THIS IS KENGAN OMICRON.

The story takes place paralell to the story of Kengan Omega, the martial arts anime/manga.

The Kengan matches are an underground fighting promotion headed by the Kengan Association. Centuries ago, the wealthiest merchants of the Edo era sent their strongest gladiators to battle out financial disputes. Today the most powerful corporations of Japan carry out this tradition. The underworld and the world of the living are about to intersect!

Martial artists who transcend the public sphere's knowledge exist in the Kengan matches. Those who eclipse the bounds of reason.

You are Billy Yang, a young Kung Fu practitioner searching for a way into the Kengan matches. After making contact with Yamashita Kazuo, a recruiter, you've begun training with veteran fighter Mokichi Robinson.
Your best friend Sammy gave you a lead on the murder of your mother as well. While investigating you managed to find and defeat one of five assassins responsible.

Your exam to become a Kengan Fighter is currently underway. You're battling an ex-champion boxer with a berserk fighting style.

At long range Satoshi is inching towards you carefully. Still reeling from his last blow you center your breathing and hold your guard closely to your body. Your eyes narrow as you try to take in the scene in front of you. The man in front of you seems like a loaded weapon, ready to be unleashed a moment's notice. You know that as soon as either of you enter range he will do one thing and one thing only.

Charge forward and try to punch you.

The smooth wooden floor underneath of you wasn't too hard of an impact. However your arms sting where you blocked his strike. If you don't time your defenses correctly it's entirely possible he could break your jaw in one punch.

Satoshi bursts into a dash, leaning forward with his guard up. When he comes into range you snap your lead leg out in a roundhouse kick aimed at his body. It lands flush, but it's not enough to stop his charge entirely.

Just as your leg comes back Satoshi is upon you. He shoots a jab into your guard and even that shakes your upper body. As his straight comes you sway back slightly and step around it, pivoting off to get some distance.

Again you hammer his liver with the lead roundhouse. This time he actually visibly winces and pauses before he dashes in once again. So, there's a chink in the armor after all.

Satoshi jabs and you duck underneath of it effortlessly. While Satoshi may be a world class boxer, he isn't known for being particularly fast or evasive. Your inhuman reactions allow you to actually slip the former champion's blows when you can see them coming.

The enemy's rear shoulder twitches and you sway to the side with your rear guard up to evade the incoming blow. Something strange happens instead however. Instead of his right straight coming, your eyes barely detect the movement of a left hook coming in from your periphreal. It slams into your one handed guard and rocks your head so hard as to actually knock you to one knee.

Satoshi has his right fist pulled back and it's about to drop on top you like the hammer of god.

Just barely you manage to sweep his legs with a spinning kick and afford yourself the time you need to get back to your feet.

As he breaks off into a mad dash once more you begin to understand what happened. Satoshi feinted with his right and actually threw a left. This is one way of circumventing the evasive abilities of someone with great reflexes.

Even still the blow he landed wasn't entirely clean. As he's coming in you steel your will and throw one more roundhouse kick to his ribcage. This time Satoshi brings his elbows in tight and blocks the blow, riding the side of your leg as he steps in with a huge overhand right. Even though you see this one coming plainly and throw your tightest guard the power is devastating. Your own forearms actually slam into your face with enough force to audibly crunch your nose.
>>
>>5824775
Warmth and wetness spill down your face and onto your shirt as you climb back to your feet, now breathing through your mouth.

As Satoshi is charging towards you a strange feeling starts to come over you in this moment of crisis.

He's racing towards you with his arms pulled in tight to protect his body. It's as if he's saying "I can take any blow you try to hit me with, and give you one right back."

You know full and well what he's going to try to do. He's going to run at you and punch you as hard as he can.

With blood pouring from your face and your arms hanging limply at your sides you start to lean forwards.

"Hey, motherfucker... Do you think you're the only one who can do this shit!?"

Frustrated you break off into a run towards Satoshi. The two of you meet head on. Dipping forward you take a huge stride with a drop step, the sound of your foot impacting the wooden floor rings out like a sudden gunshot. Simultanously your left fist is propelled forward from long range.

Satoshi throws his own overhand right at the same time you release your Jolt Straight.

Before the beginning of his punch could complete your fist had already reached him. The lightning-bolt impact of the Jolt comes from the tremendous linear speed and power generated from the drop step. Your fist hits Satoshi so hard that his entire body leaves the ground, trailing behind his head as it goes sailing and actually crashes into the wall of the studio.

Blood leaks from the new gash on Satoshi's forehead as he lay slumped against the wall.

Your left arm drop to your side, limp. Suddenly you find it quite difficult to raise. There's no pain at all, but it seems like the impact has done something to your shoulder muscles. All of their strength seems to have been spent absorbing the recoil of your own attack. Your fist is trembling.

It was an attack that had your full body weight in it landing as a counter. A punch like that would be able to knock out someone above your weight class let alone a true bantamweight like Satoshi.

You glance at the examiner and referee. Mokichi stands at the sidelines with his arms crossed. Surely this fight is over now, right?
>>
>>5824778

A chill goes down your spine as Satoshi actually begins to climb to his feet. Once more you look at Mokichi. He visibly grits his teeth. You can tell that he wants to shout out some advice but he's not allowed to at this point in the exam.

Satoshi starts to walk towards you. Blood is running from his forehead into his eyes, but he never looked at you when he was punching to begin with.

Shit. Your arm still hasn't recovered from the impact of the Jolt. He's the one who got hit with it, how the hell is he more fine than you are!?

When you look at Satoshi's eyes they're completely glazed over. You're not actually sure how conscious he is or isn't.

Blood is running from your nose as you take in breaths through your mouth. Your left arm is temporarily incapacitated.

Satoshi is marching towards you steadily. How do you want to approach this fight?

>A. You still have your right hand. Satoshi's tactics haven't changed. Hit him with another Jolt Blow.
>B. Use your reaction speed to survive at range and avoid Satoshi. Try to let your arm recover.
>C. Keep up a steady assault. Kick him from all angles, body and head. Don't let him recover.

>>C. Keep up a steady assault. Kick him from all angles, body and head. Don't let him recover.
But modify this a bit, take his legs. He probably only knows the absolute basics of checking leg kicks, if he knows it at all. If he wants to eat concussions and ignore than, then just take away his ability to walk or throw out hands with that extra oomph. Fuckin' zombie ass boxer.

Yeah I agree with this. The guy has boxing ingrained in his body, so taking his legs will lower any type of power from his punches if we mount him and lay into him while leaving our left side open.

Looks like the default strat will be keeping him at bay for the next drop step. I'm as sick of boxing Meguro as Billy.

"Hahh!!" you shout as you step forward into a front kick with your rear leg.

Satoshi crosses his arms together so that the ball of your foot impacts his elbows. Even still you're able to push the smaller man over with the full force of your kick. Satoshi flips once and rolls back to his feet as he lands, dashing straight at you with his guard pulled up.

"Foooohh.." is the sound you make as you calmly exhale through your mouth, your left arm hanging limp in front of you. It twitches as you attempt to raise it. Your right hand is pressed tightly to your cheek as protection should he manage get past your kicks.

Satoshi dashes into range and you release one more full-power push kick with your back leg. You're certain to put everything you've got into this strike, the wind around your body distorting from the force of your effort.

The boxer throws his arms up to protect his head once more. This time you're aiming for the body.

The angle is perfect. The ball of your foot hits his solar plexus with all the force of a battering ram. Satoshi is blasted off of his feet and flies to the wall where you sent him with your jolt blow. He bounces off of the wooden floor before rolling into the wall. As he struggles to his feet you no longer opt for observing his condition.

You know this crazy bastard is going to try and get up.

Before he can fully get to his feet you are upon him. With your lead kick you snap a whip-like roundhouse out, which Satoshi manages to block. However while he's recovering from the impact, you take your rear leg and slam it home to the side of his knee like a baseball bat.

Satoshi's posture crumbles as his base is taken from him. He doesn't quite fall, but he's thrown off balance for a moment.
>>
>>5826140

Off balance and his vision clouded by blood, he suddenly throws an uppercut while falling. His body contorts at a strange angle to allow the blow to generate force. You've frankly never seen a human punch like this. Satoshi must have an incredibly strong lower body to come back after getting kicked like that. It's as if all of his body weight is hanging on a single toe.

Leaning back ever so slightly, the uppercut whistles past your head. You can feel the murderous aura emanating off of his blows. Even though you've been hammering both his body and head, Satoshi's power hasn't diminished at all.

Snapping out a cross you tag him with your right hand before he can fully recover and step back outside of his range. It buzzes him for just long enough to give him pause until his mad dash resumes. From this distance you get a chance to observe how Satoshi is handling your offense.

He is sweating heavily. You're starting to get into a rhythm where you can hit him cleanly but he can't hit you. His exceptional toughness had thrown you off at first, but your body attack in particular is wearing down his stamina.

The former champion rushes straight for you.

You carefully wait for him to commit to his rush. Once you're sure he's stepped in you backstep off angle to the right to avoid his stiff jab. From here you snap out a side-kick at his knee joint, landing solidly. Satoshi adjusts his body to face you, squaring himself up further. As he does you're letting another full power leg kick with your rear leg off.

Hitting his leg with three solid kicks in a row is causing visible bruising already as the blood vessels begin to get damaged. Even still Satoshi grits his teeth and throws an overhand right your way.

By now you know better than to even attempt to block it.

You leap backwards and flip once through the air, creating a vast amount of distance between you and Satoshi.

He's starting to weaken. Feeling in your left arm is beginning to return as well. You clench your fist and slowly raise it back to guard. How do you want to handle this?

>A. Keep this up. If you gradually build damage with your kicks something will eventually break.
>B. Lead him into another Jolt Blow.
>C. Finish him with a Baji Quan chain rush. Use Fa Jin punches and elbows to blast him through the walls.

With this let's aim for the vitals: The Liver, Solar plexus again, his head, let's beat him until he isn't even twitching. If he stands up after that then we'll land a full jolt to his stomach

Satoshi dashes directly towards you.

His step in is considerably fast due to him being a natural bantamweight. You can imagine how he would be able to instantly overtake someone who didn't have your advanced reflexes. As Satoshi is running forwards you could swear it seems as if he's coming at you with renewed fervor somehow. Even though you've been one-sidedly beating on him he hasn't been deterred at all.

This guy's way of fighting goes beyond a mere faith in his ability. You're not sure what enables him to endure such punishment, but you know one thing is certain.

If you try to finish him with anything half-hearted he could make a comeback at any time. It's your job to prevent that. Steeling yourself you drop into an extremely wide stance, lowering your center of gravity for your Baji-Quan.

The only sound in the dojo is Satoshi's footsteps as he ducks down and covers his head once more. Blood flies from his forehead as his dash accelerates another gear as it fully closes in.

Kicking off with your back leg you begin the assault. Satoshi's guard opens up as he begins to sling a left hook towards your head.

He hasn't seen you do this yet. Your head vanishes from it's apparent position as your front leg slides forward and your center of gravity drops down, empowering your outstretching vertical-fist with the power of Fa-Jin.

It hits Satoshi dead in the solar plexus. He audibly gags, spraying blood across your arm and shoulder as he does. Before his body can go flying back, however, he actually manages to grab your arm with his own outstretched lead hand as it recovers from the missed punch.

You feel your feet nearly get pulled from the ground from the force of your own strike but you and Satoshi land a split second before that happens. It seems like he was anticpating absorbing a blow, but you don't think he expected it to be that damaging. His grip is still solid, however. He starts to hammer you with his right hand, throwing repeated hooks to your kidney.

The pain is immediate and sharp from Satoshi's iron-hard knuckles. Glancing into his eyes you can see his refusal to give up in spite of the internal damage he's sustained. It honestly gives you pause, allowing him to land another blow to your midsection, folding you to the side briefly.

He releases his grip as you reel and fires off a jab, a "Shh!" sound shooting sharply from his mouth.
>>
>>5826408
The blow is clincal. It hits the side of your jaw and your vision distorts as your brain is rattled.

Time seems to slow down as you try to absorb what's happening in front of you. Your vision is completely unreliable right now. You can't use your reflexes to tell if Satoshi is about to throw a blow or not.

But then again, you don't need to wonder.

Bracing your legs you feel your lead knee bump into Satoshi's. His knee is close to yours. You're well within range of each other. It's how the smaller man's jab was able to land so clean. You know that if his jab was able to hit you, then you're certainly in range of his cross.

Is there any question as to whether or not Satoshi would throw a finishing blow?

Your head leaves behind an afterimage as you dip down into a deeper stance once more. Satoshi's cross sails through it harmlessly. With your back leg you kick off with all of the strength you possess.

Your elbow crashes into Satoshi's Solar plexus. The crunching noise it makes is something you've never quite heard in your life.

Blood sprays across your emotionless face as he goes flying. Kicking off once more with your back leg you shift stances and fly into another Fa-Jin boosted blow as Satoshi is still flying across the room. You intercept his travel and strike him in the face with your right fist, now causing him to violently spin through the air.

"HAAAH!!!!" you scream. Satoshi's body bounces off of the wooden wall.

Again. Kick, shift, slide and punch. The All of the linear power your body can muster hammers Satoshi's midsection into the wall just as he bounces off of it. The wall crumbles into a crater as splintered wood flies in every direction, several pieces scratching your arms and face.

You take several steps back, panting. Taking a moment you admire your handiwork.

Satoshi's body is folded into the wall itself. He audibly gurgles as blood spills from his mouth.

"Shit! Get the medic!" yells one of the examiners. They race to Satoshi's aid as you slowly step backwards.

You stand there trembling slightly. Mokichi walks into your periphreal.

"Don't worry." he says, observing the situation calmly. "That was one hell of an attack, but fighters have survived much worse. I can speak from experience on that one. Nonetheless.. It was great to see what kind of power you can unleash when you're backed into a corner."

Mokichi smiles at you.

The adrenaline is still pumping through you. You don't really react as you try to process that the exam is over.

"Oh, you passed if it wasn't obvious enough." says the priest. He slaps you on the back and starts to walk away. "You made the right choice by going for the finish. Dragging things out against that guy is how people lose."

What do you want to say?

>A. If he fought smarter, I'm not sure I could have beaten him
>B. What an annoying style. This guy's completely nuts.
>C. I can see why he was a champion, but his style doesn't seem suited for the Kengan Matches.

It's one thing to be able to push through damage, or mitigate it through techniques or natural toughness, it's another to just straight eat hits and hope you hit back harder. You can be as tough as you want, if someone breaks your leg you ain't gonna fight too good afterwards. To say nothing of ruptured livers, kidneys, and pancreases. In a world of bare-minimal rules, you can't rely on no one throwing dirty hits or just plain cruel tactics.
>>
>>5826414
>A. If he fought smarter, I'm not sure I could have beaten him
I really want to learn Jujutsu from Mokichi if he's still offering, because this fight would've been over in seconds if we choked out Satoshi.

While the guy sure can take hits he isn't someone who can push through getting his organs ruptured. Lesson we can take from this here is that if we wanna win, Honor goes by the wayside and we do whatever it takes. We won due to a mix of keeping cautious against his own swings and being ruthless when the opportunity presents itself. We probably bursted his stomach and liver open with that Fa Jin rush, but that's sometimes what it takes to bring down tough bastards or those who don't feel or get off on pain
>>
>>5826448

I personally think if we wanna learn jujutsu we go to ol Cosmo for it since it's his specialty. While Mokichi is a great all rounder, if we wanna TRULY get good we gotta train under those who have specialties for the specifics of what we wanna learn
>>

Sadly we aren't Koga so we won't have everyone falling over their own nuts to train us just because we showed up.
>>

We may not be Koga, but I see us starting here as a hell of an introduction for us for the judges. Give it time and we'll be able to meet with others to learn under. It'd be an insult to Mokichi if we're to stick by him as a teacher forever, but we'll be learning more in action proper I feel so we gotta plan out what it is we should sharpen up on.

"I can see why he was a champion, but his style doesn't seem suited for the Kengan Matches."

Mokichi's head turns to watch Satoshi's limp body being carried out on a stretcher.

"Well, he's not exactly normal." remarks your teacher. "There's a shower in the back of the studio here. Go clean off and we'll go get something to eat and talk about what to do next. You really proved your strength here today, Billy."

You head on back and strip down to clean yourself off. As the hot water sprays out you lay your hands flat against the wall and look down at your feet, blood washing down the drain. A miture of yours and Satoshi's.

That was an even more intense fight than when you took on Jiang. In fact, when you think about it, all of the Kengan Association fighters that you've met up to this point could have taken him out more easily than you. Even Satoshi with his insane toughness would have blown right through the Snake-Style.

Standing up straight you take a deep breath through your mouth, since your nose is still broken. Your left shoulder is becoming incredibly sore rapidly.

Rubbing it with your right arm you wonder if your muscles weren't strong enough to handle the recoil of the blow. It would be smart to have to do some more strength and conditioning work as your technique continues to improve. Not only would it increase your strength and endurance, but it would help to prevent potential injuries while training.

A short time later you come back, refreshed, to the studio. Mokichi leads you back to a car outside, where a driver is waiting for the two of you.

First you go to a private doctor hired by the association. All of the fighters being examined today are being funnelled through this location as medical teams work in shifts to treat everyone. Afterwards the two of you are taken to an expensive western-style resteraunt for lunch.

Mokichi orders a club sandwich with pickles and french fries.
>>
>>5831592

You just get a milkshake as solid foods don't sound too appealing right now. You can still taste blood in your mouth as you drink it, but it's still refreshing.

The priest sitting across from you takes a few bites of his food before launching into his next point. "So, now that you've passed this stage of things from here I'm going to be handing off your training to some others in the Association. I've got some business to take care of in England, there's been some turf wars and power shifts going on because of the Worm's activities. You've got a few options that I'll lay out for you. This is just who's available, so you'll almost certainly get the chance to train with others as people's schedules move around."

He pulls out his phone and starts showing you video of different Kengan Association fighters battling it out.

"Here are your options."

>A. Nikaido Ren: Captain of the Heavenly Wolves. A master of Guang Da, The Heavenly Wolf Fist. A Japanese style of Kung Fu specialized for use on the battlefield. Of your choices Nikaido possesses the most varied techniques.

>B. Kure Hollis: The Wailing Demon. One of the most influential assassins of the Kure Clan. It's said that he was hired to help train new association fighters. The Kure Clan are unique physical specimen and many of their techniques cannot be passed on to non-clan members, due to differences in physiology. Of your choices Hollis has the most raw power.

>C. Misasa: The Eighth Fang of Metsudo, Captain of the Bodyguards of Katsuharo Metsuda, former Kengan Association Chairman. Misasa specializes in the martial art Silat, used for ultra-close range combat. Of your choices Misasa is the most fundamentally sound.

Unless we get more information on Kure, Misasa seems like the best choice. Silat seems like it synergizes well with Baji Quan (that's how you spell it, right?) which is also super close ranged. Nikaido might have more varied techniques, but ultimately it's just a different style of Kung-Fu.

"Misasa sounds like a good choice for me. Silat would probably compliment my Baji-Quan well."

Mokichi nods, chewing his food and wiping his mouth before replying. "I thought so too. There isn't really a wrong choice here."

You smirk, an ill fitting grin on aninjured face such as yours. "Lotsa ways to skin a cat, huh?"

The two of you finish your meal and depart. You're being dropped off at the motel where you normally stay.

On the way there Mokichi picks up on something he mentioned earlier. "I guess now's a good time to tell you about Satoshi a little bit. I couldn't give you too much information before the match without giving you an unfair advantage. He was a national champion who was said to have the potential to reach the world-level if he was able to become more technical. However, a drunk driving accident resulted in Satoshi taking the life of a young couple. Rumor has it that the money he makes from the Kengan Matches goes to the families left behind. Now he's descending into the underworld, and his 'boxing' style is becoming more and more like a 'brawling' style each time he fights. The next time you see him he'll probably have adapted even more to his new environment."

You stare wistfully out the window as Mokichi gives you his story. A part of you wishes to speak to Satoshi now. There'll probably be another chance one day, as long as you keep fighting in the Kengan Matches.

Mokichi drops you off and you shake hands with the priest. He squeezes yours firmly, clasping it with his other hand and looking you in the eyes. "Keep it up, Billy. Misasa is on a whole other level compared to most Kengan Fighters. You'll have your work cut out for you. For now just take some downtime. Mr. Yamashita will reach out for you when the time comes."

He leaves, and for the first time since the day started you're left to your own devices. It's now early in the afternoon.

Your head hurts. You go inside the motel and decide to take it easy until tomorrow, at the very least.

You spend the night watching movies and reflecting on the battles behind you.

Once the morning comes your stomach is growling. After refreshing wash you step out the door and begin your day. Your nose is still messed up and your whole body is aching.

How do you want to spend the day?

>A. Call Sammy and talk to him about tracking down the rest of your Mother's Assassins
>B. Call Kobe and tell her about your experiences in the exam, and catch up in general
>C. Wander around town and see what kind of trouble you can stir up
>D. Call Mr. Yamashita and see if there are any Kengan Matches you can watch coming up

Surprise late night update incoming

B wins

Side note: I've been messing around with AI art prompts lately, never really fooled with it before. I was thinking it might be a cool way to represent the original characters in the quest. How do people here feel about it?

give it a try, it'd be nice to have some images along the posts

I'm pretty happy with two potential images for our protagonist. I'll post the other in the update.

Seeing as you've had your fill of Testosterone after your experiences hunting down Jiang and dealing with Satoshi, you give Kobe a call. The ringtone barely completes it's first tone as Kobe answers. "Billy! Did you pass your exam!?" she shouts at once. Even though it's early in the morning she seems more awake than you are.

"I did." you say, your voice sounding awfully nasally from your bloodied face. "My opponent was really strong. I'm probably not going to be able to train for at least a few days. What are you doing today? Want to hang out?"

"I have to work at the gym today. But you can come hang out here if you want. I don't do a ton at reception anyways."

With an objective set you make your way down to the Kasparov Gym. The reception area is clean and modern, the walls are painted a pastel blue not dissimilar to the hoodie that Kobe wears.

Once inside she waves you over. "Yo. Your face is messed up. I could hear it over the phone."

You grin. "Heya. I fought a crazy boxer. He accidentally murdered someone and it made him nuts or something."

Kobe's face turns incredibly serious. "That would make me go nuts too. But you won?"

"Yeah." you say, nodding thoughtfully. I'm officially a Kengan Fighter. I just have to wait for Mr. Yamashita to give me a call once I'm rested."

She's beaming at you. "Wow. Do you think you could take me to see a match sometime?"

She begins to punch and kick at the air. You smirk. "I don't see why not. You already know about them, pretty much. I'll find out when the next match is from Mr. Yamashita. Maybe you can come see one of mine, too."

Kobe stops her shadowing and turns to look at you. "Don't wanna. If you get knocked out, I'll be all alone with a bunch of gangsters and shit. Kobe is not gangster."

You put a finger to the air thoughtfully. "Neither is Mr. Yamashita, but everyone seems to like him. It's not as scary as you think, I promise."

From there the two of you fully catch up on each other's activities. Kobe is studying sports science while she works part time at the gym. She regularly stops to question the realistic validity of what happens in your fights, but you assure her things are really that insane.

When the time for her break comes the two of you go and get lunch together.

In the time spent together a strange spark of a feeling starts to rise in your chest. It's a glimmer of joy. You've spend so much time sharpening your skills for the next fight, your mind envisioning the next opponent. Things have been moving so fast that it's made it easy to distract yourself from how much you miss your home.

Looking across the diner table at Kobe you fail to find the words to express what you want to. You're just grateful to spend some time talking to someone normal.

The two of you step outside. She turns back towards Kasparov. "Back to work. Uncle Ivan gets annoyed if I'm gone too long."

You smile. "Thanks for hanging out with me today, Kobe. I had a good time."

She bounces right back at you. "Me too! You should go home and take it easy. You probably got like, four different concussions yesterday. Seriously."

You rub the back of your head. "Right, I'll do that. Later."

Waving goodbye you go your separate ways.

The next week passes by. Per sensibility, you actually mostly stay back at the motel while you heal.

That's when you recieve a text message from Mr. Yamashita.

"Dear Billy, congratulations on passing your exam. Satoshi is unbelievably tough. Lots of fighters would have failed against him. Good choice deciding on being trained by Misasa next as well! For your training with him we will be sending you to an island location, the home of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament."

"The what-now?" you say aloud to no one in particular. It sounds familiar, and also mysteriously badass.

The rest of the message reads as follows. "In two days a driver will arive at your motel in the early morning and take you to a ferry where you'll be transported. Until then do your best to remain injury free. Misasa's training regime is legendary among the Bodyguards."

You've got your next set of instructions. You're also more or less healed up. In large part thanks to routine medical care from Association Specialists.

What do you want to do until it's time to go train with Misasa?

>A. Call Mr. Yamashita and see about viewing a Kengan Match. Might be a good idea to get a read on some of your peers.
>B. Call Sammy and have him dig up information on the next assassin. You've captured the Snake, but the Turtle, Tiger, Dragon and Phoenix still remain.
>C. See what random shenanigans you could get into in downtown Tokyo.

Once inside you sort through your things and produce the address of Fu Wen, the Turtle of the Mao Clan. He doesn't seem to have been directly involved in the hit on your mother, but he's the only lead towards those who were. You call your best friend in Chicago, Sammy. After a few rings he answers.

"Yo."

It's amazing that he's awake at all right now considering what time it is for him. Being an avid gamer will do that to you, apparently. You're fairly sure you've never beaten Sammy in a fair game of Street Fighter. The ones where you unplugged his stick don't count.

"How you been bro?" you inquire cheerfully.

"Just great. Been on a hot streak lately. How's the insane underground fighting going?"

"Good, I passed my exam!" you say, thrilled. "I was hoping you'd help me find the next assassin." you say, less thrilled.

Sammy laughs. "Dawg, you say the craziest shit like it's normal. I love you, of course I'll do some google-fu on your assassin. Address?"

You relay it to him and you can hear Sammy's keyboard clack through the phone. "I'll send all this to you in the morning. This Turtle guy actually has a little bit more info on him around."

"Thanks." you say, hanging up the phone and promptly going to bed.

When you wake you waste no time in investigating the messages that Sammy has left you.

This time, he actually has a recent picture to show you. Not to mention a link to the guy's website. Curious, you investigate. There are numerous videos of him teaching Karate classes. Seems like he's a fairly popular instructor. A larger scale than what Jiang was doing. You frown.

If all of these assassins have turned their lives around, what then? Is beating them really enough of a vengeance? The only thing it proves to anyone is that you are stronger than them. The Turtle isn't directly responsible, but he is related to the people who are.

There's still a couple days before you go off to train with Misasa on the Kengan Association's private island.

Do you want to go investigate Fu Wen Hao, the Turtle before you go?

Why not now?

You have time, and you know where he is. As far as you can see there shouldn't be any issue with checking things out immediately.

Grabbing a fat wad of your fight money and and a carrybag just in case you spend the night, you depart. Thankfully the public transportation system in Japan seems to be pretty robust. Even without a vehicle, thanks to a series of trains stops and bus rides you eventually make your way to a town several hours to the north.

There was time to get a meal or two on your stops. There's something to be said for Japanese food, as well. Even though you're going to fight an assassin the scenery gives the trip of a thin veneer of being pleasant. Once you arrive at your destination the charm is wearing thin.

The bus rolls away, leaving behind a small dust cloud from the dry dirt road it rode in on. You're on the outskirts of some town you've never heard of.

In front of you is a dirt path leading to a set of stone stairs that wind their way up a dry grassy hill. On the top of that hill lies your objective, the Fu Wen Hao Karate Dojo. As you make your way up the path you can hear the shouts of the students as they're instructed in katas. There's also the ever approaching sound of strikes being landed, bone on bone or bone on flesh. As you come to the top of the hill you are greeted by a large wooden door. This place almost feels like an old fashioned castle in the way the architecture is set up.

Do you go in through the front door? It sounds like there are people on the other side.

>A. Go in through the front. There's no need to be indirect.
>B. Go around the wall and find a place to sneak in. No need to make yourself apparent immediately.

You step forward and lift up the wooden bar locking the door in place. It's heavy and requires you to brace yourself. It flips over and the doors swing wide towards you underneath their own weight. Taking a careful step back, you watch the doors slam against their hinges with a thunderous sound. At once, all the students in the courtyard turn and look at you.

All dressed in white gi they stare at you. They vary in size, age, gender and ethnicity, but most seem to be young adults from the local area. There seems to be a proper belt system. Your eyes instantly scan the small crowd for the black belts and instructors.

Like lamps lit in the darkness, you can feel their individual strength emanating from amongst the group.

In the same vein the most experienced of their school can also feel your strength. The wind gently blows as you hold fast in the largest staredown you've ever taken part in.
>>
>>5859412
One of the blackbelts walks forward and makes himself apparent. He's quite large, standing at what you estimate to be a good 6'4" and 260 lbs. Well balanced, muscular, and powerful, his physique seems like it would be enough to get him into the Kengan Matches all by itself. He's also totally bald and has somewhat of a squashed face, with a piggish nose. The belt tied around his waist signifies his experience at this school of martial arts.

The large man places his hands on his belt and regards you with a surprisingly pleasant attitude. "You'll have to come back another time. We're not taking on students from the public currently. I can give you our dojo's card with the website link and all our info.."

Your eyes narrow as you size him up and down. You see no reason to disguise your purpose for being here.

"I'm here to kick Fu Wen Hao's ass and make him answer some questions."

His muscles ripple underneath his gi as he flexes in response to your statement. "What!? You can't possibly be serious. You're dojo busting in the modern day?"

You sneer. "It's just incidental that he has a dojo! I don't know why these assassins do this! Get the fuck out of my way!"

The group is beginning to coalesce around the two of you. Glaring around you feel the situation beginning to turn. These people have no idea what kind of man is training them. The fact that they're acting like you're in the wrong here is just pissing you off more.

"You need to leave." barks the big guy. "You're not seeing the Master. Honestly-"

He starts to close in to grab you and carry you away. The group is forming around you and blocking you off from going any way but the exit. How do you want to handle this situation?

If you had to guess there's maybe 50 people altogether. The size of a group isn't as much of a problem as the number of experienced fighters they might have. Even though it's karate you're unfamiliar with the particular quirks of this school's training. Your instincts tell you the strongest among them don't reach you indivudally, but that makes it all the more difficult to pick them out from the crowd of fodder.

>A. Lead them by the nose. Leap over the crowd entirely and make a mad dash through the school. If you run around and use the inteririors to your advantage, you can reduce the threat of their numbers.
>B. Pierce through directly. Use a Fa-Jin empowered Baji-Quan rush on the large blackbelt in front of you. Show them they do not want to fight you at all.
>C. Fight them as they come. Use your advanced reaction speed to counter them down one by one. If you beat them hard enough they'll give up.
