world's version of Charles Babbage or Tesla... Oh boy, the stars themselves might be within our grasp!

Yeah, you'll have to establish infrastructure for portals, which is costly and time-consuming or rely on boats for travels (Gwynedd-Zipangu does have some really good ones). Belph will also assume the role of Throne Town administrator if you don't go.
>Plus we do want access to that advanced tech in Belph's lab.
Throne Town biggest advantage for sure.
