>What is this?
"The Mystery Dungeons" is a text-based role-playing game created to expand on the setting created by the spinoff series, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (particularly Explorers of Sky). Players isekai themselves into the world and become Pokémon, going on adventures with their newfound guild mates! SFW ONLY

Want to catch up on the story? Previous Threads:
https://rentry.org/TMD_LHG-megasummary

>I'd like to participate!
Always feel free to join in to see if it will stick with you. People come and go as they please, but there are plenty of regulars, including artists and writers. Outside the main quests hosted here on /qst/ twice a week, a majority of side quests, lore, and role play happen almost all the time on the Element!

>How do I play?
First, fate must decide which Pokémon you become: https://randompokemon.com

Settings to Use: Generate 1, All Regions, All Types, all boxes checked (natures optional if you feel like giving your Pokémon a little extra in characterization).
Take a screenshot so we know you probably weren't lying—admittedly, while rerolling is frowned upon (although no one has any real issue with it)—after all, it's just something you and your conscience have to deal with!
Alternatively, if you're feeling much more truthful, go ahead and roll in the thread for your Pokémon! (1d905). Some legendaries and mythicals have been dropped from the available roster. Assume that the box art legendaries are unavailable.

>Okay, now what?
Join the Element and read the sticky, it has the (almost) complete starter guide! It'll show you how to set up your character profile, create locations to play in, and record the lore of your exploits: https://matrix.to/#/#themysterydungeons:matrix.org. A majority of side quests, lore, and role play happen here! Otherwise, the two (usually) weekly sessions push the main stories along.

If you feel you might need help, feel free to ask!

Our next LIVE main adventures start on Saturdays around 7:30PM in this thread!

Namefag as your character, with your item and level!

It's a calm early evening in the guild. A lot of activities wrapped up faster than most had expected, so a majority of the members have decided to turn in for a longer night's rest. As (mostly) everyone drifts away into the collective dreamscape and into the realm of unadulterated imagination... something lurks around in the fabric of fantasies.

Despite your body slumbering, your mind is definitely wide awake. You find yourself standing and staring up at a starry field. You look around to see wispy outlines of your friends. They, too, seem just as bewildered as you are. Whatever you had been dreaming of prior had been ripped apart abruptly and subsequently cast into lucidity.

There is a pulse of light and a banner of stars coalesces into a creature. She stares down at you, a look of pity and disappointment.

I suppose I hadn't made myself clear. Or did you forget? I know those who wander the dreamscape tend to lose their waking grasp on what occurs. It seems she is waiting for an answer.

Charles tips his hat in a decent manner. How distinguished.

Theodore looks closer at himself, a quick glance reaffirms his presence in the dreamscape. His body, while definitely his, feels off. Like a memory.

Please, don't play coy. I know at least some of you recall something. She keeps her distance, frowning. And your recent actions... those have been committed in your plane. You cannot deny your involvement. Your interference is causing problems. And it is dangerous. Whoever is telling you to do these strange, nonsensical things, you should cease listening to them.

Cresselia floats lower to the starry ground, cycling her gaze around the group. What we're trying to do... we'll be fixing the cycle. Repair what is broken. Everyone gets to be happy. If you keep acting as interlopers... you might just jeopardize everything we are trying to do. And you'll be the ones to blame when it all goes wrong. You haven't the faintest clue what you're even trying to accomplish, do you? Cresselia's voice is dismissive.

You do one thing, and suddenly you believe that you stand above the others. I do not want to insult the Visionary, but they are... detached from our cycle. From what we experience. Cresseliaa huffs, shaking her head. She begins floating up again, circling the dreamscape. If the Visionary cared so much about making a meaningful change, we would not be where we are now, interlopers. Life is trapped and recycled in the nightmares that plague the land. Forever trapped and suffering endlessly in a broken cycle. How long now? How much longer?

You know nothing, and your friend is misinformed or manipulating you. The unfortunate deserve their rest. And your interference stands in the way of healing the planet.

>>5637542
Perhaps Theodore should've watched his words. Cresselia studies him carefully, staring at him longer than what feels comfortable. I see, thank you...

A terrorist? Is that what you want to call me? Tch... I was bestowed this station by a power higher than you, and all I do is in service for that greater good. The suffering is temporary, like Sitrus on a wound. But please, say whatever you need to justify it to your conscious.

Vee takes note of what >>5637586 Poli says, and he agrees. "Tell us the problem and what we can do to help, or we'll have to figure out how to fix it ourselves, without your input."
Vee isn't angry so much as he's frustrated by the manner in which every Legendary Pokémon he's met has been wholly incapable of understanding what the less-Mythical Pokémon of the world want. I expected more maturity from those who bore a chosen mark. Regardless. If we are successful, those 'Mystery Dungeons' would become a passing bad memory. Forgotten as the land is freed. Good progress has already been made, and your continued actions do nothing to help or fix the situation. She glares at Vee. I am the one out of touch? Perhaps you should watch your words. You think you have been entrusted to bear the weight of everything should it come to you. You believe that you must be at the center to 'fix' the broken. To 'save' the world.

What I'm asking you to do is cease. Interlopers, your journey and destiny have been fulfilled. Rest and let things be.

Time has no meaning in the realm of dreams. She stares down at Kaku. Despite what I am, I do not fight. I have no desire to answer that primal urge. Interloper, you embody what you are much more than you let on.

>>5637599
Cresselia seems unbothered. In the realm of dreams where she resides, the mental damage slides off like water upon polished steel.

>>5637600
There is none other who would be more concerned, who would be more in touch with the waking plane, and who understands our plight better than the embodiment of mortality. He has entrusted me to be the messenger. Let us work in peace, interlopers. Cresselia is facing away now, looking to something distant and unnoticeable. Your actions will speak louder than your words. I'll know your answers soon enough, regardless of what you might tell me here.

"Embodiment of mortality"?
Wait, are you talking about Yvetal or Xerneas? That's a new title for either of them, to me at least.

Vee isn't in a situation in which he needs anyone's approval, so defending himself is pointless despite his previous attempt to be reasonable. He might as well enjoy himself. What's more important is what Cresselia has just revealed.

"Alright, I guess we won't be working together." Vee shrugs. "It's more fun this way, so who cares?"

He takes up a more comfortable position, now that Cresselia has been rude enough to turn away from the conversation.
"Mystery Dungeons are an integral part of society. Because of them, Pokémon find food, learn to become stronger, and enjoy themselves! If you're so keen on getting rid of them, then there's no mistaking which side you're on, and what side I'M on, at least. You're gonna have to work EXTRA hard to ruin our way of life!"

I do not meddle with the strings of reality. I can only interpret what they might say. Whether that mark has a rippling weight, I do not know. All I know is that all of you are interlopers in one way or another. Cresselia turns back around to look bewildered at Charles. What? Yes. We plan to silence them forever and release the life trapped within. Settle the imbalance and bring back harmony.

She looks at Sableye. They both share their roles in the cycle and both have their stake in how this goes. In any case, meddling with stability breeds instability. Once everything has been gathered, everything shall be settled.

>>5637629
Cresselia is taken off guard against the sudden unintentional hostility. You can tell now it's not her real body as it whispers and waves under the influence of the Shadow Claw. She lets out an unearthly wail before quickly bringing down her wing upon Theodore. In a flash of smoke, stars, and dreams, Theodore has been temporarily turned into an apple. I brought you here under the pretense of peace! Do not test my patience!

>>5637635
She hisses at Vee, clutching the part of her face that had been intersected by the claw. Life had been fine before the dungeons! You're messing with things you don't understand." He passionately refutes her words. "Rest and let things be," he says, just as she did earlier.

>Sable puts up his hands in a "chill the fuck out" gesture
Hey, I didn't come here to fight. Granted, I was brought here against my will, but I'm still not here to fight. Don't lump me in with those guys.
Regardless, I feel like something so radical as resetting the world or doing... whatever it is you're doing has to be okay'd by Lord Arceus first. Have any of you spoken to him about this?
Besides, Pokemon across the world have put systems in place to assist anyone that finds themselves in a dungeon. Your group making more of them is only going to make the problem much worse and stretch the limited resources that the guilds have across the breaking point. This method of making things "right" doesn't seem very effective or justified to me. We literally went beyond time to give the world a chance at life, this is a bit of a sore spot for us if you wanna just wipe the slate clean like Lords Arceus and Dialga planned to.
>>
>>5637648
Poli is getting very annoyed at this. You can tell, because he's starting to talk a little more seriously. "You say you brought us here under the pretense of peace, but it's just a pretense, isn't it?" Poli begins, "You don't actually care for my motivations, nor anyone else's here, 'cause you brushed 'em all off! And when anyone asks you anything, you just talk in more empty words in riddles. You're testing MY patience! So if you'll excuse me..." Poli begins trying to walk away. He's not even sure where he's going, but that won't stop him!

You are not entirely wrong. There are those who have resided long enough within the nightmare to become shrouded in its unbreakable grasp. They do not serve any particular purpose or function. They were not created. 'Ley lines' are the expression of the core as it bleeds out across the world. Subsequently, this intense energy can be harnessed or crystallized. Cresselia conjures up the planet and begins showing off the glowing lines running across the world. If you were paying attention, you realize some parts fit in with your maps... And they have been 'messed up.' For a long time now. When all was well, there was no such thing as 'Mystery Dungeons.' Reality did not decide to erode the borders and intersect with dreams. Yet here we are now, and the problem is growing exponentially uncontrollable.

I think you still do not understand, Goodra. The goal is to save them. If their prison is null, then there shall be nothing to keep them trapped. All your efforts thus far will just slow down their full rescue and prevent any more similar tragedies.

Kaku and Poli wake up where ever they had been sleeping before. They feel lightly exhausted, as if they did a moderate amount of jogging.

Tintoretto is also chewing on Theodore's ear, muttering something about apples.

We're trying to fix the ley lines... I think. How is that conflicting with what you're doing? Also, I'm not buying that they don't serve a purpose. They clearly are being messed with to create dungeons, there's something important that they do that is being tampered with.

I said they do not have a specific purpose. Cresselia lets the dream projection fade away. Still, your personal tampering with the ley lines does not make our efforts any easier. Too many adventurers in one dungeon, so to speak. I ask that you convince your friends to let us work in resolving this once and for all.

>>5637709
Cresselia nods.

>>5637717
I already asked. As I have spoken, your actions mean more to me than your own words as well. Perhaps we will be meeting in waking plane soon enough if you continue down this path.

Our time in this realm will end soon. Cresselia announces. That is out of my control.

Over time, you've felt your body solidifying and gaining greater detail. However, your lucidity wanes with each passing moment. The stars begin to fade in the sky as it turns to a shade of mellowed orange. Cresselia's image begins to grow increasingly hazy and unfocused.

You're waking up.

A couple of days has passed since the visit from Cresselia in the dream world. Sneasel had been informed of the slip-up regarding her involvement and was strangely silent about the whole ordeal—did she care in the slightest, or was she quietly fuming? Considering how secretive she was, who knew. In any case, it's been an uneventful few days in the guild base, currently where you are now. Despite not being psychic, you've been having... ominous premonitions.

Theo stares at Charles and blinks.
"She's trying to save the world, right? I honestly don't understand what's happening most of the time here at our company."

He sets his paws on his hips. "All I understand is that we're in the business of dungeoneering and that Brock is my boss. Sneasel contracted us to survey a dungeon because of the planeterium inside revealed the location to somewhere- and now Cresselia is trying to subvert our project."

He blinks again. "I think? My head still feels like the screws aren't tightened. It's hard to think."

As you all chat amongst yourselves, uneasy as you can be, for a brief second the sky darkens. A huge, sweeping form cruises against the sky, casting its shadow down on the guild. It lingers in a circling pattern before you can see it spiraling down to the caldera. A strange looking Pokémon, with clawed black-veined wings and a gray, feathery collar. The head is crowned by two scything horns. Its overall appearance is nothing but sinister, and it radiates only killing intent.

It comes to a hovering stop just above the lake, staring into the guild through the caldera's entrance.

"Show yourselves!" The creature's voice is commanding as it shouts out.

What do you do?

"What're you calling us out for?"
>>
>>5643494
Vee pokes his head out from the bench.
"We've got an intruder."

He scuttles out from under it and sprints to the entrance to the caldera, looking for a nice tree to climb up into, or a bush to sneak through once everyone's showed up.

>Confront the stranger...
Theodore's head snaps 180 degrees towards the hall before turning the rest of his body around.
"Sounds like someone is looking for us," he says, "Let's go meet them."

Theodore waddles out to the Caldera where he spots the strange pokemon. Some. .. weirds must be crossed in his head, the feeling of terror is confused.

"I care little of what land you claim as yours, my missions supercede these intangible notions of ownership upon the earth!" Her voice roars. Her neck cranes further down, eyes flashing a brighter blue. "I was recently informed of your attempts to interfere with the sacred cycle, of which I will not take kindly to. I have been placed in charge of safeguarding this natural process, and I will not have mortals attempting to believe they are above it!"

It seems she is much too focused on resolving more pressing matters than to indulge Tintoretto's curiosity.

"What is your defense, mortals?" she questions, threateningly.

Yveltal gives a brief side glance, almost looking unimpressed.

>>5643531
"The sacred cycle that connects all living things! The one of life and death! You all have been plotting and conspiring to break the cycle entirely...!" Yveltal rattles off. Considering this personally involves her charge, it seems entirely reasonable she is mad. However... you haven't been trying to do that, right?

>>5643541
"The average law-abiding do not tamper with ancient space-time relics," she retorts. "And my opinion on your society's ideas of right or wrong matters little for what I do. Considering how they have been multiplying at an unprecedented speed, you have not much to speak for in your own defense!"

"The time loops are not what I am concerned about, they have been resolved. But, yes, I found them repulsive and abominable! I had already considered the dungeons detestable enough..." Her attention goes to Bind as she stares him down. "The truth is that you are trying to plunge this world into chaos. To let it be swallowed whole by a grand Mystery Dungeon that imprisons the world. Really, in all of this, I'd say we fit more on the roll of 'investigators' or something, not the cause of it.

"I trust the Dreamer and my sibling much more than any of you. I acknowledge the good you have done for this world, but I cannot let that simply overshadow this transgression! Now... will you promise to stand down or must I interfere?" Yveltal asks.

"Then I will know the kind of damage you have wrought by letting that information come to light. I will know how deep this all goes if you are stopped and the mastermind's machinations continue. There is a reason why that temple was abandoned. The room for abuse was too much!" Yveltal shouts, slowly increasing her altitude over the group. "Your role, humans, has already been fulfilled. No investigation on your part must be done! Did Cresselia not say that much? Let the matters of life and death be handled accordingly."

A resounding screech fills the caldera as Yveltal is encased by a sinister red aura, peeling off with wispy strands. The tension in the air seems almost choking. As you brace yourself, you watch as energy dances off of the bird's clawed wings, coalescing into dark spheres. Just as quickly as they were formed, her wings slam themselves together, releasing a pulse of light and energy. You feel a rush of wind pass over you.

Her claws release their interlocked grip on each other, unleashing the beam!
>Roll an additional 20. Whoever rolls the closest to this post's number is struck by the attack!

Yveltal returns to hovering over the area, and cleaves her wings in two swooping motions, releasing devastating blades of air. They cut through the space, impacting Bind and Citrine. "Perhaps this shall remind you why defiance leads nowhere!" It seems she wasn't pleased by their actions previously.

Charles plops to the ground, avoiding the catastrophic blast of energy as it soars overhead, nearly catching his hat in the aftermath! Quickly regaining his composure, he strikes Yveltal with a sprinkling of corrosive goo! A pained and annoyed hiss escapes from her clenched beak as she gazes down below, dismissive.

>>5656791
Sableye returns fire with some rock-powered light, attempting to slice Yveltal right out of the air. The beams leave behind residual burn marks, marring the red on her wings with a darker shade of burnt.

However, the gemlin was so focused on begging for peace that he failed to notice just how close he was to Oblivion's path. Without a second to think, he's immediately covered in a column of searing, hot pain. The world goes dark! As it subsides, Sableye feels like he's been tossed around like a punching bag between two Machamps.

Vee takes a moment to munch down on a Violent Seed. He can feel the violence coursing through his mind and veins. He's Vee-iolent, now. For sure. He watches as Sableye is struck by a dread-inducing red beam. Perhaps it is the signature move of Yveltal...

>>5656803
The book Theo tossed at him hits his head instead of being caught. He shakes off the strange feeling and begins his assault on Yveltal by turning up the heat! The fire just barely manages to scorch the bird's talons, causing them to flinch back.

>>5656810
Bind takes the moment to limber up after Citrine took the attack for him, stretching and preparing to get into the thick of it. The only combat he's had recently is trying to tackle paperwork, so this should be a real workout!

YVELTAL TURN 2
>>
Her clawed wing-hands clench together, balling up into fists as they draw in swirling air. As the howling wind grows stronger, she opens up her claws and does a half-dive, unleashing two calamitous twisters upon the group!

The rolling air marches toward Charles and tosses him around before violently smashing him back into the beach of the lake.
>Charles takes 310 damage and becomes Confused!

As the poor Goodra is left to reorganize his senses, the second Hurricane passes by, moving right on top of Stern's position. It quickly picks him up as the strong winds almost ignite with the Emboar's flames, leaving a flaming tornado in its wake! He's eventually tossed out and sent to slam into a nearby tree.

Watching Sable get blasted is all he needs, and Vee takes the moment to cool himself down. His heart rate, much faster than he realized, slows down a bit, and he runs it through his mind.

The plan goes as follows, Vee imagines it as if it were reality; Vee charges up his Obli-veon Wing, taking a crackshot at Yveltal, before sprinting out of the tree with Quick Attack and into concealment before she can track him. Rinse, and repeat.

Now, all that's left is to try it. Hopefully it'll be easy, but considering what happened the last few times he's tried to replicate a Legendary Move... We'll see.

Kaku manages to whip his hair up into an elongated arm, forming it for the perfect slap. There's a crack as Yveltal is smacked in the side, causing her wings to stutter as she tries to keep herself airborne. A second sideswipe appears out of left field, performed by none other than Charles! The attack visibly shunts Yveltal off to the right by two feet as her wings beat harder to prevent a sudden meeting with the ground.

Their arms feel strangely numb.
>Kaku and Charles take 50HP damage...

>>5656831
Theodore places the strength into his legs to leap skyward, aiming to grapple with Yveltal. Considering the extreme (relatively) distance between the two, Theodore almost misses the mark. However, he manages to grab onto the clawed hand-tail at the last moment, barely holding on. Yveltal looks down and caws angrily. "Begone!" she cries out, shaking the Bewear around violently.

Theodore can feel his grip feeling weaker.
>Theodore takes 50HP damage...

>>5656836
Stern, still reeling from the sky-blender he was forcefully volunteered to experience, composes his thoughts and rushes head-first, literally, into battle. He jumps up and smashes his head into the base of Yveltal's tail, the furthest point he could reliably reach. This knocks Yveltal down slightly lower to the ground.

Stern feels a headache coming on.
>Stern takes 50HP damage...

>>5656842
Seeing Yveltal's moves, Vee attempts the same thing. It's no easy feat to recreate the move perfectly after having just watched it, but he'll try anyway! He feels a rumbling energy coursing through him as a blast of energy comes roaring out, covering his body is pulsating darkness. Yveltal looks on in surprise as her own Oblivion returns to her. Vee doesn't let up as he follows with a blurring dash, tackling Yveltal's stomach. He bounces back to the ground, recovering from the strange feeling of exertion.

Vee feels exhausted. Almost as if firing that beam and being in physical contact with Yveltal drained some of his own energy in the process.
>Vee was successful! However, he takes 100HP damage...

>>5656843
Sable decides to hold onto mark, exchanging his chance to fight one last time! Raising another set of glittery stones to channel energy, he launches an attack to sear the bird with pinpoint lasers! As his attack finishes, so does his will to fight. Dark smoke emanates from his body as it begins to pulse with red streaks of light. It grows brighter and brighter... until an echoing boom craters the area around Sableye! Grass and plants that were around him die immediately as the deathly implosion causes Sable to faint on the spot.

He stiffly collapses to the ground.

Bind turns himself into a living wheel for just a bit more speed, before taking that rolling momentum and springing his body up into the air with the help of his ears. With his agility and dexterity, he reaches Yveltal's height, legs locked like a spike. As soon as Bind reaches the apex of his arc, he unleashes a flurry of kicks and deftly springboards off of his opponent with a flourish. He lands on the ground with the help of his ears acting as cushions.

His legs feel oddly worn out. As if he went for a long, long walk.
>Bind takes 50HP damage!

>>5656842
Correction: Vee uses his Quick Attack to escape into concealment. Considering he's fast and small enough, Yveltal has no idea where to track the little thing that just sent an Oblivion Wing her way.

YVELTAL TURN 3

She lets out a screeching roar as she's fallen a significant height down from her original position in the air, pushing the water of the lake around with her weighty beating wings. "I will not forgive your insolence!" Yveltal screams.

Her clawed wings quickly slam together and produces another crackling sphere of death. Wreathed in darkness and death, she flicks her wing-hands open and lets a pulsing beam seek out its next target. The pillar of energy slices through the air...

It worked! Though, Oblivion Wing certainly doesn't feel good to use... Maybe it'll only be of use when it's needed.

He looks out through the bush, flinching as he hears Bind scream for Sable. Seems like he's dead thrice now. Vee feels like he has to do something... He keeps track of his count. One, two. One more move to go until his Last Resort.

Bind once again sends himself into the air. However, he's not hoping to attack this time. For a second, as he goes soaring int othe air, his trajectory and his eyes tell him he's about to miss. With a stroke of luck, he manages to grip onto the wispy gray plumage. Bind, using Yveltal's fluffy collar as leverage, manages to smack into Yveltal's back, barely holding on.

>>5656900
Vee is much too small now and already previously in cover. There's no way Yveltal would have noticed him moving around. He's in a completely different area now, so he should be safe from the beam. It's already hit its target, anyway...

YVELTAL TURN 4

"You dare retaliate and have the gall to insult me!?" she screeches, fluttering higher even as Bind is throwing off her balance. Her right claws tense up before bringing them across Kaku's face in a swooping lunge. She's Lashing Out!
>Kaku takes 329 damage!

She returns to the skies, but it's clear that the fight is already taking its toll on her. As she analyzes the situation, including the bunny on her back, Yveltal raises her wings up. A shroud of purple light envelops her body, wreathing her in ghostly flames. She tucks her body together and falls toward the lake. Like a graceful dart, she slips beneath its surface without adding even the slightest ripple to the already tumultuous water's surface.
>Yveltal used Phantom Force!

Bind feels himself being compressed in a dark tunnel. Where did he go!? Why are there voices trying to speak to him!? It's all too quiet and too loud at the same time!

YVELTAL TURN 5

A dark portal forms underneath Charles' legs. At first, there's no noticing the difference between it and his own cast shadow... but once the signs show themselves, there's no reacting fast enough! A violent collision occurs as ghostly energies attempt to enter a space already occupied by something else. The Goodra is flung into the air, tumbling uncontrollably.
>Charles takes 210 damage!

Yveltal, now suddenly in the center of the main group, raises her wings and sweeps up a storm of dust and debris. The ensuing hurricane of wind collides with Citrine.
>Citrine takes 112 damage!

Still on the ground, she twists to face around. Staring down Kaku, she wraps her wing-hand around his body and releases a crackling pulse of energy. "How does this legend feel now?"

Mark of Yveltal Δ

His anguish has clouded his judgement. Charles' emotions flood his attack as the meteors seem to be thrown all around the caldera. With their Superpowered Strength, the pointed boulder practically flies through the air, passing over the other guildmembers as it strikes Yveltal on the right wing, sending her to the ground as it shatters and pins her down.

Yveltal cries out in pain as she unceremoniously hits the dirt.

Yveltal is interrupted as she's struck by a multitude of high-powered attacks, silencing anything else she had to say. Stern comes rushing in from the shore to launch his Superpower, pushing Yveltal with a weighty blow. A precise hurtling meteor from Charles explodes directly onto her back, showering the area in flaming dragon energy. Sable, emotional, gemlins in close and just backhands Yveltal in the beak. Kaku delivers a devestating combo with an impressive opening and a less flashy finish. But, it's clear the damage in this wave of attacks is absolutely too much for her!

There's a brief flash of light as Yveltal's aura turns a shade of pink instead of the previously imposing color. Confused, she raises her arm up to see a certain Lopunny's ears caught between the claws, dangling awkwardly. He's holding a withered pink flower. She quickly drops him as Citrine blasts her wing-hand.

Holding her body up by just the wings, she looks bewildered at how she's failing miserably. "No..." she rasps.

Suddenly, a bubbling shadow bursts from beneath her and out comes a plucky little Eevee wrapped in ghostly shadows, slamming right into her lower jaw. With a final caw, Yveltal slumps to the ground. Vee bounces from shadow to shadow before rolling out into the sunlight.

You all realize how draining the fight has been, especially for those who had been in constant close contact with the goddess.

Six more rings pop into place alongside the first. Out of them shoot three pairs of pale, clawed arms, rocketting downward and pinning Yveltal into the ground. Most of them immediately wrestle the ashen phoenix into a stable grab, but one pair spares a gesture towards the guild, a lift with upturned palms; it's a shrug?
The disembodied limbs return for a forceful grip onto Yveltal's shoulders, and in a second they've lifted the confused and shrieking bird into the giant ring with frightening deft and ease. He scratches his ear. "He didn't seem like the order and balance type. Maybe he's his own party?"

Vee continues expressing his thoughts. "Whatever it is, it seems like beating Yveltal either made her realize we're serious about this, or she's trying to get us one last time. If the second thing is true, then Seedyside's with us. If the first is true, then who knows? I'm inclined to believe her. She wasn't malicious, just..." he pauses. "Well, we had a misunderstanding."

In any case, you must find the "edge of the world, with a spark of life for all who wish to enter. A place where the dead do not dare roam..."

Having prepared and volunteered for the mission: Poli, Kaku, Astor, and Theodore have departed the Grass Continent via Lapras Liner, following the directions outlined on the map. For a couple of hours, the group simply heads in a seemingly aimless direction. A feeling in your gut demands that the Lapras is lost. Considering there are no indications of landmarks on the map or with your naked eye to compare with, you're increasingly inclined to believe this unsubstantiated feeling. But you all decide to persevere anyway.

It's around midday when the Lapras suddenly stops over an equally barren patch of watery nothingness. "We're here," she says, settling down into the calm motion of the ocean. "Are you sure this is where you want to be? I've had to escort teams out to oceanic dungeons before... but I didn't know of anything here."

Considering your lack of ocean-going experience, all you have is the Lapras' word that she can navigate and read your map properly. As far as you're concerned, this is where you need to be... or you're in the completely wrong place.

Considering that you have no other option but to simply head down below the water, this is the only route you can take. Dipping into the sea, you allow your vision to adjust before trying to look around. While you might not have much to reach whatever your supposed destination may be, you can already tell there's nothing to see here. At least at first.

None of this is exactly promising... it's just dark ocean or barren seafloor.

and begins walking at a Sliggoo's pace.
>>
>>5663371
Theodore swims through the water, paddling his stubby legs towards the floor and looking for a cave, perhaps a latch to some door?

He wonders if Stern could've been of any help. The Emboar was a scuba diver before.
>>
>>5663372
>>5663376
Tinto is here, for some reason? There is no beach here. They are in the middle of the ocean.

>>5663374
Poli heads down to inspect the floor thoroughly. It's a lengthy two-way trip of floating and sinking. Moving rocks or disturbed sand around doesn't yield any substantial results. As he moves around, it's kind of interesting to see that the rocks form a pattern... or a shape?

Hey, wait a second. Poli might be onto something...

>>5663380
Kaku has limited air and time below the waters... His general shape has distorted into resembling a hairy Tangela.

>>5663382
Theodore manages to force his rather extra-buoyant body deeper below the waves, searching for an entrance. There are no doors or caves around here, simply just sand and sparse rocks.

From your position closer to the surface, you can't see much from up here, as the light bleeds away into darker waters.

As the light above them is swallowed by the waters, they have no choice but to keep going...

...they can see Poli up ahead.

>>5663407
>>5663417
Poli is much more confident, considering he's a Water-type. Cutting across to the objective and following the vague direction offered by the sign he begins to see why their objective was not immediately obvious. The shape of the ocean floor is smoothed to the point of obscuring anyone from the surface from even spotting it. Had you not been alerted to look here, you would've missed it entirely. As you move closer, it's baffling to see how this could even be covered by a simple visual trick.

The abyssal trench is absolutely titanic, stretching wide enough to swallow Wailords whole.

Astor is somewhere behind, struggling to "fly" underwater. He is definitely not going to make it at the rate he is flopping around at.

There is no shortage of rocks for Theodore to appropriate to plunge himself deeper into the darkness. Grappling a sufficiently weighty enough boulder immediately begins sinking him. Kaku, meanwhile, simply keeps swimming. Astor keeps forcefully "flying" down to the rest of the group, scooping his wings like some sort of makeshift paddle. He's making decent progress.

For all of those who need air, a strange repetitive song plays in your mind. As if you're running short on oxygen, and by extension, time...!

Tinto follows them down to the depths.

>>5663441
>>5663444
And unless Poli can read sign language (and for that matter, the other members of the party having the sufficient appendages to communicate in a wordless fashion) there's no way for the non Water-types to speak!

Deeper and deeper, the pressure is mounting to desire a fresh gulp of air. How much longer? There is no more light now...

...Theodore, Astor, and Kaku can feel their faces prickling and their vision swirling...

Suddenly, they breach the surface? Poli gracefully exits the water, with Tinto simply orienting himself to an upright position. However, the other three tumble out and collapse against damp sand. Huh? While the darkness is pervasive, it's not all-consuming to the point of being impossible to navigate. This means you can see. As you look around, you notice that there are pockets of water suspended over inky-black crevasses. The ceiling is even weirder, as it is also suspended ocean. It's as if gravity selectively stopped working.

At least there's air.

>>5663475
Astor is still in fight or flight, and oxygen-drunkenly scatters himself to the water ceiling, crashing into it with a loud splash. Continuing with the weird spatial trend, none of it actually falls to the ground below. For everyone looking at Astor, it just looks as if he's actually wrestling with a static wall of water. Kaku and Theodore can only view the place in confusion. It's clear from here that they can use the suspended water to cross the otherwise impassable gaps, but how could this be? Is this a dungeon?

Poli, however, seems to hold a healthy respect and awe for the location.

>>5663469
Tinto keeps trying to go down, but it seems the water is becoming increasingly dense, even for a ghost like himself... why does it feel like the abyss is staring back?

>>5663476
Further ahead, with the basic light offered by the bioluminescent deep sea dwellers, there seems to be a main chamber. Four pillar-like vents seem to be spewing clouds of debris. All kinds of Crustaceans can be seen scuttling around. Even further past that seems to be a weak current spiraling through an abyssal stretch of water. Maybe that's where you need to go...
>>
>>5663478

"That seems like the way to do it yeah!"
>>
>>5663480
Using the suspended water to cross into the main chamber, inspecting the four hydrothermal vents reveals that one of them has a partial obstruction. While it's quite hot, you could probably remove or push it further into place.

Your choices:
>Push obstruction into place.
>Remove obstruction.

>>5663481
A dark shape flits past Tinto, causing him to spin out of control just with the sheer force of moving through the water. Was that a warning?

>>5663482
Kaku swims across the incorrectly oriented planes of water, entering the main chamber. Approaching the Krabbys, Corphishs, and Claunchers causes them to skitter away in fright. Either they're not up for diplomacy or they might be shy: the way a feral fears the unknown.

>>5663485
The other two have already crossed over. From Poli's perspective, it looks like as if they're about to slip from the suspended water... but they swim across without too much struggle. Strange, erroneous water...

In the main chamber, you can see:
>Further forward is the abyssal stretch of water. At the very end seems to be some sort of faint purple light, flickering past all the darkness. Continuing to stare at the water makes you feel like something huge is lurking in the darkness, waiting.
>On the right is a diagonal plane of water, curving like a crescent toward the other end. It doesn't reach far enough to be a seamless swim, revealing that you need to jump out to land safely. There seem to be Gastrodons slinking around on that side. You can see two tube-like rocks that might fit perfectly into the vents.

>>5663494
You can see that there's a faint swirling current. It's definitely strong enough to move you, but definitely not anywhere fast. The distance to swim across is too much to cross on your own. Especially with something in the dark.

>>5663497
Poli enters the spiral water column, making his way to the tube rocks. The spiral water column might be a bit challenging to traverse, even for a Water-type such as himself.

>>5663499
Theodore pushes the obstruction further into place, blocking off the plume of deep sea debris from escaping the vent. Suddenly, you can see the current in the abyssal stretch has strengthened, moving even faster. Maybe if you could block off the three other vents... you could make it across safely?

Theodore skips over to another vent to fix them.

Tintoretto is talking to no one. Lapras is on the surface and the party is currently at the bottom of the ocean.

It seems that the way to get across will have to be blocking off the vents. Taking another look at them reveals that they would need three more uniquely shaped rocks, similar to the first that Theo had pushed into place. Thinking back...
>On the left is a twisting column of water, leading into a huge bubble. Inside is another tube-like rock. However, the sphere is infested with Huntails and Gorebyss. You can see Poli jumping in and out of the water spiral.

Astor has rejoined Theodore and Kaku.

>>5663511
Poli allows himself to be taken with the weaker current of the water spiral, flowing well enough with the strange water column. Occasionally, he leaps out carelessly and recklessly. It's not sure whether it's a conscious choice or accident, but he doesn't manage to slip into the watery void surrounding him. Eventually, he makes it to the larger water sphere, patrolled by Huntails and Gorebyss. The tube-like rock is in the center... just how do you get past?

"Yep, we follow Poli and we get the tubes!" Kaku swims his way across the abyss! Rolling for good form.

"Uh. . . Maybe the rocks around here somewhere." He murmurs, turning to the spiraling colum of water. "There!"

Theodore waddles towarss rhe spiraling water.
>>
>>5663523
Tintoretto has finally realized he has taken 99% damage from the mysterious creature.

>>5663527
Poli has entered the sphere, choosing diplomacy. While this might work in a civilized society, these are ferals. Almost immediately, the Gorebyss and Huntail break off their circular pattern and begin menacingly swimming toward Poli. It seems they might not want to talk...!

Kaku jumps into the spiraling water. Almost immediately, he loses control, as his legs dangle in the air while his body is held up by the water. It feels like he's completely disoriented in the water and slips out, tumbling into the darkness. The chillingly cold abyssal water greets him with an unceremonious splash.

Theo and Astor watch their friend fall into the dark waters!

Poli's nefarious plan has come to fruition! All he has to do is enact it, and even with his Choice Specs, he feels he could do a good job about it. Knowing they're Water-types, he elects to try and duck behind Gorebyss to use Scald on Huntail, then points to the Gorebyss to try and trick them into fighting eachother.
...how effective this is depends greatly on Poli's speed and sleight of hand, but it'd be pretty funny if they didn't buy it. That's a win for him too, probably!

Astor follows Kaku and Theodore down the spiral, will his burg birb mode work underwater?
>>
>>5663535
Poli manages to skirt through the water just enough to obscure his body with the now-confused Gorebyss. A blast of scalding water through... the water... manages to strike the Huntail was concentrated accuracy, enough to flash-boil and burn the Huntail! Without a second thought, the Huntail immediately turns on its fellow feral. Soon enough, the two are too busy trying to finish each other off than to deal with Poli.

He can grab the tube-like rock without any trouble.

>>5663536
Despite being weighed down by his sopping wet hair, he manages to throw his it out far enough to latch back onto the main platform. Pulling himself out of danger, he flops back onto the chamber the same way a mop would make a "plopping" noise. He feels a shiver run down his spine from the cold creeping on his extremities and the feeling of nearly being grabbed by something monstrous.

>>5663546
>>5663551
Theodore and Astor leap into the spiral column. Theodore' general shape isn't the most agile or flexible, and he initially struggles in the twirling waters. Astor, on the other wing, has much less trouble and finds that it's almost like flying. Except if that was the same feeling as flying in a syrup-filled wind tunnel. Everything feels heavy and sluggish.

>>5663538
While the darkness obscures the creature, it resembles a behemoth-sized Tentacruel... Whatever it is, it's clearly fed up with the presence of intruders in the dark space. You can see dark gray tentacles latching around the sparse stretches of underwater land, slowly crushing them. Your time here is growing shorter!
>>
>>5663560
"Thank you!" Poli says, grabbing the funny tube-shaped rock. He does a little aquatic dance, juggling it around a bit, before deciding to return to the center. Hopefully, the others are holding up well!

With the approaching creature threatening the only relative safety you have down here, it's probably time to high-tail it out of here!

>>5663565
Poli is in possession of a tube-like rock.

Currently, only one of the vents is obstructed, leaving you with a relatively weak supporting current. While you can risk attempting to go for the other two tube-like rocks guarded by the Gastrodons to completely block off all the vents, do you believe there is enough time to do so?

But if you don't... you might not be fast enough to escape the deep sea monster... choices...

Your choices:
>Obstruct one more vent and take that chance in your escape.
>Go for the last two rocks to block the other two vents!
>>
>>5663567
"Alright, pro-swimming race lets gooo!"
>Go for the last two rocks to block the other two vents!
>>

"I wish we had a sub!" Theodore cries, frightened by the feeling that there's something in the darkness.

>Obstruct one more vent and take that chance in your escape.
"We should leave one vent open"
>>
>>5663565
>>5663571
>>5663579
Theodore takes Poli's tube-shaped rock and plants it directly into the vent, blocking off another vent. The current moving across the abyssal depth grows stronger, revealing a visible rippling tide pushing across the empty space.

The three of them are on the main platform, which shudders ominously with the weight of the giant Tentacruel's grasp. Poli, Astor, and Theo can choose to swim across the divide now, or assist Kaku in gathering the last rocks.
>Abyssal monster? No thanks! I'll be going now.
>No 'mons left behind!

>>5663569
Kaku decides he's not about to leave things to chance by taking another chance, and leaps into the diagonal plane of water on the right. This is one is much less confusing for him to swim across, however, he eventually reaches the section that requires him to leap out of the water and latch onto the slightly elevated platform with the Gastrodons. It does not help that the tentacles are slowly encroaching all around the abyss.

Theodore rushes over to the other side, providing Kaku with a burst of strength and a boost of morale! Astor walks over, also providing his boost of morale. The noise distracts the Gastrodons long enough for Kaku to heroically swoop in. He does nearly overshoot the jump, scrambling against the damp sand to stop his momentum. Looking back to the tentacles closing in, there's not much room to mess up.

>>5663586
Poli's little jig is enough to cause the behemoth Tentacruel to stop advancing and to gawk at his strange display.

Poli, Theo, and Astor's choices:
>Symbolically wait for Kaku.
>Time to make our getaway!

Poli doesn't feel his distraction working much longer, and he's wise enough to dip before Tentacruel decides to put an end to some silly little shenanigans prematurely.
>>
>>5663603
Kaku decides that there's not enough time to swim back across and elects to send them the express route instead, chucking them over the watery gap! However, his drenched hair causes his throwing arm to be just slightly off. The tube-shaped rocks bounce against the ground, teetering perilously on the edge. They might just fall if whoever tries to grab them isn't careful!

He dives headfirst into the abyss, knowing that the monster is, at the very least, behind him.

>>5663621
"Cold, cold, COLD-" Kaku swims with all his might, making a beeline to the current!
>>
>>5663622
Poli manages to grab the tube-shaped rock and slot it in with some decent force. The current becomes much stronger, enough for them to gain a serious edge in fleeing.

>>5663624
Kaku's swimming is fairly decent, but the abyss' unnatural temperature and his own water-logged hair is definitely not helping him in the slightest. He can hear the echoing crush of the land vanishing and the rippling water of the approaching beast. His heart beats in his chest as he watches his friends zip away on the current, also narrowly avoiding being nabbed by the massive tentacles.

He's pushing his freezing cold muscles to the limit with his fae senses telling him just how close the danger is!

With one final push, he enters the stream of water and is dragged to safety.
>>
>>5663632
"Ugh... Should have been born a water type." Kaku once again relaxes and leaves his fate up to the water, shrimple as.

You watch as the colossal Tentacruel somehow manages to keep pace with the flow of water, just trailing ever so slightly behind the party. Only towards the end, embraced by the light purple glow, does it decide to abruptly end its dogged chase after your group. Taking a moment to let some warmth return to your limbs and to catch your breath (ha), you look up to see the surroundings. Off to your right is a diamond-shaped stone resting on a pedestal. It glows faintly, almost calling out to you for it to touch it. There's nothing necessarily menacing about the artifact, but it's still strange.

Activate the artifact?
>Yes, let's mess with weird things.
>Uh, no.
>Maybe try to learn more about it.

Looking around, you can see the abyss seems to flatten out into a hued pink, sprinkled with stars. Moving your eyes around, it almost looks like it's some sort of liquified galaxy. Carefully placed rocks encircle the galactic pool. You don't need an expert in rocks to feel how old these stones are. They seem to carry their own ancient gravitas that the previous ruins didn't seem to hold before. This is definitely the place that the map was leading you towards.

As you move around the galactic gate, you find an old satchel, partially dipped into the starry water. Removing it reveals...
>2 Joy Seeds
>2 Reviver Seeds

These can be split between your group. Now... how to contact the others?

Pressing his finger against the artifact, Kaku feels only the cool touch of stone. For a handful of seconds, nothing happens. However, you see a gradual growing intensity of light surrounding the diamond-shaped stone as it lifts from its pedestal. The light soon becomes overwhelming to your dark-adjusted eyes, forcing you to cover them as a thin beam of light blasts skyward, piercing the abyss and the ceiling of water.

Well... that's one way to remember how to get back here.
