(sorry i meant to get this up sooner but had a few things to do)

    Previously... On Sororitas Quest...

    Part 1:
After being sent planetside on a mission, Novice Sister Esme was confronted by a Tzeenchian sorcerer who awakened her mind to the powers of the warp. Faith unshaken by this new development, Esme decided to continue serving the sisterhood, keeping her abilities secret.

She met up with some surving loyal guard as well as a surviving sister named Tessa. The guard provided information to aid their escape and, with the assistance of Tessa, she managed to call for rescue as well as pick up the stranded guard before the entire planet was hit with cyclonic torpedos.

Sensing danger, Esme investigated the engine room and with the assistance of Retributor Anna and Hospitaller Verity, she destroyed the mind-controlling daemons within, but not before they caused severe damage to the engine. Luckily the ship had reached a new system by then and Canoness Mellitus Galatea ordered the ship to set down planetside for repairs. The locals decided to perform a ritual in honor of their ecclesiarchal visitors and sacrifice a young girl. Esme wouldn't stand for it, rushing to save the girl, thus causing a portal to the warp to open, sustained by the traitorous Miriael Sabathiel.

Calling upon her faith, Esme opened her mind to the warp and let the Emperor's divine light fill her, beating Miriael back into the warp and following after her. Thus she became known as the Exalted Martyr.

    Part 2:
Ordo Malleus Inquisitor Delessa Kravos (Waifu Collector) was called upon to investigate the battle. She was to rendezvous with Canoness Galatea and sisters to obtain more information.

Shortly after meeting up, a warp portal opened up, forcing the sisters and inquisitor to beat back the Daemonettes. On a whim, the Inquisitor bound a daemon named Filigree to herself in hopes of obtaining information. After sealing her powers, and rescuing the planet from a small daemonic incursion with the resurfacing of Esme, Filigree proved both useful and irritating, providing quite a bit of valuable information.

Another Canoness, Florencia, also made herself known, offering her assistance as well as the assistance of her retinue The Silver Winged Angels to Galatea, the twins Carol and Coral being among those in the Retinue.

It was discovered that mind-controlling daemons were infesting planets, making the locals build devices that caused warp portals to appear and consume planets, the cardnal world Ophelia VII being the main target.

After recruiting Sister Elizabeth, an assault and flamer specialist, as well as Sister Sonja, a sniper specialist, the Inquisitor ordered the reinforcement of the Sisters' second holiest world.

They found the warp unstable around them, Esme leaving the safety of the ship to beat back the daemons. Even with their assistance they were forced to warp out, encountering the craftworld Biel-Tan.

Delessa decided to share what she knew with Farseer Rodwen who grudgingly agreed to help. Together they traveled to Ophelia VII.

    >>17701146

They met up with Hereticus Inqusitor Alixander Littner and Living Saint Evangela Hart who agreed to lend their assistance to the cause.

The battle was long and harsh, a messenger of chaos known as a Pain Strider named Eden appearing to give them a chance to surrender. After declining Miriael Sabathiel resurfaced with a troop of possessed Sisters. Though most were killed, the daemon controlling Seraphim Superior Caramel was sealed away, letting her regain control and provide information.

Miriael jumped into the fight herself, Esme returning a third time to assist in beating her back, though it was Delessa who used a Vortex Grenade to land the finishing blow.

In the calm following, teams being dispatched to search for any nearby survivors, the Tech-Priest Fortran and the psyker Chole being among them, as well as a Banshee Exarch named Yáviel.

Any planned victory celebrations were, as the warp destabilized around the planet, the extreme surge of energy from the encroaching chaos gods had begun to awaken a fifth.

    Part 3:

Esme entered the warp, in hopes of stopping the newly formed god from consuming Ophelia VII. She took with her several sisters, extending her aura to protect them. The group pressed quickly through the realm, destroying all manner of daemons. They did, however, find a small fluffball of a remnant with many teeth which Caramel decided to name Tribble.

It was soon discovered that aspects of the chaos god exist seperate from the main entity and are working to create the fabric of the realm. Esme set out do destroy these one by one, tearing holes in the god's realm and allowing daemons of the original 4 to pour in. These daemons chose to 'ignore' the small group of sisters, far more focused on preventing the new chaos god from rising to power.

After destroying 4 orbs, and finding Sister Alessa, a demolitions expert, Sister Evelyn, a Novice trainer, and Mistress Sawyer, A Repentia Mistress along the way.

A large energy conduit was cut, allowing the Legion of the Damned to assist in fending off a large horde of Daemons. A greater daemon soon followed, forcing Esme to use the second vortex grenade.

With things calm for now, the sisters prepare themselves to infiltrate the god's realm through the sewer systems.

explain this bullshit to me /tg/...
bolts are described as less than 1 inch in diameter.
they are gyrojet explosive armor piercing rounds.
such rounds can have about zero recoil and negligable gas pressure (see real gyrojet gun) up to a very managable recoil and a formidable exit speed.

SO WHY THE FUCK IS THE OUTER BARREL SO BIG AS A 40MM GRNADE LAUNCHER ON EVERY PIC?
    >> His Divine Wrath 01/27/12(Fri)20:44 No.17701214
Your haphazard group was restless. They gathered around the entrance to the hole that had been dug. The hole leading into the sewers and, hopefully, into the lair of the chaos god Haenoth.

They looked to you now to choose your team. In such a confined space, taking the entire group would ensure many deaths. A small group to secure the way would be the best course of action.

The question remained... Who would you take?

    I'd suggest:
-Rodwen, because she can help with warp related stuff
-Tessa, because Esme will never hear the end of it if she doesn't.

Do we have any idea what those sewers might look like? I'm not sure if bringing any ranged characters could be useful or not.

Fire power is always useful. I'd probably want someone who can move quietly, if we're intending to infiltrate. Maybe Anna?

If we're going to do this guns a blazing and faith powers flying I'd recommend Alessa. Hell probably take her anyway, cause demo charges will probably be very useful in close confines

So far we've decided on Tessa, definately. I don't have any objection to the Farseer or Alessa. Both will be useful in their own way- the eldar for her psykic long range attacks, and knowledge, and Alessa for her meltaguns and expertise of explosives.

I think we should pick one more, preferably someone who can fight without attracting too much attention, since we want to be quick about it.

I'd say we need some psyker support, another cc combatant and somebody capable of providing fire support.

    >>17701398
Let's ask this way, do you plan to scale our encounters within certain limits? I'd hate to screw up because we took 4 people and you planned all enounters for a 5 character groups or apply a penalty for every character beyond the first 3.

Well Esme has faith powers. Between her and the Farseer we should be good. I suppose Carol and Coral or Caramel might be good for close combat, but they're at a major dis advantage without the ability to fly.

Same goes with Evangela, though she has faith power too.

I do plan to scale the encounter. Though taking too few could result in problems as would taking too many. you should probably consider taking 3-5 ish but there are reasons to take more or less.

please be aware that this is not the final boss party :P

A party of four sounds about right.

Counting Esme, and keeping the current roster at Rodwen, Tessa, and Alessa, that should be enough.

I don't want to take too many of our heavy hitters away, at the moment, if only because they'll be facing who knows what while we're trekking through the dungeon.

(forgive the dungeon drawings. I dont have my tablet with me)

Tessa nodded once. stepping back. You glance at the hole. Its pitch black. Elizabeth sends a small gout of flame down into it. The floor was visible a ways down. The tunnel had a small trickle of water running down the middle. The smell was indescribable. Not potent, but it left a dull ache in your temples and jaw.

Elizabeth smiled, using the pilot light to light a lho-stick. "Seems clear."

Caramel handed Tribble to Verity and stepped forward without another word, her jump pack slowing her fall and lighting a good area. The glowing Sollex blade assisted, though not much.

Rodwen followed, holding up an orb of crackling psykic light. She was wary.

You assisted Alessa and Elizabeth. Neither one could get down easily without risking damage to their gear.

Now that you were in the tunnel the smell was far worse, getting into your hair and every crevice in your armor. It was metallic and sickly sweet with faintly burnt undertones accompanied by the unmistakable smell of decay.

There was an expanse of tunnel in front of you that led to an iron door. It was cracked open slightly, pitch black beyond.

You open the door. Alessa took point, followed by Elizabeth, using a large mass for cover. It wasn't until Rodwen entered with her glowing orb that you saw the room clearly, devoid of any danger. The room was filled with various clutter. It was another pump control room. The machinery itself looked badly damaged but the pump control unit was largely intact. There were a few monitors near the controls. It also looked like you might be able to operate some distant machinery with it, maybe even the lights, but messing with it may not be a good idea without sufficient skill.

You heard the sound of things breaking and the sound of tearing wires. The monitors grew fuzzy and flickered off. You were just about to tell her to stop when the emergency lights flickered on, bathing the room in a very faint red glow.

Alessa backed out, looking satisfied. "Got the lights on chief, though not sure what else I broke. The emergency power cables were broken, see, and I had to rip out some wires to replace them."

You give the room a once over, letting your divine aura flare to light the area. Nothing seems out of place.

You let your aura dim again and move up behind Elizabeth, gesturing for Rodwen and the others to join you.

You nod once to Elizabeth and she opens the door quickly, walking through. She looks around and freezes, staring off to her left.

The smell hit you hard as the door was thrown open, and you cautiously follow Elizabeth out.

You find yourself on a catwalk suspended 15 feet above a large room. The soft red light barely illuminates the area, but you can see enough. The room is filled with black sludge, the same insect like daemons from before muddling about in it. It was unclear what they were doing in the dimness and from the distance you were at. There were several flood gates down in the sludge, one of them blocked by fallen rubble.

There was a door on the other end of the catwalk.

You cautiously approach the next door, Caramel taking point this time. She has some trouble with the lock but manages to get it open.

This room is far more well lit than the one before it, several electro candles still casting flickering light through the chamber. The room is just as large as the previous one, though the center of this room is dominated by two large vats containing emperor knows what.

You can see a small spillway on the far side of the room, down the stairs. It appears that there are doors there. Your boots are loud on the catwalk... There's no telling what might be lurking in the heavy shadows down on the ground floor. and you have lost the element of surprise.

There also appears to be a couple doors to your right.

You pause as something catches your eye. Something shiny was on the floor in the middle of the room.

You grab the key and gesture everyone to get ready. Caramel was staring at the vats now, sonic pistol in one hand.

"No." it was Rodwen. "Get back." She gave no further warning as psykic lightning leapt from her hands and across the metal surface of the vats. An ear piercing squeal was heard accompanied by the smell of burnt flesh.

a side of the vat bubbled and turned to slag as Alessa's melta hit it, revealing a slimy spongey like organic material. It writhed, a chunk tearing itself off, sprouting legs and a horrible mouth. It was a hive daemon.

Before it could attack, Elizabeth's flamer engulfed it, the sister in question cackling like a maniac.

The damage had been done however. The side of the vat was cracking upwards revealing more and more of the spongey mass. There was enough material there to easily bud several dozen hive daemons.

Rodwen grunted with the effort of maintaining her assault. Without the numbing effects of the lightning...

The eldar let out a sharp breath, grabbing the railing for support. almost instantly the vat exploded, hive daemons attempting to scatter only to be met with Elizabeth's cleansing flame.

You move over to the eastern gate, hovering over the sludge. There was a thick grate covering it, the sludge slowly pouring out. Beyond was pitch black.

You decide to continue on for now, trying the Northern door, taking point. Alessa fell into pace behind you.

Beyond it was a room with a console and large machine. It was probably for some sort of treatment process. The wall straight ahead contained various data slates about the conditions of the sewers. It might have contained a map or schematics but there were hundreds of slates. You wouldn't know where to begin.

Next to the shelf of data slates were a pile of boxes. They were a little damp but otherwise sealed tight.

There was a door on the far left wall. It looked heavily rusted. It might not open easily.

Esme sighs and rolls her shoulders. "I suppose you're right. We'll let Fortran and the twins take a look at it later. For now, we should press forward."

The living saint turns to Rodwen, speaking in a lower tone of voice. "How are you feeling? You looked a little drained back there."

Alright, let's open those doors then. Esme on one, backed up by Alessa, and Elizabeth and Caramel on the others.

Nothing to do but to keep pressing forward. Also, nice trips Satan.

Also, I guess just probing the emperyan with our powers won't hurt either. The chaosy field diminished any?

Elizabeth just found some promethium so she should be good. Everyone else is using things that don't require ammunition.

Good. Maybe in the next thread we can set up an IRC chat or something, so that way people don't go wandering off waiting for replies
    >> Anonymous 01/30/12(Mon)07:11 No.17734730
that DOES seem to be what causes these threads to slow down, huh? OP takes awhile to write the posts. Not complaining about it though. Effort shows.

My questers... You may use this thread's remaining life to discuss strategies for fighting the chaos god.

Mind you, he is planned out in advance, and I will admit that you'll be railroaded into taking at least Evangela purely because... well you're fighting a chaos god. A living saint is good to have.

Still, zeal is your greatest stat buffer. keep it in mind

on an unrelated note my captcha has been the same thing for the entire weekend. it never works when i type it in so i gotta refresh it every time at least once...
