    Chap 2 Pt 1: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/12385200/

Chloe stumbled back, covering her mouth to muffle a scream. Fortran had been about to answer your question about the communication arrays when her companion reacted. The twins were about to ask what was wrong when the psyker pointed at Filigree.

"You know its rude to point..."

    "DAEMONETTE!!!

"You have three fingers pointing back at yourself when you do that."

    "KILL IT! SOMEONE! DAEMON!!!"

"So doesn't this make you three times the daemon I am?"

Fortran freezes, staring at Filigree fearfully.

The twins glance at each other and sigh. "Do you want to tell her Delessa?""Or should we?"

"Filigree, these are Chloe - a highly sensitive psyker - and Fortran - as you can see a tech priest of the adeptus mechanicus -."
Point at whoever we're describing at the time.
"Chloe, Fortran, this is Filigree. Inquisitorially sanctioned ,grudingly tolerated by most of the remaining ecclisiarchal troops and spared by the Eldar. She's also got a much more impressive track record during the invasion than hiding in a cupboard. So killing her is out of question at the moment."
Glare at them. Hard. Like we learned at the inquisitorial academy.
"Anyway, the two over here are Carol and Coral. Seraphim from the order of *i actually forgot*"
"While we're at it, I'm Delessa Kravos. And we really need to get going if we want to help any wounded survivors. I'm sure not everybody was as lucky as you."
"Any further questions? None? Well then, let's move out."

(Florencia and the Silver Winged Angels are Ebon Chalice)

Fortran nodded, still nervous, but Chloe was still in shock. "But... Inquisitor... Daemon... This... This is heresy..."

Fortran puts a hand on her shoulder, trying to quiet her. The twins gesture for Filigree to go away but the daemon stays there, clearly very amused by the whole situation.

The presance of a daemon presses heavily on YOUR mind when there is one around. You can't imagine what its like for a psyker much more sensitive in that regard. What's more, she seems like she's not used to breaking the "rules" very often. Keeping her from noticing Carol and Coral's abilities was going to be difficult.

Why can't these things ever be easy...
"... I can see that this won't lead to anything."
I guess we're exhausted. Sigh, rub our eyes. Show them we're clearly annoyed.
"Carol. Coral. Please take Filigree with you, if she won't behave simply fly back here. But I'm pretty sure she will, right Filigree?"
"Fortran and Chloe, you're with me."
Make sure Chloe is alright as soon as Filigree is gone.

The twins begin dragging Filigree away, the daemonette in question whimpering the whole time about how she never got to be a part of the action. They wern't that far when Chloe got over her shock enough to speak. "I-I'm sorry inquisitor...It was a shock on my mind... I... If you had told me... I'm alright now..."

Fortran was looking around you at the battle sisters, frowning. "Do they have xeno tech in their armor?"

    Smile
"5 minutes of quiet without any daemonic interruption."
Let the calm wash over us, if only for a few seconds.
"I'll need a vacation after this is over. Maybe on titan."
"Well, no time to slack off."
Turning to Fortran, only mildly surprised:
"What? No! ... At least as far as I know. Why would they? Not everything everybody close to me is heretical!"
To Chloe putting a hand on her shoulder, trying to calm her down.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I'm simply to much around people who are way too accustomed to fighting chaos than be frightened by a daemonette. Didn't even begin to guess that this might have such an effect on you. Again, my apologies."
"Now, Chloe, we're looking for wounded Eldar in the vincinty as we can't really trust them to get along with any of our regular troops if found by them. Or vice-versa."
"Ah, before I forget it. You wanted to say somthing regarding any communication arrays in the vicinity, Fortran?"

Yes she's a deamonette. No you she isn't going to kill you. No she isn't going to steal your soul. No you can't kill her anyways. Yes, I'm not a heretic. Yes- really, I'm actually pretty reasonable as far as everything goes.
Sorry about the surprise of this Chloe- I was just kind of hoping that you'd just roll with it."
    Shrug
"Well, regardless, if you don't want to accompany me, I'd more then understand."
    to Fortan
"Erm, I'm not certain about the sisters, but I know that the Eldar Bonesingers have been making themselves very useful, reinforcing walls, repairing weapons, putting up balustrades, so it could be possible. I know they made me this very nice wraithbone armour when my normal power armors battery was destroyed.

A muscle under Fortran's eye twitched several times. "I'm considering it..."

The psyker took a deep breath, massaging her temples gently. "Fortran just... Drop it. No lecture right now. I have a headache and considering everything else that has happened today, I don't think another huge apocalyptic event is going to occur from a little wraithbone glued to powerarmor."

As you near the fallen trees the tone does indeed glow brighter. Before long the stone gets too bright to look at directly. Unfortunately, it wasn't as accurate as you had hoped it would be. There was still a large area to look through.

You move quickly, bursting through the rubble and broken trees into a very small clearing. The ground had several dead banshees on it and the three remaining were fighting two enormous bears. Their skin had been stripped off in places, showing glistening, bulging muscles, yellow foam dripping from serrated teeth the size of your index finger. The fur they did have was black and quill-like, drenched in blood. One stood on its back legs to swipe at the eldar with its gargantuan paw. It must have been fifteen feet tall at least...

You fire at the bear and send it toppling and it... gets back up. It looks at you, pissed as hell, a mark of chaos carved into its forehead.

Filigree 'hmmed' softly, tapping her chin as it advanced. "No clue. If I were you I would attack its weak spot for massive damage." She rushed forward, and leapfrogged over its back, the creature's claws missing her by inches. She landed silently and attacked the other bear from behind, jumping on its shoulders and activating the sollex blade, laughing.

Carol and coral dropped down, one near Filigree, the other next to you. The bear in front of you stood up and roared, bringing its claws down at you.

Not able to think of anything else, you punch it in the nose as hard as you can. It stumbled back a step shaking its head. Its nose was sensitive but not a large enough target to shoot or stab at with any sort of efficiency.

    Ok, right.
I think this one's a trap of sorts, insofar as we can't win with force. Let's power up, lift off, and get the fuuuuuck out.
Unless we really want to try destroying the symbols of Khorne and then something like an Exorcism.
I think I've figured it out: the bears are basically Behemoths of Khorne at this points -living steel hell-constructs, demonic micro-tanks. The Inferno Pistol might not be capable of harming them for the same reasons it doesn't work on the Eldar Avatar: they're powered by a fire far beyond that of a 'mere' melta weapon.
IIRC we'd need a power weapon wielded by someone rediculously brave and skilled, some serious anti-armor firepower of the non-thermal variety (autocannon, lascannon, krak missile), or something from the Other department.

    Enemies:

2 chaos bears - exact deity unkown, possible undivided
    - Extremely well armoured, able to resist multi-melta strenght shots and banshee swords.
    - No calculating intelligence
    - Can only be wounded at weak spots [exposed muscle, eyes(?), chaos mark(?)]

    Allies:
Filigree, speedy and armed with sollex blade.
    - Currently hanging on toone of the bears.
    - Has been unable to use the sollex blade

    Carol, Coral
    - Armed with bolt pistols(?) and power swords(?)
    - Can use their jetpacks

    3 Banshees
    - Judging by the amount of dead Eldar and the non-existant of dead chaos bears; probably ineffective

    Chloe:
    - Psyker, probably able to use her abilites
    - No idea of her abilities.

    Fortran
    - Tech priest
    - No idea of her abilities.

You continue to fire at the bear's exposed flesh. You hit the spots several times, the behemoth roaring in pain and rage, swiping at you over and over. The twin by your side nails it in the eye, the bear's roar increasing in volume as it was blinded on one side.

The banshees seemed to be catching on, slashing at the bald patches. Filigree finally managed to get an adequate grip, reaching around and running the sollex blade home into the creature's mouth. You heard a sickening crunch of metal and the daemonette let out an ecstatic scream.

The bear fell down, unmoving, Filigree slinking off and away from its corpse, clearly injured.

You gesture to the twins and they take off into the air. You take several shots. You manage to hit the crippled forelimb again, the flesh sizzling, the limb becoming near useless.

The bear roars in fury and charges, limping badly. You grin and change targets, hitting the bear in the eyes. It reels, moving faster.

You manage to vault over the bear, rolling when you hit the ground to avoid straining your injured leg. You are losing blood though.

The twins land behind the bear, bringing their swords and guns against the bear. The phase swords seem to do more damage than the banshee's swords, blue energy crackling as the blades sheared off the quills. The bear had a psykic shield of sorts.

The banshees burst from the trees as the twins jump back to avoid the bear's counter. They screech loudly, the horrible sound coupled with the crippled limb knock the bear off its feet.

You fire and fire at the thing, hitting it in its other eye. It screamed loudly, one of the twins darting forward, shoving its sword through the creature's soft pallet. The hellbear screamed, rearing up. for a moment it looked as if it might fall on the sister, but it toppled backwards into a rapidly growing pool of blood.

You quickly move off to find filigree. She was crouched at the base of a tree that had been snapped in half, facing it, her watery black blood dripping into the soil. You slowly approach. The daemon was biting the knuckle of her uninjured hand, a huge grin on her face. the flesh on her other hand and a good way up her forearm had been partially raked off by the bear's teeth, every bone broken, pieces of the sollex blade's hilt protruding out of the tattered flesh.

    "T-too distracted to f-fight Quizzy..."

She was fine... Other than the grievous wound.

You make your way over to the eldar on the ground. They were all dead. The banshees look ready to kill as you begin collecting the soulstones until you mention Rodwen and hold up the tracking stone.

Their Exarch walks up to you, bowing slightly. "Thank you mon-keigh..." She had a thick accent and was fumbling for her words. She obviously had little experience speaking lower gothic. "All of us. We are... I do not know the word... We will follow you?"

She was probably saying that she owed you or she was indebted to you. You'd have to wait to see Rodwen before you could be sure.

    Smile at Filigree.
"D'aaaaw. You're so cute when you think you're right about something. We'll talk about this later but remember, you'd still hurt me a lot if you died."
Turn to the twins. Sigh loudly before we begin our conversation.
"I guess you're right. I'll ask the farseer for advice before revealing anything to the other Eldar. But we'll have to at least hide Filigree's wound, even the Eldar would probably notice the unique colour of her blood."
Start to superficially bandage Filigree's wound with the supplies from the medikit. Just enough to hide the colour of her blood but try to preserve the supplies in case we might actually need it later.
I guess we can start limping towards Chloe and Fortran, Eldar in tow, after that.

Filigree puffs out her cheeks as you tease her, not amused. You sit back and take a long, deep breath before focusing on the psykic binds on Filigree, tightening them again. The twins nodded as you begin to bandage her hand. "Quizzy?" The daemonette gave you a puppy dog expression. "Did I do good? Do I get a reward?"

Filigree is a bit surprised by your kiss. She grinned at your comment, one eyebrow raised. She didn't say anything though. She didn't need to. What have you gotten yourself into...

It was going to be a struggle to stay on top- err... to stay in control of...

You physically shake your head, trying to banish your escalating thoughts. Ignoring Filigree's rapeface, you move back over to the banshees and twins. The eldar had finished speaking some sort of blessing over their fallen.

"Vee vill take zee soulstones too zee farseer. Vee know za vey back." The Exarch bows to you once and takes off, the two others following her before you could respond.

You wondered vaguely how the tech-priestess and psyker were doing, attempting to ignore both Filigree who had begun nuzzling the back of your head and neck, and the twins, who were shooting you uncomfortable looks when they thought you weren't looking.

You begin walking back toward the center of the city, trying in vain to get the daemonette off your arm.

The twins were walking on either side of you. "She really has a vice-grip doesn't she?""It appears to be super-effective."

You pretend to have not heard the twins, moving up beside the two newcomers. You ask Chloe if she feels cold.

The psyker is taken aback by Filigree but, after a moments hesitation, nods. "Sort of... Chills... like when you hit your funny bone or a limb falls asleep, tingling through my bones like the waves of a great body of water."

Filigree (finally) let go, moving to your other side, talking to the psyker. "Thats what I..." Her face hardened, becoming serious. "The Warp energy surrounding the different chaos gods feels different but it's not like this... Not even the minor ones, or undivided. Blanks grate on your mind like nails on a chalkboard... So it can't be either of those..." She shivered again, wrapping her arms around herself. She was completely at a loss.

You were tapped for psykic power at the moment, but you felt the back of your neck prickle, a sort of paranoia filling your mind, as if someone were watching you.

Of corse that possibility was absurd. If someone were there Chloe, despite her shivering, would sense them. You glanced back at the twins. They too looked uncomfortable, though you doubted their meager power could fully sense this chill yet.

Chloe and Filigree slow, going quiet as they focused. The human girl was the first to speak. "I sense a large group of people that way." She pointed to the building at the center. "But no one else."

Filigree nodded. "Yeah. I don't think there's anyone in this area Quizzy... Ugh..." She shivered, rubbing her arms. "I don't like this..."

You reached the city center qickly. A brisk, dry wind had picked up, bringing with it some light fog, though by the look of things it wouldn't stay light for long. It rolled silently down the street, a slow moving avalanche of translucent white, filling every gap, and smothering any fire still burning within moments. WIthin the fog floated tiny black motes which drifted and darted, free from the wind's influence. Insects perhaps... Still it might be best to seal off any cracks when you get inside.

Looking around, it occurred to you that the sky had changed from the usual warp colors, gradually leaning toward yellow-green. You visibly flinch as you auspex crackles in your hear, a faint ring sounding beneath the static. You take it out quickly and examine it. No daemon worms coming through... You put it back on, trying to ignore the irritating noise when another catches your attention. It was very faint, but grating, making your teeth ache. Like fingernails dragged over slate, or a heavy blade dragged over wet stone.

The twins jumped as the wind picked up speed, whistling as it blew through the broken buildings and whipped around the still standing towers, bending and twisting the fog as it continued to engulf the city.

Everyone took off their communication devices, retreating quickly into the center building and slamming the door behind.

You nearly slip when you get inside. The baptismal font had been shattered during the attack, a broken pipe gushing water across the stone and metal floor.

The grating sound was louder in here, accompanied by a low groan that echoed across the walls, obscuring its point of origin.

The Auspex in your hand grew louder and louder until, with a loud crack, it blew itself out, the others' doing the same.

The door shudders as the fog hits it, the ancient wood crackling, ice slowly creeping in from the cracks and under the door. The pipe in the hall shrieked, the flow sputtering, the once clear water filling with rust.

You move forward, away from the door, movement on the stairs catching your eye. You stare up the decorative wood passage, shards of torn books littering the ground. You hold perfectly still, straining to see, the temperature slowly dropping. The shadows flicker at the corners of your vision, only to hold their shape when you look directly, nothing amiss.

The grating sound gets louder behind you, the crackle of ice and frost, growing louder, creeping outward, shot with veins of rust.

    Alright, cold, corruption, decay, rust....
Who the hell could it be?
"Weapons out," I whisper, taking my inferno pistol and forceblade in hand. "Keep silent." Does the Eldar Soulstone respond in anyway to the newest apparition?

I think contact silence would be better advised in the situation

Never heard of a cold mist with Nurgle, but corruption is kind of his thing.
"Keep moving, don't stop. I have no idea what this mist does, and I don't really want to find out."
I quickly scale the stairs, moving deeper into the building. The further away we get from the mist, the better.
Also, if there are any doors intact, we might want to close them.

    No no no
    Stay still
    Stay silent
    Don't say a blinking word, don't twitch a muscle
indicate as much to our companions without speaking

The mist and ice are advancing towards us. If we don't scoot, and soon, we will have to find what it does the hard way. Better to get to the other Sisters than stay here and face the unknown alone.

I climb the stairs to the first bend and wait there, drawing my weapons. I want to see how far the ice goes.

You whisper a prayer as your little group follows you up, watching the approaching ice and mist. The icy glaze stops just short of the stairs, but the rusty veins continue to creep through the ice and out into the stairwell. They are very slow and pulse faintly as if alive.

You finish climbing the stairs quickly, stopping short as the lights begin to flicker. The second floor holds several study rooms filled with data slates, scrolls, and huge dusty books.

The lights flicker again and you glance about, your heart beating loudly in your ears. You couldn't hear the grinding from the previous floor. It was as if a blanket had been thrown over the room, locking it in quiet and stillness. You take a step forward, your own footsteps sounding out of place in the deathly quiet. You hold your breath to avoid sneezing. Each step you take lifts up plaster and dust from the fight that... something flickers at the corner of your vision and you whip around, pointing your gun. You nearly fire when you realize that the thing you were aiming at was a winged marble statue of Saint Celestine, yellowed and cracked with age. That's odd... You don't remember there being-

The lights flickered again, several of them going out completely.

Anybody else thinking the planet is slipping into the warp? Spontaneous events that have no cause, horror movie feel, etc.
Also, are Filgree, Fortran, and Chloe still with us? If so:
"Everybody stay close. Chloe and Fotran in the middle, everybody else facing outward." I whisper, the sound jarring in the silence.
The women nervously shift into position, looking almosty longingly for a physical opponent to fight.

Goddamnit, what is this, a horror movie?
"... Whatever you are, why don't you just save us all a lot of time and pop out so that way you can fight. I'm sure you're very busy and probably have other people to eviscerate today. I don't want to keep you."

Are there any abilities our squad members can use in this situation to help determine what, if anything is happening/can happen?
