It has been 100 years since ancient beings, known as the Old Ones, walked the Earth with their two strong feet. Now they are gone and we animals now rule the remains that they left behind. With our new knowledge of sword and sorcery, we were able to survive in peace for a while, but then came the three factions.
The Apes: Strong giants, claiming to be as just as the old ones and believe they should be the ones to rule over the new world.
The Pigs: An intellectual but slothful group who wish to rule the world with an iron hoof and remain kings while the others remained as dumb animals.
Then there the Lizards: A fast and large group that want to set the world a blaze. Trying to forget the harsh past that the old ones left.
All three sides wishing to go war and destroy one another to bring in what they believe to be true peace.
But, unbeknownst to everyone, there was another group. One that was trying their best to find a way to heal everyone. To bring back order.
You found it.... and now you are taking care of it.

A D&D Homebrew Adventure.

Previously...
>The group gains two more important recruits for the troop.
>A wandering bear and a mysterious raccoon.
>The group then make themselves rich by looting every single thing they could find over at the remains of the Old Ones.
>Now they find themselves in Lizard Territory
>That's not all they have to deal with, as they also end up finding Sean and the mysterious Lanesboro there as they go out trading.
>Now our heroes regroup and hope to whatever god they pray to there is not going to be any fights soon.
Will our heroes survive... maybe.
>>
Will probably be late tomorrow, maybe even by several hours more than usual. Not sure how that affects anyone else's plans considering that we'll probably mostly just be buying stuff and RPing, assuming we don't screw up and alert the lizards to our presence or something. Sorry in advance.

>You all then return to camp.
>There you see Jenkins and Bobby's two other cats making some sort of smoked meat meal.
>Smells like turkey.

>Wanting to make sure it is fully cooked.
>She then noticed you all there.
"Oh hey. How was your little shopping trip, did you all sell what you needed?"

Kinny sniffed the smell with a smile... before pulling out and dropping the pouch of money on the grass in front of everyone. "1100 platinum is what we got, not enough time to grab any equipment, though." The cat announced to everyone. "Did anyone see Einstein? He was supposed to find you with a message."
>>5626225
Outrageous, heretic, ai-generated, disgusting, fabrication of a perverse (probably canine, possibly aquatic, most certainly wretched) mind. This... this has never happened, you have no proof, you have no right right, just no, no, no! I WILL NOT STAND THIS SLANDER. You will be talking to my human very, VERY soon, SIR.
>>
>>5626695
"You mean the talking mouse. He just asked for a piece of cheese and then headed inside the tent. Mentioned something to us about avoiding a husky named Sean. Never specified why though. In fact I don't think he was completely happy with what he was saying. So... who exactly is this Sean?"
>>
>>5626697
"Me and Mog have met this fellow back in Xana, he offered us a completely innocent opportunity to ride his car out of town at night, just as we would finish the job of stealing (You), which he shouldn't know anything about." The cat then gestured "Later Einstein himself told us he was in on the whole human-fridge thing. I believe he tried to lure us into a trap back in Xana, although I don't know his intentions at all." Kinny then pointed towards the town. "We just saw him in the town, he seems to stay in the tent with sword and shield."
>Kinny goes to the tent to find Einstein and talk to him for a minute

>He seems happy about eating some comfort food without being in the bag.
>He then notices Kinny entering the tent.
"Is something wrong Kinny? Did I do something wrong?"
>>
>>5626730
"No, I just wanted to clear up some things. When we first met Sean with Mog, it seemed as though he knew about the Pigs' plan to 'steal' Maggie, did he ever tell anyone about it?"
>>
>>5626743
"Sean is a good dog. He always talked to us. He made sure everything was safe after Atreyu was done with her shift. He was Swift's right paw hound. Sure he goes out a lot to sell some stuff but everyone has to make money. Th-... that's what he told us. He never exactly told us what it was he was selling. But I don't think he would ever try selling one of the humans in the pods to the pigs. Never. Grandpa reassured me so."
>>
I'll wait for Mog to join this conversation cause I honestly don't know who to trust here. I did assume that Sean was gonna fuck us over, but looking over the 1st thread, he could've genuinely wanted to give us a ride at 12PM. The word slip he had there about helping "people" would be explained by the fact he was in on this thing. I just don't know anymore.
>>
Wonder where Ursus and Simon are?
>>
>>5626759
For Ursus... new thread might catch him off-guard, idk. Surprised me too, but at this point I've just set up an alarm for Tuesdays, lmao. Raccoon either got irritated by my whining or... was a troll. My original point about him was that on meta level, it was a character so bad that the player was either completely tone-deaf or designed it purely to fuck around for his amusement.

I guess Mog met his neighborhood dog catcher. Shame, really wanted his input on the mouse thing, kinda dunno what to do now since I'm out of the loop on our current plans. Yeah, yeah, money completely took over this cat's head.
>>5626818
Sup Ursus. What do you think your role will be in the team? I thought you'd be swinging the axe more, but you seem more interested in cooking... which is neat, because Kinny can't cook for the life of his. Asking OOC, btw.
>>
>>5626832

The lizard scale male
>>
>>5626841
Give Maggie her new armor if it doesn’t fit I can always just adjust it manually via sewing and adjusting the size
>>
>>5626841
That smells and looks lovely what did you use to season the turkey?
>>
>>5626841
"Finally, some good fucking food!" Kinny's tongue slipped at the unexpectedly exquisite smell of the turkey. "Can all humans cook this well?" The cat demanded to know, while standing *very* close to Maggie, practically bumping into her leg as he started at the meat impatiently.
>>5626837
When I hear bear bruiser I imagine you just extending your paws forward and nonchalantly dropping your entire weight onto someone. Bear physics are funky in my head.
>>
>>5626854
I mean you’re not wrong but imagine that with an axe
>>
>>5626854
I can also use a rifle although I wish to gain full expertise in it before using it in combat
>>
>>5626840
>>5626842
>>5626847
Remember Ursus it's still on hold over at Poco's tent.
"Oh. Thanks.... I think.... so just for clarification this isn't actually made from like dead lizards or anything like that right?"

>>5626841
>>5626850
>>5626854
>Apparently finding natural spices was something Maggie was good at.
>Hell she wasn't even expecting herself to be a cook at all
>Especially when it came to a big bird such as the giant majestic Turkey.
>She then gave everyone a fair portion of turkey.
>Especially Ursus since he was the biggest of the group.
"Really wish I could make something like mashed potatoes to go along with it."
>Maggie says as she eats her fair share of the bird.
>>
>>5626865
Potatoes, those are tubers right?
On the lizard scale male sadly it is but it’s better than nothing besides if you dislike it you can wear something under the armor
>>
>>5626865
Upon getting his share, Kinny devoured the turkey in no time, purring loudly as when was finished and licking his paw, he asked. "This is some rare talent you've got. Some of best taverns I've been to would kill to have a cook like this." The cat then begun a long and thorough process of cleaning his shiny black fur.
>>5626859
Now I imagine you falling onto an axe, which is firmly stuck in the ground and then the axe falling onto the target like it's some lethal domino.
>>5626862
Now you've got my attention. Right, I actually considered training how to reload guns on flat surface (putting pressure with paws, using teeth), so I could just hop on your back and reload weapons you've fired so you can cycle through guns. Granted, it's not necessary and probably wouldn't do much, I just liked the idea.
>>
>>5626872
"Yeah that's exactly what a potato is."
>Maggie winced at the suggestion that an armor would be made out of a dead intellectual being.
>Then again would it be different than wearing the skin of a dead animal for clothing or armor.
>Still if she was going to survive in this world, much like the talking mouse, she would have to get used to it.
"Sw- swell..."

>>5626873
"Well if I ever get captured and they want me alive, I'll be sure to tell them that I can at least cook."
>>

>>

"They didn't seem to have cat-sized jumpsuits, did they? Or black leather straps? I could really use some better equipment just in case we run into more problems."
>>
>>5626910
Oh they had diamond cat armor but it’s extremely expensive even for us at the moment
>>
>>5626912
>made for kittens. Made of diamonds, sells for 10,000,000 silver
>>
>>5626894
>>5626904
Bugs are really big. A praying mantis that Kinny and Mog fought was about human size. So bees in this universe are probably bigger than the average bee. Maybe the size of kittens. Sorry for the late response. Mostly eating lunch now.

"W- that can't be real. There is no way they put actual diamonds on an armor... But anyways, I don't need an armor, thankfully... well, not heavy one, that is." Kinny got a bit worked up hearing about diamonds in his area.
>>
Well since I have a census of what’s available and we have the means to purchase food/resources we will need for the coming trip shall we quickly stock up?
>>
>>5626881
"That seems like a detailed list you have here. Plan on making something really good?"
>Maggie asks the bear.

>>5626912
>>5626917
>>5626944
>Maggie was just as stunned as Kinny.
>A whole set of armor.
>For a cat.
>Made entirely of diamonds.
>For a shit ton amount of silver.
>She wasn't the only one who heard it.
>Bobby and her men heard it as well.
>Bobby's men immediately try leaving to try and steal it.
>But not before Bobby caught them by the tail.
"Who owns the shop?"
>Bobby asked the bear.

>>5626940
>>5626943
>The thoughts of Ursus were completely filled with owning a pet bee along with owning a bee farm someday... unless he did have one at one point.
>>
>>5626959
That would be poco an extremely buff cat he looks like he could strangle a dragon
I suspect it was originally used by him but he might have retired
>>
>>5626959
I did own a farm I had to leave it to after killing kar
>>
>>5626964
>Bobby gave her men a stern stare.
"Men we are not stealing that armor. That goes for everyone here. Poco is our friend and we are not going to steal from him. End of discussion."
>The female bobtailed cat seemed very strict with this order.
>The look on her face telling everyone, she will allow Poco to beat the shit out of them if they disobey this order.

>>5626966
Were there any bees there?
>>
>>5626966
The bastard
>>
>>5626971

>>
>>5626964

Kinny chuckled upon hearing Poco's name. "Of course. But do you think that armor is real? Why'd he put real diamonds on armor?" The cat addressed Bobby, curious what the deal with her massive friend-in-crime was.
>>
>>5626977

"Ask the potion seller for that shit. Maybe two bottles or so."
>Bobby orders.
"Make it ten!"
>Maggie tells the country bear.

>>5627050
"First thing General Harvey taught us how to use."
>Maggie replies.

>>5627035
"Ask Kinny for them though....."
>Bobby replies as she points to the bag of platinum.
"Though he should still have some gold coins he can spare I believe. Isn't that right Kinny?"
>Bobby says to Ursus as she pats Kinny's shoulder.

>>5627056
"Probably no. Well maybe auction it off if we are lucky. Then again there would be too much contest for it."
>>
>>5627064
Ok kinny I’m gonna go get the scale male armor pounds of food two buck knives and 11 bottles of soap
>>
>>5627035
"Well I... have no idea how much is this going to cost so..." Kinny pulled out 50 gold, 100 silver and 100 copper coins and handed them over to Ursus. "Here, this should cover everything. Buy some milk for is if you can, Poco might have it if no one else does." The cat added.
>>5627028
And also, is everything good?
>>5627064
I guess economy, supply and demand work a bit different in this world than I expected. I thought this was some half-abandoned town and Poco just made this armor he could never hope to sell to anyone, unless a millionaire just so happened to be passing by. Mog was the last to arrive back in camp.

"Hey, guys, I have something important to tell yo - what's that smell? Smells delicious." Any worry over the potentially immortal rabbit left Mog with his breathe out. He ran over to get his share.

Munch, munch, munch.

Rapturous, stupendous, absolutely sublime! Whoever made this must've been divinely inspired. Was it Bobby again? She did make the mantis meat last time. Or Ursus? He seems culinarily inclined.

"Who made this? They should start a restaurant, this is the best turkey I've ever eaten." Effusive praise for great talent, a rare occurrence in this violent world.

"Oh, and I got a bunch of soaps and shampoos from the potion seller already. We already have a bunch of frozen food in the food crate too, so rations aren't an issue. It'd be nice to get a week's worth of fresh food for the road though." Mog said. There was something important he had to say, but it could wait until he finished this meal.

>>5627056
Caught up. I'll think over it for a second and give you my answer in character once someone actually tells me about it IC.
>>
>>5627086
All credit goes to Maggie
>>
>>5627077
I'm fine, just had some other stuff I had to do. Had to cook my late lunch as well. Also, from what I understand this is a fully occupied city. We are in the "flea market" outskirts outside the walls, the lizard occupy the actual city beyond the walls. Hence our caution, this is a fully garrisoned city with military units it sounds like to me.
>>
>>5627086
>>5627089
"Um... thanks. I just cooked it with rosemary I found around here and smoked it to perfection."
>Maggie answered.
"I mean it wasn't that hard to make. I just immitated what my dad did."
>>
>>5627089
"Maggie? You don't say?"

Mog looked over to the human, acknowledging her with a deep nod of his head. "You're the best cook I've ever had the pleasure of eating from. Truly worthy of being called an Old One. Maybe we should stock up on salt and spices, herbs too. I could get used to eating like this."
>>
>>5627083
"Oh, that's fine then."
I hope Mog doesn't bite me for giving you 50 gold, lmao. He shouldn't, since we're far richer than that, but we gotta split some funds between us soon, for the sake of not-having-to-ask-the-money-cat. I guess the bear's money needs are satisfied for a bit now. Also very comfy. Good to have someone who cares about our living conditions.
>>
>>5627093
There’s a story in that I’m interested in but it can wait until I get back
>>
>>5627096
Don't worry about it. The stuff about the splitting of money was just based off precedent and presumed IC motivations. OOC if any of us needs money we should freely share it. Not to mention even if we split it as designated before and Ursus/Simon (if he is even still playing) got nothing, each of us would still be free to give them some spending money from our own share. Also, remember, we have 1400 platinum, not 1100, we also had the briefcase of silver that I gave you to turn into plat. I say we split the plat right now with the previously agreed split, as that makes the most sense IC, then we freely share some of the wealth with Ursus. OOC we'll share it all evenly, but IC it makes sense for us to keep the split previously agreed on, not to mention it is better to disperse our wealth so that it is not on just one person who could have their bag of holding stolen or be killed and left behind if we have to retreat one day.
>>
>>5627086
>>5627095
The cat waited for Mog to finish and handed him 50 gold, 100 silver and 100 ¢opper. "Here, just so we all have some spare on us." He then followed up by telling the late-howler about his Sean-sighting and Einstein's opinion of the husky. The rogue seemed a bit confused with this situation - not willing to entirely trust the impressionable young mouse and well aware that if Sean was against them, letting him know they were here could have bad consequences.
One piece of info I'm missing OOC is what he actually said he does. Did he say he's a legit blacksmith or a collector/reseller too? If he claimed to be 100% a blacksmith, then he lied, as Kinny saw him buy the same lightning daggers from a shady kangaroo dealer.
>>
>>5627106
Kinny said 1100, because that's how much they got from Poco for the metal bars. I'm not sure where does extra 300 come from, is it from the briefcase? I... actually don't remember any briefcase x.x Classic Kinny L.

"Already had some spare change from the mantis meat I finally sold, but thanks. We should probably split the platinum now. 30% to Bobby's gang as previously agreed, split 10% between Jenkins and Ursus, the rest for you and me, maybe give some to Maggie as well. Though if we're gonna be a warband then we ought to share the wealth freely, but this is just to keep our prior agreements, gotta keep our word and all that. Shouldn't hold all the wealth in one place where it could be pick-pocketed." Mog said.

He then listened to his faithful companion's story about Sean. Answers didn't immediately come, he struggled to remember the encounter weeks ago.

"I...think Sean was working with either the pigs or Lanesboro, I'll explain what I mean in a sec, just gimme time. Actually, best we gather everyone around first for this, everyone should hear this."

So you want me to confront Sean or at least listen in on his conversation
>>
>>5627118
See ya on Thursday then, sorry for being late. I think I'll try and finish this last bit with Kinny if he is up for it.

>>5627115
Yeah, the previous session we got 1100 plat from the vault bars of silver and gold, but I also mentioned I would've given you the briefcase to turn into platinum, since it is heavy to carry around. Hence me repeatedly reminding you last time about it being 1400. We got the briefcase of silver bars from the pigs that the mantis killed near the end of session 1, Tweed and his pigs. There was 30000 silver in there, our payment for the job before the mantis ate them.
>>
>>5627126
Please, god no. We should avoid him like the plague. I think he is connected to Lanesboro, not to mention all he has to do is tell the lizards about us and we guarantee TPK. Plus he'll have Kinny's OP lightning daggers that do like 4d4 lightning damage each throw, we'll die if we have to fight him. If anything I'd hope Kinny fetches you before you leave so I can explain what is going on IC.
>>
>>5627131
Ooooooooh that is terrifying
>>
>>5627121
Based on thread 1 and context we have, Sean could just as well be genuinely working with mice and on our side, as Einstein said he was in on the secret. There isn't any indication to his bad will I think, the only lead is checking what he said about the daggers to catch him on a lie, but I didn't check that (and don't wanna now). The whole "hours sus" thing... could be just QM taking a short route ignoring possible suspicion, idk. Didn't read through whole archive, just ctrl+F'd points of interest. Gl.

"Okay, here's my train of thought. When we first exited Moses the Bear's bar in Xana, the lizard called Sean a blacksmith. Makes sense, a blacksmith makes tools, armour and arms. But he also said he was selling my broadsword for half price, not something that makes sense under any circumstances, metal is valuable, as is a blacksmith's labour, there's no way that makes sense. When we looked at the goods they all looked like they were found, not made in that little metal carriage of his. Hell, he sold your lightning daggers for 40 silver Kinny." Mog walked a circle around the assembled group, it helped jog his memories. He was aware these weren't the juicy details the group wanted to hear, but it was part of the process and he was getting there.

Continuing he said "Anyways, I remember trying to see how his metal carriage worked. He noticed and offered me a ride to the next town over and back, told him to meet him at the south entrance to town. I think I did a fair impression of an Old One's tech enthusiast to throw him off, but - anyways, he was in a hurry to leave at 10 PM, the time our heist started. But *just* for us he was willing to wait until midnight, even though he didn't know us. Weirder still, he changed his mind and wanted to meet us in the forest instead of the south entrance to town. Thinking back on it he also let it slip that he knew about humans too, but more importantly he told me to 'be sure to be quiet tonight'." He paused for effect.

He was getting to the important bits. "Now why would he say that? The timing was WAY too perfect to be coincidental, and he would have no reason to say that unless he knew we were doing the heist, ergo he must've been in contact with the pigs. He also wanted to leave in the dead of night, odd given his initial offer was presented as a sightseeing tour out the goodness of his heart because of my supposed interest in his carriage. At first I thought he was a slave trader, then I thought he was working with the pigs to preemptively narrow our escape options by making us think we had an easy getaway driver in anticipation of us double-crossing the pigs, now I'm certain this was all connected." He took a breathe.

This was the important bit that connected everything together.

"Hear me out, I met Lanesboro, one of the names on Tweed's list of buyers for humans. He's in town, he's the magic shop owner, odd fellow, had to pry his name from him, seemed very young, tried to sound younger than I think he is too, wouldn't be surprised if he was an immortal archmage or something with how things have been going and how often my intuition is right. He walks on two feet, and he's enchanting my broadsword as we speak. This is where the dots connect. Sean is in town, he likely isn't the maker of the daggers, but a scavenger or maybe even an Old One factory owner, he gets them from the kangaroo. Lanesboro is also coincidentally in town. The pigs knew Lanesboro. So did Sean.-" 1/2

>>5627143
>>5627133
>>5627178
"Else how would he know about our heist? He sold Elder Swift and the humans out for greed. Then his offer of a ride to us was simply either a way to ensure we didn't escape or alternatively he also double-crossed the pigs, instead intending on delivering us to Lanesboro himself in order to get the payment all to himself or to ingratiate himself with the clearly very wealthy mage. Or perhaps he intended to sell us out to the lizards instead, it is odd Lanesboro is on the outside of town instead of in the city center despite being a powerful and wealthy mage. That is speculation though, maybe he gets the scraps the lizards deem him worthy of and don't think is absolutely necessary to destroy. Most of that hypothetical stuff though is based on the lizard merchant in Xana having a high opinion of Sean though, it probably isn't true. Can't generalize based off one lizard's opinion of him, that's a bit too speciecist for me. Anyways, to conclude, I think the chain of logic goes something like this; the pigs learned of the the humans in Swift's barn through Sean, but Sean was coy with the knowledge and merely hinted at the existence of an artifact, hence the pigs not knowing about the humans, this was to get them to foot the bill for payment of mercenaries, us in other words, he then intended to double-cross them, maybe he even arranged the mantis to be there, but he fucked up and we got away. The pigs and Sean knew Lanesboro, Sean isn't who he says he is, he has access to too much Old One tech and sells it for dirt cheap, like an arms dealer really. Sean is probably trying to ingratiate himself either with the lizards for human scraps but most likely to Lanesboro. When I go to pick up my sword from the rabbit later tonight, we should all go except maybe Maggie, we should expect trouble. Maybe nothing happens, there's no reason for it to, but we should be prepared now and in the future for a conflict with Lanesboro until we know his intentions."

Mog breathed out, that was a mouthful. He waited for reactions to his conspiracy theory.
>>
"Oh, yeah, and Sean also mentioned having to meet up with an old friend. He cut off my line of questions to vamoose rather suddenly. I think he was either meeting with Moses, maybe Swift, but more likely in my eye is that he knew Tweed and was setting him up to get eaten by the mantis or something."

>>5627178
"Of course Lanesboro's in here too, why wouldn't he?" Kinny murmured before speaking up. "I can, of course, confirm what Mog sais happened in Xana," the cat nodded, "what he seems to have missed, however, is the fact that me and Bobby saw our blacksmith buy theshe," the rogue pulled a crackling Lightning Dagger out of his sheath to demonstrate, "from a fucking kangaroo. That's hardly how I imagine smithing to function."
Kinny then turned to Einstein and explained. "And that is why I told you not to say hi to Sean and tell others to avoid him."
>>5627193
"This Lanesboro... what is he? And since you think he's a powerful mage, don't you find it weird he's enchanting weapons for a pocket change? Why trust him your sword?"
I think I might have to cut off here, too. Will respond tomorrow or thursday. Goodnight everyone.

I did actually mention the kangaroo and the daggers, but I know it is a pain to read the whole wall of text closely. I figured you told me here >>5627111 but just chose to summarize rather than type out all the dialogue.

"Lanesboro has no reason to know exactly who we are yet, I figured it was safe. I suppose he could scry on us to find out, or if my theory is right then Sean could've told him that he sold me that particular broadsword or about our appearances, but it is a stretch for even a genius like Lanesboro to be 100% sure it is us based off a description of a sword that looks like any other or of a description of a wolf. We are near Canis Lupin, there should be plenty of wolves around, it'd be odd for him to figure out it is me so quickly. But hey, if I lose the sword, well, I'm hardly unarmed now am I? I've got plenty of gear that is almost as good. No idea why he is just screwing around playing petty merchant though, personally I think he's an old archmage, probably been alive since the start of the Awakening 100 years ago, maybe even before that if he is of similar nature to what I think Simon may be."
>>
>>5627208
>>5627224
Mog nodded, appreciative of the companionship. "Together then."
>>
>>5627208
>>5627224
I think that is enough to wrap us up for today, I guess I'll see you all this Thursday. Again, apologies for being late. We still have some shopping to do, we shouldn't let the opportunity to get top end gear for our level pass us by, not when we have so much portable wealth available. Any mercs for hire or information to be gathered should also be bought here if possible, we dunno when we'll be in a populated town again. This would also be a good time for new PC party members to join, but that isn't up to us, so meh.
>>
>>5627235
Fuck. I don't find your walls of text painful and I've read everything, but apparently skimmed over right after you finished talking about Lanesboro and got to summing up Sean in the first post. Didn't even know I skimmed over anything until now.
"Well, you make a good point. I would like to learn more about this Lanesboro and thanks to Bobby we have a guy who might know something and not ask any questions."
Looks like we might be returning to the town, lol.

>Feeling a bit left out for a bit.
"I'm guessing that I am going to be left out of this one too?"
>Maggie asks the group of animals.
"Sorry kid, but we can't exactly bring you to someone who was trying to buy you in the first place."
>Bobby responds.
"Besides, I think everyone here agree you are not for sale."
>>
>>5628878
"Well it looks like that. Sorry, Mag."
The cat was ready to go to town, but he waited for others to get ready.
Literally just gonna wait a bit to see if Mog and/or Ursus show up so we can all be on the same page and avoid confusion about who's where and when like last time.
>>
>>5628873
No worries, just wanted to check if we were on for today. Should probably be a relaxed shopping session for the most part today, so if you have to leave to go do something part way through the day it'll probably be okay.

>>5628878
"Sorry Maggie, but she's right. Bringing you to someone who has unknown intentions towards you isn't the best idea, and if there's a fight we don't want you to be on the scene when the lizards come rolling in. If you think it is worth the risk then we can try gauging his knowledge and intentions regarding humans, but it may tip him off to you, or at least that we know more than we should." Mog explained.
>>
>>5628887
Oh hi, didn't notice you there. Sorre.
>>5628878
What Mog said. I suddenly really want a jumpsuit for cat.
>>
>>5628885
>>5628887
"Fair enough."
>Maggie said defeated.
"But if you guys do need my help you better tell me."
>>
>>5628889
Hi.

>>5628896
"Have one of the cats keep an ear out, they'll heard if there's trouble. Just don't come busting in for just any series of loud noises, the meeting is during the night but there's still enough nocturnal and crepuscular animals around that'd it'd be risky to rush in over a false alarm."

>>5628885
"Lets split the platinum as previously agreed, we can fiddle with know carries how much or how much each of us is entitled to later, but we oughtta each have some spending money for major purchases. Plus, we don't want some lucky pick-pocket nabbing your bag of holding and getting all the money." The wolf was ready to go, all there was to do was wait for the bear to finish eating and then they could spend more than any of them had ever had in their life times.
>>
>>5628896
"I'll send Einstein screaming if anything happens." Kinny said, pulling the mouse out of the tent and placing him in the Einstein-pocket. "Come on, you."
>>5628905
"Nobody's gonna try and steal a mouse-sized rucksack, thinking it's a bag of holding containing thousands-worth of platinum, Mog. And besides, it's on ME of all people. And I have a mouse in my backpack to alert me of thieves and bite their paws off in necessary!"
>>
>>5628908
>Einstein went towards Kinny the cat.
>Getting in his usual position of staying in his pocket.
>He did poke his head out though.
>Just to ask one question.
"Do I really have to bite paws off. Grandpa told me it was rude to bite people. Then again I am defending myself in the process."
>The mouse asked you.

>>5628905
"Oh yeah. You guys can actually see in the dark. Meanwhile I can't see jackshit."
>Maggie reminded herself.
"Alright fair enough. But if we are going to split the money I'd like to give half my share of the loot to Ursus. Can't really spend it here. So might as well give Ursus a bit more spending money so he can get us food.
>>
>>5628912
"Well, you're right - not OFF. But you can bite them or at least be sure to alert me if someone tries to steal the bag of holding, alright?." The cat responded, scratching his chin.
>>
>>5628908
"Maybe," Mog fixed Kinny's orange eyes eyes with his own, "but better be safe than sorry, urchins don't need great incentives to nab anything they can get their paws on. We'll attract attention when we're in town and we're emptying hordes of platinum from a single small bag eventually. It'd be wise to disperse the wealth in case we split up like earlier as well."

>>5628912
The mouse drew his attention, rare given Mog often forgot that he even existed. "It's for the good of the party Einstein, even little mice should learn how to fight."

He then turned to Maggie. "Fair enough, though in a friendlier town I think you'll be fine to enter. Just...these are lizards we are talking about."
>>
>>5628928
"I assure you I can't be pickpocketed. Not after years of smuggling things west and east, north and south of the border." Kinny was annoyed with the implication just any thief could go through him, let alone when he had just put a mouse on guard. "How much do you say we should split, anyway?"
I don't think QM would want to take this from us, nor do I think Einstein would let anyone just try and run through my pockets.
>>
>>5628938
>>5628928
"Mind if I ask how much I was supposed to get."
>>
Sorry for the lack of posts. Also sorry for asking a question for the last one. We've gotten into many debates about how we should split the money I kind of lost track on what we have agreed upon.
>>
>>5628938
>>5628942
Mog resisted the urge to roll his eyes, of course he should've realized sooner that Kinny's ego was at stake. He was certainly justified by his years of success in the cutthroat underworld.

"Then your cut of the platinum will be the most secure of all, I'll be sure to come crying to you for a loan when we get our purses cut." he joked.

Pausing to remember the previous arrangement he stared up at the sky. After a moment he said "As per our prior agreement with Bobby, 30% of the briefcase silver converted to plat to her and her gang, the rest to us. For the vault 10% split between Jenkins and Ursus, just so they get their cut of being part of our band, though Ursus will get an even share of all our future ventures from now on as he is a fighting member of our party. The remaining 90% split evenly between you, me, Maggie, and Bobby. Maggie already said to give her share to Ursus, so there's that settled."

True, I don't think the QM is gonna be rolling random encounter tables for street urchins in every city we go to. But I also remember the insane explanations for your failed rolls, the bonkers "there's mice in the walls that detected our fire and put it out as a consequence of your failed stealth wall and they can hear us but we can't hear them AND that's on top of them simply detecting you, which would've been the normal consequence for failing a stealth check" or the mind-boggling "the hellbot digs through literal meters of concrete, dirt, and vault steel to kill you and somehow the alarm signal reaches it through meters of signal obstructing terrain". Not to shit on QM too hard, he is hosting the hella fun game we are playing after all, but you never know when some bullshit might crop up. No offence QM.
>>
>>5628938
"Oh, but you can keep the insane amount of copper from the vault until we get it converted. No one else can carry it after all. The silver coins we ought to split eventually, so as to have something other than platinum to pay for basics with, wouldn't want to attract too much attention. For now the cash you doled out is good enough for those purposes though."
>>
>>5628960
So just to make sure I understand this right, we are splitting the 300 platinum from the Briefcase between Bobby(30%), Mog (35%) and Kinny(35%)? Or does "the rest to us" mean Maggie as well? We are NOT doing vault funds now, they are in over 7 million coins of different values still.
>>5628962
...great minds think alike
>>5628958
Dw, I fully expect (ed) Mog to pull out the %ages we agreed upon and what money it applies to. Although I'm not so sure about how we'd even split it up right now, given the fact Kinny is the only one who can carry large amounts of money.
>>
>>5628960
No offense taken at all my friend.

>>5628960
>>5628962
"Sounds fair enough."
>Maggie agreed.
>She then gave half of of her share of the loot to Ursus.
"Be sure not to spend it all on one place big guy."
>>
>>5628966
(She's got nothing yet, but let's assume she's giving it symbolically, so now we can cut her out of the deal once we actually do the split.)
>>
>>5628965
Yes. Maggie not included in that. Also agreed on not splitting the coins right now, too much time and work, we wanna move on to shopping/RP/whatever else.

True.

Platinum is pretty heavy from what I remember, but we are splitting it multiple ways and coins probably aren't that heavy. Remember, Bobby has her strong cats to carry shit, Ursus and I carry hundreds of pounds, and I think Ursus may get a bonus for carry capacity for being a size larger than me.

>>5628966
>>5628968
I think we're mostly settled on the split, lets move on if all is agreed upon.
>>
>>5628977
>>5628968
"Alright. Just go ahead and do what you need to. Buy what you need and maybe find another way into Canada."
>Maggie says as she stretches.
>Bobby also stretches as well.
"Well I'm taking my share and going to go to the nearest tavern to get some fermented fruit."
>Bobby says as she then goes to get her share of the money.
"Fermented fruit?"
>Maggie asks the bobtail.
"It's an adult animal thing. Kid like you would never understand."
"So... you are going to get high?"
"My money I can do what I want with it."
"Either by fruit or if I'm lucky if they have the nip."
>>
>>5628960
>>5628987
"Alright, fine fine fine. We'll split the briefcase money now if you INSIST." Kinny reluctantly pulled out the coin pouch he got from Poco. It was a nice pouch, with light pattern dyed on two sides. Must be a complimentary thing, based on how big the transaction was. "Right. 95 Platinum for Bobby and her Boys, 105 Platinum for Mog... 105 Platinum for me." The cat handed out 300 coins total (his share went through Einstein, and back into his pack), which took about 10 minutes. "That's all for the briefcase, Mog."
Updated, noted and saved on sheet and in notepad.
>>
>>5628988
"30 plat for each of us boys. I'll be taking the extra five plat though."
>Bobby Henchmen 1 has 30 Platinum.
>Bobby Henchmen 2 has 30 Platinum.
>Bobby has 35 Platinum now.
"Alright. So I'm only going to spend about one coin over at the tavern. What you going to do Mog and Kinny?"
>The female bobcat asked.
Well Mog and Kinny what do you want to do over at the town of Plato?
>>
>>5628998
"I might go look around for a jumpsuit and a better finesse weapon than my regular daggers. Will hit tavern to wash down that turkey." Kinny answered the bobtail, before turning to Mog
>>5628977
"And you?" He asked.
>>
>>5628987
>>5628988
>>5628998
"I'll stop by the armour shop, the one not run by Sean. Might as well upgrade while we can. After that, it is probably off to the jewellry shop to see if they have any enchanted trinkets there. How about you Kinny?"
>>
>>5629021
>>5629023
Well, that is what I get for not refreshing. Just imagine I don't ask the last bit about Kinny since he asks me first.
>>
>>5629023
>>5629021
>It was then time to head back into town.
>Good old Mog soon went inside Poco's armory.
>Along with Kinny because of the idea of possibly finding a jumpsuit there.
>The Cat and Wolf duo soon looked around.
>Then they soon meet the buff cat.
"Welcome to Poco's shop. What can Poco do for you? Poco very busy kitty. So you come to buy armor or no?"
>>
>>5629030
"I don't suppose you have any jumpsuits for rogues?" Kinny asked, seeing mostly steel around. "I've also heard you have a diamond armor to sell, and that got me thinking, are you going to melt the bars we traded into an armor or weapons as well?"
>>
>>5629030
Jeez, that's a buff cat alright, like, he's a real chonker.

"Got anything better than this here chain armour? Oh, and anything magical as well?"
>>
>>5629045

"Poco cannot say what he does with bars of gold and silver. Only Poco knows. As for jumpsuit... Poco will check in the back. In the meantime you can look at Poco's dismond armor made for kittens like you."

>>5629045
"Only magical item is that armor made of diamonds. Diamonds has magical property. Because Poco say so. And because Poco say so, it true. Now...."
>Poco then gave some warm milk to the wolf.
"Drink your milk baby puppy. Poco sees you still have many years left so make sure you are strong and help bones get strong too. As for better armor... there is plate mail I am selling. Not that good of plate mail though. But you may check it out."

"That's the guy who bought the bars and briefcase, by the way. He's Bobby's associate." Kinny whispered to Mog when Poco's left. "He seems to be very fond of milk."
>>5629059
The cat then went on to admire the diamond armor, wondering what it would be like to have become a warrior instead of a rogue. Alas, it wasn't really a possibility with his pedigree.
>Rolling Investigation to see if all diamonds are real
>Also pulling out the pigs' diamond for comparison, wondering whether Poco might be interested in buying it
>>
>>5629059
Mog looked bewildered, glancing down at the tiny yet girth-y cat, then further down at the milk in his paws. "Baby...puppy? Friend, I'm probably twice your age."

He sullenly took the milk anyways and enjoyed the milk, hospitality was appreciated where ever it came. "...Thanks."

"I'll buy the plate armour, I'm not very stealthy anyways with my bum leg."

>>5629066
Mog tilted his head quizzically at the new info. "Really now? A friend in every town it seems. You cats really do get around."

Upon see Kinny pull out the diamond he said "If Poco isn't interested in it then I'm sure the Jeweler I'm seeing after this would be."
>>
>>5629066
>You can see that the diamonds are in fact real.
>Real pure white diamonds.
>No wonder that price is ludicrous as it is.
>Maybe you do have a chance when it comes to selling your diamond here.

>>5629074
"Poco be with you in a bit baby puppy. Poco getting the armor baby kitten asked for. Still looking."
>>
>>5629084
"Take your time, the fitting ought to be done right." Mog said, laying down to rest and enjoy his milk.
>>
>>5629074
>cats get around
"Like wolves don't. It's like there was a pack or two in almost every forest I used as a detour when carrying certain things." The smuggler responded sluggishly, eyes patiently glued to the diamonds.
>jeweler
"Well, seeing this thing," Kinny looked at Mog and pointed a claw at the diamond he's just been staring at for at least 20 seconds, "I wouldn't be surprised if Poco was the jeweler, too." The cat then resumed his analysis of the diamonds. "And... he must be very well connected if he's just... letting it sit on display, like this." The response came slowly.
This was supposed to come before QM's response.
>>5629084
Before I do anything, I'd like to know if the diamond I have from Pigs is anything like the diamonds on the diamond armor. And whether the diamond armor was missing any diamonds in the diamond slots...

"Good baby kitten needs strong armor from Poco. Don't worry, garunteed to fit anyone."
>He then looks towards Mog.
"As for you baby puppy I can set armor to fit you. It only take two hours at most. It will then fit you soon."

>Poco then notices Ursus.

Upon being addressed by the cat Mog nodded, settling in to have his armour fitted.
>>
>>5629133
"Go ahead and pay for it then. Poco in no rush."

>>5629147
"They should fit baby foxes as well. Judging by the way baby puppy talks, Poco assumes baby puppy must have an army. Poco assumes it's a strong army like Poco is alone."

"Right, this looks about right." Kinny handed Poco 10 platinum and undid his belts so he could put himself through the jumpsuit... which he did with some effort.
...can you answer my questions about diamonds?
>>
>>5629167
"Poco believe you for now."

>>5629176
"Poco understands this but Poco knows if world breaks is Poco's fault. If people know world is broken by Poco, they will keep asking Poco to break it. It's why Poco refuses to fight."

>>5629178
>>5629087
>As Kinny puts on the jumpsuit Poco soon notices the diamond.
>He gets close and examines it.
"Poco see you have diamond. Poco impressed. You carry good magical item with you. Diamond just like my diamonds. Only bigger. Poco recommend you keep with you and keep tight grip around it baby kitten. Can help with bringing people back from the dead under right circumstances."

"Poco knows that diamonds have magic properties. Poco's mama told Poco stories. Long ago in a time in the time of the old ones where, days before they fought the dragons, there was a big crystal that everyone worshipped. Everyone loved crystal. They all gave it gifts and made sure it was happy. In return huge crystal became very happy and helped everyone with their problems. Healing them from all kinds of ailments. Including death. Then one day, an old one made the crystal mad. With crystal mad it then became hot and started vibrating really fast. Soon the crystal then got so hot and shook so fast it broke. Broke into millions and millions of diamonds scattered across the world. Each diamond having small healing property including reviving the dead. That's why Poco kept making armor for baby kittens. Poco want to make armor of doamonds so they can stay immortal. At least Poco hopes that is the case."

>>5629193
"Poco likes bakeries. Poco consider this."
>>
>>5629201
"That's... certainly something. Is this the first diamond armor you've made, or did you sell any before?"
>>
>>5629203
"Still making it. Poco has to make sure it is perfect."
>>
>>5629201
Stay safe poco never change, Ursus leaves with the armor off to go buy the meat and produce
>>
>>5629205
"Right." The cat only just now noticed the armor is indeed unfinished. "Do you sell milk too? We could use a bottle right about now." Kinny asked.

I'm still here, was just getting ready to go. If you have anything I need to react to then I can quickly respond to it before I head out the door, but better post it quick.

>>
>>5629206
>Ursus then left the armory to go to the food stands.
>You then see the sheep still selling the Mantis meat to some rabbit.
>Clearly he was enjoying the scent of the meat and wanted to buy some for a snack.
>Of course Ursus would recognize this rabbit from Mog's description.
>White fur, red eyes, blue clothing.
>This was Lanesboro.
What do you do Ursus?

>>5629210
>Poco then placed a huge ass bottle of fresh milk on the table.
>As if he was waiting for you to ask.
"I'll sell it to you for five silver."
Buy the milk?
>>
>>5629216
"Thanks, Poco." Kinny put 5 silver on the table and carefully put the milk bottle into one of the countless straps on his backpack. "Have a good day." The cat said before leaving.
I think I will have to cut it short here as well, if that's okay.
>>
>>5629219
fair enough.
>>
>>5629215
Mog has heard of this, powerful clerics can use diamonds to resurrect animals. He recommends Kinny keep the diamond upon recollection and having this tidbit of knowledge confirmed by Poco. The group had enough money.

Sorry, no time for long detailed IC explanation. In DnD diamonds are used for resurrections, this is true. I just wasn't sure if it was still true in this setting.
>>
>>5629216
I walk up to the rabbitkin and asked for the price of the snack
>>
>>5629228
"Oh. 'Ello there. You seem to have interest on the meet. Costed me 480 for a slab of this smoked mantis meat."
>Lanesboro then took a bite of it.
"It's really good. You want to try some? I have a bit more of it. Bought the entire supply."

"Traveling somewhere?"
>The rabbit asked curiously.
"If you are I do say you have to be careful. You never know what to expect. Especially when there are rumors of owlbears out in the forest."
>>
>>5629240
Hmm thank you that is good to know but I wouldn’t worry the amount of people we are traveling with would definitely make even such creatures balk before attempting an attack, even so I will do my diligence and attempt to avoid their territory
>>
>>5629243
>Lanesboro then laughs.
"Ho ho my friend... you're fucked no matter how many animals you have with you. You practically made you and your friends a buffet. Really the only thing you truly need to survive is light. The owlbears hate the light or anything that produces light. Any glimpse of it and they flee over to the darkest area you can. You want my advice. Buy a ton of torches. That will definitely help you out. Sleep with at least three torches around you qt night. But again that's just the advice of a silly rabbit. You don't need to listen to little ol' me if you don't want to."
>>
>>5629247
Hmm well I might aswell stock up how many torches can 10 gold pay for
>>
>>5629250
"Usually one copper. But don't ask me. I'd rather you ask the nice sheep here if her torches cost one copper."
>The rabbit says as he points over to the sheep who owns the food stand.
>>
>>5629252
thanks for the information I appreciate it
>>
>>5629252
>Ursus wanders over towards the sheep to ask for a lot of torches
>>
>>5629253
>Ursus soon goes to the sheep as the shady silly rabbit then leaves.
>The sheep soon turns to you.
"I see you are back."
>She says with a smile.
"I assume you wish to buy some supplies and torches from the conversation I just heard."
>>
>>5629256
Yes although I will be spending my personal account on the torches
Even if what the rabbit says is just a scheme at marketing one does not take the risk and I will give him the benefit of the doubt
>>
>>5629257
"He seems like a nice fellow. He bought all the mantis meat from me. So that was nice. So how much are you wanting to buy today?"
>>
>>5629257
I must admit I lack knowledge of these owl bears but if light is what will defend my traveling group I must invest in that particular choice
Besides we might as well gather up on torches
And then enough resources for a mixed species group
>>
>>5629258
About 5 pounds per meat
5 pounds salads and 4pounds vegetables
And about 10 bottles if soap and hygiene supplies
>>
>>5629262
Typo 5 pounds fruit and vegetables
And af least 10 gold worth of torches
From personal gold
>>
>>5629265
"That's 500 silver for the produce and meat. As for the torches there, let's see... 10 times 10 times 100. That's about 10,000 torches. Best I can sell you is 100. Gotta let other customers buy some torches as well. Soap unfortunately is over at the potion shop."
Pay lady 1 gold for torches and 50 gold for food?

>As Ursus goes to the potion shop, the sheep sighs knowing she made some profit today.
>Meanwhile at the armor shop, Poco finishes getting the right measurements for Mog for his armor.
"Big Baby Puppy you are. Been drinking lots of milk. Got strong bones and muscles. Still a bit frail though. Must be through age. Poco make sure you have good plate armor."
>Poco then looks towards Kinny as he gathers the other Padded Kitty Armor.
"You doing good baby kitten or do you need Poco's help putting on suit?"
What do you guys do?
>>
>>5634035
Kinny already has the armor on and has left to... uh not quite sure yet, was gonna hit the bar or something.
>>
>>5634035
"Thanks pal, I'll think about the milk." Mog said as goodbye.

It was time to see the jeweler.

>I head to the jewelery shop.
>>
>>5634035
>>5634044
>>5634047
Kinny originally planned to visit a local tavern to drink something other than water, but having bought given the milk and seeing Mog leave Poco's and head towards the jeweler, decided his little trip can wait and decided to follow the wolf for now.
>>
>>5634044
>>5634054
>>5634047
>Mog then enters the jewelry shop.
>There he sees a very rare creature.
>A mole.
>He was busy working hard on checking the material of the jewel he was observing.
"A fine cut indeed. No chips. A shame it is small though. Maybe if it were a bit more bigger I could give it a better price. Maybe even worth 500 gold. But alas it is just a small sapphire worth at least 25 gold at most. Tis a shame. It really is pretty."
>He then finally looks away from the sapphire and looks towards the old wolf.
"Ah! A customer! Are you here to look at my jewelry and relics?"
>>
>>5634058
Meant to add in "and Kinny" originally the post was bigger. But then I saw that Kinny wanted to follow Mog. Sorry for the long wait for a short post
>>
>>5634058
"Relics, please. Oh, and if you have any magical jewelry or artifacts then I'd like to see those too. Any enchanting you do I'd like to hear about as well." Mog walked up to the counter.

Somewhat self consciously Mog asked "So, uh...not often we see moles above ground. Not to presume anything or anything, but you got any news from below the surface?"

Awkward words spill out from the wolf's mouth. He wasn't used to dealing with such rare creatures and found himself uncharacteristically slow on any icebreakers. He'd meant to ask how the mole managed to be a jeweler, from what he understood moles had very poor eyesight, in fact he vaguely remember something about moles not even having ears, but clearly that couldn't be the case since they were having a conversation. Instead he demurred to fumbling about insinuating that all moles knew each other or were alike. Hopefully the shopkeeper just moved past that and didn't notice, no harm was meant.
>>
>>5634035
I shall wait for mog and kinny’s rp is done so as to make things flow smoothly
>>
>>5634070
"No enchanted items. Just regular jewels and relics. Been collecting them since I was a wee little melanocytic nevi. Now then my relics. Would you like this teapot? It's filled to the brim with dirt, but it was probably used by the giants that roamed the surface. Or at least they were giants back one hundred years ago. They are probably the same size of mole now. Three feet. Honestly took us forever to evolve within the 100 years since the giants died. I'm sorry were you wanting something? Oh yes the teapot. The teapot was what you wanted. It's probably a bit chipped but I can sell it to you for about 5 copper. I bet that there's some relic fanatic you can find that will want it better at where you are going than where I am right now."
>When the mole finally heard the second question from Mog he then continued on with random ramblings.
"Nope no news. Only construction. Construction and selling jewelry and relics that we find underground. Though recently someone did recently come across a new relic from the past if you are interested in looking in that."
>>
>>5634070
"Do you think I should keep this diamond or sell it off to the jeweler?" The cat inquired Mog. He didn't want to pawn off something that could be used to bring animals back to life, and the old paladin was the closest thing to a resurrecting diamonds' expert in the group.
>>5634060
>>5634075
I'll just tag along since I don't have any particular inspiration right noow.
>>
>>5634075
That may be a while. You can explore the town on your own in the meanwhile, it's not like there is magical Chest High Walls preventing you from going anywhere, you even ran into Lanesboro and actually came out better for it. As long as we don't reveal Maggie to Lanesboro or the lizards or start any fights then we should be fine. Hell, as long as you don't reveal anything about us you're actually the best person to talk to Sean, because he doesn't know you. You could get his inventory roster and we could use you to buy stuff from him, it'd be worthwhile given that we got Kinny's OP lightning daggers and my sword from him

>>5634080
Mog's eyes glazed over when he heard there was no magical services offered here, doubly so when all it seemed like the mole had to offer was old human utilities. The light returned to his eyes when the mole offered to show him a new relic, hopefully something good.

"Yes, please." The lupine's tongue lolled out unconsciously, you never know when a shopkeeper could surprise you.
>>
>>5634091
To be fair, we can get the daggers for cheaper from the kangaroo. I agree with everything you said about Ursus, though.
>>
>>5634080
(Well since I have the go ahead I shall post) so as Ursus walks into the potion shop to purchase soaps and cleaning supplies he politely waits for the shop owner to call upon him in line
>>
>>5634087
"Keep it, if one of us bites the dust then if we gather up the mortal host of the departed soul we can bring it to a sufficiently powerful cleric and pay them to use the diamond to resurrect us. It'd be better if we actually recruited a cleric into the party, but itinerant clerics aren't as common as they used to be with the faction's empires having settled into place and the roads being highways for harassment rather than commerce." Mog replied in-between excited panting.
>>
>>5634096
"Rooger that." Kinny responded to the very panting Mog and moved to the glass display to stare at the diamonds in it.
>>
>>5634094
Just to remind you, I already mentioned that I picked up a bunch of soaps and shampoos here >>5627086 but you do you, we may be in for a long hike in the wilderness soon, so it makes sense.
>>
>>5634100

>>
>>5634099
"Honestly, if the the gentlemole in charge of this shop has any diamonds of similar quality, it may be worth stocking up."
>>
>>5634100

>>
>>5634104
Good thinking. We simply bought health potions in the first town.
>>
>>5634091
"Ah yes. The most recent relic. The relic we found recently. Found it almost a week ago, we did. It's a huge leap in science. Very huge indeed."
>He took you all in the back.
>There you see a huge patch of dirt.
>Within that dirt.
>A skeleton.
>A human skeleton.
"Ah yes it was a good find. Very good. We suspect it to be about 500 years old. Judging by the size of it. A very good lifespan for a giant indeed. Found him or her in a strange wooden box underground. But thanks to them we know the giants were only three tall. Good find don't you think?"

>>5634099
>>5634103
"He is right. Very small. About the size of a copper coin. Cost about 50 silver each if you want one, it does. Very good. Jolly good indeed they are. They are especially good for rings as well from what I have heard."

>>5634104
>Ursus enters the shop to see the Lizard still operating it.
"Hmm..... anything you want ssssssir?"
>You see the following.
>Potion of Healing, 400 Silver per bottle.
>Potion of Invisibility, 10,000 silver per bottle.
>Potion of Poison, 200 silver per bottle.
>Cleaning ointments for bathing (basically shampoo), 20 Silver per bottle.
>>
>>5634107
Do you have medical kits other than health potions?
>>
>>5634108
>The lizard stares at you for a bit.
"Medical kitssss? Let'ssss sssssseeee. I do carry a few. Mosssssstly holdsssss some bandagesssss and gauzzzzze. Sssssome burn ointmentssss asssss well. Along with a needle and thread. I'm willing to part with one for about 75 ssssssilver. If you want it that badly."
Pay for the medical kit?
>>
>>5634112
Absolutely, as powerful as healing potions and magic is it can heal things too well like bones healing wrong and the like and it can’t really deal with illness as well Ursus prefers the 75 silver. on the topic do have medications as well or a lead on someone selling them such things would help a lot

Hearing that, the cat moved closer to the mole and showed him the Diamond they've got from pigs. "How much you'd be willing to pay for this one, then? Mog hid his disappointment. This was actually interesting, but of no use to them. Sure, academic insights could be gleaned, but that was better left to specialists. He could debate the mole since he knew better given he knew Maggie and had seen the size of the skeletons in the bunker, but that was pointless. They could use the diamond to revive the human, but why bother when they knew nothing about them and were better served by reviving Maggie's brother or some other Old One?

"Yes, very interesting find. What were the circumstances of this discovery, if you don't mind me asking?" Mog inquired. His interest had died, but may as well make polite conversation. You never knew when something that seems like trivia later turns out to be useful.

The old wolf perked up when he heard the mole advertising tiny diamonds. He thought back to his paladin training. He wasn't one hundred percent sure on if there was a required quality and size of the diamonds used for resurrections but he thought he recalled something like that, it wouldn't do to be scammed into buying a bunch of useless diamonds.

>Some kind of check to see if the mole is bullshitting, maybe history, arcana, or religion to know if the diamonds are too small for revival, or maybe insight to check if he is lying.
>>
>>5634115
"Ah... you mean like antidotesssss and medicinesss... we got sssssome that help animalssss sssssleep. Ssssome that help with coughing. Even thissss one getssss rid of feverssss. Cosssstsssss 10 copper coinsssss each."
Buy it?

>>5634117
"One hundred and fifty platinum? Let's see here."
>The mole then started analyzing the diamond.
>Constantly mumbling about how it's features are and how clean the cuts are.
>Even how much the diamond shines as well.
>He continues making his ten paragraph monologue for a bit until he finally made his analysis.
"My friend, I hate to say it but your friend is wrong. It is not worth 150 platinum. No he is far off. It's worth 400 platinum at least. Unfortunately I can not buy it off you and I refuse to cut soch a great masterpiece of geological perfection. So I ask of you to put it away and never show that beautiful piece of art to me ever again. Also never allow your friend to know of it's true value. That is a good way for you to lose your life. Trust me I know."

Mog may get angry after some further discussion actually. Disentombed bodies can be a pretty big deal to Mog, but given this mole seems like an academic then if Mog gets assurances that the body will be returned to the earth then he probably won't start shit. Just a heads up that IC Mog may start throwing a shitstorm. Right now he is assuming the mole is aware of undead and is going to treat the body right, but that may not last.
>>
>>5634124
"Hmm we just found him in a box. That's it. Wooden and filled to the brim with old plastic flowers. I assume it might be a giant ritual. But it is dead after all. No need to worry about it. Not like it will be upset that it will be used for the purpose of science. Better than it rotting in the ground with bugs eating it. Now then... about what we learned from this skeleton."
>The continued on and on about the skeleton.
>Not even seeming to care that he desecrated a grave.
>Not even caring that he may have ruined what was meant to be sacred.
>All of that was excused with the idea that it would be better for the world of academics.
>He did stop talking about it when he told Kinney the price of his diamond.
>Which judging by his price and his analysis, you could tell he did know what he was talking about.
>Still...

Kinny looked at the diamond. Then at the Mole. Then at the diamond. He lifted the diamond up to his eyes and squinted real hard to look inside the crystal. Then at the mole again. "Mate I don't know how you determined the price of this gem, but you must be some kind of a *genius*. If you EVER decide you want to buy this diamond, I will give you a 20% discount." The cat then put the diamond back in his backpack. "Thank you and please give us some of those tiny diamonds. Yeah, those are fine, gimme 20 for 10 platinum."
Mate what the fuck, I rolled 23 on investigation to determine the price of this diamond. This mole must be out of his goddamn mind.
>>
>>5634140
Ah, I was more looking to know if the small diamonds he was selling are unfit for resurrection.

Mog struggled to calm down while the mole was distracted. He worked on slowing his panting. The aged wolf knew the mole probably meant well, just wanting to know the past. It still irked him, there was knowledge worth knowing beyond science, natural laws beyond what the non-magically inclined academics knew. The mole interfered with the natural cycle and brought potential misery to those still living by risking a heavy spirit chancing upon the body. He thought himself and his colleagues a law unto themselves able to do whatever they pleased when in fact he acted in error by taking what belonged to the Roots Below.

"You planning on putting that body back into the ground where it belongs when you're done with it, mole? It could rise again as undead." The words tore their way from Mog's throat reluctantly, the gruffness and anger unavoidable in his state of mind. He just barely managed to avoid sounding enraged.

The soldier of the twinned Goddesses would try and extend an olive branch, however awkward and veiled his intent. The academic could explain himself, he'd broken no secular law as far as Mog knew, violence wasn't acceptable here. Still, he had what he hoped was an ace up his sleeve. Should the mole not have intentions to do his due diligence then Mog could always report him to the lizards, he was harbouring human artifacts and a human body after all. It left a sour taste in his mouth and pangs of guilt in his mind to even consider selling anybody out to one of those zealous monsters, but this creature did not know what he wrought upon the world in his ignorance.

Sorry for being slow, had to give this post some thought. This took a potentially dark turn, sorry for dragging down the speed of the main plot by potentially going down this side road.

I wish I managed the transition between my prior two posts a bit better, as is it looks like Mog's anger came out of nowhere unless you read my spoilered post. Oh well, would've thought knowledge of the undead would be common knowledge, but I guess that is why we have clerics in DnD.

"A crime in of itself? Sir, you risk your people's very lives by having this uninterred corpse out about at all. A heavy spirit could chance upon it at any moment. You risk an undead rising, one of unparalleled strength and intellect, it could easily destroy your people's entire community. I insist you properly bury it after you conduct your studies, else I'll be forced to report you to the lizards, and I'm sure we both know what they'll do to you and that body. I'm surprised you even have the audacity to conduct your business while right under their noses. Do the right thing and we won't have any trouble." Mog pressed, stepping close and pressing his paw onto the tiny mole.

>I intimidate the mole to get him to bury this corpse. Will use a charge of Lucky if my roll isn't good.

Damn, I'm not sure about physically intimidating this guy. Seems a bit harsh for how Mog usually is, but trying this is honestly way better than straight up selling this guy out and letting him get burned alive by the lizards. If anything I'm keeping to Mog's beliefs while actually doing this guy and his community a favour. Not sure about how I feel about keeping this as Mog's attitude though, he was already kinda morally grey, any more thug-like intimidations and he'd come off as a bit of a zealous bully. Will think on it.

"Buying for the party. Seems like a good thing. So I assume your other party members are small, like a cat or a wee little rabbit correct? If it's a rabbit especially a rabbit I recommend buying some flame daggers. I happen to know a rabbit that can definitely use these things wisely and kill seven owl bears alone with it."

If you could get a price list, that'd be good. For the elemental and giant weapons especially.

"No, we'd need a powerful cleric. The magic is beyond my capabilities. My gifts are more martially oriented."

I'll assume this exchange takes place just before Mog starts losing his shit and intimidating the mole.
>>
>>5634217
eh the wealder is not small either they are more ranged inclined but I would have them have a back up weapon for close quarters combat, back to the point may o have a list of prices as ursus raises his pad of paper

Mog felt terrible seeing this small creature begging for his life's work before him. Any animal watching would assume Mog was robbing the poor mammal. The comment about his false magic went over his head, simply one more sign that the mole literally lived under a rock given how common magic was. Still, he hardened his heart. It had to be done, for the good of all.

He looked to Kinny. "Should we show him? Magic I mean? Or...well the other thing is too dangerous, but it'd do him well to see. This mole is truly ignorant given that there are magic users literally within this market, it'd be a nice deed to show him the truth, but his lack of knowledge is his own issue and his eyes may be too dull to see what is right in front of his eyes."
>>
>>5634217
"I'd watch who you're calling a mongrel if I were you. That's a wolf with one leg the size of your entire family." Kinny stated matter-of-factly. The subterranean rat could be of use, so the cat refrained from hissing insults.
>>5634226
"Sure". Kinny told the wolf. He was curious of this whole magic thing, even if he didn't quite believe in Mog's whole religion... thing. Was it an ideology? He wasn't even quite sure about the terminology. "Yes." The cat cut his internal monologue short. "What needs to be done?"

"Peel back my chainmail around my other leg then, give it a cut where the mole can see. I'll heal it with my divine gift." Mog instructed.

He'd given the demonstration some thought prior to this, his magic wasn't the most visible sort, unlike a wizard or druid. His most obviously magical feats were probably his divine smites, followed by his ability to command someone to do anything he wanted as long as it were one word instructions and not fatal, maybe if he contaminated a container of clear drinking water and then used his magic to purify it then that would also be an obvious sign of his power, but the quickest way to demonstrate his capabilities without wasting a full spell was probably his healing magic.

>I'll wait for Kinny to cut my leg where the mole can see, then I'll heal the wound with Lay on Hands.
>>
>>5634222
>>5634245
Literally all of the heavy/giant weapons are worth getting, and buying as many of the flame/lightning daggers as you can would be VERY beneficial for all of us. This is some top tier magical gear. It might be worth asking if he has magical armour too. We have the money for a lot of this.

"Uhhhh, sure?" Kinny cringed a little at the wolf's request, but decided to trust the process. The cat lifted the chainmail like Mog asked him and... extended his claws. "I'm not stabbing you with a knife, Mog. This is the best you get." He said, before slashing at the wolf's leg, making sure to hit a flat surface with no tendons and the like.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm fine, the storm passed very quickly. No one was hurt aside from some neighbours getting pelted pretty heavily with some hail. I'll just assume Kinny's unarmed attack does 1 damage.

The twinge of pain elicited no response from Mog, this was nothing compared to a lifetime of scars soldiering brought him. He moved his leg right next to the mole so he could see the wound itself. With an ounce of will he closed the shallow wound, the flesh knitting itself back together in front of the mole's eyes.

>Use Lay on Hands to heal myself 1 HP.

"Believe me now?"

"This and more, all spellcasters have a limited number of spells per day. I'm surprised you didn't know this, you must've been underground for a very long time. A number of the shopkeepers in this town are spellcasters themselves. If you travelled the world with us you'd see many more wonders. But you have things to do, responsibilities to tend to, so I'll leave you be. Make sure to bury that body properly. Oh, and just so you know, I've seen adult 'giant' skeletons, the Old Ones aren't only three feet tall, some of them are twice that height." Mog answered patiently.

Perhaps the hint of adventure would tempt the mole to join them and garner them a history and archaeology expert, if not then at least he'd set the record straight and prevented a disaster. It was time to go.

>Persuasion roll for the heck of it to tempt the mole into joining the party and round out our skills with a jeweler so we have someone to assess the value of things.

Kinny was a bit surprised with Mog showing no reaction to his claws. He knew from experience this wasn't a pleasant experience, although he only ever tested it on mice. Kinny then observed the old wolf close his eyes and make the artificial cuts disappear from the surface of his skin. "Well, this explains how you're still alive underneath all those scars. You sure this isn't just some crazy fast healing process?" The cat inquiried, more from his own curiosity than trying to downplay Mog's abilities.

Thanks for running. Enjoy your evening everyone.

Sorry to drag this one bit of RP out for so long. But after this is over and we buy our gear next session then we should be free to meet Lanesboro and then leave this town. We agreed not to do very much recruiting in this town for fear of alerting the lizards, so we hopefully won't be staying too long. I know it has been a long time since we had some combat, though I'm hoping to avoid a forced hostile encounter with Lanesboro if he is indeed hostile.

Kinny wants his knives, remember. So buy like 50 or as many as he has available at least, both the lightning and flame. Better yet, buy even more than 50 if he has them, because we can all use them and we need good ranged weapons for throwing since not all of us can actually use the guns we looted, as those require two paws that are human like.

Basically all of our platinum is being used up and some of our gold reserves.

The total cost is 4770 platinum + some extra for the lightning daggers, so lets say 5000 platinum. That means deduct all our platinum and all of our gold, which covers about 1700 platinum. Then we draw 3 MILLION of our 7 million copper to cover the rest of that.

To cover the daggers plus the remaining 70 platinum, we draw 300000 of our copper.

In total, basically deduct all of our plat, gold, and 3300000 copper. Deduct those numbers from the individual coin counts not the total that converts everything to it's value in platinum.
>>
>>5639857
God damn that’s a lot of money
>>
>>5639846
Didn't refresh, so I missed this.

>>5639853
Accounting for the post I missed, may as well convert our entire coin count into platinum and just deduct 4770 platinum + however many daggers worth we buy. I know this makes us seem overpowered, but once we start getting into higher level fights then I assure you this just makes us appropriate for the fights ahead. The gear is overpowered for our level, but we aren't overleveled necessarily, since we are still just level 2.
>>
>>5639859
Not to mention we could also outfit our npc’s from time to time with the armor/weapons we buy now whenever the need arises
>>
>>5639845
>>5639850

>>
>>5639862

>>
>>5639860
Yeah, for sure, but for now lets just focus on ourselves since we are the only fighters. Most of our NPC hirelings don't actually fight, only Bobby fought in a pinch in our last fight. In the future when we make a resistance movement than for sure we'll buy them equipment, but for now lets just focus on us.
>>
>Sean notices the bear return to his shop.

>>5639856
OH "Well no, just tell me how much money you need to buy things." The cat blinked, he was getting confused today.
>>5639857
So deduct all plat + all gold + 3300000 copper? Should I convert anything? W-Why are you buying out the entire armory?
>>5639859
So convert everything into plat and then deduct 4770 + I JUST WANTED TWO, WHY ARE YOU COM- *ahem*, 2 fire daggers for stabbing, 20 lightning ones to refill.
>>5639871
Still dazed and confused after fighting the stock exchange, Kinny handed Ursus 4770 Platinum and 168 Gold. The gold was for 20 Lightning and 2 Fire Daggers, the latter of which he thought would make a fine replacement for his old daggers.
>>
>>5639866
>QM, I'll also take 120 of the platinum when we exchange it at the bank and run to the potion shop and buy 20 healing potions and 4 invisibility potions.

No need for RP for this, just a milk run and I want to move on so we don't bore Kinny, plus we've spent this entire thread plus a decent chunk of the last one in this town or doing logistics and dragons with our vault money, it's time to move on to the story or more fights I think.
>>
>>5639871

>>
>>5639875
Understandable.
>>
>>5639876
Plate male for my self I’m pretty sure I have the measurements already for the other armor
>>
>>5639872
Yes, that math is correct. As for why we are buying everything, it is simple. Because everything is good and different weapons for different situations or to equip NPCs is good. Ursus could use the AC buff with the plate armour as well. We are buying all the daggers because it is good for you to be stocked up since we won't be in a friendly town for a long time after this and also both Ursus and I can use the daggers, we need ranged weapons too you know, since I can't use guns and you probably can't either. The flame daggers provide good AOE utility and area denial, they are basically molotovs.
>>
>>5639875
Yeah this gonna become a slog if we don’t get passed this
>>
>>5639876
>>5639877

Tell you what, I will get it ready for you when I get back in the meantime, how would you like to have a good cup of ale with me and my buddy?"
>>
>>5639953
Next session I will except the proferd drink
>>
>>5639977
You done for the day then? 'Cause if not than I see no reason why you couldn't continue now, I'm still here at least. Unless you meant you just want the gear now and you intend to go out for a drink with them later?
>>
>>5639981
Gear now drink later I have a job to finish
>>
>>5639983
"I see you need the weapons first. Got'cha. Well I got a bunch of stuff here weapons. Help yourself if you got the money."
>>
>>5639983
You could also just pay for the armour and we could head to Poco's to get it fitted. Or you could just wait for him to come back.
>>
>>5640021
I’d rather wait for kinny so let’s wrap it up for today
>>
>>5640042
Sure, I just thought that there was no need to involve him in you finishing up paying for our gear, since he seems to hate that stuff and probably doesn't want to sit through another session of us just shopping.

Anyways, have a good evening.
>>
>>5640042
So you went ahead and bought everything?
>>
>>5640048
Yup
>>
>>5640075
Alright, add what you wanted in your inventory and show me what you got.
>>
>>5640076
Me personally I got the plate mail
And the giant war hatchet while getting people what they wanted
>>
>>5640095
I'm guessing Kinny and Mog will say what you got them?
>>
>>5640103
Yup
>>
>>5640103
As I said above, our total expenditures are 4810 platinum. We've bought Frostbane, Giantslayer, the plate armour, the Giant War Hatchet, and 50 of each type of the daggers. 20 of the lightning daggers and 2 of the flame daggers are going to Kinny, the rest are being split between me and Ursus or being kept to give to other NPC hirelings in the future.

It hasn't been decided which weapon is going to who exactly, but I implied the hatchet would be good for Ursus, and I think he may use it as his primary melee weapon. He also mentioned potentially modifying a rifle by putting his old axe head on one.

I think I'll be taking Frostbane and Giantslayer for now, though I may give Frostbane to Ursus if he wants it after I get my broadsword back. I'm the only one with the strength to wield Giantslayer, aside from Maggie I guess, so I'll be the one carrying it.
>>
Sorry for not being as active today.
Maybe we can all try again on Thursday.
>>
>>5640131
Hmm pretty fitting the frostbain for the bear
>>
>>5640143
No worries, shit happens. See you all on Thursday then, if all goes well.

>>5640166
You'll fit right in with Canada, it's owlbear country.

We on for today or no?
>>
>>5641321

>>
>>5641321
>>5641360
Indeed. Btw, did you ever get to finish the drawing of Ursus? I don't have any pics for the next thread's OP.
>>
I am so sorry guys something came up. I'll see what I can do tomorrow after I take my cat to the vet.
>>
>>5641482
It’s cool
>>
>>5641482
No worries, I hope your cat will be well.
>>
>>5641482
I... won't be able to make it at the usual hour tomorrow. I know, I was surprised realizing this, too!. Should be around 6-7PM GMT (or 24 hours from now).
Hope the cat will be fine. Give him/her pets and extra foods.
>>
Turns out I do have the time today.
>>
I'm also here. We can continue whenever if QM is available today.
>>
>>5642253
>>5642222
I am here. My cat has to get declawed (as much as I hate it) due to an infection. It's been scheduled.
>>
>As Ursus bought every weapon from the list and finished the Irish husky soon noticed the time by looking over at the sun.
"Sorry for the rush, got to make a run from the tavern. Got to meet a certain bunny boy soon. You make sure to take good care of those weapons."
>Sean then ran his way out of the tent and into the tavern.
>Leaving the three to do what they need to.
What do you all do?
>>
>>5642253
What should we do?
>>
>>5642272
Wait, did he lose ALL claws? What kind of fucking infection was that?
>>
>>5642290
No it's just going to be two claws on her right paw.
Still it's like removing a finger.
As for the infection, she never learned how to retract her claws and got them stuck alot and injured her two claws after trying to pull them out. We always cleaned it. Afterwards but now it's gotten worse.
>>
>>5642299
Oh, glad to hear it's just two claws. Can't she be trained to retract somehow?
>>
>>5642276
>>5642289
"Lets go to Poco to get him to fit your armour, Ursus. After that I think it is best we rest at camp until nightfall. Then we'll get my broadsword and leave for Canada. We could visit the tavern to see if we can catch any rumours or see if there is anyone around worth hiring, but we need to make sure Sean has left before then, which I think is a job more for Bobby or Jenkins since he doesn't know their faces." Mog said after he'd heard out Ursus's explanation of how things went.

He turned to Kinny and nodded back in the direction towards Poco's shop.

>We'll return to Poco to have Ursus's armour fitted, that way we don't have to wait for Sean.

Sorry, I'm still here, got distracted and wasn't sure when we'd be ready to start.
>>
>>5642302
>You soon go to Poco's Armor shop.
>Poco then notices the armor for Ursus.
>The buff, chunky cat approches it.
>He soon examines it.
"Poco see that armor is bought from other store. Very well made. Very very well made. You here to sell or have it fit?"
>>
>>5642321
"Fit. For our bear friend here. How much?"
>>
>>5642327
"How much? Not much to change. Poco need to just make small adjustments. Poco do it for free. Just make sure baby bear stand still for me baby puppy. Also drink your milk."
>>
>>5642335
A gentle nod, a slow lean forward, and muted lapping up of milk. Another hour, another glass of milk. Tired drudgery in the last bastion of civilization before they departed into the wilderness, a welcome change from the excitement of being blasted by thunder magic. Mog soaked in the moment and let the sounds of the fat cat working fade into the background, waiting, thinking.
>>
Anything you want to do Sir Kinny?
>>
>>5642352
Nah I'm just waiting for Mog to finish the fitting.
>>
>>5642364
>The fitting is soon finished for Mog and Ursus' Plate Armor.
>Poco soon gives them each their respectable armor.
>Poco soon thanks everyone for giving him some business.
>You all soon head back to the town center.
>Now officially done with your shopping.
>>
>>5642371
Mog led the group back to camp. He called out for the scouts of the group. "Hey! Jenkins, Bobby, I need you to go to the tavern in town, see when the husky Sean leaves, then send a runner to come get us so we can enter without being seen by him. After that I'll need you guys to look out and warn us if he is coming back to the tavern. Better yet, while you're there you can save us the trouble and cut to the chase and rumourmonger and assess the hirelings in town, would save us the trouble of having to tip toe around Sean, since the entire point of all this cloak and dagger stuff is basically just so we can get into the tavern to find information on the current state of Canada and hire anyone worthy of the group and the cause."

>Basically what I just said above. Get the scouts to act like normal patrons of the tavern, see when Sean is gone, send a cat back to us to tell us it is safe, keep lookouts for Sean in case he comes back, and while they are there it'd be even better if they could save us the trouble of even needing to be there and listen to rumours and assess the people looking for work there.
>>
>>5642371
"Thank god that is over," Kinny murmured. Despite liking shiny things, he definitely wasn't a shopaholic and the amount of money they've just spent on 'necessary' equipment ought to would've caused him a few grey hairs if he wasn't a cat.
>>5642382
Once the two were back at camp, Kinny stopped daydreaming and looked at the fearless soldier and now a shopping veteran. "And what'll we be doing meanwhile?" He asked.
>>
>>5642382
>The fox soon got up from his seat.
>Jenkins shook a bit before approaching Mog.
>Bobby though... was nowhere to be seen in the camp.
"Sir, may I remind you that Bobby is already over at the tavern. She told us all she was going to use her share of the money to, and quote the old one, "get high". Whatever that exactly means. But yes she is already there but by now she probably isn't in the best state. Still would you like for me to go there?"
>>
>>5642387
"Wait, eat, whatever we do for fun these days. Honestly we've been just walking for so many weeks now that I can't even remember what we do when we're not walking or killing the occasional robot." Mog mumbled back.

>>5642388
"Ah, thought she'd be back by now. Bit early in the day to be drinking, it's only noon. But yes, please do."

Honestly I'd be fine for a time skip to when it is time to meet Lanesboro or just before, we've been wanting to get the shopping stuff over with for a long while now. If Jenkins could come back with a summary of any rumours he'd heard or worthy recruits he's seen while in the tavern then that would be nice to speed things along. Though I understand if you don't want to skip over that and think us PCs should handle it. That, and Ursus doesn't seem to be hear today, so perhaps time skipping to meeting Lanesboro isn't the best idea.
>>
>>5642406
We gotta wait for Ursus to get the Marlboro sorted out, yeah. Shouldn't skip his actions and stuff.
>>
Rolled 8 + 1 (1d20 + 1)

>>5642406
>>5642387
We can do that.

>Jenkins soon went to the tavern and went to go get a few good bits of information or rumors.
>Meanwhile as everyone was waiting, Maggie tried cooking again.
>This time experimenting with bug meat that the minions of Bobby caught.
>Ant was really common among the area so it wouldn't hurt to try.
>As Maggie continued to cook within the next few hours, Jenkins soon returned with a now intoxicated Bobby, smelling a lot like fermented fruit.
>Jenkins soon went up to the group.
"Well seems you were right about that husky getting in contacts with one of the people on your list. The hound was talking to the rabbit. Being very friendly towards each other. Talking about how they should be able to find something important soon enough. And I hope you don't mind me assuming things but I think it is your friend, the old one they are talking about. If you want my advice. We should leave now."
>Jenkins said bluntly.
"Wait what about finding recruits?"
>Maggie asks.
"Too many lizards in there. If anything, I say it's a bad idea to try. So we need to get your sword and leave."
Rolling Survival to see how well Maggie cooks bug meat.

>>5642419
the cigarettes?
>>
>>5642430
>Maggie's attempt to make the ant meat good was....
>Not the best.
"Guess smoking it like I did with the turkey wasn't the best option."
>She looked towards her companions.
"A-.... any of you want to try?"
>>
>>5642430
"Thanks Jenkins. Good thing we didn't go in there. We'll follow your suggestion."

>>5642432
Mog made a twisted face. Ant meat? Where did Bobby's peons find the stuff? Honestly Mog was more surprised that they actually caught the ants themselves, it seemed beyond them given their cowardly nature.

Still meat was meat and while this didn't seem to have been cooked quite as well as the previous meal the mantis meat had been surprisingly good. Trying some more bug meat couldn't hurt, he'd just try a little.

"Sure, just a tiny bit though, you can have most of it."

>Try some of the meat. Wait for nightfall.
>>
>>5642430
Kinny sniffed the shitfaced bobtail and narrowed his eyes. "Was getting fucked up in the capital of lizards-control-this-place necessary?" The cat asked, somewhat disapproving of the smuggler's action. Without her sharp wits about, someone could've seen them or worse..
I just misnamed Lenesboro for funsies.
>>5642432
"Maybe Bobby wants some meat to better digest whatever she poured inside herself?" The cat shrugged. The thing that Maggie prepared wasn't the godlike turkey and he suddenly remembered he had survival rations in his backpack. Kinny contently sat down on the grass and put down a small piece foil in front of himself before pulling out a can of Whiskas meat. He then opened the can with his teeth and plopped the contents out onto the foil. The cat sniffed the air, purred a littld and bit into to the meaty cylinder without the care in the world.

>It's kind of kind of like fish.
>You don't really taste it until a few bites later.
>Again nothing special but good at least.
"So... was it good Mog? Need to know so I can figure out if this is safe for everyone to eat."

"Hmm, I expected it to be crunchy, like the mantis. Kind of unpleasantly endlessly chewy, like fat, but without the feeling of just biting into a strip of lard, there is some substance and actual meat in here. Kinda of a bland smoky flavour, not the best, not the worst, just kind of on the bad side of 'interestingly bland' if that makes sense. It'd actually be kind of good if it was mixed into something more interesting as a filler." Mog said after a moment, disgust passing over him before turning into thoughtful chewing.

He wasn't sure what it said on the cans, but it seemed to him the cat on the weathered label meant this was for meant for cats. The cat swallowed and looked at the empty can, which he then rolled over to Maggie. "Can you read what it says on it?"
It's a Whiskas can with wrap in spanish. Chicken in jelly.

What about Ursus' meeting with the rabbit?
>>

I mean he still is doing that isn't he?
>>
>>5645931
Oh I've misread it thinking we're departing.
>>
>>5645925
>>5645929
I suppose we don't need to meet Sean anymore since we already got his armour fitted, plus the rabbit is Lanesboro and we are meeting him now anyways Kinny.

"Hold up. Before we potentially walk into danger we should distribute our gear. Here, take these." Mog carefully took out 20 potions and split them up evenly for Ursus and Kinny.

>I give Kinny and Ursus each 9 healing potions and 1 invisibility potion. For reference Ursus should have the Giant War Hatchet, 15 lightning daggers and 24 flame daggers. I have the same amount of daggers and also Frostbane and Giantslayer. Kinny has a refill of 20 lightning daggers and 2 flame daggers.
>>
>>5645925
>>5645929
>>5645940
"Alright, with that taken care of I think we're ready to go. Unless there's any objections I say we just play it cool and go to get my sword, try to avoid mentioning Maggie or humans. If it's a trap then we fight, we'll need to coordinate any of the elemental daggers if we choose to throw them, I'll toss my shield if it looks like we are about to lose so you guys will be free to use them," Mog paused to scratch his nose, "If Sean is there but it doesn't appear to be an ambush then we can just try and brush past the issue and pick up my sword and leave. Otherwise if he just wants to talk then we can talk but I think giving Maggie up at this point is not on the table. Though I do want your guy's thoughts on you guys perhaps waiting outside the tent spread out, 'cause if it turns into a fight I don't want us all clumped up for a big spell by the powerful wizard."
>>
I'll be back in 40 minutes, just gotta make some food.

>>5642546
>>5645925
Once done with his meal, Kinny took out the Fire Daggers he got from Ursus to inspect them closer. Despite not standing catching on fire unless swung, they seemed to idly produce heat which the cat gladly used to warm his black paws. Once content with his new personal heaters, the rogue pulled his old daggers free from their sheathes and slid the fire blades in their place. The cat threw the regular blades in the back of his backpack and stood up, almost ready to face the night.
>>5645962
>>5642546
*silenced burp* "We could send Ursus first to assess the situation first? He has a rendez-vous with Lanesboro anyway, no? They have no reason to attack him since they don't know he's with us." Kinny responded, as he idly pawed his sheathe. He had yet to get used to the weight and warmth of his new daggers. "As for your sword... I propose the rest of us stays back but surround the place. They haven't seen us together here, so even if Sean is there and recognizes you, he might decide to let you go... and if they decide to make things hard, we'll quickly jump on their backs." The cat proposed, not quite sold on the idea it was a trap and trying to find a way to give their enemy as little information as possible unless a full confrontation was necessary. "...oh, and I don't think the fire daggers will strike your shield, so you and Ursus shouldn't hold back as long as everyone is a safe distance away from the target."
>>5645940
I have 30 Lightning daggers (I bought 12 initially and used 2, leaving me with 10 before the unbearable shopping spree) + 2 Fire daggers + 2 regular daggers + 1 sword. And 10 health potions. I also still have human journals and weed, if you ever need/want those.
>>
>>5645962
>>5645991
>Maggie then went up to the group.
"Question which direction are we heading off to?"
>The human asked her valid question.
"We came from the south, so going there might be out of the question."
>This was when Jenkins popped up to give out his suggestion.
"Our only choices are the East and West. The East is a dense forest filled to the brim with trees. If we go that way we are sure to find some giant spiders and maybe an owlbear. And I don't know about you but fighting an owlbear is too dangerous in my opinion. But there is an unguarded entrance to Canis Lupis if we go that direction so there might be some worth going there. Then there is the West and while it closer to Ape country, there's a small Ape fort we can easily sneak past by. It's only guarded by ten gorillas, but they only go by shifts of two every hour. We find that sweet spot we find a good way to pass. Best part is the Apes will be looking for lizards. Nothing like us. Then again they are paranoid fucks. They recently just got done doing a fight for the fort. Which would you rather choose to go?"
>>
>>5645991
Sure, I was just accounting for the stuff we just bought to make sure everyone was on the same page as to who had what.

"Gotcha, sounds like a plan. You good with that Ursus?"

Guess we are just waiting on Ursus. Could be a couple of hours and he may be out of it depending on how wild the wedding was.
>>
>>5646002
>>5646003
Could I get an OOC explanation of what is (supposed to be) going on right now? I genuinely don't follow, since on one hand, I have QM saying we're departing and on the other, Mog announcing we're group-visiting Lanesboro...
>>
>>5646002
"Honestly either is fine by me. I'm actually relatively confident in our ability to take down an owlbear or a swarm of giant spiders as long as we don't get ambushed, which shouldn't be too likely given how many members of our party we have." Mog opined. He then glanced around for anyone who wanted to speak up before continuing.

"Ursus and I are wearing plate, we won't be able to sneak past the fort easily unless there is a big enough gap in their patrols that we won't have to come close enough for them to hear. I'm not actually worried about the potential fight itself, I think we can take them. The actual worry is if they send a runner for reinforcements, then we are in for a pursuit the entire time we are in ape country. Given that caveat I think we oughtta take the forest route." He finished.

I share my character's confidence, owlbears could potentially 2 shot us, but they aren't that hard for us to kill given our AC and damage output. Poison from the spiders or webbing could be dangerous, but ultimately we should be able to deal with them unless they are homebrewed to be more dangerous.
>>
>>5646005
We're picking up my sword, the NPCs are just getting ready to leave by packing up camp. I reckon that if Ursus isn't here today then meeting Lanesboro won't turn into a fight, instead we'll probably just meet and talk and leave and the path we take will have a fight/stealth check instead.
>>
>>5646008
>>5646010
I'll wait for the bear. But if I were to do anything before depart, it's taking Bobtail and scouting ahead of the group with her.

"The path seems clear for the most part, there's some turkeys and a bunch of owlbear pellets in the distance to the east, but we should be far enough from them to not have to worry. There's another source of a trouble though, a clearance in the forest where apes could spot us. We tried to take a peek, but there's hills in the way and some weird... fog or something. All I could see is that there's some fort up ahead."

Mog's ears perked up. "Fog? Could you tell whether it was natural or magical in nature? If it was cast by a spellcaster then the fog should've only covered an area of a few hundred feet at absolute most," He tilted his head up and sniffed the air, trying to get a sense for the humidity, "Paranoid I know, but something could be up. Either way, I think I prefer to take the forest route, even if the fog could help us get past the patrols I don't want to risk them calling reinforcements if we are spotted, though I'll hear you out if you disagree."

Lets go meet Lanesboro, as discussed before at least Kinny should stay outside and move to be at an angle, so that if Lanesboro were to cast a wave-like spell you would not be hit. Up to you Ursus on whether to want to come in to talk to Lanesboro or also wait outside in case it is an ambush." Mog said.

You can go talk to Lanesboro, come out to tell us if Sean or anyone else is in there with the rabbit, then you can loiter outside the tent doing whatever in case I need you when I go in to get my sword. Though I will say I'm not too worried about Ursus being linked with our group after we leave this city. The bear emerged, evidently done with his surveying social call. Mog anxiously waited for Ursus to approach their hidden observation point. The grass had been matted down for comfort, with tall grass left standing all around the resting area for stealth.

Unable to wait for the bear to unhurriedly plod over, Mog got up from his lounging position and poked his head out and uncharacteristically hissed "So, how'd it go? Was he alone? What did you talk about?"

Mog gave the bear a confused head tilt. He seems certain of him self, so he must've witnessed something to give him this idea. "Our enemy? The lizards then? They know? Or do you mean Sean and the authorities back at Xana? One group is more dangerous than the other, even if the Xana group seems to have far more forbidden knowledge. If they are after us, what do you all think of going after Lanesboro now? Take out a powerful wizard before they group up and overwhelm us. Was he alone?"

Frantic questions flowed from the old soldier's mouth. Time was of the essence, they had to decide whether to leave or stay fast. Plus, he still wanted his sword, especially if he was going to give Frostbane up to Ursus.

"You still want that sword, Mog?" The cat gave the wolf a look. "Maybe he figured we're together because we're the only new faces in town? But there's so many other animals around! Was it the baaaaank...?" Kinny was on a downward spiral.

Mog let out a shaky breathe. The lizards were the bigger worry for sure, but the Xana human jailers had a shadowy aura about them, possessed of strange knowledge of the past as they were.

"Not great news, it must've been the bank...or maybe Sean spotted us when we were in the center of town? Or maybe Lanesboro scryed on us? Damn, but that sword could be very powerful if it was enchanted by such a powerful wizard." Mog rambled, his thoughts churning, a stream of consciousness rant beginning to spill forth.

He cut himself off. A decision had to be made. "No...no, we have to use our eyes. There's no one around us to ambush us. If he was alone in there then this is our chance to end him if he means to confront us. If not, then I can just get my sword. One way or another we can either get my sword and leave unmolested or finish off one of our pursuers before his cohorts arrive to help him. Back me up, I'm going in!"

Mog accepted the sword gratefully and sheathed it with care. It seemed that even among potential enemies, the bond of one's word held true. An inspiring sentiment...or perhaps the sword had been laden with a tracking spell of some kind, you never knew with wizards. Something to investigate later with his Detect Magic spell.

"Thank you, beautiful work. Did you get the jewels from the jeweler in town?" He complemented conversationally, then paused to listen as the rabbit moved the conversation past the topic of enchanted weaponry.

"Friendly terms...that depends on you. First off, Maggie doesn't want to return, Swift keeping her on ice for however long didn't do him any favours there. Second, I personally don't believe for a second that you and Swift are actually on good terms or that he even knows of you. See, your buddy Sean gave up the jig back in Xana, let me in on the fact that he knew of the heist, and here he is here in Plato, all chummy with you seemingly." The wolf paced the room with languid grace, fixing the rabbit with a predatory glare.

He continued, smugly assured he had the wizard dead to rights. "There is also the rather obvious stand out fact that you were on the list of buyers for a human alongside Emperor Clayton and Lincoln the Flametongue, found on the pigs who hired us. And then there is the convenient deaths of Tweed and his associates in the forest Sean agreed to meet us in, death by giant mantis, terrible way to go. You didn't have anything to do with that, would you? Who am I kidding, of course you did. So, why don't you tell me what is REALLY going on. You want us on your side, right? Then you'd better spill!"

Almost as an afterthought rather than any attempt at smug rhetorical riposte he finished "No tea, thanks."

>Persuade Lanesboro that I know most of what is going on or that even if I am gravely mistaken that I am convinced of a certain truth and he'd better fess up as to his motivations lest he get on my bad side. Will use Lucky if the roll isn't high.

"Fine. But trust me you will need this tea. It will help calm you down."
>He then takes a huge sip of the tea.
>Giving out a relaxed sigh once he finished.
"You are correct on one thing. I was on that list. Very much so. I bid on what was one of the humans in the stasis pods. Mostly to make sure they wouldn't be bought by the Apes or Lizards. But as soon as I saw Clayton's bet I knew we were fucked. As for Sean, I've been his mentor ever since he was a pup. Taught him everything I knew. How to weild a sword and how to use it. Unfortunately couldn't teach him how to walk on two legs and use his paws. Such a shame. Can't do that with anyone really. Even Moses had trouble with it. But yes he knew about it because I told him. He and I were going to stop the pigs from entering the barn. Didn't plan to kill him. Just planned on putting them on our salt mines for five years at least. No the mantis thing was just pure dumb luck. Also I hate to break it to you, but if you assumed I was the one who put them in there you are sorely mistaken. They put themselves in there. I'm just trying my best to wait to get them out and prepare them for this world. You already know how dangerous it is. Imagine if she woke up and none of us were there to protect her. She would surely die either from the elements of our world or by other animals who are scared of her. Honestly, I am glad you guys chose to accept her as a friend. As for the relationship for Swift and I... I thought the bear was smart enough to figure it out was I flat out told him. I am Elder Swift. Lanesboro is just a name I use when I go outside."
>>
>>5646430
>OOC I’m not people smart
>>
>>5646430
Swift...no, Lanesboro still, he couldn't be sure if he was telling the truth. Lanesboro threw him through a loop.

He tried to follow this line of logic. "So your saying that Sean was really just trying to get us to use him as an escape route as I thought, but he actually had good intentions and just wanted to bring Maggie to you and presumably then you'd either enslave us in the salt mines as I initially thought, or perhaps you'd explain to us what was going on. This was all just some elaborate scheme to try and counterbid the other buyers and make it so that even if a team of thieves succeeded, they'd still end up right back with you."

The elder wolf allowed himself to relax and sat down on his hind legs, but shook his head at the proffered tea. However many years Mog had lived, it seemed this rabbit had many more under his belt. Swift and Lanesboro being the same person made sense, how else could a rabbit be an elder, one did not typically imagine rabbits living to a venerable enough age to be garner the wisdom worthy of respect one typically heaped upon one's elders.

"Honestly, you should've just devolved command down to one of your subordinates in Xana instead of making them communicate to you all the way over here. Could've acted sooner then. Or if you were in Xana that night then frankly you should've just acted sooner and killed Tweed, he wasn't much of a fight given how easily we killed the mantis that killed him and his goons." Mog lectured, laughing through the side of his mouth at the thought of the adventure they'd been on being caused by a lack of initiative of a knowledgeable group of human worshippers who couldn't react fast enough to deal with some fixers moving in on their home turf.

"However wrong I got the story, I can say that you in turn on wrong on one thing for sure, Maggie would've been fine, she's stronger than me and more knowledgeable too. If you really are Elder Swift then you should believe in her." The rabbit would surely appreciate that his daughter of sorts had grown into her own.

"If that's all then I'll be taking my leave. No need for hostilities. Unless you have more to share? Like I said, Maggie has no desire to return, perhaps she will after I tell her what you've told me, but for now we are on the trail of Xenarus in Canada. Any information you could offer would be appreciated." Mog finished cordially, prepared to leave or fight at a moment's notice should it turn out the rabbit was bluffing.
>>
>>5646456
"Now information is something I can't share. However..."
>He then gives you a ring.
>A simple ring with made of...
>Ambered up caterpillar cocoons.
>Several of them.
>Hundreds of them.
"Make sure that ring charges up with moonlight for eight hours everynight you can do so. It will make the polymorph last for 12 hours in the day. But other than that we are finished. Make sure Maggie wears it so she can visit the villages."
>With that Lanesbo- I mean Swift soon goes back to his seat.
>Continuing to drink his tea.
"You keep her safe for me. Okay."
>He says to him as he goes back to his own business.
>>
>>5646461
"An artifact blessed by the Goddess...odd that you should have this." the Moon chasing devotee mused aloud.

"I, Mog, paladin of the twinned Goddesses, confirm upon the rooted crescent that I will do my utmost to keep Maggie safe, lest moon beams turn my legs to stone and roots twine their way to my muscle's stem." An oath given, a song upon the wind to confirm its witness.

Mog left to rejoin his party.
>>
Gonna have to go now. Hope you all enjoyed the session.
>>
>>5646491
Alright, see you next session. Any idea when that'll be? Seems like Kinny and Ursus were getting busy for today anyways.

I guess we should expect combat next session given we are going to be travelling. We could honestly use more of that, maybe even random encounters in addition to the big boss fights and anticipated checkpoints. Otherwise levelling up is going to be very slow. Plus, a lot of time has passed where we've essentially been playing logistics&dragons, it'd be good to get back to the adventuring, especially since Ursus hasn't even got to participate in combat since he joined. That's one of the well meaning criticisms I'd levy so far, we've been playing for 7 whole months and only had 2 very short combat encounters, 3 if you count Kinny instantly obliterating the wolf guards of Xana, 4 if you count me wrestling "Simon". All that and we are only level 2.

That's not to say I'd want combat to arbitrarily and unavoidably happen, our time in town should be and thankfully was peaceful, and obviously Kinny and I would've actually preferred to avoid fighting during the heist, just that we could use some more fights. They take a relatively long time in terms of hours of the day, but in the long term we seem to spend a lot more time doing downtime activities or planning than adventuring.

Yeah, that's all the unasked for criticism I've got, been meaning to say it for a while and just wanted to get it out since we are moving onto a new area/arc. A better balance is needed.

And thanks for running! This was fun.
>>
>>5646491
>>5646505
I second what Mog said
>less/simpler logistics
>more adventure/story bits
>more combat, where it actually fits
>not forced combat
Also, it seems like we're obeying the D&D's spacial mechanics (AoE attacks having range, flanking which depends on placements, hiding)... but we never got a tiled (not RPGM), 1:1 map giving a tactical view of the combat field. Now, this wasn't required for our previous fights and I'm sure you'd be willing to simplify/bend reality where necessary to assure a smooth combat, but it would be nice to have the actual view of unit placements/distances/objects, just for the sake of interaction.

S'all good QM, it happens. We'll just have to make sure to check in earlier in the week to confirm that everyone remembers and is available for a session.

This some meme I don't know about?

Kinny was asking if Ursus ever finished his sketch of his character portrait earlier but Ursus never got around to answering. We can always just use the earlier sketch if need be, or reuse an old image if it comes down to it.

I think ursus was just shitposting. I was looking for "wednesday cats" and all I found were reactionary cat images for 'thought it's friday, but it's only wednesday', just unfunny boomer content. Aside for 'it's wednesday my dudes' I don't think there are any wednesday memes.

>The others, including a now sober Bobby, just finishing up putting away the camp.
>Maggie looks at all of you.
"You guys okay? What happened with Lanesboro?"
>She asks you all.
>>
>>5659314
A lax yawn answered Bobby's question. A moment later Mog replied "The retrieval went off without a hitch. Learned some interesting things though. For one, Lanesboro is Elder Swift. Lanesboro is just a name Swift uses when he leaves Xana. Also, I was half right about Sean, apparently he did plan to trap us and enslave us when he offered us a ride, but he didn't sell out Swift. Anyways, we're all good with the old rabbit now."

He looked around. "Where's Maggie? I have something for her." he asked.

>>5659340
"You have something for me?"
>Maggie asks as she approaches the wolf.
>>
>>5659314
>>5659340
>>5659344
Kinny nodded along when Mog explained the situation to Maggie. The cat was still in a bit of shock after all the tonight's revelations and stressful situation they've been through, so he decided he'd rather quietly process the information than bark over the calm and collected wolf.
>maggie talks to mog
>mog responds to maggie
>mog then asks where's maggie
kek
>>
>>5659344
With utmost care and delicacy that belied his strength Mog handed the girl the moon-touched ring of amber. "From Lanesboro, or Elder Swift in reality. An artifact blessed by one of my Goddesses. We've buried the hatchet with your strange keepers who kept you in that fridge for so long. Make sure the ring is exposed to moonlight for eight hours every night, if you do so then it'll allow you to transform into another creature for twelve hours during the day. You'll be able to go into villages and interact with animals like a normal person from now on. Take care of that ring, it's the only thing between you and an army of bounty hunters chasing after us. I gave Swift an oath to protect you in exchange, don't take it for granted."
>>
>>5659349
lol, my mistake, thought it was Bobby who was talking to me. herp derp

>>5659350
Despite potentially losing one of his means of transport, Kinny remained stonefaced when Mog gave the polymorphic ring to the human. He would fondly remember Maggie's shoulder.

>It's been a while since she has bugs that small again.
>Especially with it encased in amber.
>Gave it a feeling that this was from a long time ago.
>She then looked over to the wolf.
"I promise to give it the best care I can possibly give it."
>She examined the ring again.
>She then carefully puts it on her ring finger.
>Fits perfectly.
"So... how exactly do I activate it's magic do I have to say a magic chant or-"
>Before she could even finish her sentence, there was a sudden small puff of smoke.
>Almost a comical size as it covered her whole body.
>The human soon coughed for a bit as the smoke cleared.
>She then shook a bit.
"Fucking hell! Feels like I got choked for a bit by a pair of hands."
>Most of your companion animals just stared at her.
>Dumbfound by her... new look.
"What?"
>>

I mean...you can still ride on her shoulder depending on what she changes into.

>lewd
What can I say? What's not to love about two big, lovely, round orbs? Praise the Moon!

>>5659357
...

...

...

"Awwoooooo!" the moonchaser howled at the moon. His Goddess was taunting him in a most cruel way. He didn't envy her sense of humour.

The dumbstruck silence broken, Mog hid his embarrassment at the sight of Maggie and his sudden outburst with a quip "There you are Kinny, still perfectly sized for you to catch a ride on. Ey?"
>>
>>5659357
The smoke explosion caught Kinny, who had no experience with most magic, completely off-guard. The cat hissed loudly and jumped away at the safe distance, but calmed down when he realized there was no fire, his ears weren't ringing and the coughy cloud was quickly dissipating. When the smoke revealed the new-Maggie, he just stared at her for a brief moment with a critical eye, before saying. "So do we call you Moggie now?"
>>5659365
"Mmmmm, yess." Kinny purred. Not all was lost. Even though the human form had superior height to a wolf, he could still hop on Maggie if necessary. It'd just be harder to justify now... and possibly more awkward. If she was weaker, then maybe he should try riding on Mog, instead? The cat glanced at his companion. "Nuh-uh, too much metal." He murmured, before returning his gaze to the female wolf.
mfw trying not to say "I'm not the one who'll be riding her now"
>>
>>5659372
>>5659357
Mog tensed, his fur bristling as he caught Kinny's gaze. "Don't even think about it." he chided.

He relaxed as Kinny returned his gaze back towards Maggie. The danger of having a lazy cat clinging to him all day with sharp claws now passed, Mog could now appreciate Kinny's joke. "Honestly, you joke, or at least I think you do, but Moggie works. It's a real wolf name. Up to you though Mags"

kek, this can only get more awkward.
>>
>>5659365

>Maggie gave out a weird look.
>She tried walking over the both of you trying as she was about to ask Kinny what he meant.
>Only to stumble a lot, not being used to walking on all fours.
"SHIT! FUCK! DAMN! CRAP! MOTHER FUCKER!"
>The human turned wolf swore as she stumbled and fell into the calm river.
>It was then she noticed that she had paws.
>Then she noticed the tail.
>Then she finally saw her own reflection.
"Ah what the hell?! Does this ring only turn me into a wolf?"
>She then looked over to Mog.
>Feeling slightly embarrassed.
"No offense... and that wasn't a complaint just an observation."

>Well...
>Kinny could easily see a small pile of random clothes where the human once stood.
>Sure he didn't understand the magic of polymorphing but he did grasp a bit of the basics.
>Someone can transform into anything.
>As for Mog, well he knew that you had to think about what you wanted to become as you were using the spell.
>Though he wasn't expecting Maggie to turn into a wolf.
>She probably had him on her mind as she was still asking him her questions and that was why she bacame a wolf.
>Makes the most logical sense.
>Meanwhile Maggie was still trying to get used to her new body as she was stumbling across the river.
"Umm... a little help here? Maybe help me find a way to turn back."
>This was really simple for you two to figure out.
>All you had to do was pull the ring off.
What do you do?
>>
>>5659408
"Uh...I don't know how the polymorph spell really works aside from that it transforms you into something else. Hmm...thinking back to when our party had more than just us...El-Reed always still had his gear after he transformed with his wildshape abilities, so I think Maggie should still have all her stuff." Mog guessed.

Stahp! Oh god, don't even go there.

Better keep it on though, I'm not sure if it loses its accumulated charge if you take it off, plus you'll just end up naked and freezing in the river if you do. Probably safer to travel this way anyways, you'll have to learn to walk eventually, better to do that on the road than just before we have to enter a town. Next time just envision what you want to transform into before you put on the ring in order to determine what you become." Mog said. Then he helped her out of the river.

"Uh, let me take a look, guys." Seeing his companions fail to make sens of the door, Kinny sighed and moved on from his "book" to help them examine the thing more closely. But not after he was done with his little investigation.

>Which meant it really had to be bad, if Kinny was able to smell the horrible fungus growing within the door.

I just had a terrifying realization
If insects have increased in size due to the nihmian cascade the same thing making us sapient intelligent beings, what did it do to crustaceans?

"Better follow Kinny's advice Ursus, the door smells foul. We should watch the forest floor as well for a similar smell. For now I'll take a sample." Mog advised.

Taking out one of his old potion bottles and a piece of char cloth from his tinderbox he swabbed a little bit of the fungus from the door into the bottle.

Upon seeing the oil barrels, Kinny turned to Moggie. "What is this stuff? Looks dangerous but I found it in that car, too."

"Toxic sludge, sticky and poisonous. Still, if you've got leftover potion bottles from the hellbot fight or your oil bottles from when you set up the timed candle during the heist then you could fill them up with some of this stuff. Just do so with care should you choose to do that, any of this stuff that gets on you isn't coming off easily, but it may be worth it as a glue or fuel." Mog reluctantly admitted.

He then turned to investigate the metal box between the tires and the oil barrel.

"Might wanna put on your earmuffs, Kinny! Whatever's coming sounds loud and it is about to get louder when I hit it with my upgraded sword." Mog warned, drawing his broadsword as he did so. He moved east of the metal container, between the two trees nearby, a good chokepoint to hold off multiple attackers from flanking him if need be.

He addressed the fighters and turned to the female (and mule (and fox)) part of the group.
>>5659661

The rogue then followed his own advice and swiftly hid in the shadows, so that he could shove the fiery dagger up the angry beast's ass when it was least expecting it. Assuming it had one.

Btw I have the sentinel feet it’s in the phb
You have mastered techniques to take advantage of every drop in any enemy's guard, gaining the following benefits.

When you hit a creature with an opportunity attack, the creature's speed becomes 0 for the rest of the turn.
Creatures provoke opportunity attacks from you even if they take the Disengage action before leaving your reach.
When a creature makes an attack against a target other than you (and that target doesn't have this feat), you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature.

Also, not to backseat game, but technically it would be more optimal for you to use your cunning action to Disengage, so you don't take an Attack of Opportunity. You already have enough movement to move away without dashing, you are allowed to break up your movement like move+attack+move without dashing usually. If you dash instead of disengaging the Owlbear will get a free attack on you for moving out of it's zone of control.

Just wanna encourage you and say I feel this combat encounter was more fair than our prior encounters in regards to us getting the opportunity to position ourselves and react before the alerted owlbears arrived. Likewise the failed stealth check had the appropriate consequence I feel, it alerted enemies without any additional bullshit like the mice putting out our fire or being able to hear us without us hearing them, or like the hellbot tunnelling through meters of concrete and dirt before we could really react. Seems like a decent encounter too, given all our gear makes us much stronger now.
