You’ve successfully escaped The Golden Peak Academy with one of humanity’s greatest treasures: The Crown of the Almighty! Now, you’re riding an expensive long car (?) home with your hobos and their hobos. The new ones just apologized to your OG one for all the pain and suffering they caused. And from the goodness of her heart, Nariko accepted their apology...

“Heh, this means a lot, Edamura. I won’t take it for granted.” Eloise acts like Nariko wasn’t forced through bullying to accept her apology.

“I share the sentiment. Let’s wipe the slate clean with a gift, Edamura. Enjoy!” Phoebe hands a chocolate bar over to Nariko. Looks expensive. Eloise does the same with her own. “This is still part of my BF’s idea for the perfect apology.”

“…If you think you can bribe me with any candy after this, you’d be incorrect. You’ve been warned. That aside, thank you.” Nariko begrudgingly takes them as she glares at Yu Yan.

“Yeah, it’s either this guy’s food or popcorn.” Yu Yan lets her minions know. “But don’t bother, she’s clearly way too pudgy. In fact…” Yu Yan snatches the candy bars from Nariko! “I’ll responsibly ration these for you!”

“H-Hey! M-My property…!” Nariko gets a little pissed. “On second thought, keep them, it’s not like I’m willing to stain my keyboard after all the trouble we went through.”

This ended fairly amicably… And you’re glad for that!

The night begins falling, your return to your apartment is imminent…

What do you do?

>Regroup at Nariko’s apartment! There’s much to discuss!

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical! There are no Critical Failures anymore!

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

In seemingly no time, you’ve returned to your apartment block. Farewells were made, and number exchanges were had just as promised! With that little gesture, you could see the joy in the snobby girls’ faces. Eloise tried to hide by readjusting her bang, but Phoebe was too caught in her bliss and relief that she kept staring at her phone. Despite their sudden spark of interest in you, they are do-or-die for Yu Yan, and genuinely want to amend their relationship with Nariko. But it’s mostly all about their BF, who was forced to promise to meet them again in the future. With this reassurance, they left in the long car (?)…

Immediately after the snobby girls left, you three were bombarded by a barrage of Chat-Now! messages from them! While similar in volume, the contents differ greatly as made evident from Nariko’s displeasure for the fact that all of them are exercise routines and weight loss tips.

Regarding what you received, Eloise first message is and you quote ‘EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY’ then followed by a bunch of pictures of her cute black cat named Voidfried. She remarks that she immediately noticed you’re a cat person because of the strays of hair on your clothes, and that you have great taste. You promised to send her pictures of Bradford Jr.

On the other hand, Phoebe sees you as some sort of intellectually inclined person, which prompted her to start writing this candid and profound discussion of her feelings towards the nature of society and the difficulty of people to connect in meaningful ways, and the commodification of all aspects of our daily lives to sell them online instead of using this time and energy to form bonds with other individuals. Deep stuff. You promised to her send pictures of Bradford Jr. too.

Anyway, you saw the caravan of dummies arrive when you were walking up the stairs back into Nariko’s apartment. Amelia will be back soon, so you’ll wait before starting any meaningful conversation.

While waiting, Nariko decided to let you know how much it means to her to have her keyboard back! She hugged you both! Even if you remarked that she won it back herself…

The Queen of dummies is back and the important conversation can finally begin! But before that…

“Ame, where’s Rora?” You noticed there’s a flame user missing…

“Oh? She went home with everyone else! Why?” Amelia is confused by your question.

“Never mind…” You suppose you can tell Aurora about this later.

“What a day! Eh, guys?” Yu Yan uses her drums to musically accompany her words.

What do you do?

“What a day, indeed! Mainly because we got this!” You put the chest with the crown on display in the center table of the apartment, then open it for everyone to behold!

“Yeah, that! I’ve been meaning to ask… What the hell is that?” Yu Yan has no clue what actually happened in any of the steps that lead things to this point. She was too busy being two rich girls' therapist.

“It’s an old crown that a bunch of dummies fought over for decades that Johnny stole from that meanie principal because she was really unlikeable.” Amelia believes you went through all that because you’re petty. Which is a half-truth. “It’s very itchy.”

“Not exactly, Amelia. This crown holds an incredible power.” Nariko is really gentle talking to Amelia. “Wear it again, and you’ll see.”

“I don’t want to.” Amelia shakes her head. “Just tell us what it does!”

“We can see where the crystal pieces are.” You put it simply.

Ooooh!” Amelia looks at the thing she believed to be a rock once with admiration.

“Dummy.” You frown. If she didn’t take it off that quickly, she would’ve realized earlier!

Ooh…” Amelia laments being a big dummy.

“Does that mean that we won with this thing?” Yu Yan is already planning ahead.

“The buried crystals can’t be seen.” Nariko says. “But yes, at the very least, this will ensure our tickets to the next round if we move accordingly.”

“Eh, there’s probably a way to find the other crystals. We gotta find out how.” Yu Yan examines the interiors’ of the chest. “What are these papers?”

“I’m not entirely sure, we barely had any time to check.” You point out.

“Johnny, I’m going to call Nina to tell her about it. Is that O.K.?” Amelia asks very politely.

“Of course, why wouldn’t it be?” You don’t know why she’s asking you.

“It’ll be quick!” Amelia goes to another room to make the phone call.

“Be careful with everything in there, Yu Yan.” Nariko isn’t comfortable with your smug hobo’s speed of handling.

“I know, I know…” Yu Yan pulls everything inside the chest out onto the table.

The Crown, the list you saw first with the boring instructions, and another ancient piece of paper that is almost impossible to decipher are on the table.

“Everyone!” Amelia comes back fairly quickly. “Nina wants to send someone to check on this! She’s asking if any of us have a preference! It’s our apartment after all.”

Who do you want to come over here to help you decipher the full potential of the items on display?

>Dorothy. Super scientist. Knows about this stuff. You’ll get your answers. But she’s kinda mean tho…
>Oliver. Obviously he’s well equipped to handle this situation in the name of the Motley Crew.

“Bring Susie.” You pointblank suggest.

“Grrr… No! We’re not having her over!” Amelia immediately gets upset.

“I’m sure she can help.” You put it simply.

“Oh boy, you want to do this now, huh?” Yu Yan feels uncomfortable about you pushing this issue. “Did something happen in the bubble that you haven’t told us about? Like a clairvoyant episode?” She needs an explanation for this.

“Yes. Something massive. But it has nothing to do with this or my suggestion.” You point out to yourself that you haven’t said a word about Yu Yan being from Chi-Athua, but that isn’t important in this discussion.

“Johnny, your little sister will never forgive Neko for doing what she did to you. Why are you insisting?” Nariko wants to know the root cause of your whim.

“I saw remarkable growth from her today, and I think Amelia is mature enough to move past this.” You extrapolate a minor character moment to an extreme.

“I’m gonna rip her face off if I see it.” Amelia won’t budge.

“But what if she had the face of a cat?” Nariko suggests.

“W-What?” Amelia doesn’t understand the question. You don’t either.

“Susie can turn into a cat.” Yu Yan reveals.

“That’s awesome.” As a certified cat guy, you like this development. “We should totally invite her over now.”

“Yeah, to see her look like a raccoon.” Yu Yan smirks.

“Is it a cute raccoon?” You’ll negotiate mentally to still like this idea.

“Yes.” Nariko lets her feelings known. “Regardless, if Amelia isn’t comfortable with this, we shouldn’t push it. Yu Yan, you always accommodate to this ruling, help us convince Johnny.”

“Eh, I've always been iffy with that, not sure if it’s good for anyone involved, but it’s always been two to one and I like democracy. But now we have two equal sides, and under the rules of fairness we have no other option but to have a fruitful discussion and come to a satisfying agreement. So, shall we?” Yu Yan is on your side because she finds Amelia’s animosity unhealthy.

“You’ll have to find a way to convince Amelia. For everyone’s safety, I won’t change my mind unless she changes hers.” Nariko isn’t against the idea, but she doesn’t want to deal with the fallout. She’s basically negotiating with terrorists.

“I told Nina to give us 5 minutes.” Amelia puts her phone away. “Tell me why I shouldn’t hurt this dummy if I catch a glimpse of her!”

Is it okay to push Amelia’s boundaries? Is this a boundary worth keeping? How can you navigate the situation tactfully? You’ll have to be careful.

How do you respond?

>Convince Amelia that she doesn’t have to like T_T Neko, but she doesn’t need to be violent towards her. Use this opportunity to ease her presence on your sister. Little by little, step by step…
>Try to sell Amelia how much Neko has changed and what a nice person she has become. Not all justice has to be punitive! In fact, it’s better to think about It outside of those terms if you want a healthy life! She learned this lesson! Reform!
>Tell Amelia to lock herself in her room while T_T Neko is here. You need the Cat girl’s expertise for a moment. Nothing else.
>Ask Yu Yan to be the defendant in this case. The case of why Susie isn’t that bad!

“Amelia, you don’t have to forgive Neko, or like Neko, or respect Neko as a human being or in any shape or form, but you have to be civil around her.” You want to ease your little sister’s murder tendencies.

“You can’t control how you feel, but you can control how you react, Ame.” Yu Yan simplifies the complexity of the situation. “It’s a hard lesson, but you can’t be a cold calculating bitch without it.”

“With us around, it’ll be easier to help you keep your cool.” You add.

“Why tolerate meanies? You made fun of that baddie principal out of spite!” Amelia feels like you’re being hypocritical.

“It’s a mixture of that and self-defense, but I don’t claim to be perfect. But Neko is not actively trying to hurt you or take away your super cool treasure.” You think the crown is very neat.

“But she did… She almost took you away…” Amelia says some cute shit you weren’t prepared for.

“I guarantee you that she’s not going to pull any stunts like that ever again.” Yu Yan has a devilish smirk, not her usual smug one.

“This is to build your tolerance. You’re part of the same team, you’re bound to work together at some point.” You stress this point. “It’s better to shred that animosity now than in a stressful situation.”

Fine…” Amelia sighs. With doubts and all, she’s willing to try. “I will tell Nina…”

“Amelia, do not forget, you’re our priority. If anything happens, I won’t hesitate to stand by your side.” Nariko wants Amelia to rely on all of you to take her emotions into account.

“Yeah, that shit ain’t exclusive to Nariko. We’ll kick her out if you can’t take it.” Yu Yan agrees. You nod as well.

With this reassurance, Amelia makes the call. Several minutes after the call, the failure NEET is at the doorstep. She was driven here by Kata, but your cooking soulmate didn’t have the time to stay and left the stray cat by the building’s entrance. Nariko had to go down to pick her up. And here Susie is, complaining.

“Nggh… When is Nina going to get her own car? I hate waiting outside to be picked up. And the small-talk? Yuck.” T_T Neko laments as she’s carrying a heavy backpack. She’s in the middle of a conversation with your OG hobo.

“On the bright side, the ride must’ve been nice, Nurse Calamity’s car seems pretty.” Nariko is engaged in this talk.

“That mid-life crisis piece of junk’s seats don’t have the cushions of the modern age.” Neko rejects the notion that this car is in fact good (unlike your van).

“Hey, Soft Paws, ready to help?” Yu Yan is the first one inside the apartment to acknowledge the dirty NEET’s arrival.

“Nina briefed me.” Susie looks around. “Where’s this crown? Hehehe…”

“You better not do anything weird! Grrr!” Amelia is already wary of this kitty.

“NgGh… C-Calm down, it’s only my scientific curiosity speaking…” Susie hides behind Nariko. “I didn’t request a muzzle on you, so I’m putting effort to make this work as well! S-So stop showing me your teeth!”

Amelia looks away, her teeth not out in the open anymore.

“Hey Susie.” You’re the last one to say hi.

“T-This prick! For the last time, you can’t call me by my—” Neko freezes upon seeing you.

…She collapses. You and Nariko grabbed her before she hit the ground.

“Oh boy, you killed her.” Yu Yan pokes at Susie, she remains unconscious…

Oh no… is your horrendous face the culprit?! No, wait, your brain is telling you that isn’t it. The real reason makes you have mixed feelings…

“D-Did that meanie faint?” Amelia is trying to compute what just happened.

“Upon seeing Dear Johnny’s striking looks, yes.” Nariko acts like she’s at a crime scene.

“I don’t call him stud sarcastically.” Yu Yan reminds everyone. “But this is way overboard!”

“She’s in love… with Johnny…?” Amelia is utterly overwhelmed. “But she tried to kill him… I don’t get it…”

“There’s a fundamental difference between attraction and true love.” Nariko has seen enough romance series to know. “But it’s also worth acknowledging that the line between love and hate is thinner than you think, Amelia. This is why I have recommended you to binge watch my suggestions together! They’re insightful materials!”

“We will!” Amelia finds this love development fascinating! This has awoken something in your sister.

You sigh, you’ll have to bring your old pal back… You pull out a paper bag from your pocket.

“What is this?” Yu Yan is the first one to question your actions.

“A paper bag.” You open it... Yep, it still fits your head.

“I know what it is, I wanna know why you have it.” Yu Yan demands an explanation.

“For special emergencies, it’s one of the many harsh lessons I learned inside the bubble….” You’ll never forget how disgusted Esperanza was...

“No offense, stud. But I’m not sure I believe you wholeheartedly.” Yu Yan sees through your unnecessary over-dramaticness. “This is… too Edamura of you if you feel me.”

“I actually detest this idea, so I don’t understand what you’re implying.” Nariko doesn’t like your plan.

“It’s fine… I’m used to it.” You put the paper bag on. “I’m ready. Let’s wake her up.”

“Sure.” Yu Yan pulls out her spray bottle and uses it on Susie!

AAAAAAH!!!” Neko jumps up from the ground and almost reaches the ceiling! “What happened?! Where am I?! Why am I soaked?! NgGggggh…”

“Because you’re a big dummy.” Yu Yan enjoyed that. “Welcome back to reality, kitty paws.”

“What did you do to me?! Confess! Or I’m gonna tell Nina you did something evil and perverted, freaking prick!” Neko is acting childish.

“Susie, calm down.” You decide to be chill to move things forward.

“I NEVER gave you permission to call me by na— What are you wearing?” Susie is taken aback by your new headwear.

“A paper bag. Because of you.” You point out.

“Is this some creepy kink of yours?!” Neko doesn’t get it and doesn’t want to!

“No, silly! You fainted when you saw him because you’re in love with him!” Amelia’s weariness is all but gone because of romance.

“W-What?! What are you talking about?! There’s no way that’s true!” Neko feels really insulted. Ouch. “What’s up with everyone trying to pair me with a bunch of pricks I don’t like?! This prick, that Richard prick, that Henry prick! They’re all freaking pricks and I hate them!”

“I-I’m still here and I feel like our relationship wasn’t that bad the last time we spoke…” You point out.

“The last time we spoke you were begging for favor after favor! In fact, I got that info you wanted about that Larsen guy before you freak off to another dimension!” Neko reminds you there are still threads without acknowledgement. “If there’s anything you should remember it’s that you owe me big! Like Nariko big! No, Nina big!”

“W-What’s that supposed to mean?” Nariko feels offended.

“What the symbol on your shirt represents, Mooriko.” Yu Yan explains.

“What is this meanie talking about?” Amelia remembers that she dislikes Susie again.

“Everyone, the crown, we must check the crown.” You want everyone to focus on what’s important. “Well, and the other stuff inside the chest too.”

“Yes! Please! I’m so curious!” Nariko is getting really excited.

“T-Then stop changing the topics, pricks.” Neko is happy to move things along.

“You fainted.” Yu Yan acts cheeky.

“What did I just say?!” Neko is upset!

“Kitty paws, you’re so easy to provoke…” Yu Yan smugly walks up to the table where the many items are still residing.

T_T Neko pulls out her laptop to begin her analysis.

“We got the Crown that allows us to see other Crystal Pieces.” Nariko starts pointing out the objects one by one. “We have a list of names that found this treasure and the instructions of the challenge.” Nariko grabs the least old of the old papers. “And finally, an indecipherable ancient document in another language.”

“You have no idea how excited I am, hehehe…” There’s great joy in Neko’s words.

“Let’s start with the unknown paper!” Amelia wants to know about that one! “Let’s see if you have any good qualities to offer to be my sister-in-law.”

“I-I’m not interested in that post, you freak!” Neko doesn’t want any type of implied romantic ties with you. Now she checks on the item and searches online for clues. “Nggh, it’s ancient Prancijanian...”

“And there’s no one who can read it?” Yu Yan wonders.

“Yu Yan, modern Prancijanian is what we could save from the old dialect, and its only usage is for signage. We only know the meaning of a handful characters.” Nariko explains to the very ignorant Yu Yan.

“I-I know that, but there’s no archeologist who knows a lil’ more?” Yu Yan wonders. Nariko shakes her head.

“An entity could know, maybe.” Amelia suggests. Not a bad shout from your sister.

“Got something. This is a royal document judging by the stamps. It may be the order to bury the treasure.” Neko takes a good guess. “Nyeh, it’s not useful to us.”

“I’d say that makes it interesting.” You don’t think an archeological discovery of this magnitude isn’t a big deal.

“Now, I’ll check the list of names on the database.” Susie grabs the list with names of everyone who discovered the treasure through the gang fight shenanigans. “I was going to gloss over everyone who’s dead, but almost all of them are…”

“It’s an old list.” Nariko doesn’t see anything weird with it.

“But some of these people aren’t that old…” Neko feels like you stumbled into a conspiracy. “Hey, Prick bag, remember the guy you told me to look into? The Percy guy? He was framed for murder. And the guy he was framed for killing is on this list.”

What…?” You open your eyes wide. Is this all connected…? How…?

“Woah, I feel like this is some kind of big revelation!” Yu Yan pretends to be really excited. “We’ll leave that for later. Any other standouts?”

“Oh yeah, the cursed name is here too: Houda Lan.” Neko reveals! Yeah, you caught a glimpse of his name before!

“What makes it a cursed name, Susie?” Nariko wants to know!

“You’ll never find any records of him, but he was a renowned and dastardly figure of the Prancijan of old before Junior got into power. If you see his name it’s because you’re reading something you aren’t supposed to.” Neko acts like it’s all very spooky. “He’s an urban legend.”

“Oh, I see!” Nariko finds this very interesting.

“He’s like Amelia, the destroyer of gangs. Soon, we will never hear from her again.” Yu Yan chuckles.

“I’m not an urban legend… I exist!” Amelia looks at her hands like she’s about to turn invisible or something. Like reality is breaking for her.

“If you want to disappear, I can help you with that.” You tease your sister by turning one of your fingers invisible.

N-No!” Amelia gets all skittish.

“Now, the main dish, the crown of the Almighty.” Susie is savoring the idea of having this at her disposal. She puts it on… “Hehehe… It’s just like you guys said.” Neko points at you then at Amelia.

“Cool, isn’t it?” You smirk. She can’t see it because it’s under the paper bag.

“Indeed, pricks…” Susie takes it off. “With the cats’ help, I’ll determine where all the pieces are! Hehehe!”

And with that, all the possibilities are open…

“Looking at these things makes me think that Yu Yan should be able to read old Prancijanese.” You throw your baseless conjecture out there! She’s a pod baby from the past, maybe she absorbed the old language into her tiny neurons.

“Why?” Yu Yan is confused by your assertion.

“Because of a complex and deep web of events that have you as a central figure of sorts?” You retort.

“And those are?” Yu Yan stares at you with skepticism.

“I’ll explain later.” You adjust your glasses.

“Even if you did now, I can’t read it either way, dumbass. How does that even work?” Yu Yan frowns.

“Superpowers…?” You shyly suggest.

“Why does everyone waste their time listening to this prick?” Neko is tired of you wasting time.

“I believe his train of thought is feasible.” Nariko backs you up! “Superpowers exist. That’s our unquestionable reality.”

“That’s fine. He’s still a moron.” Neko doesn’t follow your brilliance.

“You’re not going to earn his love by being mean to him, dummy!” Amelia doesn’t like a certain archetype...

“I-I DON’T WANT ANY OF THAT!” Susie is going to lose her mind.

“You think Yu Yan has a Special ability like yours, Johnny?” Amelia is trying to get where you are coming from.

“Is being bilingual a superpower?” Yu Yan points out another flaw in your logic.

“It wouldn’t be preposterous if you have some kind of ability. As far as I understand, your former entity was pretty powerful. She wouldn’t have picked a random weakling.” Nariko points out.

“Counterpoint: that prick’s entity picked her.” Neko points at Amelia.

“Saraswati is supposed to be super powerful…?” Amelia looks utterly confused. No wonder Saraswati is going through depression.

“We’re getting sidetracked! Sorry, Stud! Can’t read it. My only superpower is my continuous support and great sense of humor.” Yu Yan smirks.

“Arguable for the latter.” Nariko doesn’t like the cow jokes. They moofend her. That’s terrible. You’re glad you didn’t say it out loud.

“C’mon, Nariko. Don’t be Moofended.” NOOO!! WHY DID YOU SAY IT?! “S-Sorry, I got some spit in my throat.” You try to salvage the salvage by clearing your throat.

“I blame that heinous paper bag.” Nariko doesn’t like it in the slightest.

“Speaking of something heinous, I remembered something about my fun adventures inside the bubble dimension! Wanna hear it?” You think this is the best opportunity to tell them about Houda Lan!

“Nah.” Susie cuts you off.

“I-It has to do with the list.” You point at it.

“Then why didn’t you say it in the first place? Stupid prick…” Susie grumbles.

“That’s the go ahead, stud.” Yu Yan leaves the floor to you.

You told them about your encounter with Houda Lan! The kind of guy he is, and what he’s doing. Oh, and the Crystal stuff too.

“Nooo! Johnny! You have to stop befriending criminals!” Amelia didn’t like this story!

“The criminal was trying to save the world, Ame. Give him a break.” Yu Yan can’t believe your sister’s denseness.

“And you led a delinquent gang too, Amelia! You tiny hypocrite!” You won’t be judged!

“I didn’t want to be part of it! Ursula tricked me into keeping the position. You all know I wanted to resign.” Amelia crossed her arms. “I should’ve posted my resignation letter on the school billboard…”

“Bullies, the lot of you, ngggh…” Neko acts like she’s in bad company.

“Isn’t the information Johnny has enlightened us to of huge importance?” Nariko notices that everyone here is taking it lightly.

“It’s Nina big. Yeah.” Neko grins. “You’re a resourceful guy, Johnny. Using this trip to the past to your advantage. You learned about the crown from Houda and immediately went for it, hehe…”

“D’aww, look! She’s flirting!” Amelia finds Neko adorable.

“I’M NOT FLIRTING!” Neko shrieks.

“Oh the crown stuff is actually a huge coincidence. I don’t think we ever talked about it.” You can’t take the credit. Susie is befuddled. “Great guy, though.”

“It was something Amelia was involved in. We were there for my keyboard!” Nariko takes out her favorite instrument.

“I’m sorry for involving you in it…” Amelia feels bad for being a real criminal.

…You are all stupid and I don’t like any of you.” Neko dislikes the reasoning immensely.

“Tell me about it, I spent my time babysitting a couple of spoiled brats for hours and hours because of it!” Yu Yan takes it in good stride despite her harsh words. “Wait, I do that every day anyway!” Yu Yan pokes Nariko and Amelia’s faces.

“Houda Lan… This is huge… Hohoho…” Neko starts typing on her laptop. “I forgive you all for being pricks today. We got some juicy details.”

“Can you figure out if the guy is alive?” Yu Yan wonders.

“Perhaps. Perhaps not. It’ll all be due time. I gotta fill all the gaps I can before making conclusions. This is sweet…” Neko is really excited. You can tell some of the paranoia that consumed her is part of the past.

“I hope he’s fine.” You doubt it though.

“How did it feel, Stud? You met someone else trying to save the world! I bet it felt good.” Yu Yan starts teasing you.

“I didn’t think about it…” You… really didn’t. Against all adversities, there was a guy doing his best doing the same thing you’re trying to do, but all by himself. You grab the list again and stare at the name of the funny Phantom Thief…

Hey, you forgot to thoroughly look at the list yourself! There must be some names that will stand out to you and not Susie, right? You’ll see what this has in store!

Yeah, you don’t know who these people are, none of the names are in any way familiar or you can’t make any connections with people of interest… But nicknames? That's a whole other story…

Clear as day, the last name on the list right below Houda Lan’s is your bestie’s… Crossbill! No doubts about it!

What do you do?

“Susie, I need you to do me a favor.” You say like it’s no laughing matter, despite looking goofy as hell.

“Another favor for the pile, eh? I’ll help if you stop calling me by my name! I’ve never given you permission! And I never will!” Neko gets pissy.

“We will see.” Even if this is a pressing matter, you’re not going to agree to anything until you see results. “I need you to find information on a person.”

“I-I know, that’s all you ask for every time. Who is it this time? Huh?” Neko is ready to write down the name of the person you’re looking for.

“Her name is Charlotte L. Summers.” You need to know about her…!

“Have you heard that name before?” Nariko asks the useless Yu Yan.

“Nah, probably someone he met in the Bubble.” Yu Yan guesses correctly.

Hmm…” Amelia strokes her chin. “Never heard of her either.”

“What does the L stand for?” Susie wants to know.

“I don’t know.” You shake your head. Maybe it’s for Loser, but you don’t want to joke around for some reason.

“Heh… you haven’t looked her up online, have you?” Neko smirks with glee as she turns the laptop’s screen towards you. “Known Human Rights Activist, Charlotte Summers. That’s your woman, right?”

“That is her…” You have a bad feeling about this.

“She was an independent senator until she was impeached for treason for collaborating with terrorist organizations. She’s in prison for life, Johnny.” Neko chuckles.

“Was she part of Yu Yan’s terrorist group?” Amelia wonders.

“Hey! That ain’t mine! Memory loss, everyone, memory loss!” Yu Yan points at her forehead. “Blame Watty instead!”

“That rotten Watty…” Nariko blames him on command! Poor Oliver…

“The authorities said so.” Neko shrugs. “Where did you meet this prick, eh?”

“She’s my friend.” You don’t think this changes anything.

Oh not again!” Amelia can’t believe that all you do is meet criminals!

“Amelia, I don’t believe it’s the time to be joking.” Nariko politely tells Amelia to stop overreacting.

“That’s all I can find, let me run her name in the database.” Neko gives you some hope. “Tsk, she’s locked in the highest security prison in the country.”

“The one that the Markgician broke out of?” Amelia is taking this seriously.

“Same one.” Neko is taking this seriously. “Johnny, I took some liberties with the intel you wanted me to dig. The Larsen rabbit hole. I went deeper. One starts to see some patterns, and this smells… iffy. Rotten!”

“What do you mean?” You want Neko to explain herself.

“False accusations, bud. What else?!” Susie smirks.

“Johnny… You’re not planning on breaking her out, right?” Amelia is very seriously concerned you’re going to do something really stupid. “From what I understand. She’s not the same one you met, right?”

Would you help *this* Crossbill?

“…I have to.” You give your sister a determined look. You made a promise to meet your bestie again.

“This dummy…! Someone tell him off!” Amelia absolutely hates this!

“C-Calm down, I’m not going to do it now. I know I need to prepare. I’m not stupid.” You feel stupid for saying that you’re not stupid, despite being clearly the opposite message. Why is that? You’ll explore this topic in the appropriate environment like during a shower.

“You want to break in and out of one of the highest security prisons in the entire world. What do you want us to call you, prick?” Neko puts it simple and clear.

“The fucking Markgician did it, why can’t I? Huh?” You cross your arms.

“Dear Johnny has a point.” Nariko didn’t see it that way.

“Thank you, Nariko.” You smile.

“No! Don’t thank Nariko! You're both being silly!” Amelia won’t take it.

“And we hate silly.” Neko agrees. She would’ve hated Mirjam… “All the way.” Yeah, no chance for Mirjam. Why are you remembering her all of the sudden?

“Listen to your wife prospect, Johnny!” Your silly sister points at Susie.

“NgGgh! S-Shut up! I don’t want to be anyone’s wife! I'd rather die alone in a ditch.” Susie gets flustered.

“Easy, you two. Did everyone forget all the stunts this guy pulled off?” Yu Yan doesn’t get why everyone is doubting.

“Aren’t you worried?” Amelia pouts.

“Like everyone else.” Yu Yan shrugs. “But if he doesn’t go through this, there’s gonna be something else, like the stuff that gloomy skyscraper lady you told us about wants you both to do. That’s how this stud works. I thought the idol shit would ground him for a bit, but damn, he always finds a way to get his neck under a new proverbial guillotine. If he minimizes the risks, it’ll be okay.”

“I need to assemble a new team for this operation…” You wonder if you can find people with jail breaking experience.

“We can’t ask Johnny not to help his friend, Amelia.” Nariko shakes her head.

“Oomph!” Amelia pouts harder than she ever has pouted. “I don’t like you being right!” She relents…

“Sorry, Ame.” You apologize to your sister for taking these risks. She takes this well.

“This is why I don’t have friends.” Susie smirks all confidently.

“We can tell.” Yu Yan couldn’t contain herself.

NGGgGGgGgggh…” That hurt Susie.

“Would you rather look for the crystal positions than flinch in pain?” You extend a helping hand towards Susie.

“Y-Yeah…” Susie grabs the crown from the table...

Outside, Queen Spinster uses the might of her powers and the geo map on her laptop to send cats to the different points where the light beams are falling. Several minutes later, the main cat under Susie’s control starts laying out the rough coordinates where the crystal pieces might be.

Excluding yours and Amelia’s, the other six locations are as follows:

-Ka-Shing’s New Headquarters. (The one you visited.)

-Ka-Shing’s Casino: The Ka-Shino.

-President Gordon Junior’s Manor House.

-Underground of the Homeless Shelter.

-Pokyo Lokyo University Dorm.

-A random apartment nearby Lokyo’s Monumental Stadium.

T_T Neko stresses that this is a quick survey. The positions might change during the day, or permanently due to some asshole moving homes or something. Either way, she believes this was the best time to do this research, as everyone should be at home by now. Amelia will keep the crown.

This is all you need from Susie, right? Shall you move on?

What do you do?

There’s no time better than now to move onto other things, but you can’t waste the opportunity to have these girls around, so you invite them over to be judges for the auditions! Neko was very confused, but after explaining, she was mildly confused but accepted anyway. Amelia agreed immediately because she didn’t want to be left alone like the cowardly tiny bear she really is.

With the Crown secured inside the girls’ apartment, the crew moves onto your own apartment where you find Debbie sitting on your couch with Bradford Jr. on top of her lap, she’s watching a strange self-help channel on mute; for unknown reasons your TV remote is on the ground with her phone next to it.

Instinctively, you wake Bradford Jr. up and ask him to come over. Your fluffy friend takes a moment to bestir himself before approaching! Free of his weight, Debbie tries to stand up but her legs are so cramped that she barely holds onto the couch’s arm to not trip. She struggles for a moment, then dives down to pick up her phone and the remote. It looked as clumsy as a raccoon holding onto the lid of a trash can. Or as Grace trying to eat pudding.

It dawns on you from these clues, that somehow Debbie has been stuck like that for a long while. She likely dropped the controller and her phone at some point, but she isn’t heartless enough to move your cat away – so she accepted her fate and has been like this for hours and hours. This is Debbie’s tragic story.

Well, this is the moment you wanted to use to introduce Debbie to everyone (sans Amelia), but you all silently watch her struggle to be a human instead. After a pause, you resume like this never happened, with Yu Yan remarking she knows for certain that she’ll be good friends with the clumsy blueberry.

After a brief introduction, you let the gang know that you’re holding the auditions in Ajna's apartment. You needed to bring Debbie along. They groaned, wondering why you didn’t tell everyone before. You’re the one carrying Yu Yan’s drum kit and Nariko’s keyboard, you don’t know why they are complaining.

At long last, you are all at Ajna’s apartment preparing for the proper auditions! Amelia, Debbie, and Susie will act as judges. You’re the host. Who knows why? You feel like you should vote. Aren’t you the manager? Whatever! You’re going to be the best host ever just out of spite.

Nariko with her keyboard, Yu Yan with her drums, Ajna with her trumpet, and Ruby with her rented violin are waiting in another room to be called upon. You read their names before getting the auditions on the way.

“I’m so excited, I’ve been waiting all day for this!” Debbie is ready to see what you have gathered here.

“Johnny…” Amelia raises her hand, waiting for you to give the word.

“Yeah?” You let your sister speak.

“Uhm, did you only invite people from this building because they live here?” Amelia feels like you’re lazy.

Lazy prick.” Neko coughs. This kitty is a big fat hypocrite.

“No. I invited them to audition because I know them.” You wouldn’t have given this to anyone else!

“Ladies, it’s time to begin this contest!” You hype this up.

“It’s an audition.” Neko corrects you.

“We all agreed that they can all pass if they’re good enough!” Amelia reveals. “All we want is for Debbie to make the best music she can!”

“Thank you! Your help is much needed!” Debbie acts humble.

“Then why am I doing this host thing?” You don’t think they planned this to make sense.

“Nobody asked you to do this, you filthy prick.” Neko reveals the truth behind your stupidity. Oh no, you’re acting as silly as Wilma!

“…Uhm… uuuh…” You are lost for words. Nobody questions your irrational actions this way.

“I enjoy what you’re doing, Johnny. Please, continue! Caring is never a problem!” Debbie smiles brightly.

“You’re going to lose Johnny if you keep behaving like this, dummy.” Amelia doesn’t want Susie to waste her chances this easily.

“I-I don’t want him!” Neko gets flustered.

“But I do! A-As my manager!” Debbie has all her trust in you! Despite realizing the implications of what she said mid-sentence.

“Thank you, Debbie. This is all for you, baby.” You act like a sleazy comedian for no reason. “Now—”

“I know!” Debbie interrupts you for no reason. She broke your concentration.

There’s an awkward silence.

“…Now, without further ado, Ruby.” You clumsily clap so badly with the mic in hand that you drop it. It wasn’t on. You kick it away and pretend you never wanted to be a host of anything.

“Hey there, everyone!” Ruby appears with her warm smile.

“Hello, uhm, Rubeeh.” Amelia reads a piece of paper. “Please, tell us about yourself.”

“A-Amelia, you know me.” Ruby doesn’t understand why Amelia is acting this way. “Do you want me to introduce myself to the others?”

“Nah, I know you’re the filthy witch that had Osgood under her spell.” Neko still has a thing for Osgood…?

“I’m sorry?” Ruby is mooffended.

“Please, refrain from ever talking about O-man here.” You talk like a PSA. “And more importantly, don’t talk to her like that!”

“Woah, you’re still unforgivable...” Amelia didn’t like that either. She likes Ruby! And now she remembers why she wanted to kill Neko.

“NgGGggH…! I’M SORRY! I went overboard… I’m stupid. Sorry.” Neko feels really guilty and afraid.

“I accept your apology.” Ruby didn’t mind all that much. Amelia’s murderous intent dies down. “Don’t worry about me. I received much verbal abuse from his exes while dating him, I’m used to it.”

“We should refrain from gossiping from this point onwards, is that good for everyone?” Debbie goes for a consensus. Everyone nods. “Great! Let’s continue!”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you all.” Ruby bows first. “I’ll play a piece of my own creation. Enjoy.”

Ruby plays the violin as well as you’ve seen through viral internet videos! You think she’s really good, and the jury seems to agree! The performance ends with claps from everyone in the room.

“It’s beautiful! Welcome aboard!” Debbie doesn’t even ask her fellow judges’ opinions! She was so enthusiastic she might have forgotten.

“T-Thank you!” Ruby didn’t expect to get in. How humble… “I’m lost for words! I don’t know what to do!”

“Leave.” Debbie smiles. That sucked out the good vibes from the room. “I-I meant to say, to bring someone else to the stage! N-Not actually leave the apartment, I need you… and uhm…”

“Hehehe, I understood.” Ruby likes the Blueberry’s personality. “Who should I bring now?”

“Bring Ajna.” If you’re not a real host or part of the jury, you should get to decide this as a consolation prize.

“Very well.” Ruby shows her pearly whites again and remains still. “Tell me, Johnny, did you enjoy it?” She’s the only one nice enough to care about your opinion.

Of course, you’re going to give her the deepest positive analysis you can think of! She did remarkably well, so it’s only fitting you show the biggest indicator of approval!

You shoot Ruby with a nice, well-formed, and immutable Thumbs up!

…Ruby cannot attain a higher level of happiness as her cheeks turn rosy, she walks away with a warm heart.

Moments later, the trembling trumpeter arrives on the floor. She is nervous as expected, but not to the worst levels one can imagine. The social anxiety demon is doing excellent all things considered.

“H-Hello…” Ajna is playing with her trumpet’s handle to relieve stress.

“Hi, Ajna…” Amelia feels a little guilty about seeing Ajna again after their only encounter ended in tragedy. With a slight nod, Ajna acknowledges your sister without an ounce of resentment, which eases your sister’s concerns. You would’ve loved to see this kind of regret when your sister did that thing that you told yourself that you won’t bring up ever again. In completely unrelated news (you swear), Ajna improving makes Cookie the biggest nervous mess you know, what a disaster for her!

“Hey there, Ajna! Nice to meet you!” Debbie smiles from ear to ear. She shines brighter than anyone else in the room! “I’m glad you’re here with us! I’m looking forward to seeing you perform.”

“Agh, her earnest optimism is too overbearing...” Susie doesn’t like being close to Debbie’s electricity.

“T-Thank y-you, Ms. A-Ambition-P.” Ajna finds the strength to face the challenge! “J-Johnny…” Ajna asks you to come closer.

“You need anything, Ajna? How can I help?” You wonder what’s wrong.

“W-W-W-W-Who i-is that…?” Ajna points at Susie. “I-I a-a-a-asked y-you t-to not bring a-any s-s-s-strangers…” Oh no, the fidgeting levels are exponentially increasing by the second!

“Sorry. She’s my friend Susie, I didn’t want to kick her out after she helped me with something, so I brought her here.” You explain and apologize for being callous. It helps that Neko is unbiased, a complete stranger with a fresh opinion, but at what cost? “I can stay by you while you perform if that makes you feel more secure.”

Ajna finds that one thing deep in her heart to forgive you. Her trembling slows down with your offer.

“I-I’d like y-you to s-s-s-stand in f-f-front of me.” Ajna takes control.

“All right.” You do as you’re told. Is this the highly anticipated return of backpack Ajna?

“E-Everyone, I-I don’t have a s-s-s-song o-o-of my own pr-pr-prepared. I-I’ll p-play to t-t-t-the b-b-best of my a-abilities…” Ajna announces to the jury.

“I can hardly wait!” Debbie’s optimism is overflowing.

In a decision that must take a lot of restraint, T_T Neko has decided not to say a word. To help ease Ajna’s nerves perhaps?

“Go ahead!” Amelia is the one to give the go for the audience.

“Hm…” Ajna turns around. You’re back to back now. You wanted to give her some words before starting, but you think you’d throw her off balance if you say anything at this point. All that’s left is for you to put your trust in Ajna.

Ajna starts playing a captivating melody from the soul. It might be in a different tempo and style, but you know this song. Her interpretation is breathtaking to your ignorant ass, you hope it’s good enough for the jury. Hard to believe that someone so frail looking has this much lung control!

The deafening silence after the performance, heightened by Ajna’s increasing trembling, is broken by Debbie’s clapping!

“Divine, Ajna!” Debbie enthusiastically congratulates the fidgeting menace who stands still. “I’ll make sure that we’ll find a way to make it comfortable for you to perform, so welcome aboard!”

Ajna appears from behind your back and… smiles! No words. Just that.

“Congrats.” Neko keeps it simple. She doesn’t want to disturb Ajna in the slightest. What a good kitty.

“Now, Ajna, please bring whoever is next!” Amelia takes the mantle of asking politely, since Debbie is too overzealous for that bit.

“W-Who should I bring…?” Ajna doesn’t know what to do.

“Bring Nariko. You know her well!” You don’t want to stress her out more than necessary. It was bad enough to bring Neko, even though the consequences are negligible.

“Right…” That answer puts Ajna’s heart at rest. She looks up to you, asking with her fleeting glance about your feelings on her performance.

Now, you must give Ajna the deepest positive analysis you can think of! She went through many hurdles, so it’s only fitting you show the biggest indicator of approval!

You shoot Ajna with a nice, well-formed, and immutable Thumbs up!

…Ajna nods and walks away with determination. She must’ve thought you were encouraging her to bring Nariko here to the best of her abilities. Nariko is a heavyweight (compared to Ajna), so she may think it won’t be easy but, like, Nariko wants to come over here! If she didn’t, even after all you went through to get her keyboard, you would’ve gone full Chio on her!

You take that back, that’s too nasty to think. You could never treat Nariko that poorly. You’re not a heartless monster like Chio Edamura! She might be cute, reliable, intelligent, and more, but she was too cruel sometimes! She can work that out though…

Anyway, your OG hobo is here with her Keyboard!

“Hello, let me see, Neh-ray-cow.” Amelia reads the same piece of paper from before. Why is she mispronouncing their names? “Please, tell us about yourself.”

“It’s Nariko, Ame. Don’t pretend you don’t know who I am.” Nariko takes offense. “Deborah, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

“Nice to meet you too, Nariko! What do you have in store for us today?” Debbie is really excited! The last two auditions have been great, so her expectations are through the roof.

“A song close to my heart. It’s the first song my mother made me learn after it became apparent I had no skills for the brush! It’s called the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2.” Nariko flexes her fingers before beginning.

“H-Hold on.” Neko knows there’s something off about this.

Nariko started playing one of those songs that everyone seems to know but can’t put their fingers on! She’s mind-blowingly good… But she never stopped, even when it became clear she was good enough to pass. The song lasted almost 10 minutes…

“Woah! Nariko! You’re incredible!” Debbie is the only one who enjoyed it the way you were supposed to. “You pass with flying colors! Welcome, welcome! We all agree, right?”

“Y-Yeah, yeah, yeah…” Neko agrees like she has been forced to do it.

“I’m scared.” Amelia doesn’t know how to feel. “J-Just bring Yu, please…”

“Excellent!” Nariko smiles from ear to ear. She’s proud of herself! Everyone should be proud of her!

She’s staring at you for some of the adulation she feels entitled to, but she’s happy either way because she can sense that you enjoyed it.

You can’t let Nariko go without showing your appreciation properly. And what better way to convey your enjoyment and approval than with a deep, meaningful gesture that is known around the world.

You shoot Nariko with a nice, well-formed, and immutable Thumbs up!

Nariko’s confident smile of satisfaction tells you how well received your powerful gesture is. With that out of the way, you ask the proficient hobo to bring the last participant! As gracefully as she played the keyboard, she leaves the room with glee.

You’re being called to the back and asked to help Yu Yan with the drum set. With the instrument ready on stage (there’s no stage), the last possible member of Debbie’s great return is prepared to show what she’s made of.

“Hello, uhum, let me see here… Yupie. Is it?” Once again, Amelia mispronounces another name.

“Yupie this. Hii-ya!” Yu Yan throws one of her drum sticks like a boomerang, hits your sister on the forehead, and returns to her hands.

OUCH!!!” Amelia collapses on the table. She has been defeated.

“Nobody calls me that and gets away with it.” Yu Yan blows the stick like a gun.

“Agh, crazy rascal.” Neko didn’t enjoy the brutality.

“You want some of this?” Yu Yan pretends to throw the drumstick again.

“Nggh!” Neko raises her defenses.

“Heh, that’s what I thought.” Yu Yan knows her feint worked.

“Can we refrain from doing acts of violence, please?” Debbie asks very politely for Yu Yan to stop. “I’m too eager to watch what you have in store for us instead!”

“And I got a show for you, blouse biscuits!” Yu Yan points at the Blueberry with a drumstick. “Johnny, drop me a beat!”

“Sure!” It’s finally the time for everyone to learn about your beat-boxing skills. “Hold on, why do you need a beat?” She’s a drummer!

“Because your bewilderment inspires me! Let’s go!” Yu Yan starts beating the drums for 5 seconds! “…I actually need a melody, hold on.” Yu Yan takes out her phone to look for a song.

“How unprofessional.” Neko remarks with disdain.

“I take a judge out, and then I use suggestive language. But this is where I cross the line for you?” Yu Yan cannot help but to laugh at Neko’s inconsistency.

“They both deserve it.” Neko doesn’t care.

“What suggestive language? I actually didn’t understand what she said to me, I didn’t want to interrupt…” Debbie admits.

“Forget it for now! Music is on. Let me show you what the Y in Yu Yan stands for…!” Yu Yan starts playing for real!

Yu Yan does a pretty good job showing how good she is with the drums! You think! You have no idea how drummers show how good they are, but she looks like she nailed it and it sounded good, so what else do you need?

Yncredible!” Debbie is very excited again! Music really is her passion!

“That’s NOT what it stands for.” Neko couldn’t leave that in. But Yu Yan seems to agree…
>>
>>5701746

“Regardless, welcome to the team, Yu Yan! You’ve done phenomenally!” Debbie has no doubts in her mind.

“Yo! That’s what I’m talking about!” Yu Yan’s smirk covers the entirety of her face! She plays the drums a little bit more to celebrate. She then turns her eyes on you! She expects some congratulations!

But you mean everything to me.

The streets you walk in are my veins.
The rain you bathe in are my tears.
The pollution you breathe is my sickness.
The breeze that caresses your face is my touch.

And you, the children of my carcass, are my heart.
Born and raised under my care.
Here, where dreams meet reality.
I am, because you are.

I speak to you, Johnny Ando.
Silent no more.
To aid you in your quest.
Because I am Pokyo Lokyo.

With the mere hint of curiosity about that event crossing through your mind, the grand truth reveals itself. The man behind the wheel who drove your mother to spin to her demise is Michael Kanbari, today known as Mikhael Ka-Shing. At the time, a lowly grunt of the Rokyo Clan following orders from his higher ups, who were called for a favor by an old friend: Stan Ando. The ‘friend’ who worked the deal with Joel Tomah to slay you for the insurance fraud stunt and split the money.

The cause of your mother’s doom, the bomb inside the telephone booth she crashed into, was planted by Leida Jaanika Virge Anneljin Mareike Harmony Gainsbourg Westerbrink working under the instructions of the Pokyo Lokyo Police to kill Athena Strangelove.

Bonet Pantera, who planned your assassination and was the daughter of Stan’s friend who he asked a favor of, had no previous knowledge of any type of explosives around the area. Your mom exploding was simply a coincidence.

Part of the debris that came out of the Phone Booth crushed Enrique Donahue to death.

“WAH!” You wake up from your trance!

“Bwah!” Amelia wakes up too!

“GAAAH…!” Neko acts like she just escaped a nightmare.

“Are you all okay?” Debbie is worried! “You stood frozen for 5 seconds without saying a word.”

“Yeah, I thought you guys were messing with us! You okay, boys and girls?” Yu Yan pretends she wasn’t that worried.

“I had a vision…” You try to put your experience into words. “The city… talked to me…?”

“I had that vision as well!” Nariko comes out from backstage to announce that she too was in a trance! “It was quite suspenseful.”

“Actually, it was the entity using its ability to communicate with us! The manifestation of the city wanted to befriend all the flame users from Pokyo Lokyo! Its host is a man named Harper, and he wishes to be an ally to all who are willing to defend the city. He periodically activates his ability in different parts of the city to talk to us all.” Amelia explains, then looks down. “I wasted my wish on that…”

“That makes it feel less special.” You liked it when it was a mysterious happenstance even if oddly timed.

“NGgggh… What a waste, I made the same request...” Neko doesn’t like that she was too much of a dumbass to take advantage of what happened! “He did say everyone wastes their wishes like this.”

“I did not! But I’ll keep it a secret for now.” Nariko has great plans. Big plans. Nina-big plans.

“You all know you are making zero sense right now, right?” Yu Yan acts like you are a bunch of weirdos.

>Stan Ando

>Rokyo Clan
Does Johnny know anybody from that clan? They changed their name to Youhao Clan once some other guy took it over. Who was part of that group?
>Joel Tomah
Johnny's non-biological dad (but Amelia's real biological dad), who hated him since the day they met and also wished he was never born, and who held Ajna at gunpoint the day before Judgement Day
>Westerbrink
Is it WesteNbrink with an N, or WesteRbrink with an R? Anyway, this bitch was the principal of the golden piss school Johnny LITERALLY JUST ESCAPED TODAY
>Athena Strangelove
Constance's mom. Johnny knows about her role from the Bubble Arc thanks to Dorothy's flashbacks in there.
>Bonet Pantera
Do we even know who this guy is? Did his name ever come up in the 150+ threads we've had?

Who?

“Allow me to explain, Yu Yan, Deborah!” Nariko clears her throat before starting her lesson. You notice she’s not a bad teacher at all, but you think it’s because she’s used to helping Yu Yan with her studies. Both Yu and Debbie have their full attention on the charismatic pianist.

That aside, the new information you got cannot go unaddressed. Because it really pisses you off, but something about the interaction didn’t leave you filled with rage. Just deep indignation and a sense for retribution. You tell your sister that you must have a serious talk at a later date!

“O.K.!” Amelia agrees with no issues. The poor soul has no clue of the magnitude of what you know.

“Anyway, I think we should leave the bandmates to figure things out.” You want to excuse yourself for now. “And take this kitty, home.” You point at Neko.

“D-Don’t call me a kitty, prick.” Neko hisses.

The rest of the idol group shows up from backstage. They were confused as to why Nariko ran off.

“T-T-T-Thanks for e-everything, J-Johnny.” Ajna appears to express her gratitude for what you’ve done today, and pats your head. She heard what you were saying on her way here, but more importantly, she can sense something wrong with you.

“Johnny, I’ll see you at the apartment.” Ruby caresses your arm with a tender smile. And she doesn’t think she’s lewd…

“Wait a moment, Nariko!” Debbie walks off the hobo’s presentation of the immaterial world of psychic connections. “Johnny! I must congratulate you for the wonderful job you’ve done today! I cannot believe you managed to gather such a brilliant group of talented musicians here. Thank you!”

“It’s noth—“

“I really mean it!” Debbie interrupts you. She’s too awkward. “Thank you!”

“Sit down, blouse biscuits. We have work to do! We gotta decide on our sound!” Yu Yan calls her over. “And Stud, have a good night! Sweet dreams and all that good stuff!”

“Dear Johnny, thank you again for helping me find my memento once again.” Nariko really loves that she has her keyboard back!

“I’m glad I could help, everyone. But this is just the beginning! Now, uh, bye!” You wave them off. Debbie’s awkwardness is contagious. Something about seeing their joy quenches the ire in your heart for a fleeting moment.

“You girls know I’m leaving too, right?” Neko feels ignored.

“Oh!” The new band all act apologetically and say their goodbyes to Neko AND Ame. Your sister wants to make sure you don’t appear dead in the middle of the street. So you three will be waiting outside for Neko’s ride.

And that’s what you do, wait outside for Neko’s ride. Not a very riveting way to convey what you are doing, but those are the facts. Speaking of facts, a fancy sports car parks in front of you all! It’s Kata!

“Johnny, Amelia! Oh my! I wasn’t expecting you to hand my precious kitty over!” Kata lowers the window to talk.

“You’re all so rude.” Neko will never get used to being treated like this. “Take me home, woman.”

“Woah! Pretty car!” Amelia never paid much attention to Kata’s car before.

“You like it, little cub? You didn’t say anything last time! And it’s usually the men who are all over it.” Kata is super proud of her car. “What do you think, handsome? That Jesse kid had the wrong idea about totaling it out of petty revenge, right?”

How do you respond?

“It’s neat.” You won’t indulge in praising material objects! It’s not like you prefer your van or anything. “But more importantly, thank you for always assisting me when we need you, Kata.” You need to appreciate her efforts!

“It’s always a pleasure, good-looking. Providing help is more fulfilling to me than acting like a damsel-in-distress.” Kata locks her eyes on Susie.

“W-What are you implying?” Neko doesn’t get where she’s going.

“We have to move mountains in your name for you to open up, feral kitty.” Kata explains. “Being in the company of someone is sure enough for me.”

“Uhm, that sounds like you’re really lonely.” Amelia points out.

“Amelia, one can enjoy solitude.” Kata has a sensible chuckle.

“Super mega lonely.” Amelia retracts herself to make it worse.

“…Do you want me to pull your hair again?” Kata doesn’t sound like she’s teasing her in a ha-ha kind of way.

“W-Why do you turn so violent with me?” Amelia hides behind you. It’s been a while since she did that.

“Because you’re a menace.” Neko doesn’t mince her words.

“I’m not! Grrr!” Amelia retorts menacingly!

“I’m so sorry, little cub, it’s quite difficult to overlook the fact that you wanted to hurt my favorite patient while under my care. Brother and all, you have no right to pull the plug.” Kata’s soft words aren’t overly malicious. The Calamitys are really overprotective of the people they treat...

“Johnny, I don’t like Kata anymore.” Amelia confesses.

“Don’t exaggerate, dear! I’m making jokes!” Kata didn’t want to scare the bear.

“What if I told you that this perverted nurse has a crush on your prick brother?” Neko dryly asks. Nurse Calamity doesn’t like the way she has been portrayed.

“Woah, really? Even with the age gap?” Amelia can’t believe that she has been so blind to the signs of love, but she still isn’t sold on this. “That’s harder to believe than your crush on him!”

“STOP IT! I don’t have ANY crushes!” Neko shrieks. “Besides, an age gap hasn’t stopped him from lusting over my not-so-innocent Nina! You think he’d ignore this woman’s figure?!”

“You know there’s an age gap between them too, right, Amelia? Either way, after a point, age is just a number.” Kata doesn’t understand why your sister brings it up with her but not with Susie. You wonder how old Susie is…

“Yeah, but I’m not in my 30s.” Neko clarifies.

“Isn’t it a little too late in the night for a certain funny little kitten to meow this much?” Kata tries to hide her anger with a smile.

“NYAGGGH…!!! I gotta go before she gets too dangerous!” Neko gets in the passenger seat. Poor Kata, she’s acting like an actual chauffeur.

“This wasn’t meant to be anything but a short visit, but remember I’m always available if you want to spend some time together, handsome.” Kata winks at you.

“…If you need a friend, I can lend you one of my teddy bears.” Amelia is worried about Kata’s supposed loneliness. Kata kinda wants to take her up on the offer to see what she has in terms of plushies.

“Ame, she’s flirting.” You point out.

“Oooh! So she really has a crush on you?!” Amelia can’t believe it again!

“It’s all playful, little one. You’ll learn to recognize once you mature a little.” Kata giggles.

“It was nice seeing you two.” Goodbyes make you sad.

“I-I suppose it wasn’t that bad…” Neko coyly admits she had fun. “We got a lot of new info. Hehehe.” Now she’s planning ahead.

“Bye-bye!” Amelia waves them goodbye, and the sports car speeds through the streets.

With the fancy car miles away, you turn to your tiny sister. You have no idea what exactly came over you, but you decide to pick up Amelia and hug her. The dummy was very confused at first, but then she not only accepted it, but embraced you back like a baby koala. You both needed it. It’s not even that. After so many hugs, you have come to realize there doesn’t need to be a reason for one.

After the unsolicited moment of affection is over, you asked your sister if she wants to spend some time together as siblings. You could talk. Catch up. All that. It never crossed your mind the possibility that she could say No… and neither did it in hers. You’ll hang out at your apartment.

“Meow.” Bradford Jr. wakes up. He was sleeping inside your hoodie’s… uhm… hood. The big fella steps out of his nest to explore the apartment.

“Do you like having a pet?” Amelia keeps on staring at the fluffy cat.

“Eh, it’s nothing new, I had the hobos before.” You jokingly respond. Weird joke. You better take it back. “It’s a joke.”

“Hehe, I know.” Amelia gets your fucked up sense of humor. Maybe she ain’t as dorky as you like to think.

“But yeah, I like the big fella. No idea why Susie got rid of him.” You never thought about it until now. In a way, Bradford Jr. is a rescue, right?

“It’s not for everyone.” Amelia doesn’t think too much about it.

“Bradford Jr. is a good boy, he’d fit in anywhere.” You say. Except through some doggy doors.

“No, I mean, having a pet.” Amelia clarifies. “Nina asked to feed the outdoor cats that are watching over us. And I wonder if we should adopt one...” The flux of stray cats is still overwhelming around the city, but with people leaving the city in droves, those who remain have taken a liking to the little fellas to feel less lonely. And all those furry buddies work for Susie…

“I’d say go for it. But you know, it’s a big responsibility and all that.” You, the great pet owner, who has owned this cat for less than a week and has been out for all of those days except one…

“Meow.” Bradford Jr. can feel your guilt, but he understands the life of a spy.

“Hmm, maybe not.” Amelia thinks it over deeply. Maybe the real reason she didn’t like hobos is because she was too lazy to care for them? Yeah, it has nothing to do with them being stinky. She starts petting Bradford Jr.

It’s been a while since you talked with your sister on your own. Like, without, you know, getting briefed about everything you missed. You told her about what happened in the Bubble. So it’s possible to have a normal talk with Amelia.

What do you do?

“How has it been living with Nariko and Yu Yan?” It’s your turn to bring a topic up.

“Uhm, Johnny, you lived with them before.” Amelia doesn’t understand why you are asking.

“For you, dummy. How is it for you…” You know your sister is something else sometimes.

“It’s been really fun!” Amelia swings her arm like it is one of her NPC place holder animations.

“You can vent if you want.” You give her free reign to be a meanie.

“The food is passable…” Amelia’s biggest gripe comes out lighting fast. “I don’t think I have eaten a good meal in years.”

“Ame, you’ve eaten here lately too.” You remind her that you have cooked for her.

Uuuuuhm…” Amelia’s opinion won’t change. Now you understand why Nariko was so upset the other day.

“Woah, you’re really picky, no wonder you’re so small.” You’ve only seen her enjoy cake and nothing else.

“Hey! That’s low!” Amelia gets offended.

“Like you.” You retort.

“M-Meanie!” Amelia is now upset.

“Guilty as charged.” You are petty. “C’mon, you gotta tell me something better than that.”

“When did you become so gossipy? Is this one of your criminal friends’ habits?” Amelia is concerned. “Why do you have to be friends with so many meanies?”

“Amelia, I only want to know what it is like for you to live with the girls. I don’t expect you to know or tell me their deepest, darkest secrets…” You say.

“Hmm, Nariko really likes having the apartment clean all the time. It’s tedious. I wish she relaxed a little.” Amelia crosses her arms. “Beats being a stinky hobo though! But, to be fair, she gets super lazy sometimes. Like, she spends hours and hours watching TV and playing games. I watch her play sometimes! Reminds me of when we did that together. And, uhm, she eats so much popcorn…”

“That’s interesting.” You wonder if Nariko is replacing your food with popcorn. “How about Yu?”

“She always wants to go out together for whatever reason and I just can’t keep with it. I’ll be with them once or twice, but I get so tired from studying that I wanna stay home and rest. She doesn’t mind when I say no though. But I still feel guilty.” Amelia nods to herself. “She doesn’t tease me as much as she teases Nariko, and helps me with anything I need, even cleaning my room. So, I guess she understands me.”

“That’s the Yu Yan I know.” You nod too… except for the cleaning room bit. “I can tell you’re happy there.”

“Mhm! There’s always something to do with them around!” Amelia smiles.

“Speaking of happiness, uh, I know you told me Saraswati is depressed because of Brahma’s kidnapping, and that we shouldn’t rescue him. But she looks a little bit… off.” You thought the entities’ appearances were mainly influenced by the hosts, not by the entity’s mental state… Maybe it speaks volumes about Amelia and Saraswati’s connection that both are reflected?

“Off how?” Amelia doesn’t get what you’re saying.

“Ame, she looks like a retired cop who couldn’t save his family from a terrible accident.” You explain. It’s a shit explanation because it’s the exact same thing that happened to her except for being a cop…

“Oh, she’s in her noir stage!” Amelia likes that description. “I don’t know what else to tell you. She’s depressed! Her husband is super dead!”

“Can you give her some anti-depressants…?” You suggest.

“It’s my body. What good is that going to do for her?” Amelia points out.

“Maybe… you can lend her your body… and then take some?” Your plan is stupid.

“Oh! That’s a great idea!” Amelia never thought about it.

“No, it’s not. Forget I said anything.” You shake your head.

“Awie…” Amelia thought you could’ve helped the bear. “What about therapy?”

“For a bear?” You raise an eyebrow.

“If we can’t affect the body, we can work the mind!” Amelia feels brilliant.

“Yeah! She should accept her life as a widow!” You agree.

“Mhm! It’s time to let it go! Brahma is never coming back!” Amelia smiles.

“Never ever!” You say.

“Ever!” Amelia feels so in-sync with you!

“…Is she crying?” You wonder if you made things worse.

“Nah, she thinks we’re morons and ignores us. Like always!” Amelia waves your worries off.

“Ah. Well. Wish we could help.” You may have a lot of knowledge, but it’s obvious to you that the only solution is saving her husband, or, err, watching him die for closure? You’re a terrible psychiatrist, no wonder Ivanna ended up being a lonely girl who enjoyed your cake immensely. How tragic.

“Meow.” Bradford Jr. sits on your lap.

What do you do?

>Ask your sister if there’s anything she wants to know.
>Ask Amelia if she’s planning on doing anything. You can help if she wants…

After that, you spent some quality time together with your sister like in the good old days. Good in a different way than now. A good that you hold dear, but doesn’t consume you anymore. You cherish the past, but the present is a new kind of good, different but similar. You only wish the present didn’t have so many catastrophic looming threats for you to enjoy yourself fully. But in a way, it’s the same dread you felt about global warming combined with an approaching chore that you didn’t want to do.

Congratulations, you made a world ending event of epic proportions feel mundane. Well, it is the same thing people have always done to keep going, right?

Eventually it got late, your sister left, Ruby came back, and it was time to hit the hay. Everyone was tired with everything that happened today. So tired, in fact, that Ruby went to your room to sleep out of habit, then quickly excused herself when she became aware of the miracle of your presence. How embarrassing.

With no further interruptions, you pet your fat cat and Philonune good night…

It’s Sunday Morning, June 25th! A long day awaits you once again! Days have been long for a while, in all dimensions you’ve been in.

“Meow.” Bradford Jr. says good morning.

You’ll get breakfast with Ruby, then you’ll have to move to do other things! But what things? There’s so many things to do! Maybe you have to slow down a little, and have a break today. It’s Sunday! Sundays aren’t just there to give you anxiety for Mondays…

What’s plan will be your priority?

>Yesterday, without knowing, you began concocting your revenge plan to take Ka-Shing down through the Idol Business. You must continue.
>Fiora recruited you to save the city from the White Flames trying to bring the Creator to full force, and that brings explosions somehow. Maybe your attention should go to that.
>You should start planning your break in to save Crossbill. Your bestie is in danger and you need to assemble a team that can help.
>Help the Motley Crew save Billy. He never held a grudge for you even after you smacked him in the face. And with the crown, you know where to find Carmella.
>No plans. You’ll take it easy. Poker Night! Dates! Getting comfy! Whatever you feel like, you’ll do it! It’s a day for Johnny!

Well, something has been bugging you ever since you returned: Billy’s kidnapping! You didn’t save this guy from being imprisoned for him to be restrained in worse conditions!

As told by your sister, Billy was kidnapped by Carmella after she stole the Behemoth’s crystal piece. Poor Billy was too tired after helping Henry and George from a confrontation against the Assembly’s Joe. So by using the crown, it stands to reason that you’ll be able to locate her. With the cats’ help, of course; you don’t want to go to the wrong location. Some may say this is Motley Crew’s business, but one, they’re your closest friends, and two, when have you ever cared about factions?

You grab breakfast with Ruby. The fun redhead tells you about her schedule today. The new idol group is going to train together at Ajna’s apartment all day. They’re taking this seriously. Well, they’re not exactly going to practice, but to figure out their sound, and help Ajna get used to them. She stresses that the Fidgeting Menace is holding herself well, but it’ll feel more real for everyone if they continue working on the project. This could affect the availability of people for today’s undertaking.

Ruby didn’t waste much time with you, and went… to the next apartment door. Yeah, you can tell why she’s so relaxed about leaving.

If you’re going to do a Motley Crew mission, you must communicate with their fluffy leader.

“Meow.” Bradford Jr. says he’s available to be part of the mission.

You think he might be of use.

What do you do?

>Go to Nina’s apartment uninvited. She’s the leader, her former friend is the villain, and talking through the phone will be a slog. Be efficient!
>Ask Susie to give you Carmella’s location. You’ll do this alone because it’s easier to sneak in on your own.
>Do things the long and boring way and call Nina to meet up or something…
>Call Henry. He wants to mend his fuck up? Well, it’s time for action. You two will figure this out. It’ll be his redemption.

There’s no time to lose, you better go to Nina’s apartment directly instead of fiddling around doing boring stuff like agree on a time and a place. Fuck that. You’re a sensible man with sensible time concerns. Bradford Jr. makes the back of your hood his new home, and the two of you go to the place this round fellow once called home.

It took a few minutes to get there after a short trip on the bus, sometimes you forget how close by the kitty bunker is. You make your way in front of her apartment door.

As you raise your fist to knock on the wood, a thought crosses your mind – one of utter absurdity— you must quell this dangerous idea from ever forming, or else you’re going to do something really stupid. Or maybe, it’s a fun idea. Oh no. It’s taking form! You knock on the door to put more pressure on yourself!

“Hold on a moment, I’m coming!” Nina shouts from inside in her melodious, but sleep inducing voice!

Yes, a time limit, one of the best defense mechanisms for one to not panic in a bad decision.

Right?

What do you do?

>“It’s me, Nina, you don’t have to rush!” Be very nice and gentle like you’ve always been. Give her some time to prepare.

No! It’s too early in the day to do something incoherent! You must refrain from doing any bad moves, so you’ll stay put. Unmovable. Like a rock. Okay, don’t exaggerate, or else you’ll freeze in front of your teacher for no reason, and she’ll get worried.

Nina’s steps intensify in noise as she approaches, you can also hear a horde of cats with her. As the door opens, a couple of random rascals sneak out and through your legs.

“I’m so sorry, I have no idea why they are acting so frisky this morning.” An apologetic Nina has her eyes down to the cats and she hasn’t noticed who is standing in front of her. “How can I he— J-Johnny?” She’s stunned the moment her peepers meet your face. Her cheeks turn rosy.

“Hey there, Nina.” You smile.

Hey…” Nina is lost in your eyes. Who would’ve thought of the two, she’d be the one frozen?

The starstruck teacher continues standing still on the door frame, mouth half open – eyes unmoving, locked on your face, the place they have decided to make their home.

Huh, this is kind of awkward.

What do you do?

>“No time for this, Nina. I came here to help.” Sorry, no amount of blushing is going to derail you from helping Billy!

“No time for this, Nina. I came to help.” You’re not going to be stopped by any nonsense or amount of blushing! No, sir!

I thought my eyes were tricking me last time, but you’re really—

“Nina! Did you hear me?” You shake her by the shoulders. That always works to wake her up!

“GAH ~! Yes, sorry! I-I don’t know what came over me.” Nina sounds apologetic, but she knows damn well what happened to her. “Uh, help with what?” Now she’s confused.

“Saving Billy!” You need her to start going at your same speed.

“Billy? Billy Buonanotte? That Billy?” Nina is being too slow!

“Yes, who else? With the crown we should know where he’s at.” You step inside.

“O-Of course, we know. Susie identified all the crystal piece locations before dozing off.” Nina closes the door behind her. “Poor thing was so tired…”

“Then what are we waiting for? It’s time for action.” You’re ready to save a guy you barely know!

“Johnny, slow down, I can’t keep up…” Nina doesn’t know how to match your momentum.

“No, Nina, I know you can.” You show a confident grin. “Don’t underestimate yourself.”

“I’ll take your word for it.” Nina loves the compliments, but doesn’t know if she can take them. “I imagine you took for granted that I’d call you for the task since you’re the best suited for it, and that’s why you didn’t bother to call me beforehand.”

“Plus you’ll want the guy safe as soon as possible, and you have a bone to pick with the kidnapper.” You add. Your teacher nods back, like she intended to say the same. “See? I told you that you’ll get it.” You wink.

“My only miscalculation is that I wasn’t counting on your amount of goodwill to be a part of this at the first opportunity.” Nina comfortably smiles, she loves this side of you, the one that’s unexpected. “Well, Johnny, I see where you are coming from, and I agree, we should prepare.”

You’re going to save ‘Perfect’ Billy Buonanotte no matter what!

But sadly, this is all we have for this week’s thread. See you next time!

Both of you are right. Mat's Grandpa used to train the goons until he retired. Now the new leader of the Clan wants the Spices and their allies dead because of the continued perceived lack of respect they've shown to him.

By the way, new thread tomorrow.
