You walk out on to the balcony to see two titans, roughly 5, maybe 7 miles away locked in an epic battle. They were both Reaver class, and both had apocalypse missile launchers

The chaos titan was black with some sort of trim. It looked bronzeish but it was probably a decayed gold. It had a power claw and a laser blaster

The imperial titan was a bright scarlet with black highlights and brilliant gold trim. One arm was a massive melta cannon and the other was a powerfi- wait... You lean forward... Power-DRILL?

Regardless, they were heading this way, and the assault on the main building was bound to resume soon.

You order the emergency webway gate brought into the main hall, ordering the sisters in the area, via your com, to begin setting up both interior and exterior fortifications.

You had two choices. You could summon the eldar reinforcements now or later. Summoning them now would give you time to brief them on the situation, but calling them later would mean you could better taylor the units that you receive according to the enemy unit choices and the sisters who are still alive.

    >>12719632

What your rolling for is to get your units now or later. its not a matter of if the sisters can handle it. its a matter of unit balance. if you wait you can taylor your army but the army will be less informed and could be taken by surprise. If you get them now you can brief them and they will be more effective but the choices wont be taylored.

Alright, our sisters are pretty damn shooty, at the moment
We've got Farseer Rowdan and her warp spiders to cover the psyker aspects
I'd say we go with Eldar Rangers in the high balustrades and crevices and towers andmurderholes a place like this will most defiantly have
The maze like opulencfe of the cathedral would also lend itself to Warpspiders and their form of aggressive defence as well
Dire avengers, just cause they're flexible
And striking Scorpions to round us out on close combat and Melee

    Bump.
If we can get more than 1 unit of each type we should focus on the melee aspects. Banshee + Scorpions cover that, right? Banshees are good vs heavy infantry and Scorpions vs light infantry, correct?
As our troops are properly armoured and traitor guard shouldn't be able to do much damage to them in close quarters without vehicle support, I'd propose to call for more Banshees than Scorpions (More waifu material as well).

Also, I'm off to university for the next few hours.

    I second this
The sisters and their storm bolters should separate the traitor guards from the more heavily armored opponents like wheat from chaff
When it comes to Heavy armor, where it will count, should be Banshees
So, yeah, ratio of Banshees to Scorpions should be in favor of Banshees

It was Florencia who replied, her voice not entirely clear but understandable.

"Dammit Inqusitor! I'm insulted!" You heard a loud crack and squealch as she crushed some poor creature's skull with her massive hammer. "To think that I'd die to a petty band of Chaos Marines and daemons!"

You heard another crunch and a wet gurgling sound. Galatea's voice came over the radio. "Florencia! Found you at last! My radio is down, but the other squads are falling back to the inner ring so we can concentrate our firepower more and to get out of the way of those titans!"

Florencia addressed you again "We're heading your way Inqusitor! There won't be any areas of dead communication with everyone so close together. Status reports should be coming in soon. Over and out!"

The radio cut off but not before you hear another crash of the thunderhammer and the distinct mechanical whirr of Galatea's powerfist as she crushed a heretic's skull.

Sure enough, about a minute later, reports began coming in. Casualties were extremely high, but the enemy's losses had to be three times that much. Long range communication reports reveal that the other cities are not doing nearly as well as this one, especially since there were a handful of other titans scattered about on the surface. You manage to get in contact with Sonja and Verity, despite the constant radio chatter, and switch frequencies.

They both agree to return to the center, Sonja first going to find Tessa and Elizabeth before returning so she could be awhile.

You were about to breathe a sigh of relief when you heard a voice. "Quizzy!" It was Filigree. She was in the hallway leading to the roof.

You make your way over to her. she had attached the lash high on her right arm, the tentacles spilling out where her pauldron used to be. It had caused a problem, however. Spreading like a bruise or rash from the area of embedment was a haze of purple. The lash had restored her lavender skin tone from her wrist to partway up her cheek.

The lash itself was gently holding her lightning claws.

"The claws will cover most of my arm, but not my face. The eldar will shoot me on sight looking like this..."

Don't we have some make-up to cover the pink colouring? We're a female inquisitor and surrouned by Sisters of Battle, there must be some. If not, simply smear some blood/grime on Filigree's face. There has to be more than enough of that given all the fighting. Boot polish should do in a pinch, and as a military operation if everything else fails, we should be able to get some of that.

Farseer Rowdan- can you spare me a moment?
Thank you- I appreciate this. As I’ve said before, my field of expertise lies outside the ordo xeno, so I’m only haltingly familiar with you and yours practices and cultural taboos. However, I can guess that, for the most part, you’re still holding a bit of a grudge against chaos in general, and Slaanesh in particular, about that whole “Destruction of the old empire in an orgy of decadence and soul eating,” thing. Am I right?
So, it’s safe to assume you’re probably not very likely to trust someone who openly employs deamons or deamon weapons. Am I right?
Well, I’m going to ask you that you give me the benefit of the doubt here.
My acolyte, Filigree, in case you haven’t noticed is, well, a bit of a risk taker- necessary in my line of work, but unfortunately rather likely to cause premature death do to blamming. Anyway, in the last battle, you saw the whip that thing was using- Filigree, for reasons that continue to escape, decided it would be a good idea for her to take the lash for herself and try to incorporate it in her armor. Which has worked, as far as I can tell- she seems to be in full psykic control and her willpower is intatct.
However, there have been a few side effects- dysphaseasi, random bouts of giggling, change in skin pigmentation, irritable bowels, etc., etc., and I’m afraid I’ll have to kill her soon, just to ensure that she doesn’t accidentally fall under chaos’ sway.
For now though, she remains functioning, and has proven extremely adroit with the weapon. In the coming battle, you know as well as I that we’ll need every ally and advantage we can scrape. Not to dance around the point, but do you think you could see to it to let Filigree into the battle under my control, and to tell your troops not to kill her on sight?

"Peace Sister Anna- we're all on the same side here, remember that. For the moment, at least. Filigree is just curious about the the different kinds of ammunitions- I myself like to use psycanon ammunition, psykically charged silver tipped rounds inscribed with holy runes, myself. It'll cut through any psykic shielding like butter, and will spread a deamonette like jelly, just simply smearing it across a wall- so you can see why my line of work calls for it.
Inferno rounds are designed to immolate their targets and destroy them with superheated chemical fire, and, as such, are always preferred when it comes to burning the heretical.
There are others of course, storm frag, kraken penetrators, hellfire, stalker- each designed with a specific target in mind- but I doubt we'll be able to find any of those around here, and that they'd be of limited use anyway.

give me a bit to recap everything cruicial.

what sucks is we lost character development and quite a few subtle hints.

You decide to use the portal early. This means you can not taylor the units against the incoming enemy, but it means they have time to learn the layout and situation before they begin fighting. You let Farseer Rodwen activate the portal. The squads you get are Howling Banshees, Striking Scorpions, Fire Dragons, Rangers, Warpspiders, Harliquins, Bonesingers, and Dire Avengers. You order several sisters to show the bonesingers around so they may help fortify the building and then hopefully repair some armor

    These happen:
    >>12734216
    >>12734213

You tell Filigree to stay in the stairwell, talking to the Farseer about her condition, claiming you will blam her once the battles are over. The Farseer, struggling to keep from killing you with her brain, instead warns you to keep Filigree away from her and her squads, also warning that the weapon has a very subtle influence and that this decision will probably kill you in the end.

She storms off after declining your offer for a cigar. You go back to Filigree and let her out, observing the lash only has three barbs left, the other tentacles broken to various degrees from the previous battle with the daemon prince. She doesn't appear to be in any pain and declines your offer for help.

Sister Verity arrives with her medical team and quite a few medical servitors. The servitors are carrying many injured sisters, roughly two squads. Verity's left arm is freshly and heavily bandaged and she immediately goes over to help the injured twin. The sisters who had been previously attending to her currently have nothing to do.

    >Rodwen's eyes narrowed, her shoulders tensing as you continued speaking. She was silent for several minutes after you had finished, a muscle at the corner of her mouth twitching several times.

    >"I trust you mon-keigh..." Her voice had more venom in it than you have heard thus far. "But weapons of She Who Thirsts should never be trusted. The y work into your mind slowly, corrupting you." She glanced at the door Filigree was behind. "Let us hope the battle is short, so she can be eliminated soon."

    >She turned and began to walk back toward the congrigation of Eldar. "Even so, keep her away from my people and I. The moment she snaps she will not attack us." Her sneer turned into a mocking grin. "We will try our best not to shoot you if you are her target.

    >The Farseer waved off the Cigar and went to join her people. You instructed the sisters who weren't tending to the injured twin to show the bonesingers where to reinforce. They reluctantly agreed, leading the eldar off.

    >You check up on Filigree who has made little to no progress. "Can I come out now? " She had put one lightning claw back on and was struggling with the other, even with the help of the lash. "Do I have to wear both? Can I have a gun instead? Guns are fun!"

"Every Sister who has knowledge of this are of the city to me!" Wait until these sisters have arrived.
"As you know, every unit still capable of doing so has fallen back to this location or to the buildings surrounding us. As neither Canoness Florcenia, Galatea nor I have proper knowledge of this area, you'll be required to coordinate the defences with the Sister Superior and the officers of the guard. Sadly, quite a few of you will be required to work with our xenos reinforcements. Rember, this day all of you, human and the despicable xenos, are defending a world only second to Holy Terra itself in importance. If we should fall this day, make sure his Holyness on Terra will hear our last shouts of defiance as we take as many of the wretched servants of chaos with us as possible. But it will not come to this if your preparations are diligent and your faith is pure. One of you'll be reporting to me, the others will be assigned to the various squad leaders. Those who think themselves capable of bearing the close proximity to the xenos will report to me as well. Any questions, remaining?"

    >You asked her about removing the badly damaged tentacles.

    >She shook her head. "The ones that aren't shredded will regenerate. The shredded ones should be carefully cut away or just let shrivel and be pulled off then."

The door behind you opens and you turn to see Verity and her very large medical team rush in. The hospitaller herself looked worse for wear, her left arm freshly bandaged, several spots already bleeding through.

The team itself was accompanied by tons of servitors, many functioning as stretchers or portable medical equipment, and many were already occupied. She must have brought in the equivalent of two squads of battle sisters and a half a squad of guardsmen.

Verity walked straight toward the injured twin, not even sparing Filigree a second glance as she stormed past, the boxy medical implant on her humming to life. After shooing everyone away from the twin with some very colorful high gothic, she and several of her team got to work.

In mathematics, the Kronecker delta or Kronecker's delta, named after Leopold Kronecker (1823-1891), is a function of two variables, usually integers, which is 1 if they are equal and 0 otherwise. So, for example,
    δ1,2 = 0, but
    δ3,3 = 1
It is written as the symbol δij, and treated as a notational shorthand rather than as a function.

-Rowden might be building up to a classical "You s-stupid inquisitor it... it is not as if I like you or anything" episode but otherwise we need to show her that she's trusted and valued.
-Having Tybalt guard the sisters from attack or alert them on any traitors between their patients should be good. You can never be too careful around the wounded with nurgle pulling some strings.
-The guardsmen, if from a reasonable planet (Krieg? Generic trench warfare world Europeanus Guerrus Mundis Prime?) should be superior to the Sisters in construction makeshift fortifications.
-If the confessor we met when landing planetside is still alive, have him hold services for our soldiers as we prepare for the next attack.

The sisters stand at attention, listening the entire time. Your talk of the emperor and faith seems to rekindle them. When you finish speaking, they respond with a loud "Ave Imperator" and march off, radioing other sisters, tending to the wounded, or going to debrief the eldar.

Tybalt limps over to you, tail wagging weakly. His thick armor had saved him from being destroyed, but now the ceramite and flexsteel were twisted, hindering his joint movement. You'd have to completely replace his chasis.

You direct him toward Sister Anna who pretends not to be interested for a few seconds before the cyber mastiff's constant whining melted her will. She sank to her knees, petting the metallic dog, a small smile on her face.

You felt something bump against your side. It was Filigree. She was leaning sideways against you, jealous of how easily Tybalt got attention.

Almost immediately the window nearest you shattered, sending glass and a huge object bouncing across the room. It was Evangela!

A loud thunk followed as a Lord of Change landed on the window sill and moved inside. He was immediately followed by a Chaos Raptor in black armor and milky white eyes and a mouth full of jagged sharp teeth.

There's this little voice inside of me that is convinced that we won't get a happy ending out of this.

Mainly due to us being soul bound to filigree, when we die, we are her plaything for eternity. For all we know, the reason she is acting cute is to disuade us from trying to find a means to save our soul, I mean, how many lesser daemons do you think get a guaranteed soul?
Most daemons that are bound are powerful, as that is what most daemon summoners are interested in thus, most souls that are damned are either bound to a powerfull daemon, or generally damned in which case all daemons can get at it. What we have here is a minor daemon that, through a stroke of luck, has had an inquisitor bind themselves to her. When we die she is no longer restricted from harming us, and she can do anything she wants without us being able to stop her, she will be very much in control.
And don't forget she is daemon, a creature known to be manipulative. Would like to be wrong on this, a good end would be nice after all :Þ

Well for one thing there must be other radical inquisitors who know means and methods of undoing the soul-binding, hopefully at least.
Another idea would be to bind ourselves to something more powerful, though depending on what we pick, this could be worse.
The eldar use spirit stones to trap there souls so that slaanesh does not consume them, there may be a way for us to emulate this.
We could also see if we can find a means of destroying our soul upon death, better that than eternal torment.

My last idea depends on whether or not filigree can claim our soul whilst still in the materium. If she can't, then all we have to do is trap her permanatly in the materium. Easiest method? Encase her in plascrete and stick her on an asteroid in the middle of nowhere, complete sensory deprivation, and she can't die. Problem solved.

Filigree growled, her grip on the raptor tightening, making him scream and laugh at the same time as the barbs dug into the gaps in his armor.

"Can't really... ngh... Let go right now..." The lashwip actually seemed to focus the Daemonette more, depleting the marine's strength and increasing her own.

You heard a loud crack and dozens of tiny warp portals opened up all over the room, daemons of Tzeentch raining down upon the sisters.

Immediately, targets switched, several flamers and metas going off, the heat blackening the stone building, but not damaging it too severely. You should keep this fight short though...

You strafe around the raptor, shooting and slashing at his pack. He screams in anger as one of the jets erupts in a ball of fire, burning both the marine and the daemon. Startled, Filigree's grip wavered and he pushed her off, punching her in the unarmored part of her chest hard enough for you to hear her ribs crack, the girl flying across the room, bouncing several times.

By now the daemons of Tzeentch had landed and were attacking the sisters, but the eldar stepped in, acting as a buffer, slaughtering the creatures in close combat as the sisters continued to shoot the newly emerging ones, the farseer and warlocks buffing their troops for speed and cunning.

    While striking down:
"Smite the foe! Smash the enemy! For the Emperor we bring death! From this world we will drive you. And the one after that. We'll crush the eye of terror itself in palm of our hands. We will strike down the halls of your gods in the warp and we will grind each of them between our fingers. The universe will know the will of the Emperor. Tremble! Quake! These are your final hours Chaos spawn. His power will turn the warp itself void! In the name of the Emperor, kill them all."
After killing the raptor, throw hus corpse back through one of the chaos ports. No reason to have him despoil blessed soil. Stow away the special blade he wielded for later use except if it is visibly corrupted.

I plot Filigrees trajectory with my eyes, watching in a mix of dumb found shock and horror as she lands, crumpled, at the base of an ornate pillar.
The raptors unnatural grin widens at my momentary hesistance, taking it as a sign of weakness.
He is wrong- it's just an example of how truly this little snot is going to regret ever being born within the next five minutes.
The chaos worshiper charges- my only movement is to tighten my grip around my force blade, as I imagine just what I'm going to do for hurting Filigree. I'm going to kill him-no, worse. I'm going to rip out his intestines, tie them to a maypole, and make him dance around it! I'M GOING TO CUT OFF HIS HEAD, PRESERVE IT, AND THEN LET TYBALT USE IT TO FORNICATE! I'M-
steady, old girl, bigger fish to fry at the moment. I need this idiot out of commission, so that way I can concentrate on more important things.
I instantly assume a fighting stance and meet the idiots charge- oh rather, duck under it, gracefully moving inside his blades reach as I lash out with my own. Snicker snack-- once, twice, through the joint of the armor jointing around his elbow. Again, on his other arm.
I don't wait for shock to register- at this point I drop my blade, momentarily discarded so I can use both hands to grasp his shoulders, to better guide his pretty face into an introductory meetining with my powered armored knee.
Darn he's bleeding- I don't think first impressions went over that well. Well don't we try again!

The chaos raptor reels back, screeching as your forceblade, blazing with the power of your rage and will, slices clean through his armor, flesh and bone, his sword arm flying from his body.

You miss his other arm and he tries to pistol whip you, bringing the gun up and firing point blank. You duck, the shot searing off one of your pauldrons and does some serious damage to your power pack, but gives you the opening you need to hack off the other arm, jumping through the air and bringing your blade then down on his jump pack completely destroying it.

He goes sprawling forward, groaning faintly as he tries to rise. You put your cigar out in his eye, giving his forehead one last kick, knocking him out.

In addition to the daemons, cultists on disks of Tzeentch were appearing, skimming the heads just above the sisters, swinging flails and axes, taking cheap shots. Several sisters skulls were crushed from the blows, the rest managing to evade.

Evangela was up and about now, flying through the air. Her chainblade screamed and blazed as she sliced through the disks and corrupt humans, her voice echoing through the room as she recited a litany.

The sisters were starting to back up toward Verity's location, their gunfire not enough to suppress the oncoming mob. The hospitaller in question had wheeled the injured twin back against the wall, away from the fight, the other standing in front of her, phase blade out and ready.

Hopefully, when I throw the sword, the changer of ways will end up underneath one of the numerous heavy statues, gargoyles, and embossed carvings that this place is bound to have - I use good old ferric lure on the metal seating of said architectural ornament or, if luck should have it, have the sword end up buried underneath said ornament and causing the old and weak stonework that supports it to crumble.

You contact the medi skull with your mind, commanding it to help Filigree. Immedeately it halts its work on the injured twin, zipping across the battlefield to Filigree's side. The uninjured twin shoots you a hateful look.

You rush at the sword, keeping up your bolter fire. It works quite well, the psybolts shredding through oncoming enemies like paper. You manage to get to the sword easily and take it from the severed limb. You look up, having to dodge back to avoid a cultist's lasgun fire. The air is so filled with disks and cultists that you could never see the greater daemon, even if he wasn't hiding.

You are forced down behind a huge stone urn filled with blessed and scented oils, the enemy's focus still mainly on the sisters.

You hear a loud shout fill the room followed by a crash. You risk a peek. Galatea was standing in the doorway, the chainaxe resting against one shoulder.

"It's rude to start a party before all the guests arrive..."

Florencia walked up next to her. "Indeed it is..."

"Shall we teach them a lesson in manners?"

    "I think we should."

"Exellent!" And with that word Galatea charged forward, her fist and chainaxe carving through the daemons before her like a hot knife through butter.

Florencia had taken off via her jump pack and was swinging the enormous hammer with all her strength, the huge blunt object crushing everything it came into contact with into a bloody pulp.

In from the door poured more sisters, the celestian retinues of both canonesses.

Well, a Tzneetchian is always the last place you'd look for him- which, because of the way things work out is generally the FIRST place you'd look for him but discounted
Should we use a psykic power?

We could try and boil some blood in as many cultists as we can, screw the results.

Raise our arms and boil the blood of an army, eldritch power wrapping around us as we unleash hell upon those who oppose us.

This may be beyond our means, but we never know untill we try and given the instability of the warp, we may be able to push further than usual.

That's a little ambitious- so far we've been doing pretty good with minor things
Unseating the casings of inlaid jewels in a cieling mural to distract a shrieker of Slaanesh, messing with the servos in the power armor of a Deamon Prince
I was kind of hoping there would be some minor psykic power combined with the situation to exploit to our favor

    Wait, I've got it!
You know the peril of the warp that turns off the gravity?
Intentionally invoke it- warn everyone before hand to hold on to something, and keep the duration for only a few seconds
With any luck- the cultists will be left hanging in thin air long enough for their discs to slide out from under them, so that way hey'll be left dangling about thirty to forty feet in the air for a few seconds before we bring reality back into focus and they all plummet to the ground

Finally! Despite the fact that they Galatea hated my guts, and that Florencia will hate my guts (it's inevitable, really) I'm happy to see both of the boisterous zealots have managed to make it through so far in one piece. Well, more or less in Galateas case.
Still, even with the additional forces they're bringing, the chaos flyers are moving too thick and too fast. We'd beat them, of course, but at this rate it would cost us time and resources we couldn't simply afford to spend. Gah, damn their eyes, those annoying twerps- poncing about in the air. They look like they're actually enjoying themselves, breaking the laws of the universe with nothing separating them from the ground except those metallic flesh disks.
Why I remember the first time you experienced weightlessness, was one of the -
I stop, mid reminisce, as an idea strikes my head. Well, while turning off the gravity isn't particulary hard, it's dangerous in that it's very hard to actively control the effects and specifics, such as turning it back on again without blowing your brains out or faceplanting it.
Still- it'd be more then worth a shot. Besides, I've handled worse before in terms of mental strain.
I assume the pstandard psyker pstance and shout, my voice ampliphied through the din of battle by my own presence and several speakers linked to my servodrone and Tybalt "Hold on to something attached to the ground or sturdy, quickly!"

You send the report through the vox bead, the sisters receiving the report through their helmets and their armor speakers. most of them move back holding onto something in the room, or a doorway. The two Canonesses and Living Saint ignore you, however.

You attempt to reverse gravity, one hand clutching at a window sill as everything slowly begins to rise into the air. It's a lot of work, but you successfully disrupt everything in the room.

The Lord of Change screeches in alarm, his taloned hands clutching at the ornate architecture of the ceiling. There is no way you could take a shot at him while focusing.

However, you don't have to. Evangela noticed the daemon and flew toward him at amazing speed. He flapped his wings, trying to escape but the living saint already had momentum. She crashed into him mid air, slamming him against the ceiling, her chainsword cutting off one of his wings. The two floated through the air, fighting viciously, the daemon casting the occasional spell.

I'm not sure, we basically just threw open the flood gates and guided it towards the sort of effect we wanted, I don't think there was much control involved, a lot of willpower and wrestling with it perhaps, but not much control. At least, that's my take on it. I may be wrong.

I don't know- what defines a peril of the warp?
Most of them are unintended side affects that are, in some way or another, negative
Layer of frost appearing on stuff, rain of blood, things like that
I don't think that the phemona itself requires that much willpower, as the psyker can usually create it by accident
Turning off the gravity could actually be quite useful in the right situation (Such as this one) and, since we consciously called it, maybe it won't be that bad?
    >> Alpharius 11/12/10(Fri)01:06 No.12767439
    >>12767414
Thing is, I think this sort of effect is more powerfull than those that we would normally call upon, fall all we know by doing this we have automatically caused ourselves to have another perils of the warp effect. Or you may be right, this is basically telekinesis at a very high level in a way...
I really don't know, it depends what 'His Divine Power' rules.
