The Raven God has left you with the tools and techniques needed to continue your rise to power, albeit through Tzeentch's own twisted sense of amusement. The glowing compass etched on your slave's back points to the ascendant winds of magic, and the sigils Heaven and Shadow seem to hold equal strength. Divination is possible, and while the Beastman herd is kept under control by the minotchar's presence and your magical strength for the moment, the gors need bloodshed soon.

What now, Warhol Umhang? (2d12 with action, first four rolls considered, more specific rules in the next post.)

Using our slave as a conduit we should use our power to search out across the local area. After we find some good settlements we should prepare to absorb, enslave or destory them.

Rules: Warriors of the North uses 2d12 as a system.

If you want to influence the story, you must link back to the action as told by the storyteller with a suggestion of an action.

The first die is used to decide which action will be used to further the story. The first four rolls that are linked back to the most current piece of the story will be the rolls that will be considered.

The second die is used to determine the effectiveness of your action.

Double nines are the equivalent of rolling two natural twenties in a d20 system and higher than rolling a double twelve, as nines are the number of the patron god of this thread. However, only double nines carry this rule. If only the first or second die are nines, then it is treated numerically.

You may attempt to reroll previous actions by linking back to the action and rolling 1d12. The most current reroll will take the precedence of the first die while replacing the second die with the number rolled. Rerolls will be considered until the fourth action roll is completed. Any rerolls after the fourth are null and void.

In the case of two or more rolls having the same value of the first die, the storyteller assigns the actions values on an appropriately numbered die and rolls to see which happens.

ALWAYS LINK BACK TO THE STORY OR THE ACTION YOU WANT TO REROLL. A lot of people forget to take the 2d12 out of their email field, and more than a few rolls just exclaiming or commenting on the story have been taken as a serious roll in the past.

    Have fun!

You feel your sight film over as if watching from a bird's eye. Past the haze of clouds and winter winds, you see another seaside village, much like your own, and far enough from the shore that you know it is an easy march for your warband. Still, it seems as though this village is a bit more hardy than your old one. Their worship, though not focused to Changer of Ways, is still quite adequate and the village has many blessings in warriors and seers.

What should you do with this new informtion? (2d12 with action, first four rolls considered.)

These Norsemen won't be so easily swayed or conquered as the slothful lumps that occupied your old village. You would be able to force your hand and strength on them, but in your mind you know that would be a much harder path. Still, you know that you still have the driving passion to spread the Raven God's ways. You stroke the edges of your mustache before happening upon inspiration.

Summoning a few more ghostly crows with a wave of your taloned hand, you send off the birds off into the night, with a few choice visions for the wisemen of that village.

A staff of wood simply won't do, and there aren't enough raw materials for an iron or steel staff left in the village. You toy with the idea making a stone staff, but then you realize that such a thing would be much too brittle.

Tauresias is at your side now, and listens patiently.

"I think I have just the thing... wait here a moment." he says, and disappears off to the spawn's watchtower. He returns soon enough with a stiffened, curved spine. A mischievous light is in his eyes as he gives it to you.

"Perhaps we should reunite a few bones with the skull, don't you think?" he chuckles, and you agree, giving the spine a simple enchantment to stiffen a bit straighter and to be sturdier.

You have a staff now. What of the skull or other plans? The minotaur tribe still roams the forest, and there is the other village nearby to think about, as well as the Winds of Magic Primer still on the slave's back. (2d12 and action, first four rolls considered)

It looks menacing enough, but without the shaman's soul inhabiting the skull, there is nothing that the staff can really do. More inspiration strikes, and you motion for your slave to surrender her sword. Although she looks sullen, there is no reluctance in her eyes as she gives you her only weapon, and you brush the handle along the tailbone of the spine lovingly with your feathered arm.

Instantly, the bone and the pommel begin to fuse, and an eerie blue light shines over the blade and out from the shaman's skull. You laugh as the spell takes shape even more, as the old bray shaman's horns curl even more and the ghostlights flicker even stronger in it's sockets. You test it on the ground, and you are quite delighted to note that whatever enchanment happened to the staff, the blade no longer picks up dirt or grim and slides easily in and out of the earth. A fine staff indeed!

Well, just make sure not to poke at your foot. (2d12 and action, first four rolls considered)

You give the staff an experimental swing, and while you aren't the most skilled at using a staff as a weapon, you know enough about fighting to know that the balance of the staff is a thing of beauty even with its unconventional shape. Truly a masterpiece.

No time to dwell on your trinkets, though, as a snort from a nearby gor brings you back to the matter at hand. You know of the minotaur tribe and you have already begun to sow seeds of discord among the neighboring Norseman village. Two targets are there at your present time, though you can easily scry again... what should you do?

Tauresius takes a moment to think on what you say, and then nods.

"The doombulls and gorbulls... they have no "village" per se, but the minotaur have erected what other beastmen would call a 'herdstone'..." he says, and you see a smirk coming from his face as he says the word herdstone...

... it's the middle of the night now, as you reach the heart of the forest where the minotaur's "herdstone" lies. Is it not so much a herdstone as it is more a small HILL. You can barely see around the giant collection of boulders piled on top of one another, littered with the bodies of every conceivable creature in the Norscan borders. Truly a formidable sight. You wonder now if sending Tauresius back and leaving you here alone with, presumably, only the slave who is hiding in the shadows, is a very wise idea.

Well. You're here now. Alone in the middle of the forest with a small mountain of bones and rocks and dead things hauled by some of the biggest creatures imaginable. With only yourself and maaaaybe the slave elf. A great... success? What now? (2d12 and action, first four rolls considered)

Perhaps you're feeling a bit suicidal. Perhaps you feel as if the gifts of Tzeentch show his favor on you. For whatever the reason, there don't seem to be any minotaur at the moment. You begin to climb up the steep hill of the herdstone, careful not to slip on any rubble and using your new staff to help the trek, finding it an immense help as it always seems to help you be surefooted, or at least it always anchors to where you plunge it. You look back and see with satisfaction that the slave had come out from the shadows, though she is not following you and stays at the foot of the hill.

Eventually, you do reach the top and you appreciate the view above the treetops before deciding upon a large rock and carving a symbol of Tzeentch on the surface. For now, nothing happens, but...

    Roll a d3
    1- Minotaurs come
    2- Minotaurs don't come

As soon as you carve the sigil on to the rock surface, you are immediately blasted and thrown back by an immense flash of blue light. The stone burns and cracks, and a pillar of blue flame rockets up into the sky, farther than the eye can see and past the clouds. Birds fly from their perches and you can hear the slave screaming about your welfare from the foot of the hill. The blast only lasts for a few seconds and you feel an eerie stillness cover the forest...

(Back for thirty minutes or so, then a fifteen minute break again, then back to here)

The sepulchral quiet is broken as you hear the huffing sound of your slave as she scrambles up to the summit with you. She takes one look at the carved sigil glowing ominously and kneels down, kowtowing and mumbling praises to Tzeentch.

Already you can feel the balance shifting around you and the winds of magic blow strong. Your staff glows almost as brightly as the insignia on the rock, and you can see by the rocks underneath the slave's forehead that her mark and eyes are glowing brightly too.

"You should prepare, 'champion'..." the raven smiles grimly, before flying off your shoulder and on to the slave's head, evidently enjoying the prayers the dark elf whispers to the Changer of Ways.

You have a growing sense of unease, and you hurriedly pull the slave and yourself back behind the boulder marked by Tzeentch. No sooner than you take cover, you feel a rumbling under your feet.

An apocalyptic roar echoes through the forest and you can feel your head splitting as the tremulous notes scatter the birds from their nests and into the night sky. You begin to curse your impertinence for awakening whatever is coming your way, until you hear ANOTHER enormous bellow in reply, much like the first but coming from another direction. The roars are pained and wild, and are akin to the minotaur's own warcries, but on a much more massive scale. The raven flies up from the slave and perches on the rock.

Desperately you weave the winds of magic into shadows, and phantom images of you, animals, slave, and all other types of illusion erupt from your staff. You are thankful, at least, that the winds are bolstering your rudimentary grasp of magic.

You watch as they disappear into the cover of darkness, and you start to make your descent, but one vulturous phantom catches your eye. It is a marvel of a decoy, luminous and briming with magical energy, when a massive rock hurtles through it completely. You never knew illusions could feel pain, but the stone that passes through it visibly rips through the magic binding it and the vulture's face contorts with pain.

And you hear the rumbling turn into small earthquakes, knocking a few smaller rocks off and letting them tumble down the hillside.

The crow still watches the horizon, and it is no longer grinning, but it parts its beak to speak to you.

You grab your staff and plant it firmly on the ground, and you begin to chant the names of your patron, the howling winds of magic now funneling back into a parody of the pillar of fire that began this wretched event.

You feel strength bursting in you as all eight winds begin to mix and coalesce, as well as your own Tzeentchian whiles. The compass on your slave's back glows through her tunic, and you can see that all eight winds are at equilibrium with the Raven God's eye fully open in the center. Magic is pouring through your very bones now.

But as you do so, the roars of the unknown grow even louder, as if being tortured by your gathering of magic, and you can feel their footsteps beginning to a maddened charge.

Dodge the rock, while at the same time moving towards the giant, clamber up it Shadow Of The Colossus style and stab it in the brain stem, then attempt to subdue the second.

I vote we use the benefits gathered through our preparations to make ourselves appear not only intimidating, but also see if we cant make the giants think we have something to offer them. Surely a champion of Tzeentch of all people can outwit a giant. IIRC giants basically go wherever there is beer and food; cant we offer both?

Let's use our super-speed to dodge the rock and throw some fucking lightning at the giants.

Redirect the Stone and center almost all our magical power on the Herdstone. Then send our slave running since they can probably see her pretty clearly.

This, but leap after the rock, attempt to clamber up one of them, Shadow Of The Colossus style, shove our staff into it's brain stem and then pour magic into it, so that we can control it like a big stinky robot.

I don't think we can do much more tonight. I'll make a note of the 12,12 and start off for the next time. Good thread.

4chan's being too hard on the posting. Ending here for the night, though taking the 12,12 into account. See you next time.
