It’s Friday, June 30th, before dawn. The night continues shrouding the sky, and you are exhausted. You’re not trying to be funny, this isn’t your mind being depleted and forcing you to be dumb, you’re dead tired. Every single muscle in your body has called it quits, there’s an internal holiday that spans from top to bottom, and only your brain has shown up to save you from having a stroke. The last few days have been far too taxing on your body, nights of fun have their price, but hey, your Athletics have gone up!

Congratulations, you’ve reached level 5 Athletics after a long night of fun and exercise!

This is the only good news you’ll receive from your body. Enjoy it somehow. Anyway, you must be wondering why you are awake if you’re so tired. Shouldn’t you be sleeping soundly after being worked to the bone? How come your eyelids have decided to do one last push like Matilda demands it? Well, the reason is a melody. A song. Soothing music that makes the exhaustion go away. This *isn’t* flame shenanigans or anything of the like, but it is magical to you. It isn’t the most beautiful singing in the world like Debbie’s, but it energizes the soul. Like literally, Philonune feels empowered.

This lullaby isn’t a recording, the maiden’s voice is outside the building, meaning someone you know is likely to be singing. The Tomatoes, both original and honorary, are cuddling next to you, Wilma being the bigger spoon. This leaves you with two possibilities, either Fiora or the Innkeeper, because there’s no way Odetta can emit any sound that isn’t annoying. Curiosity reigns your mind, and won’t be satiated easily.

All that aside, with this mysterious strength, you’re capable of picking up your phone and seeing the time. It’s almost 5:30 AM. You noticed a message coming from Vera. It’s about the prison break. The preparations are ready for the most part, and you must contact her to get the details. Good! You were planning on focusing on saving Crossbill as soon as possible instead of going to school, even though you should probably go.

Tired or not, you feel like you can do something now.

What do you do?

>Find the Healing Singer. Perhaps you can unlock the secret to not being as tired.
>Go to sleep. Not all mysteries have answers like Snowman Johnny.
>Call Vera, get things in motion for the big day.
>Write In.

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical! There are no Critical Failures anymore!

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

Evidently, what must be done has to be done, your plan to save Crossbill takes priority now. You make your way to the bathroom to make the call, and let the girls continue their rest.

“Johnny, It’s 4 AM! WHAT THE HELL?! Why are you calling me this late?!” Vera doesn’t take this random call well. Silly Vera, you know it’s 5 AM. But you know how stupid she can be.

“Why did you answer the phone if it bothers you so much?” You raise an eyebrow.

“You know I’d never waste a chance to hear your voice again, you silly idiot!” Vera rages on. “What’s going on? Do you miss me? Is that it? If that’s it, I’m sorry for yelling…”

“Huh, I saw your message, and you told me to call you as soon as I can.” You explain.

“Johnny, I sent that like 6 hours ago.” Vera dryly retorts.

“Sorry, I was busy. But I’m not now!” You casually say.

“Busy doing what?” Vera wants answers.

“Stuff.” You can’t tell her you got married. Despite all your positive feelings about Vera, she’s nuts.

“What kind of stuff? You sound tired as hell.” Vera pressures for an answer.

“You know… stuff” Through the door, you look back at your wife and… her… uh… Matilda? Your joke falls apart if you take the martial artist into the equation.

“Your answers don’t give me the details I need! Give them to me!” Vera demands.

“Keep it down, you’re probably going to wake up your family.” You need her to chill out.

“Don’t you dare make sense now...” Vera doesn’t like when someone weaponizes being reasonable.

“The plan, Vera, we need to talk about the plan.” You get serious.

“…You’re not seriously proposing to hold a team meeting at 4 AM, right?” Vera half chuckles.

What do you do?

>Seriously propose to hold a team meeting at 4 AM.
>Tell Vera that you don’t need everyone for a pre-briefing.

We're not tired anymore
Why should we go back to sleep?
We need to wake Matilda up, for some more "training" and a shower
This is the only chance we have at beating her at a physical match, we'll gain her respect, I swear, this is the only reason I'm saying this, really

“You’re right. I don’t know what I was thinking. We’ll do it after school today.” You come to your senses.

“A-Am I?” Vera didn’t expect you to agree this easily. “O-Of course, I’m right! Now I want you under those sheets, be as comfortable as you possibly can be, and have a beautiful night’s sleep, you hear me? You deserve it, you lovely, lovely man.” Vera is overjoyed by you agreeing!

“You too, Vera. I’ll see you tomorrow!” You wave at your phone for no reason.

“Is everything alright, honey?” A playful Wilma asks through the door as she notices that you aren’t in bed. She’s still in bed.

“Don’t worry, I’m just on the phone.” You tell your wife.

“…Wait, who is th—” Vera ends the call accidentally without thinking. You’re glad you didn’t have to explain.

“I’ll be back in a sec.” You put your phone away and walk back inside the room. Wilma opens the bedsheets to welcome you back into the cuddling-hood.

“Do you have any idea who is singing?” Wilma seems to have restored her energy as well thanks to the music.

“None. I have suspects though.” You raise an eyebrow as you join her in bed.

“If you’re thinking it’s Edony, I assure you she isn’t a particularly talented singer...” Wilma sounds traumatized. You can feel it, it was a bad New Year’s party.

“I don’t think it’s Odetta either…” You assume it’s Fiora now. Or someone who you haven’t met yet. “But honestly, all I can think of doing is going back to sleep…” You yawn.

“…Right, the melody makes it difficult to be awake.” Wilma rubs one eye. She’s as tired as you are. “Night, Honey…”

“Night, apple pie.” You smile back as you place your head on the pillow.

Focusing on resting is the best strategy, you have a lot of work to do tomorrow, and you need to salvage all the strength that you can. It was easy to return to the realm of slumber…

Eyes are back open! It’s time to face a new day now that it is morning! There’s a big downside, you can’t move. Like, this is the closest you’ll be to feeling paralyzed. It’s not the first time you have ever felt unmovable, all the hospital stays can attest to this, but that was due to pain – this is like having sleep paralysis. Well, you can talk, and move… albeit really slowly to the point of being a sloth.

Now, if you’re wondering why you are awake this time, the reason is that Matilda is urging you to go to school. You’ll probably be late no matter what, this hostel is not close by.

“Come on, you two sleepyheads, we have to move.” Matilda gently urges you two to be awake.

“I can’t move.” You state. At some point, so much effort was going to bite you in the ass.

“…I can’t move either.” Wilma admits as well. She lost all the pudding weight, of course she can’t.

Matilda tries to straighten you to sit up on the bed, but you collapse immediately. She tries to do the same with Wilma, and she drops her like a puppet too.

“I-It appears neither of you are joking. Perhaps, we went overboard last night.” Matilda crosses her arms. “I’ll admit I have a little bit of a headache.”

“Don’t worry, girls. I have an idea.” You slowly move your hand to adjust your glasses. It takes you 40 times longer than normal.

“Good.” Matilda collapses on the bed alongside you two. “Let us hear it.”

If your idea depended on Matilda being at 100%, you’re screwed. Remember to be sensible, there’s no need to keep overextending…

“Get me an energy drink and I’ll be good to go.” You go with the ‘underprepared college student’ plan to survive classes.

“One for me as well!” Wilma believes this is a good idea.

“Energy drinks? That’s your solution?” Matilda is a non-believer.

“I’m not joking around, sweetie pie.” You retort.

“What did you just call me…?” Matilda opens her eyes wide.

“Honey called you Sweetie Pie, Sweetie Pie!” Wilma explains.

“Apple pie is right, Sweetie Pie! That’s what I said!” You support the tomato!

“W-Where do these nicknames come from…?” Matilda feels like she didn’t get the memo. “Regardless, refrain from alluding to what happened publicly, directly or indirectly. There’s no need to change our dynamics… just yet.” This spicy lady has bad intentions.

“What do you mean?” You’re curious.

“Commitment, Johnny. What else? Nobody knows better than I what kind of man you are. We fooled around with no strings attached. And I must admit I’d be in favor of continuing, but you can’t keep up right now...” Matilda won’t get lovey-dovey unless you take things to the next level. Who would’ve known she’s the romantic type? She does love getting kinky still though, you have awoken something in her that only you’re capable of satisfying…

“She’s right, it’d be so much better if I had you all alone for me…” Wilma agrees in one respect, her greedy tomato eyes want to capture you. Her tomato lust cannot be quenched! To the surprise of no one, threesomes aren’t exactly romantic. More news at 11.

“And I reiterate: you’re useless now.” Matilda pokes your tired head to prove her point.

“Don’t do that.” You frown. You can do math. You’re still useful.

“I’ll get your dumb drinks then.” Matilda walks away with one mission.

You’re left with Wilma. Neither of you can do much physically.

“…I’m still going to call you Honey.” Wilma jokes.

“And I’m still going to call you Pudding Head!” You smile back. Wilma didn’t expect that! She expected Apple Pie! To be honest, she can’t be an apple and a tomato at the same time…

A couple of minutes later, Matilda arrives with the drinks. It tastes like sugary battery acid, it’s awful, but you feel energized! What can you accomplish now? Nothing. Almost nothing changes. Relatively speaking, you can walk now, from sloth to granny, basically. It’s… something.

At some point, Odetta and Fiora snuck inside to see you two be useless.

“Not so funny now, eh?!” Odetta keeps poking your defenseless face as retaliation from yesterday. You deserve this.

“Quit it.” Fiora makes her stop the moment the ghost goes overboard.

“And well, as you can see, we can move for unknown reasons. So, as the leader of this triumvirate, I must request the use of your buffalo for transportation.” You request to the witch. The beast is capable of taking you all home.

“Please, Fiora. It’s the only way we can return home.” The immobile Wilma acts like a supportive wife.

“…We literally never discussed this before.” Matilda has no idea when this became a thing.

“Hey, I reserved a spot on that buffalo.” Odetta won’t give up her accommodations for you.

“The buffalo? I suppose we can all ride it together, if we ask nicely.” Fiora didn’t expect the buffalo to come into play. “He must feel indebted to me after I helped him with his tantrum last night.”

“Thank you, Fiora. You rule!” You feel like she’s finally acting like a proper Kobashi! Wilma does some tiny claps of joy. “Can he take me to school too?”

“Absolutely.” Fiora giggles. She likes your child-like enthusiasm. “Be sure to tell him to return here after he’s done. I’ll rent a nearby place. So, if anyone decides to revisit the mountain, feel free to contact me.”

“You’re the mountain witch type, huh?” Odetta isn’t surprised by this.

“I’ll take you up on that offer!” Wilma smiles.

“Me too!” You smile as well.

“We have much to discuss.” Fiora clasps her hands. “Here, a present.” She pulls some dark clothes for both of you from thin air, in the same way she made the bouquets appear at the cemetery. “We’ll embark when you’re ready.”

“I’ll get them ready.” Matilda doesn’t want to arrive that late to school.

After that, as everyone was about to leave, the Innkeeper offered to take you to the nearby Bus Stop in exchange for some gossiping. Her offer was vehemently refused. Instead, you ride the buffalo back to the dojo. There, everyone went their way. Matilda and Wilma are staying here, Fiora and Odetta will ride the Buffalo back to the hotel, and you will return to your apartment to get ready (Suan De is on her way to pick you up.) Logistics-wise, the Buffalo should arrive at your apartment once you’re done with your preparations.

Back in your apartment, it’s you, Suan De, and Ichie. Ruby already left for work, but not without leaving you breakfast to eat. It was fine, better than normal. At that moment, you let them know of your intentions to go to school on the Buffalo. Both reacted diametrically differently: Ichie praised your desire to be educated despite the school system not being sufficient for any life betterment! While Suan De called you idiotic and urged you to relax at home since you’re exhausted, you won’t arrive on time either way. Being firm with your decision only sparked a different discussion. For some reason, only one of them can accompany you to school.

Ichie believes she should be the one. She’s young, talented, and won’t stand out due to being a similar age to you. (Shouldn’t she go to her own school?)

Suan De believes it’s her responsibility to ensure you’re safe. And she wants to ride the buffalo. What a weirdo.

Bradford Jr. meows.

For some reason, you have the odd feeling that they’re going to accompany you to classes as well…

What do you do?

As the seasoned politician in the room, you work out a deal that nobody wanted but everyone agreed to. Ichie will be the one assisting you, but both will ride the buffalo to school, Suan De can stay around to wait for the team briefing after school.

To have a believable cover, Ichie will wear your school uniform. Not your actual uniform like Ruby, but one of Nariko’s that she left here.

“Now I can perfectly blend into that impoverished environment! Isn’t this exciting?” Ichie shows off the uniform.

“Not in the slightest.” Suan De won’t play along, going to school will never be fun.

“Oh! Perhaps you’re right! I’m far too presentable!” Ichie removes her hairpin, pulls half of her shirt out of her skirt, and opens one of the buttons to achieve a messy look. “How do I look now?”

“The same.” Suan De decides to mess with your new hobo.

“Woah! You can’t tell the difference? Is decency so alien to you? I have much to learn.” Ichie feels like this was a step in the right direction.

“Please, take me to school. There’s no time to waste.” You plea, immobile as you are.

“Yes, sir!” Ichie is ready!

“You’ll arrive safely.” Suan De carries you to the buffalo. Ichie follows!

As predictable as it is, you all arrived late, you saw the bunch of kids (Trent, Bruna, Gwendolyne, and others) from last time crossing to the promised land, but you and Ichie utterly failed. The gate closed. Nobody saw your triumphant arrival on the mythical animal but the street randos on the way, there were lots, but it’d be much better if people who knew you saw this. The only major positive is that Suan De enjoyed the ride, both girls did, but mainly the assassin.

You need to get inside the building, you can’t afford to skip classes at this stage!

What do you do?

>Turn invisible and sneak inside the building with Ichie. You’re going to classes whether they like it or not.

“We didn’t make it on time.” Suan De becomes captain obvious for a moment.

“Arriving late? This is the true delinquent experience!” Ichie loves her poverty touring.

“Moo…” The Buffalo is a little disappointed in himself. He thought you’d arrive on time despite it all.

“Don’t worry, my good friend. I have an idea.” You encourage the animal with a pat. “I’ll need everyone’s strength for this.”

“Moo?” The Buffalo will jump at a chance for redemption. He doesn’t know how literal this will be for him.

“What are you scheming?” Suan De is as skeptical as ever.

“The Buffalo will jump over the gate, our partners will help both with the height and with softening the landing.” You’d adjust your glasses… if you could. “We need to be cautious. And it’ll help Ichie learn how to use her entity.” This is totally for dramatic effect. Nariko’s influence is growing.

“W-We’re going to sneak in?! This is truly the premium delinquent experience!” Ichie cannot be happier as she brings out her cat entity.

“Moooo!” The Buffalo gets ready for your signal.

“…Brace yourselves.” If there’s one thing that Suan De has learned under your care it’s that arguing is pointless. She’s in more for the thrills than for the nonsense though. You see a scaly hand come out of her. Her partner is far too big to be fully invoked.

“Go!” You give the signal! Philonune is out as well! You’re tired! Why are you doing this?!

“MOO!!!” The Buffalo charges forward!

The wild animal launches over the gate with ease thanks to the help of the trio of entities who merely push him upwards! Obviously, the buffalo couldn’t control the height, so the landing is up to you three. With the strength of mind, you three soften the fall to land perfectly in the middle of the main gate and the main door of the school.

“We did it!” Ichie celebrates despite doing almost nothing to help. She truly has no clue what her entity does.

“It’s not our first rough landing.” Suan De half-jokes.

“Good job, team.” You’re proud of the effort. The Buffalo agrees with a cheerful cry.

What the fuck?” As fashionably late as always, Trent is one of the few peeps who watches this unfold.

“Woah! Look! A Vegetable Cow!” Bruna, who was in launching position, says awestruck. Seems like Trent is bringing her along instead of throwing her.

“Mr. Ando?! Is that you?! What’s going on?!” Nina is here too for some reason, you almost landed on her! She’s late too! What a bad example she’s giving!

This is due an explanation…

For some reason, you feel like everyone is watching, like way more people than what is around you… Everyone is too in shock to say anything yet.

“Huh, I’ll explain after I park my buffalo.” You casually postpone this conversation. “Also, I need to talk to you in private.”

“……..” It’s dawning on Nina how ridiculous this situation is. She’s staring directly at the buffalo’s eyes.

“He’s probably the smartest buffalo in the universe, so he doesn’t bite unless you provoke him.” You pat your buddy as slowly as you move.

“Moo!” The friendly Buffalo looks affable towards the teacher with a similar hairstyle.

“Seriously, don’t provoke him.” You stress.

“Moo…” The Buffalo gives her a confident look. Nina tries not to flinch.

…He’s anything but dangerous.” Suan De mutters under her breath, confused as to why you’re warning your teacher.

Wild animals are unpredictable, miss.” Ichie whispers back.

“Well then, please, park your buffalo as soon as possible, Mr. Ando. I’ll be available to listen to your explanation any time.” Nina stands up and scratches the animal under the chin as she seemingly goes along with this. She loves animals. “…You don’t park animals, Mr. Ando! What are you talking about?!!!

At that moment, it became clear to everyone that this wild animal isn’t an illusion but the real thing, and Nina’s hysterics drew everyone’s attention to it. From within the building, looking through the windows, or the ones walking towards the main entrance, the students’ reactions vary, from disbelief to confusion to astonishment; all chatter and noise are concentrated on your group. You’re the center of attention. And the buffalo is the main star.

Amidst the noise, you can hear the people you know commenting on this…

“…….” Gwendolyne rubs her eyes in disbelief. She’s probably the 2nd closest person to what’s happening. “Yeah, I finally lost it...” She walks inside the building.

“I-Is that Johnny?! Our boss?! What?!” Henry can’t believe his eyes.

“This is crazy! If the former president was here, he’d be losing his mind.” Soh Futaki is fairly impressed.

“Wow! That Buffalo can get some height!” George laughs. He’s one of the few lucky people who saw it all from the beginning.

“What did I miss?! Why is everyone looking through the window?” Scarlet didn’t catch any of this.

“Beats me. Hahaha!” Terry casually dismisses the commotion.

“There’s a hairy cow outside, you dumbasses! Look!” Sammi wants them to pay attention.

“It’s a buffalo, Sammi!” The former Purple Rose student council president Duncan informs.

“What’s my god-forsaken daughter doing…?” Mr. Rodenhall facepalms as he feels ashamed of his daughter riding the buffalo.

“How can someone look so gallant doing something so stupid, Liu?! How can this be?!!!” Vera hates herself for loving you.

“I think he looks cute more than anything else…” Liu recorded everything on her phone.

“Nariko! Look! It’s one of Nina’s cousins!” The future Student Council President Yu Yan tells her right-hand woman as she points at the buffalo.

“There’s no way Nina is related to Saionji, Yu Yan! She’s a nice woman with dignity!” Nariko completely misses the joke as she appears to dislike your newest hobo.

“Not sure about that, Nariko. Not sure about that...” Yu Yan chuckles.

“…I should never ever leave this man alone when he’s tired.” Matilda feels guilty. She knew this could happen.

“Buffalo shirts! We need to start making buffalo shirts! NOW!” The Johnny Fan Club girls have a new apparel strategy!

You return to your reality. You haven’t gotten this much attention in school since Blake tried to kill you. Use it wisely.

“Mr. Ando, I demand a mathematically sound explanation for this!” Principal Conti is the last one to appear. “In my office!”

Huh, you thought the Nina part would be the most difficult bit…

What do you do?

“You shouldn’t threaten a man with a buffalo, sir.” You remind your principal of the true power dynamics behind this confrontation.

Incredible, no hesitation to challenge authority!” Ichie has confirmed all her preconceived notions. She and Suan De are peeking through the buffalo’s luxurious hair, hiding from view.

I pray Conti doesn’t notice me.” Suan De seems to dislike the principal. Is there one person on this planet who doesn’t hate this man?

“A-Are you leveraging this wild animal against me, Mr. Ando?! This isn’t the sound move you foolishly think it is.” Conti is willing to stand his ground. It’s strangely brave of him. “If you don’t come to my office, I’m afraid I’ll have to take matters into my own hands…” He pulls his sleeves up.

Suan De and Ichie share a look, they think Conti wants to wrestle the buffalo. You don’t want your furry friend to be hurt, so you’ll act accordingly.

“Sir, don’t do anything dangerous.” You are a little concerned this could escalate in ways you aren’t comfortable with.

“Me? Don’t be ridiculous. I have subordinates under my command.” Mr. Conti chuckles at the notion. “Ms. Uccelli, restrain him.”

…Me?!” Nina is in shock. “I-I can’t deal with this! Are you out of your mind?! No, sir! I’m leaving…!” The curvy teacher crawls away towards the main door and pretends she was never personally involved in this event. This is the best action for her interests.

Gah! A-Abandoned so easily…!” Mr. Conti feels cornered. “Y-You wouldn’t hurt a fellow poker player, would you, Mr. Ando? You must’ve gone through grueling training in the woods if you were capable of finding the treasure AND taming a buffalo. I implore you, remember your humanity! Come to my office! It’s not too late to drift away from the path of savagery!”

This man is a moron.” Suan De really hates his guts.

Such ineffectual individuals rise to positions that children depend on? No wonder the world is in a state of perpetual peril!” Ichie doesn’t like this at all either.

…You’re wondering what is even going on anymore, the deck is stacked in your favor though. All eyes are on you.

What do you do?

>“It’s not against the rules to ride your buffalo to school, sir. I don’t have to go to your office.” Refuse to go to detention or anything like that. You arrived just in time.

>“I’ll be honest, I think I went overboard with all of this and I don’t know how to get out of this situation.” Be candid! Mr. Conti will understand. He doesn’t have any other option.

“It’s not against the rules to ride your buffalo to school, sir. I don’t have to go to your office.” You declare as an illustrious gentleman.

“Oh yeah? Not against the rules? Let’s see what the police have to say about this!” Conti pulls out his phone and dials the police. “Yes, this is the principal of Green Foothill, his Excellency Robert Conti, this is an emergency of the highest order! A no-good delinquent brought a buffalo to school and— t-they hung up?! W-What…?!”

“Hey, he’s my ride back home, don’t call animal control.” You wiggle your finger very slowly. “Or else…” You brandish your majestic buffalo.

G-Gaaah! Keep that beast away from me! T-This isn’t over, Mr. Andooo!!!” Conti runs to the school to find shelter like a discount cartoon villain! His life is safe but not his reputation. He never had any before, but things can get worse. Not that it will shift dramatically.

Either way, the commotion doesn’t stop, in fact, it reaches a new high with derisive mockery towards the principal or plain laughter at how ridiculous the entire situation was. To some, perhaps it was a nervous reaction though, but you can’t tell.

As a good showman, the Buffalo smiled at his crowd of supporters, who cheered him on back. It seems the animal ended up being the more popular of you two. Part of you is glad you didn’t get everyone’s attention. Anyway, Conti’s escape wasn’t just a goofy retreat, but also a strategic move to order people to open the main gate for your furry friend. The thing is, some late students were arriving and couldn’t believe their luck to see the main gate wide open, their jubilation was cut short once they realized that there’s a buffalo inside – and ended up running away for their lives.

With the reins handed over to Suan De, the buffalo says goodbye to you, Ichie, and his fanatics. What a good lad.

Ichie carries you inside like you’re her camping backpack, she must be in great shape to not break a sweat. Is this how Wilma usually feels? Anyway, you tell her where your classroom is, and she obediently follows your instructions. She’s category G for Good Girl.

Inside the classroom, you are left to your own devices, as you’re placed at your desk and Ichie has to fill a random seat. The dwindling number of students due to Judgement Day has left empty places despite the two schools merging, not one nearby you. Well, you expect Ichie to have fun with the classes. The former Janitor turned teacher couldn’t give less of a damn to confront the buffalo kid or his buffalo friend. So from that point onwards, classes went as normal…

Your breaks were saddled by students from around the school wanting to talk to you about what happened earlier in the morning. Hell, you almost got interviewed by the school’s newspaper! You have one of those! You had no idea! Sadly, due to the chaos and pushiness of those who participated, you did little to nothing. None of your friends were capable of breaking through the crowd. Not Ichie, Matilda, or Vera could. People are too rowdy.

Lunch is rapidly approaching… Since you can’t move (or at least move sluggishly), you depend on your friends to feed you. Can’t do much on your own, so you’ll have to plan ahead.

What do you do?

>All you have to do now is to wait for the Team Briefing after school, so focus on surviving and let time pass.
>You admit it, you can’t keep going on like this. Stay at the infirmary for the rest of the day.
>Perhaps you can have that meeting with Nina during lunch, you’ll figure out the Trent stuff and explain the buffalo.

What isn’t great or exciting about slowly texting someone during class? It’s the only way you can communicate to arrange the meeting beforehand! And that’s what you do to tell Nina it’s time for the buffalo to be explained. It’s the perfect bait to force the teacher to talk to you 1-on-1 as soon as possible. And like if you were a piece of cake, she bites! All you gotta do now is wait for lunchtime.

The moment arrives. Luckily, food is a popularity deterrent, the people are hungry! You have space to breathe and no time to waste. You must go to the teacher’s office to find her. For some reason, you decided not to disclose the fact that you’re as slow as a snail. So, you go…! And go… And go…

Your new loyal hobo brought a Hand Truck to transport you! Philonune finds it an insult, a poor imitation of the mighty wheelchair, you feel like he needs a different character trait to latch on. Ichie takes you to the Teacher’s Office like a disgraced celebrity statue. To say you attracted looks would be an understatement, at some point, you decided to stay frozen like an actual statue and didn’t blink to confuse more people. This is the only way you found to save face. Matilda saw you once again and continued to deeply regret letting you be tired in public. Members of the Fanclub demanded to seize your state, but you were right outside the faculty, so they couldn’t push the issue and Ichie ignored them.

“…Why are you on a dolly?” Nina is flabbergasted to the point of wondering about her life choice.

“The school needs more wheelchairs.” You didn’t check the infirmary to justify saying something like this, but you said it anyway.

“You’re hurt?!” Nina is worried. The other teachers try to ignore her shrieking. Noticing the awkwardness, the fluffy teacher closes the door behind her. You’re all in the hallway, there are barely any people around.

“Nope, tired.” You admit.

“The anxiety of poverty, miss.” Ichie looks down. “Can I trust you with his safety?”

“Of course you can! Nina is one of the most reliable people I know!” You reassure.

“Well then! Go on with your secret meeting, I’ll be in the fields catching my meal!” Ichie runs away believing this is how poor people find food.

“D-Don’t go eat garbage! There’s a cafeteria below…! ” You try to tell your new hobo, then sigh. “Uhm, I can’t be too harsh with her, she’s learning the ropes.” You’d shrug, but it could take a while to do so.

“………………………” Ms. Uccelli is losing her mind in silence.

“Are you okay?” You ask as you slowly wave your hand over her eyes.

“…I’m contemplating life and my place in it.” Nina is not okay. Her sanity has suffered irreparable damage, at least her self-esteem is intact!

“I bet you have questions.” You wiggle your eyebrows in slow motion.
>>
>>6091615

“Plenty.” Nina didn’t hesitate for a second.

“Good, because the time to talk has arrived.” You’re so ready.

…If you weren’t hungry. It’s lunch time after all.

What do you do?

“Talk over lunch, of course. At a more private location as well.” You clarify.

“Do you want me to wheel you around like this…?” Your perturbed teacher looks at your steel limbs.

“And share your food too, please.” You’re certain that she brought enough food for two or even three people! Too bad Ichie left…

“……….Give me a sec, I’ll go get my lunch box.” Nina absentmindedly goes back into the teacher’s office for her stuff. This entire day must’ve been quite a shock for her.

You look through the window as you wait, the beautiful native toucan rests on the tree outside, a leaf flies off through the sky pushed by the breeze – the summer vibes are rapidly approaching.

“Let’s see, I’m going to…” Nina returns with her lunch box in hand, she hesitates for a moment before placing it over your feet. She assumes you can’t hold it. “There you go. Now, um, how do I do this?” She doesn’t know how to push the dolly without making you fall off.

“Just angle it towards you. Try not to go overboard.” You instruct.

“Like this?” Nina grabs the handles and slowly follows your instructions.

“Exactly!” You cheer your teacher with the roles reversed momentarily!

“You’re heavier than I thought.” Nina admits. “I shouldn’t carry you far away.”

“Oh, yeah, I gained some muscle mass.” You slowly wiggle your eyebrows.

“That’s great to hear. Is that why you’re depleted?” Nina makes the connection. The concern from before is wearing off.

“E-yup!” You nod.

“You don’t have to push yourself this much. I’m still here to help you.” Nina believes you’re going through some grueling training to save the world.

“That’s why I’m here.” You smirk. Nina liked that answer.

Nina brings you to the specialized Home Economics Classroom since it’s often empty. She arranges everything on the table for lunch. Your teacher puts your needs over hers by focusing on feeding you until you’re full since you can’t do it on your own.

“It’s delicious, Nina! I love it!” You’re a liar. It’s just fine for your hefty standards. But no one will know that… ever! You do like the tea though.

“You know me, it’s always homemade!” Nina loves having her food praised. One compliment was all you needed to break her shell-shocked exterior! She dances in place without thinking out of joy. “Now it’s my turn to chow down.”

“While you do what you do best, I need to bring this up.” You bring some gravity to the conversation. “It’s about Trent. He wants you to ease up a little, you know? To be a little more chill.”

“Chill? In what way? I tried a more casual approach and could tell he wasn’t fond of it.” Nina doesn’t fully understand. She really tried to be friendly, it kinda breaks your heart…
>>
>>6091712

“He thinks you nag him too much.” You dryly say.

“Johnny. He’s under probation. I’m his supervisor. He needs to build extracurricular credits to have any chance of finishing school properly.” Nina reminds you what your violent friend is going through. “I built him a program that is easy on him. He only needs to show up at school on time – which I had to scrub some records for him already – and attend the Theater Club. He’s a tree, Johnny. He’s getting full credit for acting as a tree.”

Nina feels like she has done more than enough…

[QM Note: The Buffalo stuff will be discussed later in the conversation!]

How do you respond?

>“Maybe we should look into a different club? You know, one he doesn’t hate? Acting as a tree sounds boring as hell.” Find a new one that suits Trent, or maybe create your own.
>“Look, Nina, you’re his supervisor. All you need to do is look the other way. Maybe you can have him help the Motley Crew and act like it is Community Service.” Negotiate like a low-tier gangster would.
>“Let him join the Student Council. Yu Yan will need more members in her cabinet!” Abuse your political influence. Nina has to approve of the change.
>“He’ll have to deal with the consequences of his actions then.” Shrug. Maybe you should help him in a healthier way than abusing the system in his favor.
>“What can this immobile student do to convince this cute teacher to look the other way?” Wiggle your eyebrows. Bribe Nina somehow!

“Hmm, no point in helping him skip the extracurricular work then.” You don’t want to make Nina’s work more difficult, but things can’t continue like this.

“I’m glad you understand. Still, it’s a little upsetting that he’s complaining. He’s doing the bare minimum and can’t deal with it!” Nina starts eating faster due to her annoyance.

“But he can’t continue like this...” You point out.

“I’ve done everything in my power to alleviate his workload.” Nina doesn’t see what else she can do. “If you have any suggestions in mind, please share!”

“Let him join the Student Council. Yu Yan will need more members in her cabinet!” You propose.

“Thank the stars, I thought you were going to suggest for him to help the Motley Crew…” Nina sighs in relief. She doesn’t want to put more of her students in danger. “If he had any interest, he should’ve let me know, I've always been open about him changing clubs.”

“It’s something I assume he’d be into.” You shrug. You like to think you know him a bit.

“You… haven’t talked with him about this?” Nina seems a little concerned now.

“Nina, trust me. He probably finds the Drama Club mind-numbing. Can’t imagine a more boring role than a tree.” You know about that, you were a lamp post once. You’ll never let Odetta know.

“I thought he had the patience to endure it. He enjoys fishing after all.” Nina can be a little silly sometimes.

“Uhm, yeah, those two things aren’t alike at all. For example, he’s usually alone while fishing.” You point out.

“I don’t blame him for being an introvert, but it’s a shame because the Drama Club loves him…” Nina looks a little sad as she continues munching.

“N-Nina, you’re making me feel guilty.” You scratch the back of your head. Maybe you could reprise your role… No, wait, no more sidequests! You need to focus!

“S-Sorry, I didn’t mean to. It’s… something I will deal with.” Nina assures you that everything will be fine. “You talked to Yu Yan about this, right?”

“Of course… not.” You know the smug one will be onboard!

“Nariko is one of the few people who knows how to put Mr. Figg in his place, so I’m not concerned. I’ll suggest it to all parties involved. If you can help convince Mr. Figg that’d be great.” Nina agrees with the idea now that she knows there’s a problem. “Now… I’d like to know about that Buffalo, because of all the things I could think of, I can’t say I ever thought you’d arrive on one.” She has been waiting for this moment the entire time. She’s even downplaying her curiosity.

“Well, it’s a long story…” You will explain the adventures from yesterday, omitting the kinky parts…

You explain all the events that led to the Buffalo, and your concerns about his education! He’s a sentient being who values knowledge and friendship! Animals have rights!

"D-Did you just say that you helped a random bride escape her marriage with millions of dollars by dressing up as the groom, and a 40-something-year-old dressed up as the bride to go along with the ceremony to give her time to escape, and subdue the ire of the groom's billionaire alien family who couldn't bear the humiliation of having said ceremony canceled; then, having succeeded, you and your conspirators went on a fake honeymoon in the mountains, and while they were looking at the stars, some kind of meteor switched everyone's bodies, and one of the bodies was switched with that of a buffalo, and when everyone returned to normal, said buffalo became sentient?! And because you were too tired to move, you decided to ride the buffalo to school to not be late?!" Naturally, Nina is in shock.

“Yeah.” You don’t know why she said everything back to you.

“T-This is pure madness…!” Naturally, Nina continues to be in shock. She’s shoving dessert into her mouth to recover some sanity. You love her funny quirks as long as she doesn’t choke.

What do you do?

“It’s what happened.” You dryly retort.

“…I’m questioning why this can happen.” Nina can’t be on good terms with the reality she lives in.

“That’s fine. Will you help with the buffalo, Nina?” You think you’ve explained enough. “I can ask him to let you ride him!” You slowly wiggle your eyebrows, you’ll bribe her!

“Do you really think I’m qualified to teach a buffalo…?” Nina’s incredulous look that seems forever etched in her face starts breaking down with her concern for the animal.

“I don’t know a better teacher than you.” You tell no lies. If you’re fair, she doesn’t have much competition.

“T-Thank you, but it doesn’t answer my question.” Nina loves compliments no matter what.

“Nina, I hardly doubt there are enough sentient buffaloes for there to be experts out in the world.” You answer this silly question.

“I-I’m sorry, my disbelief makes me ask irrational questions…” Nina facepalms. “And I’ll get to ride it?”

“As long as that’s what you want.” You won’t force anyone to do something they aren’t comfortable with. “Do you want to ride it?”

“Would it be silly if I said yes…?” Nina blushes out of embarrassment.

“Of course not.” You smile. “He wouldn’t be the first student you’d like to ride.” You wiggle your eyebrows.

JOHNNY.” Nina is fully embarrassed now.

“I tease, I tease.” You have a good chuckle.

“You’re such a… Agh sometimes!” Nina tippytaps in place out of frustration. What a sight.

“Sorry, sorry.” You shouldn’t make her mad while you’re immobile.

“You’re not his owner, right…? You mentioned someone else, correct?” Nina recalls from before.

“Yes, Fiora will take care of the buffalo in the long run.” Sadly, you don’t have the space in your apartment, even after it grew.

“Pass me her number. I’ll contact her to see what I can do. I’m not sure if I’ll be his private tutor, but I know we’ll work something out.” Nina’s passion for teaching knows no bounds or species. You do so at a snail pace.

A connection between Fiora and Nina has been made thanks to the Buffalo. You’re certain this relationship will become more important as time goes on.

“Thank you, Nina. I really mean it.” You’re happy for the buffalo.

“I’m here to support you no matter what, just refrain from going on insane little adventures if you can.” Nina loved hearing about it though, she’s a sea of contradictions. “Well, Johnny, there are two topics I’d love to talk about, but we only have time for one.” Nina checks her clock. “One is about Kata, and the other is about Richard…”

But before you can even delve into one, this is all the time we have for this thread! Thanks for playing, and see you next time!
