You are Hector, son of Richtor, Grandson of Gabriel. You have numerous titles :
The well endowed, Blessed Champion of the crystal dragon Sidridijika, Errant Banneret of Equitaine's Kingdom, the Mother's chosen, Soup pocketer
Heir of the Tumulus' sleeper, Griffin-tamer winner of the two battles of Griffinmount, survivor of the Tragedy of Brno, Avenger of the Hunt.

You volunteered for one more year of Errance - sheer dedication for the kingdom, roaming roads to clear presence of bandits and greenskins;
help a village assaulted by the local menace, answer the call to arm and take place in the front line of the battles of the King.

Your current group is made of :
>Guillot
Minstrel, learned bardic magic, fight with a sword or a sling. Met Hector at the beginning of his Errance.
The king knows him on a first-name basis, though his exact birth rank is irrelevant as an Errant.
>Renée
Young girl native from the Empire. Suffered atrocities under a band of outlaw acting under the banner of a white dragon.
Joined an Errant knight pack disguised as a boy, that eventually lost its leader (and got saved by Hector) in an assault from greenskins.
Hector think there's a possibility she might like him, maybe. He's not sure. Well, she never told him, so there's no way to know.
She reacted less bad than expected at the discovery of Hector's link with a dragon though.
>Claire
Got knightlyhood beat into her by her Father. Loves to cook, especially with various bits coming from monsters.
Hector think there's a possibility she might like him, maybe. He's not sure. Well, she told him several time, but she's just teasing him, right?
>Tyler
KNIGHT FIGHTING WITH A DOUBLE-BARELLED RIFLE WHICH IS USED TO PROPEL LEAD BALLS USING BLACK POWDER.
NEVER TAKES AWAY HIS HELMET, AND IS KEEPING MOSTLY TO HIMSELF - DESPITE USUALLY BEING LOUD
>Raymond
Pickaxe knight. Knows how to read, really interrested in siege warfare - can't get him to stop rambling about dwarven fortifications.
His strange mannerism seems to point at him coming from the Empire - although he denies it heavily.
>Ryner
Light-armored, fight with a shortaxe and a sword. Hector does not know him well yet.
>Julius
Heir of the Carnerion family, exhibes his family's crest on his shield and donned the skull helmet, not giving a damn about Errance etiquette.
A skilled fighter, with a psychopatic side, Hector does not know yet if he's prone to backstab, a battlefield fanatic threatening everyone close or a reliable ally.
>Crane
The new beastmaster of the pack. Where Allen mastered hounds, Crane is a bowman using pigeons for communication.
This is also a new addition to the pack that Hector does not know well.
>Vaillant
Last, but not least, is Vaillant. Griffin youngling, he and Hector share a bond. He's grown quite a lot, almost reaching the size of Sidridijika. Still too small to be mounted.

After an uneventful travel north, temperature have gradually felled, until you reach the heart of the cold zone : Istornsfjord

The inhospitalier, natural border between the empire and the kingdom is lowly populated, hence your easy way toward the place you dreamt of - After all, Kingdom of Equitaine and Empire of Sonnstahl are officially in a war since as long as mankind remember. Peasants say the cold is expected so far North - you know geography is not the only answer.

In this place, delve one of the most dangerous being roaming the earth : a dragon. A white one, a little bit like the one you bonded with.

Fireplaces, tents and wooden shed clings on the side of the cliff, covered in snow despite the rising summer sun.

Aaayyyeee. Remind me again why we're not grabbing the other dragon for this? Pretty sure we could call up our boss with his magic necklace to haul the corpse back to Griffinmount. Undoubtedly he would want it in some capacity for his magic nonsense. Also extra healing would had been nice.

Hector is obviously gonna go out to scout, along with Reneé with her jedi magic to help her if things go south, and Ryner.

Guillot will take Vaillant and Crane to scour around for potential amish sports we can lay down, places of interest, places with cover should the dragon use its ice breath to attack.

Tyler and Raymond will find and/or make defenses to fire ranged attacks from, in addition to generally making cover to protect us should the dragon take to the air and attempt a party wipe.

Claire will use her mad cooking skills to make sure us idiots dont starve (The Mother bless her heart and Julius will go murder up things for us to eat, or better yet maybe catch a medium sized animal we can use as live bait against the dragon, depending on how retarded it is.

If Sidridijika isnt too busy and wont make mental punch you again for disturbing him, ask him for some strategic help with his BIG BRAIN. (Let's face it he's gonna want a crack at the white dragon's horde too. It's to be expected.)

Hector, Renée and Ryner attempt a crawl by the side of the cliff to get a look at the camp.
An arrow hiss, followed by another.
"Intruders! South East cliff!"
Soon, the camp is growling with activity : numerous men - hard to count when trying to cover from arrow, more than twenty, less than fifty.
"How much?

Rolled 13, 16, 17, 20, 3, 20 = 89 (6d20)

Hector, Renée and Ryner quickly rushes on the other side of the snow-covered rocky ledge they came from, shield raised to protect from the rain of arrows coming from the bandit camp.
Hector focus really hard. Trying to send wordless instruction to the other team scouting around.
Until a leather and mail clad empirean jumps on him, breaking his focus.
>Hector Arcana : 14 (Failure)
Struggling to retain the mental energy, Hector draw his sword
>15 (undisclosed malus) against 17 : Failure
Looks like the bandit knows his swordcraft very well. Why Hector is struggling to grasp the diluting straws of his fading power, his guard get pierced, mail torn open, blood dripping from a gash on his sword arm.
>Hector suffered one wound
On his right, Renée is shuddering, facing her worst fears. What could have been unmatched resolve and steel hard determination is frail anguish, cutting the usual speed and precision of the iron maiden
>Renée suffered one wound
But the real problem is Ryner...

Not today. Projecting her force field, the knight dragged the unlucky mercenary behind Hector, before getting back to the fight.

>Bandit facing Hector : 20
The man is clearly pushing his advantage. Hector recognize him from the vision, a lieutenant of the bandit force. The man goes for a strike on a disarmed Hector who dropped his sword...

>Bandit : 20
The man leading the handful of bandits is a formidable opponent. Saber in hand, he pressures Hector and use his underlings the best to create an opening.
>Neutralized by Vaillant's 20
But Vaillant is not a pup anymore.
Still too light to be ride into battle, the griffin's size and weight is surpassing your average trained soldier.
>Hector : 20, 10 vs 16, 2
That leave the knight enough room to wield his halberd. Using horizontal moulinets, Hector slashes and slashes, the bandits falling all around. Until only the leader remains

>Vaillant : 15 vs 10
Leader which is sending a glance to assert the situation. Dire mistake. The clawed beast grasp his torso, and headbutt him over the rocky ledge; mail, cloth and flesh torn away from the empirean sent tumbling down.

Rayner over his shoulder, Renee held by Vaillant, a victorious, although on the brink of passing out, Hector comes back to the camp

>Thanks to Renee's success, and Hector's victory, nobody's vital pronostic is endangered

Guillot and Crane haven't grasped anything more than what Hector saw over the ridge.

Julius, however, came back to camp with a fish bigger than Vaillant.
"Trout. Let it out to freeze. White dragons love frozen fishes. We have our bait."

You have no idea on how the bandits will react to the attack.

relocate our camp. Barbarians know we are here and two of us are gonna be out of the fight for a while. Hectors healing is not that good.

or go in for a fight now to make sure we capture them off guard. they likely wont be expecting a full attack. and three of us took out about ten of them when they had us on the ropes.

i am undecided.
>>
>>5695621
Relocate, but make sure to create a fake camp first to buy us time.

A web of fire spins across the two flying arrows, giving Hector sight of the assaillants.
16 of them. 7 archers. 6 after Guillot's well-aimed stone. 4 after the arrows shot by Crane bite flesh. Night fell on the frozen lands again.

"What... was that?"
The most surprised of what happened is Shade "Blackarrow" of House Crane - he slept up with his identity while drunk, and alias and true names have since been confusing.

Hector pulls Renée closer, which in turn grasp the gorget of the knight, pulling him closer. They're one inch form each other, world slowing down.

Yeah, no way I'm letting the waifu war end because of non-commital rnJesus dice throw.

A loose arrow fly right in between their lips, leaving both of them with a hair-thin cut. Immediately wary and back into action, Hector sees Julius finishing off the charismatic leader, while Shade nails another arrow in the last archer.

Situation is under control. Ryner and Julius go for a methodic execution of agonising foes to shorten the suffering. Raymond and Tyler drags them out. The cleaned camp goes back to sleep, to finish the short night.

Renée feels the leaded cloak of responsibilities weighting on the shoulders of Hector once again. So close, but the moment have been spoiled.
Bitter tear running down her face, she mutters to herself. "I'll build the courage again. I'll muster all my will. I will make him mine."

Hector is unaware. More exactly, he's thinking on other things to purposefully avoid asking himself "what if?". That's far from the first time - what if he kissed her in the woods, when he discover Renée was a charming she, instead of insisting on the non-pocketability of soup? What if he kissed her at the end of the turnament, or after rescuing her from the ogres, when she was oiled and naked in company of the other knightess? What if he kissed her at Guênac, stopping Errance, and getting married at Griffinmount?
Stop, Hector. Back on focus. Out of focus.
Hey, that's strange - he never delve on that subject that much usually - Agathe nags him with something inconsequential, anything from deep philosophical question, guardian responsibility question, or even seductively suggesting things broadcast "by mistake" on the shared mental link.

One particular pack member did exceedingly well today. Shade "Blackarrow" Crane. Yesterday, you would had said without a doubt Tyler and his double-barrel shotgun was the best marksman of the group. Today taught you Shade was better. More accurate, faster to draw. The stunt of killing one of the ennemies with his own arrow is songworthy. And he awoke fire magic - priceless against a White dragon.

>Shade rank up : 3 dice Archery instead of 2

The next day is quite, idle. You spend it mending your wound. Still no sight of the White dragon.
Your knowledge as a guardian indicates he should know you're out there, in his territory. The ice-made limbs of the bandits you wounded in the first scuffles prove the bandit leader have some guardian power - but as far as you can tell, they seem way more limited than your own.
If it was you and your men fighting for your life against a small contingent of mens at arms, Sidridijika would have joined the fight. Maybe in ambush, but he would have done his best to save as much life as draconly possible. Your prey haven't. Why is that?

>Write-in supposed explanation of the absence of implication of the white dragon
This will impact the strategy chosen by Hector's pack in the following days.
>>
>>5703261
The dragon is evil, perhaps he is simply an asshole that doesn't care for his men? But chances are he would atill be fiercely protective of what he considers to be his territory and possessions due to being a dragon.
He could be trying to bait us into his lair to trigger traps like purple would, or some horrible maze like green. But then wouldn't he order the bandits, or atleast his guardian, to retreat?
I think be might have went out to do something else, like a raid or something, and left the guardian and these bandits to guard the land around his lair. Not the horde directly, since it's possible a bandit could try to steal from it and escape.
In which case, the dragon is probably coming back as fast as he can with whatever forces he left with. I would bet atleast another guardian and an equivalent number of troops.
>>
>>5703276
This seems like the most likely possibility after what we know feom Sid and his siblings.

It likely leads to them being hot on our ass when they come back. Some Camouflage probably wint safe zs from the dragon. But defenses cound help against its likely breath together with Renees Magic to survive until we can bring it down to earth.

The biggest problem i see is that it can fly. So we will have to cripple its wings or lure it into a trap

Or if we go with another dragon trope. The Dragon is asleep but will probably wake up soon and then reign with terror over local populations
>>
>>5703276
>>5703745

Hector's divine sense is tingling. Something's wrong. He feels it. And a drop of recovered magic is pulling his brain toward the solution.

>Dragon is asleep
>Dragon is an uncaring asshole

>Dragon is away

The flickering sensation leaves as fast as it came, like that dream where Hector tried to catch a cloud and it dissolved in the air. You'll have to take a decision. Of course, if you choose, say, speed over the rest that doesn't mean you will barge in the lair yelling and stomping and risking awakening the dragon if it turns out he was asleep.

>Make your mind about the following options. Choosing the good one will grant you 3d100 for the incoming test. Else, you'll only get one.

>Dragon is certainly asleep - prioritize sneak
>Dragon is baiting you into a trap hell - prioritize observation to avoid traps once inside
>Dragon is an uncaring asshole using men as disposable pawns - prioritize fight formation and get ready to take him down as soon as you enter the lair
>Dragon is away - speed is the most important factor, get in and ruin his lair before he cames back to decrease his home field advantage

This I suppose, but let's not just ignore the possibility of traps, ok?
>>
>>5703829
Haha, I never actually played it (yet), but I heard it's a game where (depending on your decisions) you reach the ending pretty much completely destroyed (physically, and probably mentally and emotionally as well), and since we almost always start conflicts with disadvantage, or barely get time to recuperate after just scrapping by, etc, etc, it seemed fitting to me.
>>
Rolled 1 (1d4)

>>5703826
Ok, so I'll try to think about this
My trap theory depended on him also being an asshole, so if they are exclusive, it's right out.
That leaves us with the other 3.
If the dragon is using his forces as disposable pawns, then it's likely they would eventually break during the fight after we start hurting it, since it would be either fear (which would be dispelled by the dragon getting hurt) or greed ( the could loot the horde if the dragon dies).
If the dragon is away, rushing in to break the lair is all well and good, but there would probably still be traps, and he would still know the terrain better then us.
But if he is asleep, wouldn't the guardian have tried to awaken him?

Fuck it, I'll let the dice gods decide
1 - Sneak
2 - Observation
3 - Organization
4 - Speed

Dragon far away? Does not make sens with the ambush and attacks - if that was the case, they would have turtled up and wait for reinforcement.
Dragon waiting in a lair full of trap and baiting you in? Possible. Dragon asleep? Improbable.
In doubt, remind the Nursery Rhyme :
Scales of metal, you can trust as a pal
Scales of gem, it really depends of them
Scales of leather, pray to your maker

This have some nice implications : First, you're not time-constrained. You all take the day to rest, feed well, tend to your gear.
As the Knucklehead trout will not be useful as a fish-flavored Popsicle, Claire turns that into delicious roasted fillets, drastically improving everyone's mood.
Hector takes even more pleasure knowing he is actively pissing of the dragon - a greedy tyrannical being is never an embodiment of patience.
Hector ponders. Comes up with a plan. Gather everyone in a tent isolated from the snow, and show them doodles - avoiding any spycraft based on sound or snowvision from the prey.

>94 vs 53

The next day, all of the Knight enter the dragon's lair. Pretending to advance cautiously and sneakily, Hector is focused on listening his guts.
"Now!"

A fraction of second before the cold cave turns into the frozen hell. All knight scatter, letting the oversized lizard sealing the cave entry with its breath.
>Boss status : Breathless

"Dire mistake. We're not trapped with you. You're trapped with us"

Shade focus wane. He's not used to his new powers enough. Still, a figment of power remains, setting his arrows ablaze. With the golem handled, he aims at the dragon.

While the knights continue picking off the endless tide of Golems, Hector is still at it. Spinning his blade, raising his shield, he's definitely got this. Ok guys, this is a good time for me to take a couple days break for this quest - I found out this is the way to keep motivated and produce higher-quality content, taking time to come with plotline instead of just pushing things and see how it goes.
Feel free to discuss the quest, the what next, the objectives and all that.

Also, I'll be around in the thread before coming up with the next plotline so feel free to ask stuff.

For this plotline, I did quite a bit of diggin in my old threads. Looking with a fresh eye, my writing is way better than I thought it would be and some of the joke I wrote made me laugh. So question time.

>Do you feel the writing quality improved, decreased, remains at the same level?

>Who's your favorite character so far?

>What's your favorite moment of the quest so far?

>What's the funnier moment so far?

>What's the sadder moment so far?

>What do you want to see more of?

>What do you want to see less of?
>>
>>5708500

I'll also answer some of that :

>Favorite character :
I love my cast. Switching betweend Sidridijika and Hector is really good for maintaining will to write this.

>What's your favorite moment of the quest so far?
Hector's reunion with his father in the capitole

>What's the funnier moment so far?
That joke :
- You'rrre happy with yourrrself, ladyboy? Ssstop messssing arround withhh all the females of the forrrt - Agathe is offff-limit for you and everyone so especially warrrrn Guillot, I'll hate having to kill him - so go and pamperrr the lady
- What's with you? usually you distract me and make me lose words when I'm too close to her. That one time you even made me elbow her in the face when I was asleep by yelling that a goblin was behind!
- Yeah, good times. But now it'ss differrrent. So go see herrr."
>>
>>5708500

>Do you feel the writing quality improved, decreased, remains at the same level?

It has improved. still some grammar and the occaisonal weird word being used. but all in all it has gotten better.

>Who's your favorite character so far?

Bias Answer: Dragon Dad
Real Answer: The Waifu War

>What's your favorite moment of the quest so far?

probably the Knight tournament. i love the Knightgang just bantering and having a fun time.

>What's the funnier moment so far?

Pocket Soup

>What's the sadder moment so far?

loosing our home.

>What do you want to see more of?

Some more neutral events to flesh out the sibling dragons morei know we can do nothing about the dice still, more Townbuilding once we get our keep back.

>What do you want to see less of?

less Critical Failures.its nothing against you. just less of the
>>
>>5708500
>Do you feel the writing quality improved, decreased, remains at the same level?
Either the same or improved, but I'm leaning on improved.

>Who's your favorite character so far?
That's very hard to judge. I guess Agathe just because she always come in clutch?

>What's your favorite moment of the quest so far?
The Bon Jovi Bandit Band was interesting and memorable just because of the memes amd interactivity.
I think that flashback to the dragon council and mother's post birth assholeness, because it explained a lot of the world.

>What's the funnier moment so far?
Too many to count.

>What's the sadder moment so far?
Boniface's death. It's was more impactful for me then dad's death because we had more time to interact with him and I wasn't a player in the first thread, so I didn't experience it live

>What do you want to see more of?
The characters we created for the stronghold doing their things. The invasion ended up happening before we had the chance to see much of them.

>What do you want to see less of?
Miracles being scams I don't know, the pacing and variaty of the quest seems good enough, nothing comes to mind as overstaying it's welcome.
>>
Also, I somehow need more creative outlet so I tried to relaunch the First quest I QMed here.
Including improved writing, better art, 95% less untranslated french that NPC asshole talk between them.
>>5702832
>>
>>5708500
>Do you feel the writing quality improved, decreased, remains at the same level?
I can't judge writing quality as I don't know what makes good writing, my only criteria of judgement is whether I like [thing] or not, and I like this [thing], so there you go.

>Who's your favorite character so far?
Biased answer: Ryner (despite the dice preventing him from living up to his backstory, and of course, to the art), although I fear the dice will kill him before I can add his rival (/possible love interest?) to the quest.
Unbiased answer: Our boy Sidri himself, it's rare for me to like protagonists, let alone have them as my favorite character, but I really like our little Scam user.

>What's your favorite moment of the quest so far?
Any fight we didn't almost die.

>What's the funnier moment so far?
While there's many funny moments, the funniest one, which is quite unexpected (irrational even), is a single word: "Slame". I probably mentioned it before, but even now, just remembering it makes me laugh.

>What's the sadder moment so far?
Losing our home. But the first one, having to abandon father, our home, and the lack of knowledge making us hate mother for a while, all pretty depressing in hindsight.
Losing our second home was more infuriating than sad for me.

>What do you want to see more of?
Like the others, see a little more of what everyone else is doing could be interesting. I particularly want to see what Wano has been up to as of late.

>What do you want to see less of?
We all want the dice to be less cursed, but nothing we can do about that.

It took me way too long to type this post.

>>
>>5715290
That's a hard question...
Since Renee didn't want to try to kill the dragon, maybe the magic item for her would be nice, but then again, would she want it, considering the possible association of the item with the dragon that caused her suffering?

Lair magic item is personally the most tempting, but we don't have a lair anymore, and who knows when we'll get it back?

Dragon egg is a easy no no for me, since we are already doing enough babysitting.

For now:

"The tyrant's larder. Moving on."
and the frozen waterfall where the ice was coming from. You climb until you reach a circular opening.

"Nothing?
- Look up."

Upon you, the starry sky. Wait a minute...
The black ceiling is speckled with a pleiad of white spots.
"Chiirp!"
There is an upper floor, unseeable from below. More climb later, you see an obsidian floor, a ice mirror ceiling, and a dragon hoard of white metal.
"Silver?
- And platinum. Let's gather it and share it.

This, is for the King (little half of the Hoard)
This, is our share

"Magic. Anyone feels the path associated?
- I might have felt it from my own bound... At least, a part of it...
- Not bardic.
- Feel like it's really not for me..."
There are two energies coming from the object. That will require further examination. Tacite understanding with the squad, Hector ties the stone to a small silver chain binding a handful of coins, don it to Renée who is glowing under the brush of the knight's gentle hands.

"Hey Hector, not fair! I want you to gift me jewels too!
- Sorry Claire, would this diadem makes for it?

>First reaction : surprise
What is happening? An attack? Claire is pulling me to avoid an arrow? Hector thought.
>Second reaction : Enjoy
Until the truth hit. Oh, she might still be interested in me. Why not? She's pretty, and nice, and...
>19 : BONK
The knights reel back in pain.
Congratulation! Renée lost her lead on Waifu War
"Aoutch. What was that?
- Looks like you bumped your head, Claire, be more careful where you put it in the future.
- It felt more like an invisible glass wall...
- I'd stay low for a while if I was you, leader...
- That's an unfair move you just pulled, Renée.
- How so? You getting further would have been unfair; this is as good as balance get - one close call each

- Heey, Hector had some nice action while the link was down
- Agathe? Sidridijika? You're back?
- You look surrrprrrisingly fine...
- The guardians were much more troubles than the dragon. Would never had done it without the runic halberd and your Miracle ability. Got a comfortable amount of coins.
- Niiiice... But how are you transporting the spoils back?
- Good question... Wait, something's coming!"

You hear in the distance steps. A not that small force. The knights regroup, and walk at the entrance of the cave.

"Hector?
- Gwen?"

>100 of blue and Gwen reconstruction of Gwen's home from a few threads ago :

Turns out half a year was enough to kick all cultist away from Gwen's land, get people back, rebuild. The treasury of the castle have not been found by the foes - but couldn't resist a dragon's smell. Peasants were overjoyed being ruled by a fair ruler and not psychopaths any more. The overwork imposed in the early season turned the late harvest in a lushness of goods, making Gwendoline affluent enough to start manning a competent patrol - she came here with 10 handgunners, 15 voulgiers, and 5 mounted soldiers, to relieve nearby villages from the looming bandit threat.

"And you even came with wagons. Say, can we store loot at your place for a while?"

You are back at being Sidridijika.
After resting near your lands, in woods populated with elves, you decide to...
>Fly aimlessly [mystery box!]
>Go back at a previous ally's place [Dwarves? Lizard?] to request help
>Go visit your favorite sister.

There's so many things we need right now that I already lost track... So as much as I would want to fly aimlessly and maybe stumble upon more things to help against undead, I'll go with
>Go visit your favorite sister
As well.

The trip is long - around two weeks. Uneventful, as you'll mainly fly above the elven mirror sea, close enough to the coast for your daily rest. Boring. Nothing happens. You see nobody. Long. Despite making good distance, your mind is foggy. Hector is also travelling with Gwen's force, and Agathe is trapped in your necklace. Nothing to distract you from the monotonous trip.

After one week, unable to refrain any longer, you attempt to windcraft at your sister...

You focus, and braid your magic.
A thread of wind carry your words. Woven in the magic, concern about her situation, reassurance everything is fine for you.
You feel perfectly attuned to the wind for a second. What the wind can push, another breath can pull back
"Glad to know you're fine, brother. I'm in the most peculiar place..."

You are now Throdenslemoni. And you are, indeed, in an unique location : an ever-shifting city, made of thousands of boats chained together. After the scuffle against the dwarves on the southern ocean, Captain Bloodsail lead the crew to more slaughter, inflating their already infamous aura.

"So, you think you will be ready to retake home soon?
- Yesss. Gather troups. As fast as you can."

The wind link among you unravels.

You...
>Will try to convince Captain Bloodsail to go fight the Necromancer
>Will con, kill, seduce, or whatever your way into Captainship. Gather your own troups. Head back as soon as possible

If I remember correctly, the captain, after being pleased by lemoni's performance, asked her how to deal with the dwarfs, only to do whatever she wanted anyways, so I can't trust her. Lemoni's time in the crew probably let her grasp the general behavior of these people, which should allow her to start influencing others without being "sus".

Alright. Taking all of those.

I will archive the thread, it's a good cutting point. Next one will start with the battle for retaking your hold. For now, you'll have Hector's pack, Gwendoline's imperial Patrol, and whatever your other sister will come with, in addition to the handful goblins of Verthicha.

Thread archived. I'm still thinking on how to make the battle interesting, and the dreaded Personal Life is taking its toll. Don't expect the next thread before the 16 of August
