Welcome back.

Rules are simple: Votes are tallied every hour, with whatever course of action being the most popular being the course of action taken. Write ins are encouraged and non-mutually exclusive votes will be combined if possible.

When a roll is called for, roll however many D100 are specified. 5- is a 'crit fail' and generally means something bad is about to happen. 95+ is a 'crit success' and generally means something good just happened. a 'crit success' trumps a crit fail. User input on both will be taken into consideration.

For a short summary for the new and to recap:

You are Alex. A newly minted trainer and camping enthusiast just starting out on your journey at the age of seventeen after your father lost his job in order to help pay the bills. On the road, you met Fie, the Fire Gym Leader, Gareth a novice Aura Guardian on pilgrimage and Holly, a runaway heiress using a pseudonym. You've also made enemies of Team Green a group of violent, radical activists looking to abolish pokemon training.

Last time, you camped, trained, dreamed and started a battle.

Well, you're not interested in being a dick, so that really only leaves one choice.

"Go, Blitz!" You say.

He barks and looks at the opposing Centiskorch with undisguised excitement.

"Flame Wheel!" The boy orders, pointing at Blitz, evidently confident.

To the side, Gareth winces and the girl travelling with the two boys shakes her head as Centiskorch slams into Blitz and rolls away... leaving him glowing as Flash Fire takes the hit and leaves him looking even more amped than he did at the chance to get a battle in.

"Hey, no fair!" The boy protests. "You said I'd get a free shot!"

"You did." You observe. "You're the one who decided to use a Fire Type move on a pokemon that's fairly well-known for having the Flash Fire ability."

"You're cheating!" The boy persists.

"Just to make a point..." You preface, before releasing Rascal. "If I wanted to be a poor sport, believe me, I could be a poor sport." You recall Rascal after giving him a pat before stowing his ball. "Satisfied?" You ask.

"Gnn... Centiskorch, Bug Bite!" The boy orders, his voice breaking half way through.

Blitz sways through the steps, neatly evading Centiskorch's bite in the process.

"Dragon Breath." You order, seizing the opportunity the miss presents.

In response, Blitz blasts Centiskorch point blanc with a roiling torrent of purple flame that sends it cartwheeling back towards its trainer, badly hurt, aura barely a few shades brighter than its body and wracked by paralysis.

"Wha- Smokescreen!" The boy orders.

This battle is yours. The kid is either in denial, or determined to go down fighting.

You've got to commend that spirit at least.

The only question is how to end this.

The boy stares as Blitz darts in and side-swipe's Centiskorch, unbothered by the smoke, knocking it clean out.

"Centiskorch is unable to battle." The girl declares.

"How about you send in another pokemon." You offer.

The boy looks up.

"Why?" He says.

"Well I did. Only fair you get a switch-in." You reply.

The boy wavers, then nods.

"Go, Masquerain!" He orders.

Uh-oh, you might be in trouble.

Blitz cringes as Masquearain's Intimidate cowes him, though this isn't that big an issue, what with being amped by Dragon Dance and Flash Fire.

"Rain Dance!" the boy orders.

"I did. I'd advise you brush up on your fire safety and teach that Centiskorch Dig." You say.

He nods.

"I'll do that." He assures, before stepping back to allow the other kid to step up.

You resume your mark and wait for Gareth and the girl to recite the rules, before reaching for your belt with the kid.

You're not sure you like how he's smiling, but then he has seen half your team owing to that break.

"Dragon Dance into Double Team." Your order.

Blitz goes through the steps for Dragon Dance, before charging neatly and effortlessly into a Double Team as Dwebble emerges panting, its paralysis having apparently robbed it of the necessary momentum to be dangerous.

"Dammit... Rock Blast!" The boy orders desperately, but you've got the initiative and Blitz had the angle.

"Dragon Breath." You order.

Another roiling sheet of purple fire later and Dwebble is down and out.

"Aw, man..." The boy groans as he recalls his pokemon. "...Good match." He admits at length.

"Anytime." You say, giving him a thumbs up.

You exchange some more pleasantries, before you part ways, heading downhill towards Silveridge while they continue on towards Saltcoast.

You leave Blitz out to run in the wake of the battle and for once, he's not running circles around the group, staying close to your side, apparently having gotten enough exercise to be content just walking now.

(Part 1)
>>
>>5912507

The rest of the morning passes without incident and by lunch, you're back in Silveridge.

It's not quite as lively in terms of Team Green running amok this time, but you see a lot more trainers moving about.

It looks like the League season is getting properly started now.

You're still able to get a bed a room at the pokemon centre, but it's a lot more crowded and instead of getting Eevee looked at being a matter of five minutes, you wind up being given a ticket and quoted half an hour.

The PC is presently unoccupied however.

You don't immediately spot Jean and the others either.

This leaves you with some time to think on what you want to do next.

You go over to the PC and swap Blitz for Volta.

Your brother and sister are at school right now, but you're sure your dad will make sure Blitz isn't just lazing around.

Thie done, you head out to the back court and release Volta, Rascal and Queenie for some training.

Or, that's the plan, but it seems like Volta is in the mood for some pats after her convalescence.

You spend a few minutes ruffling her mane and humoring her, before you refocus on training.

You give it some thought, before giving Queenie a moderately sized pebble you spy in the corner of the court to fly laps with, before you set Volta to climbing one of the smooth, steel posts to help build her strength.

For Rascal, it takes you a little longer to find some appropriate training, but you find a good tutorial video on stomping exercises and wing strengthening.

After that, you supervise.

Queenie does fairly well, managing nearly half a dozen laps before she finally drops the pebble and flutters over to collapse on your shoulder, panting faintly at the edge of your hearing.

You pour some water into the cap of your water bottle and hold it for her while she drinks.

Volta meanwhile has gotten into the groove of things, bounding up to the top of the metal pole you designated over and over. She inevitably has to drag herself the last metre or so each time, but it's proving to be good exercise for her and she's having to climb noticably less as time ticks by.

Rascal meanwhile takes to the exercises you gave him straight away and while with the wing exercises, the improvement isn't immediately obvious, by the time you call a halt, you can feel his stamping on the asphalt through your shoes from the other side of the court.

All in all, you feel pretty confident that you've made good progress over the past hour's training.

You spend some time wiping Volta and Rascal down and giving them pats, before recalling them and heading back in to pick up Fluffy, who you're relieved to hear just needed a potion and a little rest.

Well, you came here for an actual reason so you might as well get on that.

You try calling them, but the message goes straight to their respective message banks, so instead, you start going around town looking for them.

It takes you about an hour before you see the four of them coming out of an electronics store looking as if they just finished with something unpleasant, though they perk up when they see you.

You decide to go check out the museum again now it's not smoked out and see how that fossil is coming along.

When you get there, it's open and there's a fair amount of traffic, but the receptionist waves as you come in and after a short conversation you're ushered through to the labs.

You're directed to outfit yourself with PPE before you head on into the lab proper, where you can see techs painstakingly preparing fossils, examining others and working with pipettes and microscopes and test tubes and more advanced and arcane machines whose names and functions you can only guess at.

It doesn't take long to get directions to a tech working on the chunk of amber that Jean gave you, whom briefly informs you that he's only just finished the process of describing the fossil and he's just about to start on the restoration process, which is liable to take a few days as more expedient processes will result in the destruction of the fossil and were outlawed years ago.

>Ah. Well, that's understandable.
>Aw.
>Damn, I was hoping you were done.

>What next?

See if we can find that rock shop again and purchase a Heat Rock and any reading materials on similar stuff.
Then head off for some battles.

You nod.

"So how do they work? The two processes, I mean." You ask.

The tech brightens, before he starts outlining the both of them.

It becomes pretty obvious pretty quickly why the old method got banned - it was destructive in nature, routinely resulting in the entire fossil in question being destroyed in order to extract enough DNA for the cloning process.

Paradoxically, the later processes couldn't have been achieved without this earlier base as it allowed a larger repository of DNA to be gathered and recorded with which to fill in blanks in a given fossil sample which in turn led to faster and more stable clones.

You don't fully understand the tech's full breakdown, but that's the general gist of it if you've followed his explanation correctly.

It's nearly half an hour before he lets you go to refocus on his work, but you feel like you've learned something which is an awesome feeling, especially without a classroom involved.

You decide to try and find another battle, which takes you back towards the pokemon centre.

When you get there, you see three peopl not presently engaged in anything at present - a hiker who looks to be enjoying sitting down for a moment, a man in a wingsuit with a Skarmory perched next to him and a slip of a girl who, for reasons you can only guess at, gives you the creeps just looking at.

"Want to battle?" You ask.

She considers it for a moment before nodding.

You go to the arena behind the pokemon centre and square up.

There's a beat before you both release:

"Go, Volta!" You say.

"Go, Haunter!" The girl says.

Huh. Is this why the girl was giving you the creeps?

Seems a bit backwards.

Regardless...

Haunter glows and Volta glows in sympathy.

Uh oh. You've heard of this move.

A sinister aura settles around Volta as her bite knocks Haunter out, the latter dissipating into mist as the girl recalls her before Volta's aura goes from vibrant green to sickly green.

You're either going to have to make this quick, or switch her, because Curse is definitely meeting your expectation of it being a pain in the ass.

"Hm. Golett." The girl says, releasing a nuggety little almagamation of clay and rock onto the field opposite you. "Mud Slap." She orders.

"Bite." You order.

In response, Volta bounds in and clamps her teeth down on Golett's arm, taking the wad of mud Golett throws in response on the chin.

To your eyes, her aura glows orange tinged purple, while Golett's is simply orange right now.

As you watch, she shudders and her aura drops to red.

"Well don.e" The girl says to her Golett, who flexes as Rascal slowly comes around.

This isn't looking good...
